If Tres Gauchos had any struggles of daily operation in the past, those have all been alleviated now. My experience was wonderful and they're handling the pandemic well and appropriately. I walked into the Plaza Mariachi center looking for lunch. A beautiful young lady cheerfully took my order, which was processed quickly and efficiently. I decided to try the hamburger and the chicken wings. The hamburgesa was a thick, half-pound beef patty cleverly seasoned with a brilliant flavor. It came with a fried egg, a buttered bun, lettuce, and tomato. Admittedly, I was also hoping for the pico, cotija, and remolade that appear as toppings on the menu version. They were absent, and they might simply be out of certain condiments as the coronavirus persists. But that didn't detract from the satisfying taste! The chicken wings are smoked until tender, and then fried for a lovely crisp red exterior. Oh they were delicious! They were missing the tequila lime dressing, perhaps another casualty of the pandemic. It's not uncommon to alter one's menu these days. But they were undeniably tasty! A nice surprise were the hand-cut potatoes that accompanied both entrees, fried just enough for that crispy edge while soft and tender on the inside. Hands down the best place to eat at Plaza ever since the hot bar at Mas Fresco was removed awhile back. The potatoes here are so perfectly crispy on the outside & hot & soft on the inside, something you'll want to replicate at home for sure. The real shining star of the menu i think is the hamburger. The patty has to be higher grade sirloin & the seasoning is perfect. they top it with a perfectly cooked egg, delicious bread & standard burger fixings. My wife & i have both had it & think its a top 5 burger in Nashville even when compared to places like the Pharmacy, Gabbys, & other known burger joints. I really like the concept of this place. You walk up to them, tell them what you want, wait for the order, and then sit down and enjoy it. Pretty straightforward. They have some great offerings that I really enjoyed that are not comparable to other places in Plaza Mariachi. I usually will get their beef skewer with a side of plantains and potatoes. Usually, that can turn out 2 meals for me. Pricing for most items are under $10, and portions are super satisfying and filling. Why 4 stars? The wait. The wait can be daunting sometimes. You should not have to wait with the length of time for the food that you do. It isn't necessary. I don't have any other Argentinean meals to compare this to, but if this sets the standard, then they have the bar raised high. read more

A friend told me about this place. Let me just say the Plaza Mariachi is a great addition to Nashville! You feel like you're out of town when you walk inside. This restaurant is awesome as well. We ordered the medium cooked sirloin steak with chimichurri, grilled elote, potatoes with an aoili on the side and chicken with a side of red chimichurri. Everything was delicious!! The chicken and sirloin were cooked perfect very moist. The corn was just right and the potatoes were seasoned perfectly. I would definitely recommend this place!! For me and another friend we waited patiently for a half hour as everyone around us was getting their orders brought out. We figured that they were cooking our orders "fresh" and that was why it was taking so long. After a half hour of waiting I went up to the cashier and asked about our order. She said that it would be another five minutes. When our orders were brought out they were cold. It was apparent that they had been sitting somewhere for some time. I'm a big beef eater. I really like Brazilian steakhouses conceptually, but AYCE just leaves me feeling stuffed. Somehow, I stumbled onto this awesome Argentinian grill in a mall. You stand in line and order reasonably priced cuts of beef. They all come with some well-cooked potatoes that I ate one or two off since I'm light carbing. I had the hanger steak which was flavorful. The dipping sauces all were yummy, and the chimichurri was a nice fresh change from the typical worcestshire or horseradish I like. The vegetable side was yummy and fresh tasting and sliced quite thin. The plantains were nice as well. The grilled avocado in addition really complimented the meal. Very easy to minimize the carbs here while still getting good vegetables. Neat environment on a Saturday night with dancing, but finding seating required stalking for a group leaving the tables. We've been here a few times (more like 20) and I'm glad I waited to review! A lot of the "issues" others complained about have been addressed: it's no longer an extremely congested version of WhichWhich to get your order placed and paid for. Now, there's a picture board available of the different menu items and you place your order and pay at the same time. I, for one, am super pleased to see that change because it would take a really long time to get your order and "texting" when your order was ready really wasn't realistic because of the awful signal you get in the place. Thankfully, they're aware of that issue so they have free WiFi. Yassss. You can't go wrong with any cut of meat; ribeye is my favorite, sirloin cap second favorite. I was driving around what used to be an out of business grocery store parking lot. I could find Tres Gauchos. It was next to Taj, so I was going to use that as a backup. I decided that maybe it was on the inside of this new Plaza Mariachi. I was absolutely shocked. Plaza Mariachi's renovation was completed incredibly well. It had several stores, a grocery store, an arcade, a restaurant, and a food court. In the food court was Tres Gauchos which is what I came to try. You choose between different cooked to order wood fired grilled steaks, kabobs, and seafood. After 2pm they also offer smoked meats. I ordered the 6oz flank steak and corn on the cob. Oh man it was incredible. It seems like 9oz as the portion was sizable. It came with some fresh pita type bread and Argentinian Chimichurri which was excellent for dipping. It had some The smoked meat had awesome flavor. The corn was as good as it gets as well. The food and atmosphere of the food court is pretty awesome. It was a surprising work lunch. read more

