It makes me wonder who all the condo buildings in the city are going to. Anyway, the guy who came out was very professional and well spoken. He called us back right away and was prompt. He knew what he was talking about and quoted us a fair price. However, that's where this story takes a turn... Luckily we only got a run of fence in the back. Because it looks like crap. It almost seems like some people from a welding 101 class did the work. We also had some mesh installed around all the door handles. When you gently pushed on them, they came off. I'm guessing they spot welded 3 or 4 points rather than the 20 or so each one needed. They were also going to fix a few bent finnials on the front and attach another piece to a front gate. This wasn't done. I figured that we'd never see them again, but I called and complained and got some people out the very next day to re-do the mesh welds. Perhaps it was because I let him know that the crew left a large sheet of metal mesh at our house that was probably pretty pricey? After all of this, I'd still probably give them two stars because at least dealing with the office was fine. However, once we had a locksmith come out to install locks, he pointed out that not only was the piece of metal that goes in front of the lock to prevent break-ins on the wrong side of the fence, the area around each lock is so jacked up that the doors only stay closed if you lock the gate using an extra long dead bolt. I wish we would have never gotten an estimate...

In addition, our gangway gate was crooked, so it would not close and lock. I called for a quote and Rodrigo came out (If I remember correctly) the same day. I had gotten a total of 3 quotes for this work, and although Pro Fence was not the least expensive, I went with their company and am very happy. Due to bad weather, had to reschedule a couple times, but Rodrigo kept in good contact and was easily reachable when necessary. The rescheduling was necessary due to the dry time needed for the paint (so it wouldn't bubble from the rain). I appreciated their concern with doing the job correctly, and didn't mind the rescheduling. The fence was sanded and painted and looks great! I am very pleased with the job. I only wish others had had a similar experience to mine.

Marcin does fabulous work. He is a perfectionist and it shows. We have had him complete five jobs…read morefor us over the past year: (1) repairing interior water damage to a celling; (2) reconstructing two of our decks; (3) removing and installing a new exterior door; and (4) remodeling our roof deck. Marcin took the time to go over the process in detail and took our concerns into consideration. In particular, we did not want to waste materials when reconstructing two of our decks. Marcin saved as many deck boards as he could, replacing them with new boards only when necessary, which saved us money. One of the best things about Marcin is that he is incredibly responsive to phone calls and emails. Also, he treated our home like his home... perpetually cleaning up after himself and leaving no trace that he was there when I got home from work. In designing our roof deck, Marcin and I worked very well together. He listened intently to how I wanted the deck designed and constructed and in response offered up solutions and ideas that fit precisely with my vision. Not only is Marcin a talented carpenter, he also has a great eye for design, which helps when you are looking to save money and already have a design in mind. He told me he would bring me three options for decking material, and instead brought me seven, all at different price points. The work Marcin does looks EXPENSIVE. As previously noted, he is a perfectionist and it shows in his work. He truly cares about each and every project he works on and his work product is definitely a reflection of who he is as a person. The day that they poured the owner had a tantrum and crumpled up the whole thing and left it in a bigger mess than it should have been. This was the Thursday before Labor Day weekend. After we notified him that he was done and that we would be finding another concrete company he offered to get a concrete truck. This was too late. Labor Day weekend we were left with a horrible mess.

We spent many, many hours selecting options, discussing with their team, over the course of weeks. We worked through the details of the allowances, agreeing prices for each item. Then, the day after the attorney review period expired (fully one month of work into the project) the owner informed us he was canceling the contract. He never explained why but we found out: He sold the house - with all our carefully selected improvements - to another buyer for $15k more. We were left with over $1,000 in expenses and NO HOUSE. Bitter? Yes, I am. Could I have sued to enforce our agreement? I suppose so. But when you find out your contractor is a sleazeball, better to let them slip back into the muck. Lesson: There are plenty of fish in the sea. Throw this one back and keep fishing.
