When I was in Nashville, this place was really close to our hotel. I'm so happy we tried it because it's the closest thing to a San Diego. Carne Asada burrito that I found in all of Tennessee.. good price prices, excellent guacamole that actually has cilantro and onions in it. The veggie burrito was loaded.! read more

Great spot for some quick and delicious food Mexican food! I've been here a few times and it has been great every time. Definitely make sure you try the breakfast burrito. It was perfect to eat after a big morning hike with my dog. I also have tried the queso (10/10) and their California burrito, which is huge and super filling. Decent Mexican food in the area but definitely not the best option in town. Food is pretty greasy, but portion size for quesadillas were huge and the food was filling. The quesadillas also come with an avocado and sour cream looking filling inside so beware if you have allergies or any dietary restrictions or preferences. Also the personal size queso is very small!! Not worth $4 in my opinion. Service was super quick and friendly. The inside was clean and the atmosphere was nothing notable, just ok. I was on Elliston so I swung by to grab some lunch. I ordered online, a fish taco and elote no cilantro. Parking was easy and free. I sat in my car for a few minutes and then went in. My food was ready and waiting. After grabbing some napkins, I went back out to my car. I decided to eat my fish taco and it was the blandest taco I've ever had in my life. There was no flavor at all. The pico wasn't anything but some large diced tomatoes. The elote was decent but had too much lime, making it a tad sour. At least it had flavor though. It was a little over $10 for one taco and one elote. I really did not enjoy this and won't be back. read more

What a cool little taco shop in the Vanderbilt area of Nashville. Taco shop reminded me of those in San Diego a little bit of home which felt really good. This place definitely scratches that SoCal burrito itch. We ordered two burritos; a California burrito and beef burrito with beans and rice. The Cali burrito was on point and filled with crispy fries, steak, guacamole and some other goodies. This baby was huge and weighed at least a pound! The beef burrito was good, but we felt like it was mostly filled with beans and rice. This burrito was huge as well and I feel like that's the case for all of their burritos. The Korean beef taco was tasty, but lacked any sort of discernible Korean flavors. I would definitely come back to Oscars and I when I do, the Hot Cheeto Burrito is going down! read more

It was like it was just all thrown on a tortilla, flipped once for color and thrown in a styrofoam container. It didn't help that it was delivered extremely late by Ubereats so it was also cold. But it's a quesadilla so figured it would be ok. I was wrong. There was even a 2 for 1 special which might have been a red flag but i ordered anyway. Heard good things about this place but was disappointed. I couldn't decided between a burrito, burrito bowl and a quesadilla and the cashier recommended the burrito bowl so that's what I got. There was a little bit of rice and beans at the bottom but the majority of the bowl was sour cream. The parking lot is pretty small but there was plenty of indoor seating and the service was fast. If I were to go back next time I would definitely try a burrito or quesadilla instead. read more

In this picture are my two absolute favorite foods on the menu. The korean BBQ taco is so flavorful and well balanced I've ordered a plate of 5 of them in the past. The carne asada fries have been my recent go-to, as the fries are fresh and crispy and loaded with all the toppings as you can see. My husband and I are from California, and we've been missing great Mexican food. We came here on a suggestion of my colleague, who is also from California. We immediately walked in and we're surrounded by several Vanderbilt students. We waited in line for a bit, but it was worth it. My husband got the carne asada, shrimp, al pastor, and chicken tacos, while I got the surf and turf nachos. We're gluten free and we're quite pleased that all of this used corn tortillas. The food was delicious! It immediately took us back to real authentic Mexican food, given that the owners are from San Diego. We loved it all. Stopped by this newly opened Oscar's (opened this past Monday) near Vandy's campus. I'd heard great things about the downtown location and was eager to try it for myself. My husband and I didn't even realize this had opened because it now occupies the old Blue Moon spot off of Elliston. We stopped in for take-out (thanks COVID...not) and were NOT let down. The inside still has the Blue Mood decor, but we were told that they're going to change it up. We also heard that they're going to install a bar (whoop whoop!). Hubby and I ordered fajitas, a chimichanga, and some churros. All of it was absolutely DELICIOUS!! Living close to this place is going to be dangerous. My husband said the chimichanga was in his top 2 favorites (the top being from a place back in Michigan that's no longer open lol). I can't wait to stop into this place again and see the progress once they change it around. The prices are great, the food is delicious, and the people that work there are kind and welcoming. This place is very convenient and tasty. I can get on the app and grab my breakfast burrito when I am always in a rush before work. They are always fast and efficient when it comes to their service. Ambience is what you would expect from a Tex mex place. They give large portions so you are always satisfied. The chorizo breakfast burrito is my go to item from here. I now see why this place doesn't have the best reviews, wish I never tried it. The food is just average but the customer service is seriously lacking. Placed an order online and received a phone call that they're actually out of the elote--no big deal, thanks for the heads-up. They asked if I wanted anything to replace it and I said no since I already ordered everything I wanted. I assumed this would mean I wouldn't be charged for the elote since I didn't receive that or a substitute, since I didn't want one. However, I realized I was charged for the elote anyway. It wasn't until I called back that they clarified that they can't actually refund the elote charge which is why they offered me a replacement BUT NEVER TOLD ME THAT I WOULDN'T BE GETTING MY MONEY BACK EITHER WAY! If they would have just told me it's easier for me to just pick something else out I would have but instead they operate under super shady business practices and are very unprofessional. The lady was unapologetic so I'm guessing they do this often, be sure to double-check your receipt! On top of this they forgot my Diet Coke but I just decided to cut my losses and not go back to this sketchy establishment to squabble over what would end up being less than $10-hope it was worth losing a customer over! read more
