Elote
Christian E.

I came on a Saturday and a Sunday night. Saturday was fairly fast. Sunday there was a long wait. I would've thought it would have been the opposite. Both nights the food was amazing. I got the fish tacos twice because they were so good. The Elote was loaded with cheese and good the next day when I reheated it. The potato tacos were also good. I liked that they were nice and would bring your food inside. Chopper for you instead of making you sit out there and wait.

Beef tacos very tasty! We also grabbed the Elote corn very nice as well. You can sit inside the bar right in front of the food truck and eat your meal and order a drink.

Delicious as always! Birria, beans, elote, flautas are our faves. Great crew working the truck

I've been following this restaurant for a while now and was looking forward to trying them out when in town. When you pull up it's an older "dingy" food truck which is usually a good sign from my experience. I knocked as the note said and was immediately greeted by the employee. He kindly took my order and told me 10 mins. He was friendly and polite which is all I could ask for. The food came out quickly and was hot as hot food should be. The birria tacos were delicious all by themselves and didn't need the consumè. And I like that the cilantro and onions come in the side. I also got the elotes which has the option of on or off the cob. I got off. The flavor was nice and it was good to see a more "traditional" elotes and not some random dish with corn being called elotes. Just simple corn, mayo, spice and cheese. We also ordered the bean and cheese burrito which is extremely reasonably priced for the side and also hot when it came out. My only request would be a little more salt in the beans but over all I was happy. All in all good food and a fair price. As for seating there isn't any unless you are drinking at the bar, which we weren't so we ate off the hood of The car which wasn't the easiest thing with the weather blowing everything around. Maybe they allow you to sit there and not purchase drinks but we didn't want to risk it

Taco plate with cauliflower

We always go to the food truck. Decided to try the restaurant, it did not disappoint. We ordered the taco salad with chicken, taco plate with cauliflower and flautas as an appetizer. Everything was delicious. The taco salad was delicious with very good dressing. The flautas were good but I kind of kind tired of eating them after just one. The taco plate was good too. I have to go back and try the quesabirria next time. The place is super cute and everyone was very nice. Great experience.

I have religiously searched for Birria Tacos in Nashville and have come across a couple of different spots. However, NONE have come close to the flavor that this place delivers. This spot was a Semi finalist for the James Beard Award back in 2023. From that alone, I think it warrants giving it a try. The birria beef tacos were well prepared, cheesy and paired well with the consome. I recently found out that you can you can get different color tortillas based on the corn used and that will change the flavor. I've been here twice already and the first time I had the blue tortillas and the second time it was the standard yellow. They also have red so I'll have to give that a try when I inevitably return for my weekly/monthly birria craving. Overall, phenomenal birria tacos.

Flautas

Gotta love a super bomb food truck parked outside of a super bomb bar! I only got to try the flautas, since we were heading to dinner shortly after leaving the bar, but I hope to one day return to the Maíz De La Vida food truck to taste each and every item on the menu! The quality and flavors of the flautas lead me to believe that everything on the menu is probably phenomenal.

Clutch taco spot, easy to order, and the drinks at chopper are great to enjoy while you wait! Get the elote

Great ambiance and drinks! Only stayed for drinks and some chips and salsa but they were delicious.

Food was excellent. We tried the birria burrito and the enchiladas suizas - both delicious. Chips were fresh and very tasty. We finished lunch with the tres leches which was amazing. Nice ambiance and very good service. Highly recommend.

This all started as a handmade tortilla business inside the owner's kitchen and now he has a fully loaded food truck that permanently sits outside of Chopper tiki bar. I was only able to sample their Carne quesadilla, because we were in kind of a hurry, but this cheesy, crispy, meaty treat was soooo good! It. One order gets you two quesadillas and it's big enough to share, but if you're hungry, sharing is not recommended. Btw, These surprisingly pair well with the rum based cocktails served at Chopper. All the tortillas served on this food truck are corn and handmade by the owner, Julio and his crew. I really love the fact that he's keeping these timeless food traditions alive and sharing them with Nashville. Snack smart my friends!

A few things: #1 I always try to make it a point it visit the James Beard award nominees in a city because you'll find restaurants like this. #2 I lived in Texas and took pride in my taco prowess. And wow were these delicious tacos. I don't know what magic they put in these tacos but the Birra tacos were mouthwatering and had the perfect homemade tortilla. As close to a perfect taco as you'll get. And just as good as my Texas tacos. The churros were alright, nothing special about them but paired well with the tacos

Maiz de la vida is a food truck located at the same address as chopper tiki bar. just off galatin). You have the choice of to-go or eating at the bar inside. First off, the food is excellent. The man at the window recommended the quesabirria and I'm glad he did. Ordering the consume is a must! Despite all the dining options in Nashville they managed to make the Tennesseans top 25 restaurants last year. They do have a second physical location on Clarksville pike, but I can't imagine the food is any better than the food truck! I will definitely be repeating! Friendly service, great food, fair prices!

The pesto chicken sandwich was also bigger than I thought! Fries were also crispy, good amount as a side. The burger was unexpectedly good too. The only reason why it's not a 5/5 for me is because of the location and seating. I don't mind bars (got a good draft beer) but it's shared space outdoor space. Seating is ok, but not the cleanest and the visuals around you and smell of left over cigs weren't it... Other than that - 5/5 food!

They operate out of a food truck, which means prep times may be longer than they would out of brick and mortar. If time is NOT on your side just wait until you have time to spare. You won't be disappointed believe me. I'm prob wha you call a wimp when it comes to spice levels. The highest I've gone is a 5, but I believe they go up to 10/11. Some things you have to ease into. After hearing them explain the levels of heat, 5 was a safe spot for me. The tenders are juicy and coated entirely by breading and spice level of choice. The juiciest tenders you ever put in your mouth. They do have dipping sauces available (ranch, spicy ranch, maple honey (their spin on honey mustard). For sides you can choose fries or pasta salad. Both are good. I just prefer a little fry action with my tenders. If you've been contemplating on going, DON'T. Just go! Oh yeah the chicken sandwich is also great too. I still need to try the burger!

I have heard all the lore of the famed Cobbler truck and finally got the chance to experience it for myself. While cobbler is not my go to dessert, I made sure to at least sample the goods...but when I got the window, I realized I could have the best of multiple worlds with a cobbler milkshake. Yup, a whole milkshake with cobbler mixed in! Me and a peer split a classic peach cobbler milkshake and a bowl of vanilla ice cream. Both were delectable! And with the mention of ice cream, they offer vanilla only. But if cobbler or ice cream, or a mix of the two are not your thing, they also serve up banana pudding, which is another southern staple in the dessert world! Service was friendly, welcoming and fun. The truck showed up early, got set up and service was perfect, which was impressive given we had 150+ cobbler hungry folks at the office! Overall, Tennessee Cobbler Company is the real deal - highly recommend for any function where a sweet treat is on the menu!