Comical. Truly, I was laughing at the end of the experience because it was just.so.bad. Tres Gauchos never has to worry about my business again. The photos of the business and the high price point gave me pause but the resounding positive reviews encouraged me to deny what my eyes told me. That was a mistake. Don't make this mistakes. I'll tell this story in a series of strikes. Strike 1: The order system is confusing and congested. In order to get your food processed, you need to go to the small stand, grab a card and a pen, move out of the way, review the card, mark what you want, hand the card over, go over the veracity of said card with the person behind the stand, give your name and cell number, go somewhere, wait to be texted with your order, go back to the stand, grab your food. Got it? Good. The only (haha) problem with this is that none of this is communicated or posted. You have to figure it out on the fly. This works when you're the only person around. When the crowd is 6+ deep, it's a cluster. Guess which I experienced. Strike 2: After going through the ordering process I was told that what I ordered (chicken) was out. They were out of chicken with hours to go before close on a Monday. Huh? Annoying and a rookie move (stock your kitchen with staples) but this sort of information needs to be clearly posted for customers. Had I known this from the beginning, I probably would have gone to another eatery. At this point, my buddy had ordered, I'd taken the time to go through the ordering process... I was invested. Again, if you're out of a menu staple hours before close, post it. Tell customers. Don't make them jump through hoops only to be told they need to jump through more hoops. Strike 3: After going through all of this trouble (and ordering something that I really didn't want), my order was burnt. Yes. Burnt. I ordered the Argentine skewer and received briquettes. I'm not joking. Not only was my meat burned to a black crisp, it was dry, unappetizing and smelled of fire. My buddy looked at my tray and said 'they served you that?' Yep. Obvious to the eye that this was food that shouldn't have been served. Trying to soldier past it, I took a bite and barely chipped off a piece of the meat. It was desert dry... and burnt. Hungry? I was annoyed and offended this even left the kitchen. If you work with kebabs, you know how to cook and serve them. If you don't know, then don't serve them. You don't give your customer inedible food. One of the PM workers stopped by to ask how everything was. I told him. He followed me back to the counter where I asked for another tray, as this was, obviously, something I couldn't eat. After pouring over the menu again to figure out a third option to order, I made my mind up, ordered and sat back down. The person behind the stand came over to my table three times to amend the order. At this point, my buddy is finishing his meal. I haven't started mine. Obviously. Strike 4: After 35 minutes of waiting for the new order (after an initial 15 of waiting for the first and 10 waiting to order in the first place), I went back to the counter to see what was going on. At this point, one of the cooks came back from the grill to ask me if I was 'the guy with the burnt food?' 'Yes.' 'Okay. What did you order again?' I told him. 'Okay. I'll make it.' Wait. Stop. STOP! Are you meaning to tell me that after making me wait an hour+ for food you screwed up, you didn't have the decency or professionalism to redo my order immediately? At this point, my vision turned a bit Black Swan-ish. Strike 5: My order wouldn't be remade. I would get something different. In fact, the order was dumbed down significantly. I was waiting an hour+ for cubed chicken on a stick and a forgotten order of fries. Strike 6: I went back to the PM employee who asked how things were. I told him I was tired of waiting, incredibly hungry and that I wanted a refund. His response? 'Sorry' with a shrug. I was, about, two seconds away from going full Real Housewives of Atlanta on him. Strike 7: When I went to get my refund, they were so petty as to charge me for the soda I bought. Yes, an hour+ of screw ups on their side didn't result in a sincere apology, an offer to have something immediately available, a request to come back on the house... none of that. For my troubles, I was charged for a soda. Never again, Tres Gauchos. Never again. This place gave me Miami service flashbacks. That's not a good thing. read more

Very Yummy fixings. I like the fill in the bubble ordering and texting when the meal is done. I had the Picana that was very tasty and seasoned well. I had the chimichurri verde sauce with it also. Prior to this past Thursday January 25th 2018, I would have easily given them 5 stars! The food and procedure has changed and it's now subpar. My previous visit was on November 20th 2017 and everything was excellent. This last visit the food was horrible. I got the carne Blanca chicken and it was bland and dry! There was also no chimichurri sauce to dip the chicken in! The plantains were not ripe and were hard! The chicken in November was different. It was so tender and flavorful and the fresh chimichurri sauce was great. So I'm not sure if this current version is part of the new menu. I used to love the food here. We took the afternoon walking around the Garden of Earthly Delights that is Plaza Mariachi. My initial plan was to stop and eat at one place, but that was scrapped when Tres Gauchos appeared on my radar screen. My choice was a full rack of pork ribs and, as a side, a small order of Patas Fritas (fried potatoes). The huge slab of ribs were served on a metal tray. I needed a knife to separate those ribs and was only given a plastic knife and fork. That plastic knife just wouldn't do to cut through all that pork, but my NCIS-type pocket knife did just fine. Gibbs's Rule 9 "Never go anywhere without a knife" came in handy. Those ribs were covered with a sauce containing crushed red peppers and lime juice. I was walking on sunshine after eating those ribs. The potatoes were, like the ribs, something special. This may have been a "small" order, but there were lots of potatoes. Each piece was crispy & crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. According to the menu, they have been tossed in garlic butter, crushed red peppers and herbs. Color them Yummy. Most meals seem to have one dish that isn't quite as good as the rest. There was no weakest link in my meal today. Nothing had to take the walk of shame. This was a fantastic meal and deserves five stars. read more

I tried the beef and the chicken skewers. If you want something fresh come here. They were freshly made. I also ordered the potatoes though they were a little oily but still good. I suggest eating the meat since it's a little dry. They have two different sauces they add on the side. Customer service is excellent. Amazing food. I got the ribeye, my wife got the swordfish. The swordfish was excellent and well worth the price.
