I had never checked my eyes but was pretty sure it was time for glasses. My kids had been into see Dr K and he is very personable and gave a thorough exam with great explanations. I paid the $50 upcharge for increased eye testing and $300 for an eye exam that was not covered by my PPO insurance. I received my prescription and got in promptly for a contact lens fitting session for another $250. This office has you sign an agreement which should have been my next clue that I maybe should have looked elsewhere for an Optometrist if was worried about cost or service. After about 15 minutes of my fitting/Training, I struggled to get the lens out as did the training lady and Dr K assisted in removing the lens and did a great job. At that point, I asked for a partial refund and decide to review glasses instead of contacts at a future appointment. They showed me frames from $250-500 and I declined after getting very limited feedback as I asked questions about frames, styles, weights etc based on never wearing glasses before and what seemed like really high costs. I just went to Warby Parker, got excellent service, they described each frame and showed me tons of options and colors at a much different price point. Dr K graciously offered to refund me $50 of the $250 for the failed contact fitting. Nice doctor, nice office and staff, but very high costs for service and product. I made the mistake of not shopping around and will not be back to this office. read more

The visit process and the post-visit follow-up was smooth, and the staff helped me with my contact order and they are super on top of things, and communicated with me via text which I love. After two times visiting the office and explaining to 3 people even to the Dr they made useless lenses and when I told them I cannot use the glasses they asked for more money to correct their mistakes. Wow! I came in recently for a regular check up and was so impressed with Dr. Gregory Kraskowsky and the entire team at Alamo Optometry. A couple of reasons why: 1. Scheduling an appointment was a breeze! They were able to get me in quickly and took some basic information over the phone. It made registration much easier when I came in for my appointment. 2. Everyone was so friendly! Rita was very helpful and greeted me with a smile, Dr. K put me at ease even though I was nervous and hadn't had my eyes checked in some time. 3. Follow-up! I received a very nice note after my appointment. Wonderful, professional, customer service like this just isn't very common anymore. My first eye appointment ever was with Dr. K and I LOVE this office! I did a lot of research and went through reviews online before choosing their office and I am glad that I came across them. They are friendly, informative, outgoing and really do a great job of answering any questions you have and making you feel comfortable and relaxed at your appointment! I procrastinated to have my eyes checked for years because I did not want to walk away with a prescription for glasses. For reference, three decades ago I had been told I needed glasses on two separate occasions. I don't wear glasses now and take care of my eyes. I finally decided it had been too long and based on Yelp reviews and proximity to my home, I made an appointment at Alamo Optometry. The booking appointment process was very efficient as they clear the insurance paperwork prior to the appointment. The appointment itself was extremely thorough and educational. Dr K is a lovely person who knows his area of expertise and listens to his patient and makes sure concerns are heard and addressed. There is no hard sales pitch on eyewear or any services. Based on this experience, I will be going to have my eyes checked annually. No glasses for me yet! read more

Went in for an eye exam and was pressured into additional eye tests that were not only not medically necessary but was asked during the exam when I was just trying to understand what they were doing and why. Insurance would not cover and there only advice was that the Dr. recommend the test. A$40 up-sale for no good reason other then to pad their receipts. They said they would again check with our insurance and call me back the next day but failed to that too. In days where health care is being blamed for being part of the problem for high costs, this outfit is one of the reasons. Very disappointing and will not be trusted as they are out for their own profit first. read more

My experience with this office was horrendous, and the front office woman was rude and condescending. I would not recommend seeing this doctor! I made an appointment as a new patient for a simple check to get an updated prescription for a contact lens. I had recently had mono vision LASIK and my ophthalmologist had said I was able to get fitted for a contact I needed to play sports on the day of my appointment. I showed up at my appointment time and was told to fill out paperwork. After 15 minutes of waiting, the front office woman (who annoyingly kept calling me "dear") told me that the doctor couldn't see me. When I asked why, she said they didn't have the paperwork they needed and she admitted that it was her fault that she hadn't gotten what she needed before my appointment "sorry, it's my mistake; it just slipped through the cracks". I said I would wait while she collected the paperwork she needed. After 5 minutes, she said "your appointment time is up and we will have to reschedule". After more frustrating conversation, I said that I hoped she would find a way to get me in since it was their error in not being prepared for my visit. After 15 more minutes of waiting, she finally came out and said the doctor wouldn't see me as he wasn't "comfortable seeing me" as my eyes were sore. What? I told her my eyes were NOT sore. This was a note in the paperwork immediately after the LASIK procedure, which is totally normal! The bottom line is that "Dr. K.", never even bothered to come out and speak with me himself about any of this. He didn't have the decency, the professionalism or the courtesy to come speak with a potential new patient. Shame on him. His rude receptionist relayed all of this information. This was my first time in the office and it will certainly be my last. read more

I have been going to see Dr. K since we moved to this area about 2 years ago and I absolutely love him and this office!! Dr. K is very thorough and knowledgeable, but he also has a sense of humor, which is very refreshing. They have been understanding when I've had to reschedule appointments at the last minute due to kid illnesses or last minute obligations. At my last visit, I got glasses and when I went to pick them up, they told me they actually owed me $30 because of an insurance miscalculation! How often does that happen?? They also sent me off with a bunch of samples cleaners for my contact lenses (which are expensive at Target) and told me to come back any time for more. I know its odd to say having an eye appointment is a pleasant or fun experience, but it actually is with Dr. K! Highly recommend them!! read more

Dr. K was very thorough and very professional. That I do like and you feel rushed out of there. He really takes the time to answer any questions you may have. I was very impressed that he also would go over what my insurance covers and what options I have. Most of the time usually it's the staff that have this discussion and sometime the information is convoluted. This is not your kmart/Costco brand of glasses so you will be dropping some money on their selections (if you choose to select their frames). Just saw Dr. K last Saturday. Our family recently moved to Danville. I originally saw an optometrist a couple of months ago in Danville. I was not satisfied. I couldn't see from my trial pair of contact lenses and while they were supposed to be monovision lenses, it does not appear that was the case. Dr. K took time to explain the options that I had for contact lenses and noted what would most likely work for me. I walked out of there with a trial pair of monovision lenses, and so far, so good. I also ordered glasses on Saturday, which I was reluctant to do immediately at the other optometrist's office. My instincts are good, and something told me to hold off on ordering glasses until I found the right optometrist. Dr. K is the right optometrist! Dr. K is very thorough with his exam, explains in detail and asks you frequently if you have any questions. He also picked up the phone himself (this was on a Saturday, probably after Rita left) as well as called me personally on Monday to update the status regarding my insurance. As a small business owner myself, I appreciate the personal touches that he gives his patients and for being down to earth. So, now, our family has found an experienced, knowledgeable, and fun optometrist who treats patients well and provides excellent vision care! What more can you ask for?
