I'm grateful for the friends that I have who know what foods I enjoy and where we should dine. This adventure is brought to you by a place in #Nashville called Redheaded Stranger. They have a LOT of great options but I wanted #tacos. Two of the three chosen didn't have meat while the third contained a delicious pulled pork. My friend, Susan, had their version of a Crunchwrap. The food served here is out of control. It's super fresh and FULL of flavor, their tortillas are made on-site, and their salsas/hot sauces... oh man, the dark bottle was so good that I wanted to take shots of it. We heard about Redheaded Stranger from a coworker in another state that had seen it on The Food Network. Word was passed down to us and we decided to try it. Now, I should have read about the parking situation on Reddit before coming here because boy, is parking rough. You either have a few street parking options (in which neighbors get upset, rightfully so), or you fork up the $25 for paid parking across the street. Well, only paid parking was available and I wasn't about to get scammed. So, we decided to do pickup (which was not available for online ordering at the time due to how busy they were). My husband went in and waited about 45 minutes or so while I sat in the car, sitting pretty in the driver's seat in paid parking without actually paying. Loopholes. Now, if it weren't for the atrocious parking situation, Redhead Stranger is absolutely a 5 star joint. 10/10. However, if you're going to cook up some delicious grub and be so amazing that you're featured on The Food Network, at least get the parking figured out. I mean, they literally have a roped off section for people waiting to get inside as if it's some club. This is a popular hamburger spot and maybe they don't need a designated parking area, people WILL figure it out because it's just that good. Clearly, Redheaded Stranger is doing just fine without people like me griping about the parking. We ordered their popular Green Chile Cheeseburger and yes, you do need to order it. It doesn't look amazing when you open the wrapper but the flavor is all there! My husband hates on smash burgers but this? Oh. He loved this. We also ordered their totchos and the frito pie, which were both good, but the totchos being more memorable and more delicious. We also ordered a barbacoa taco and the brisket taco. Now, if I would have known how good that brisket taco was, I would have skipped paying for the frito pie and totchos and would have ordered a handful of the brisket tacos instead. The meat was so flavorful and melted perfectly into the homemade tortilla. Lord have mercy, that brisket paired with the green chile cheeseburger had me nearly acting like Meg Ryan. If you know, you know. I've also never seen my husband devour food like he did, which was the opposite of what I did. I savored every bite and saved some for later because I knew it'd be awhile before I'd ever attempt parking here again, which sucks...because the Redheaded Stranger is SO good. read more

There is absurdity to certain things in the world of cooking. One of them is taking a complete junk food and transforming it into something that is of upmost quality. Redheaded stranger nailed. That horrific artificial combination of obscure lab chemicals called Crunchwrap supreme from Taco Bell has been turned into something truly mind boggling and Redheaded Stranger deserves every bit of credit for pulling it off. The green chili pork inside of these cruchwraps is heavenly. The hand made tortillas are savory. The moment of biting into this absurd creation of humanity is a true realization of what it means to be satisfied, without having to feel any guilt about it. So, yes, Redheaded Stranger might just be Nashville's best restaurant. read more

What a gem in Nashville! I'm so glad i was able to try this spot on the last day of my trip. Their menu is simple but each item is packed with flavor. My favorite thing was the green chile cheeseburger, and their tacos are made with homemade tortillas! We did have to wait a little longer for 4 items than we would have expected, and the ordering system was a little funky (get a small laminated photo as your table identifier). Went on Monday around 11:30 and definitely beat the crowd so be prepared to wait. Parking was a little confusing, tiny lot and wasn't sure if we were actually able to park in the neighborhood or surrounding street parking but we ended up being fine. The cheese is like a more liquid-y cheese with green chiles in and it complimented the burger well. The Crunchwrap was really good, however not as crispy as you might think. The service was appropriate for a casual restaurant. Wished they had some more options for sides or combos meals. Overall a good find and an interesting spot in Nashville. Would come again. Decided to online order from the website. As someone who worked food service I know how much of a pain the DoorDash/Uber Eats thing can be. Pickup was fine, parking in the area is a premium but that's Nashville. We ordered four tacos, queso and a little cake dessert. Not only did they stiff us on a taco completely, but there was a massive hair in another. So our four taco meal turned into a two taco meal. And guess what? If you call, there is absolutely no response. Nothing. Just a Google Voice mailbox that leads nowhere. So to recap, I can't get any sort of reimbursement or credit on the taco we didn't get nor the hairy taco. Online orders are stapled up tight too so it's not like I can verify, I'm assuming someone messed up on the line but c'mon. Absolutely egregious service. So you know what, can't and won't recommend. I found myself here on recommendation of a friend, with said friend, actually. It's a solid breakfast spot (for tacos & burritos). This was my first time coming and I'll definitely be back! There is a small parking lot, so you'll probably end up street parking. I went earlier on a Sunday morning and was able to find street parking easily, but I am assuming parking might be a little harder to find during busier hours. We got there when the line was short but it only got busier! The service was pretty good and staff was friendly. The coffee was good and worth mentioning, I got an iced vanilla latte with oat milk. The breakfast tacos were buss. I tried the #2, #7, and #9. They were all amazing. The chorizo was very good in the #2. The