    Empanada and whipped cream

The sweet potato empanada here is insane!! I'm so mad I discovered this because my summer body is so not happening now due to my consumption of these delicacies!! I've only ever tried the sweet potato empanada but it is bangin- like a sweet potato pie and a churro had a baby and then the baby was kissed by God. Flaky, buttery, cinnamon sugary, perfection. I'm fortunate enough to live around the corner from here, and ask my boyfriend nightly if we can stop by albas so I can get my favorite sweet treat. I have to try the rest of the empanadas asap but man oh man do not miss the sweet potato empanada or I will be upset with you!

I had been wanting to try this place based off a vlog posted. Ehhh I wasn't too impressed. I felt like the empanadas all around lacked flavor. They filling didn't fully fill the empanada and the empanadas you have to choose from doesn't give much variety. My least favorite was the sweet potato. It didn't seem to have anything extra added to it. Strictly mashed sweet potato inside of dough with a sprinkle of sugar and cinnamon on the outside. For it to be a "dessert" empanada, I expected a little more from it. The rice was dry and lacked flavor. This isn't an establishment to go and sit inside. More so grab and go.

The food was good, but it didn't blow me away. I did like how there was a Caribbean twist, however it was all spicy. I like how it was a walk up, however it took a while to get the food. I thought a to go would be quick. The prices were a little high

Literally fantastic. The empanadas were extremely crunchy and all the food tasted really fresh.

I tried the trio of empanadas. My personal favorite is the cheese empanada. The way to do it is to order them and go to the bar next door!

The food The rice was old stiff and dried out. The empanadas were decent I wouldn't go out of my way for this. The service is lousy!

My experience was wonderful and they're handling the pandemic well and appropriately. I walked into the Plaza Mariachi center looking for lunch. A beautiful young lady cheerfully took my order, which was processed quickly and efficiently. I decided to try the hamburger and the chicken wings. The hamburgesa was a thick, half-pound beef patty cleverly seasoned with a brilliant flavor. It came with a fried egg, a buttered bun, lettuce, and tomato. Admittedly, I was also hoping for the pico, cotija, and remolade that appear as toppings on the menu version. They were absent, and they might simply be out of certain condiments as the coronavirus persists. But that didn't detract from the satisfying taste! The chicken wings are smoked until tender, and then fried for a lovely crisp red exterior. Oh they were delicious! They were missing the tequila lime dressing, perhaps another casualty of the pandemic. It's not uncommon to alter one's menu these days. But they were undeniably tasty! A nice surprise were the hand-cut potatoes that accompanied both entrees, fried just enough for that crispy edge while soft and tender on the inside. I think almost any dish will come with these little gems. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at Tres Gauchos!

The potatoes here are so perfectly crispy on the outside & hot & soft on the inside, something you'll want to replicate at home for sure. The real shining star of the menu i think is the hamburger. The patty has to be higher grade sirloin & the seasoning is perfect. they top it with a perfectly cooked egg, delicious bread & standard burger fixings. My wife & i have both had it & think its a top 5 burger in Nashville even when compared to places like the Pharmacy, Gabbys, & other known burger joints. Large portions & better quality food than you'd probably imagine for a food court type location.

We were hosting an event at my work I helped coordinate, and wanted a few food trucks. I emailed Chivanada and Daniel responded so quickly and kindly with all the information needed. He was so easy to work with. They arrived on time, and were super popular! We had them and one other food truck there. While I heard rave reviews of both, there was a constant line for this one. Personally, I tried the beef and chicken empanadas and the avocado/tomato salad. That gooey Gouda cheese was the perfect addition. I was not a huge fan of the white dipping sauce, but it was still good. I prefer a chimichurri sauce for empanadas, but that's just me. Daniel, I'm sure I'll be in touch to use you guys for another event in the future. Thank you for everything -- we loved having you!

I ordered a beef and shrimp empanada. The total was $14, and it's great that you get to mix and match any two for $14. I was a little bit, disappointed by how salty the empanadas were. I felt like I was sprinkling lime juice in using the cream sauce, just to dull down the saltines rather than for the flavor. The beef and cheese empanada was a bit oily, but less salty, whereas the shrimp empanada was quite salty. I was, however, quite impressed by the yucca fries. Those were very well seasoned, and had a sweetness to them. That was really pleasant! I definitely wanted to like this place a lot more than I did, especially given the hype around them.

So, in the [redacted] number of years in which I left Florida and moved to Nashville, I have been on the hunt in Middle Tennessee to replicate the flavors and food I enjoyed in the 305. I'm still looking. It was a new year and I was feeling adventurous. Some yelpers had made mention of a new(ish) Venezuelan spot in Antioch and I wasn't doing much on a Friday night so... I drove south to see what was what. The strip mall Totuma is in has a few Latin American restaurants so if you're looking for sazon, you can take a trip around the plaza and have something new for a while. I parked and walked in with excitement. I was greeted with a sigh, shrug and a not-so-inviting look. Had traffic not been so bad I would have walked out. Maybe I should have. First impressions have a lot of power and my first impression was that I was unwelcome in that place. Trying to power through, I approached the young woman at the hostess stand and tried to engage in some friendly small talk. Nope. Not interested. This was getting worse. Not wanting to continue the pain, I ordered, paid, sat, and waited for my food. The dining room wasn't very busy which allowed me to feel the burn of her stare. I don't know what the problem was but I was beginning to wonder if it was me. Mercifully, my food was ready. The hostess dropped at at the table I was sitting without a word. Cool. I drove home in a bit of a funk. Food is nourishment, yes, but I can (should) also make you feel good. I was not feeling good. I got home with hopes that my belly would take over for my feelings. The double order of papa yuca started things off well. The best I can describe this is yuca balls with cheese. As most things fried with cheese, these were good. Not great. Good. But at this point, I would take 'good.' For my main, I had a trio of arepas: shredded beef, chicken and pork. The arepas were a good size and each came with a generous portion of meat. But all three meats were incredibly salty to the point of being inedible... and I can eat a lot of not-so-great things. Coupled with the overwhelming salt bomb, the food tasted devoid of emotion. It sounds dumb to say but you can sense when food is made with passion/love/fervor. You can also sense when it's not there. It wasn't there. The search continues.
