My girlfriend and I were in town for the night and stayed close to Vanderbilt. Oscar's was right across the street from our hotel and offered a quick place to grab a bite. Ambiance was pleasant and the service was rather quick. However, it was the food that blew us away! I ordered the Deluxe Burrito and my girlfriend ordered the Street Tacos. Both portions were huge and hit the spot after a long day of traveling. We definitely recommend Oscar's Taco Shop! read more

Picked up our order for lunch. It was ready on time. Everything was good - the rolled tacos, the chips and guacamole, the sauces and the churro. We will definitely be back for more lunches here. Hot, fast, fresh, what more can you ask for? read more

Great spot for some quick and delicious food Mexican food! I've been here a few times and it has been great every time. Definitely make sure you try the breakfast burrito. It was perfect to eat after a big morning hike with my dog. I also have tried the queso (10/10) and their California burrito, which is huge and super filling. Also love their chicken quesadillas when I'm in a tight time jam and just want something quick. The staff is great whether you're dining in or getting take out. It's typically filled with kids from Vandy, but still a decent spot to eat in without chaos! read more

I rarely leave reviews but this one deserves it. I ordered the taco bowl. Beef seasoned perfectly NOT too salty but just right. Fresh tomatoes and rice/ lettuce. Again not too much lettuce but just right. The shell was crispy. I can't wait to try their crispy tacos next time. Oscars hits. read more

When I was in Nashville, this place was really close to our hotel. I'm so happy we tried it because it's the closest thing to a San Diego. Carne Asada burrito that I found in all of Tennessee.. good price prices, excellent guacamole that actually has cilantro and onions in it. The veggie burrito was loaded.! read more

Food was great, quality and portion size were in point, plus it was right across the street from the hotel.

I'm from San Diego so I honestly wasn't expecting too much when we came here. But I was pleasantly surprised. The food was good. And the staff were super friendly and kind! They were so sweet with my kids. read more

This was the 3rd time we've eaten here and as always it was amazing. The food is always consistent, they have the best freshly made chips and salsa. read more

Decent Mexican food in the area but definitely not the best option in town. Food is pretty greasy, but portion size for quesadillas were huge and the food was filling. The quesadillas also come with an avocado and sour cream looking filling inside so beware if you have allergies or any dietary restrictions or preferences. Also the personal size queso is very small!! Not worth $4 in my opinion. Service was super quick and friendly. The inside was clean and the atmosphere was nothing notable, just ok. Overall: not my top pick in Nashville when craving Mexican food but not the worst in town either. read more

I was on Elliston so I swung by to grab some lunch. I ordered online, a fish taco and elote no cilantro. Parking was easy and free. I sat in my car for a few minutes and then went in. My food was ready and waiting. After grabbing some napkins, I went back out to my car. I decided to eat my fish taco and it was the blandest taco I've ever had in my life. There was no flavor at all. The pico wasn't anything but some large diced tomatoes. The elote was decent but had too much lime, making it a tad sour. At least it had flavor though. It was a little over $10 for one taco and one elote. I really did not enjoy this and won't be back. read more

So the tacos were great like last time. The service was worse- last time they had no dr, pepper. This time the didn't have dr.pepper or cherry Pepsi . 3.5 stars read more

What a cool little taco shop in the Vanderbilt area of Nashville. Taco shop reminded me of those in San Diego a little bit of home which felt really good. I tried the roll tacos, which were crispy and full of meat and all the toppings. The Carne Asada Burrito was straight out of SoCal, meat, pico and guacamole. I will definitely be visiting this spot every time I'm in Nashville! read more

I didn't enjoy my food, it wasn't very flavorful. I ordered a chicken street burrito and it was sad. The chicken was unseasoned and even adding extra sauce didn't help. Also, the place wasn't decorated very well. However, the staff was nice. read more

This place definitely scratches that SoCal burrito itch. We ordered two burritos; a California burrito and beef burrito with beans and rice. The Cali burrito was on point and filled with crispy fries, steak, guacamole and some other goodies. This baby was huge and weighed at least a pound! The beef burrito was good, but we felt like it was mostly filled with beans and rice. This burrito was huge as well and I feel like that's the case for all of their burritos. The Korean beef taco was tasty, but lacked any sort of discernible Korean flavors. I would definitely come back to Oscars and I when I do, the Hot Cheeto Burrito is going down! read more