tots were perfectly crispy and nothing was too soggy! First time eating here. Line was short when we arrived but still took awhile to get to the front and order. After ordering it took almost 30 minutes to get our food. Not sure if that is unusual here or not. It did not seem super busy. The food made up for the wait! One of the best burgers I've had- smash burger style, with perfectly crispy edges. Came here on a Tuesday nigh with friends. We waited in line outside while we waited to order. Despite the line wrapping around, I was grateful to see that it was a very short line inside. Nevertheless, it still took a while for us to order as the cashier was also the bartender. When my friends who were ahead of me ordered, each paid and then the cashier would make their drinks before taking care of the next customer. It seemed a bit inefficient to me, and meant that my friends who ordered first waited a while before I could join them since I was the last to order. When it was finally my turn, I had the prickly pear cocktail, No. 2 taco which had chorizo, scrambled eggs, sour cream and the X-Mas style crunch wrap which had pork green chile, red chile, Fritos, pico, queso, jack cheese, whipped feta, refried beans, and Dreamweaver sauce. I thought the food were well seasoned and that the Crunchwrap had the perfect crunch-to-soft ratio. The drink was also very good as it was well balanced and tasty. The first thing I will say is that the place is small so you do have to wait a lot. We came at 2pm and still had to wait in line outside, wait in line inside, and then wait a pretty long time for our food after we'd ordered. Just be prepared. However, the food here is SUPER affordable, the vibes are very laid back and artistic, and the staff is super chatty and sweet. Out of everything, I'd recommend going for the Crunchwraps. Unbelievable. The tacos are good too and I did love the tortillas because they're thick, doughy, and homemade. You literally see the cooks making them. But the tacos were less interesting. Here are my full thoughts: -Xmas Style Crunchwrap: 10/10 - So gooey and cheesy inside, with a lovely crispy layer of cheese on one side of the tortilla. The refried beans are creamy, and the whipped feta just adds a tanginess that takes everything to a whole new level. -Bacon egg and tater tot taco: 7/10 - Good, but didn't wow me. Nothing super special. I liked the texture of the egg with the tots but I felt like it needed more of a kick to it. -Brisket taco: 8/10 - SO flavorful. Literally every bite was a meaty flavor punch. My friend said she had some bites where the brisket was super chewy but I didn't have that problem. -Poblano and whipped feta taco (we added chicken): 7.5/10 - I LOVED the pairing of the feta and the poblano, but the fact that we had to add chicken to get protein was the downside. Just too rude. Former Nashville bar manager here. Foods great. But good lord the passive aggressiveness was just piled on too heavily for me to not say something. Sat at the bar. Told we could order at the bar, the person just needed a heads up to grab an iPad. When we were ready we ended up flagging down someone else who said they couldn't do that for us and we had to order at the counter, which now had a decent line. Normally as the Point of Sale person you ask whether the order is for here or to go. My dad was ordering. That question was not asked so he said "by the way this is to go". The woman checking us out gave a start, like she was surprised. My dad (who, worth noting, is incredibly chill and jovial) asked "is that a problem?" And she responded "would've been nice to know earlier but I can fix it". We're waiting for our food outside, this person walks out and my dad asks "were you able to fix that to-go order?" This is one of my favorite places to eat in Nashville. I hate repeat meals when I'm on vacation, but I can't help but come here multiple times, even on a short trip. The tortillas here are some of the best I've had and their salsas are so unique. The brisket taco is my favorite and I load it up with the curry salsa. I don't think they have anything bad on their menu, and you have to keep an eye out for what they have on special. They also have an AMAZING banana pudding. Boy on boy. After peeking around trying to find a lunch spot for my lady, myself and a friend meeting us, I decided to give this a shot. Reading stuff on here and elsewhere, it came across as if this just wasn't 'what it used to be'. Also on said sites, I saw some suggestions as to 'best items'. Here's what we got, and shared. Brisket taco, Green Chile Double Cheeseburger, Green Chile Pork Totchos, and chili pie. Now, on paper, all of these things have ingredients that I love or dishes that I love. The Brisket Taco, holy cow! This is legit the best brisket I've had outside of Texas. Pair that with a fresh house made tortilla? Sign me up! The only thing that would've made it better to me was some sliced avocado, Matt's El Rancho style. This was easily the best thing I put in my mouth here. The Green Chile Burger was a close second. I've read that this was top 5 burger in Nashville. I can't attest to that but I CAN attest that it was damn good. The Green Chile Pork Totchos, they were fine but I wish I would've gotten brisket on them. Lesson learned. I just love Green Chile Pork and figured the more proteins we try, we can remember for next time. The chili pie was good but I could live without it. Again, Texas. It can spoil you when it comes to certain things. All in all, the three of us were beyond pleased with this choice and can't wait to have it again. If you're looking for a flavor bomb and explosion, this place is for you. All of the food I tried here was bursting with so much flavor where it was salty, sweet, spicy, with slight sour kicks. It was just the whole spectrum of flavors in your mouth. I highly recommend if you want just solid flavorful food. My favorite was the crunchwrap because there was the element of the crispy tortilla and the nice warm filling that was well balanced with meat and veggies. It is definitely the upscaled version of Taco Bell's crunchwrap. I don't think I could ever go back to eating Taco Bell's Crunchwrap after tasting this one. The other food items are good and solid but nothing extra ordinary. The only thing I will say is that their tortilla is actually one of the best flour tortillas Ive had.
