I chose Firehouse Movers because of their glowing Google reviews, and their initial estimate was very competitive. Unfortunately, the final bill was a complete shock. To begin with, they insisted on a virtual estimate and refused to come out in person and assess the job. This was a 5000 sq ft home full of furniture, and I wanted the most accurate estimate possible. I asked multiple times for an in-person estimate, but my requests were declined. By moving day, I had sold two-bedroom sets and several other large pieces of furniture that were included in the original estimate. Even with significantly fewer items to move, the final price was more than double the original estimate. On the day of the move, I somehow went from needing two trucks, as stated in the estimate, to four. And from 9 to 17 total man hours. At the end of a long day, my husband just wanted them gone, so he reluctantly paid the bill before they could log anymore hours. When I called to discuss the bill, Firehouse claimed I had verbally approved the additional associated costs over the phone, citing a recording, which was completely false. I have asked multiple times for this recording, but I have not received it. That was not a small miscalculation. Our move was grossly underestimated. This whole experience felt misleading and dishonest. Stay away.

I contacted the national 1-800 number and the best they can do is open a ticket with the property manager and tell me I should hear back within 24 hours. I did an emergency vacate of my unit and will never recommend this place to anyone! Service - non-existent each time I ever call them including this incident, no answer Environment - lights were broken in hallway for several weeks... but eventually fixed Door locks on climate control building - you can only get them from management, not in the app. Climate control does not mean pest control.

Okay time for a rant :…read more NEVER.... I REPEAT : NEVER RENT FROM ISTORAGE STORAGE UNITS! EVER! I don't care what location you choose or where you are. This is by far the absolute WORST experience I've ever had. And now that I am finally able to get my stuff off of their property I plan on letting everyone know the insanity that has been my experience. I came to my unit in February to open it to find that there are rodent feces in my unit. I reached out to the property manager (no call back), the corporate office, and requested a call from the area manager. I get it. It's a outdoor unit things happen. Critters get in. I was told I'd get a call from a area manager. Never happened. I called back. Nothing. I escalated my ticket. Nothing. When I finally got in touch with the property manager she told me I was locked out of my unit and my locks been cut. Would not and could not tell me why. Or what was going on. I told her I wanted to move off of this property immediately. She said well your March rent is due so you have to pay that first. We're still in February. I am not going to pay a entire month for something I plan on getting off property immediately. No call back. I go to the property and my code does not work to get on to the property. No manager on site. Call corporate. Well we're not showing you're locked out of your unit and we're not showing that a lock has been cut. Ok then why did the manager tell me it was. "I don't know" they replied. " we're not showing that your account should have any locks or holds on it at all". Asked to be escalated and explained that I still haven't spoken to a area or regional manager. This goes on for weeks. I tried to come to the property during office hours. No one is ever here. I've placed 37 phone calls with their corporate office and 87 calls to their office and manager. I've never received a call or email back at all. Today. It took me having to call the police and the code compliance for the city of carrollton for istorage to get someone out here (after me physically sitting on property for 3 hours) for them to send someone from their dallas property to come let me through the gate and then prove that they have put a new lock on my unit and get them to remove the lock. I've asked for a refund for the month of March as this is the 2nd time I've been here with a U-Haul and movers to move off this property and they have said no. That it's not their problem. I'm finally moving out of this unit and will make sure that I let everyone know about this complete horrendous situation and experience and absolute lack of customer service and holding my property hostage.