I never knew someone could mess up a basic quesadilla. Chicken, cheese, beans and rice. It was completely inedible. It was like it was just all thrown on a tortilla, flipped once for color and thrown in a styrofoam container. It didn't help that it was delivered extremely late by Ubereats so it was also cold. But it's a quesadilla so figured it would be ok. I was wrong. There was even a 2 for 1 special which might have been a red flag but i ordered anyway. As you can see in the photo, we didn't touch the second one, nor finish the first one. Very disappointed as this place was recommended so i tried despite the reviews i read. read more

Eek. I was excited to try this place. It looked & felt so authentic. The vegetarian taco was good, but I also had a pollo asada taco that had a bone in it! It definitely freaked me out. I didn't finish the taco & it kind of ruined my experience there. I should have just stuck with the vegetarian taco. Pico was fresh & staff seemed nice. read more

Heard good things about this place but was disappointed. I couldn't decided between a burrito, burrito bowl and a quesadilla and the cashier recommended the burrito bowl so that's what I got. There was a little bit of rice and beans at the bottom but the majority of the bowl was sour cream. The parking lot is pretty small but there was plenty of indoor seating and the service was fast. If I were to go back next time I would definitely try a burrito or quesadilla instead. read more

Closest thing to the California style Mexican food I can get back in Southern California. The quesadilla portion is huge. The variations of asada fries are a great portion as well. My husband and I are from California, and we've been missing great Mexican food. We came here on a suggestion of my colleague, who is also from California. We immediately walked in and we're surrounded by several Vanderbilt students. We waited in line for a bit, but it was worth it. My husband got the carne asada, shrimp, al pastor, and chicken tacos, while I got the surf and turf nachos. We're gluten free and we're quite pleased that all of this used corn tortillas. The food was delicious! It immediately took us back to real authentic Mexican food, given that the owners are from San Diego. We loved it all. The tacos were super flavorful, and the nachos hit the spot. This place willy definitely be our go-to Mexican spot here in Nashville! read more

This place is not my jam. Nothing terrible to report but the food to me is along the lines of chipotle or other Mexican places that aren't true Mexican flavors. The service was friendly but for me the food is not what I would prefer to eat with authentic flavors and meats(lengua, barbacoa, etc..) read more

In this picture are my two absolute favorite foods on the menu. The korean BBQ taco is so flavorful and well balanced I've ordered a plate of 5 of them in the past. The carne asada fries have been my recent go-to, as the fries are fresh and crispy and loaded with all the toppings as you can see. I wish the margarita prices hadn't doubled over the past years but I will definitely be a customer for the food in the future. read more

Stopped by this newly opened Oscar's (opened this past Monday) near Vandy's campus. I'd heard great things about the downtown location and was eager to try it for myself. My husband and I didn't even realize this had opened because it now occupies the old Blue Moon spot off of Elliston. We stopped in for take-out (thanks COVID...not) and were NOT let down. The inside still has the Blue Mood decor, but we were told that they're going to change it up. We also heard that they're going to install a bar (whoop whoop!). Hubby and I ordered fajitas, a chimichanga, and some churros. All of it was absolutely DELICIOUS!! Living close to this place is going to be dangerous. My husband said the chimichanga was in his top 2 favorites (the top being from a place back in Michigan that's no longer open lol). I can't wait to stop into this place again and see the progress once they change it around. The prices are great, the food is delicious, and the people that work there are kind and welcoming. This is the kind of business I LOVE having in our neighborhood. read more

I now see why this place doesn't have the best reviews, wish I never tried it. The food is just average but the customer service is seriously lacking. Placed an order online and received a phone call that they're actually out of the elote--no big deal, thanks for the heads-up. They asked if I wanted anything to replace it and I said no since I already ordered everything I wanted. I assumed this would mean I wouldn't be charged for the elote since I didn't receive that or a substitute, since I didn't want one. However, I realized I was charged for the elote anyway. It wasn't until I called back that they clarified that they can't actually refund the elote charge which is why they offered me a replacement BUT NEVER TOLD ME THAT I WOULDN'T BE GETTING MY MONEY BACK EITHER WAY! If they would have just told me it's easier for me to just pick something else out I would have but instead they operate under super shady business practices and are very unprofessional. The lady was unapologetic so I'm guessing they do this often, be sure to double-check your receipt! On top of this they forgot my Diet Coke but I just decided to cut my losses and not go back to this sketchy establishment to squabble over what would end up being less than $10-hope it was worth losing a customer over! read more
