I love Dr. Wong. She is so nice and very thorough, explains what she's doing and why she's doing it, and really listens. I've had a recurring painful eye issue that's been driving me crazy. I recently visited an ophthalmologist with the hope that he'd help me resolve the issue. Long story short, he did not. Not even close. I explained my symptoms to Dr. Wong during my annual eye exam. She examined both of my eyes closely based on my comments and diagnosed the issue pretty quickly. I am so thankful that she gave my poor painful eye the attention it needed. I also really appreciated all the covid-19 precautions everyone in the office took. They went above and beyond to make it clear that all equipment had been cleaned before I used it, to wash their hands frequently, etc. A+. read more

Dr. Nathan Orr is kind, patient, understanding, and explains my eye diagnosis and treatments clearly in layman terms that I understand. When we discovered cataracts and glaucoma, he does not leap to treatments immediately, rather he monitors and partners with me going forward. Now I need cataract surgery. Dr. Orr explains the pros and cons of the different lens choices. When I was still unsure about whether I should choose to wear glasses for distance or for reading, he gave me a free consultation session. In his office, he patiently demonstrated to me with contact lenses what the post surgery vision would be like. Now I am confident and happy with my choice of monofocal lenses correcting for distance. This is such a great shop. The doctors are so nice and actually spend time educating you on your eye health. I like how they schedule you for getting contacts or glasses. It keeps you from waiting around to be helped. My contacts and glasses arrived pretty quickly. The office staff are very friendly and even filled out the forms for me to get a rebate on my contacts. They are a VSP preferred provider. They also have a great selection of frames. I'm happy I am a new patient! read more

Zero stars. In December I had a thorough eye exam at Lamorinda Optometry to the tune of $200 because I had been getting splitting headaches. Dr Orr said that everything looked good and that he was tweeking my prescription just a bit. Soon thereafter, I was thrilled to find a cool pair of frames (never from LO) and I proceeded to get the lenses made (also never thru LO). Upon receipt of said lenses (progressives, transition, anti-glare) I immediately realized that the prescription was completely wrong. I could only see clearly through the very bottom, as if reading with "cheaters". The rest of the lens was like looking thru no lens at all: very blurry. I have just returned the glasses to LO and they admit that the prescription was written out incorrectly! And that I will not receive a refund. And what I must do is contact the lab for a "One time Dr. re-do". Linda has told me that "most labs" will refill the new prescription, hopefully with no charge to me. Hopefully. What a racket. LO (& I assume all optometrists) takes no responsibility for the incorrect prescription, and I have all stress. Buyer beware, always. And of course they have lost a repeat customer. Lamorinda Optimetry has been taking care of my family and I for many years. They have always provided exceptional service, so I am not surprised at what happened this afternoon! I broke my 1.5 year old glasses, went down to see if they could be repaired and i fortunately they were not. I have to give one star due to the fact that I had a severe reaction to the eye drops the optometrist administered in my eyes. As a medical professional I felt the care for my condition was poor and they blamed me (ie. dehydrated, did you eat before you came here) for whatever they can drum up because of the reaction. I had to call 9-1-1 to get some professional attention to the issue which they were unhappy about. The reaction subsided after an hour and never had a follow up call to acknowledge the reaction. I need to finish up the rest of the exam and still iy did not register to them until I brought it up. Later in the week I discussed the issue with another optometrist and confirmed the reaction is a common occurrence with the preservative. read more

I saw Dr. Wong. I had not been to an eye doctor in two years. I found the service very professional and honest. They lowered my prescription to make sure the change in vision wouldn't be uncomfortable. Dr. Wong was very thorough and made sure that my eyes were healthy. Excellent service! I got my glasses there about a year ago. I found some designer brand eyeglasses in Berkeley, but the Berkeley store didn't take my eye insurance. So I was glad to see that Lamorinda had them. I don't think they were more expensive and with the insurance it was a great savings. I took them back a couple of times as the frames got bent and they cheerfully fixed them for no charge, taking them completely apart and putting them back together. The second time, they noticed a small crack in the glass. The doctor (Mario) offered to try and get the manufacturer to replace them. I didn[t even have to ask. He was successful and now I have a new pair of frames. read more

The staff was very nice, the appointment itself was a very pleasant--even relaxing--experience, and Dr. Baker could write a book on how physicians should interact with their patients. He's down to earth, patient, and makes the effort to explain what he's recommending and why. I've been coming here for 15 years. The staff is professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Baker has seen me through contacts, glasses and LASIK. I've seen Dr. Orr most lately due to schedules and he is also top notch. Last month I asked for an emergency appointment because I thought I might have something in my eye. They fit me in no problem and Dr. Orr painlessly removed a facial scrub bead from my inner eyelid (warning to those who use those scrubs). After years of reading Yelp reviews this is the first one I've actually taken the time to write and it is Dr. Orr that inspired it! I've had dry eye issues for a long time likely due to two LASIK surgeries including a corrective touch up done two years ago that really exacerbated the situation. Recently my eyes had become so dry that they were literally red where they should be white, despite frequently using moisturizing eye drops. At about 2 pm on a Friday I realized they were SO bad that there as no way I could go to the wedding id planned to attend the following day...it seemed like I had an infection. I started searching for eye doctors on Yelp and Lamorinda Optometrics came up with some good reviews. I quickly researched Dr. Orr and saw that he went to Cal and was the number one student in his graduating class. Impressive. I was familiar with his office, having bought prescription sunglasses there a few yrs ago. I immediately called to plead for an emergency/squeeze-in appointment. Stella took my call and was amazing. She listened carefully, asked questions and made it clear she wanted to fully understood the situation, taking notes that she would share with the doctor to see what they could do on a busy Friday afternoon. She called back as promised in five minutes and said to come right down and they would somehow make it happen. I couldn't believe it ... I honestly cannot recall a medical office ever being so intent upon helping out in a desperate situation like this, especially when I hadn't been there in a few years. I was seen almost immediately upon arrival. First a work up by the excellent staff who were kind enough to spare me the air-puff test when I couldn't relax enough to get my eyes to stop watering. (Dr. Orr personally did it at end of my appt). Dr. Orr then thoroughly examined my eyes, concluding that while they were as dry as eyes could be, he didn't see signs of an infection. My eyes were simply reacting to the ongoing dryness, worsened by recent eyelid surgery. He determined that one eye didn't fully close every time I blinked, leaving it particularly irritated. Dr. Orr knew exactly what to do...he provided me the most useful eye drops I have ever used, a medicated drop that was both a strong anti inflammatory and contained a mild antibiotic. He gave careful instructions on their use, and directed me to call him immediately if I had any sort of painful or blurred vision type of reaction. He also introduced me to a type of single use eye drops which are exponentially more viscous than the OTC Refresh plus drops I'd been using, and therefore much longer lasting. They're called "Oasis." At the start of my appointment, I had asked Dr. Orr about tear duct plugs I recently read about as a possible long term solution to chronically dry eyes. He was knowledgeable on the topic. By the end of the appointment he agreed I would be a good candidate for these. We made a follow up appointment for Tuesday to check on my eyes and evaluate me for the duct plugs. My eyes were noticeably better by bedtime that night. Dr. Orr called me twice the next morning to see how my eyes were doing -- I didn't hear my phone so missed his first call and voicemail...but he tried again before I noticed the message. He was genuinely concerned and asked a lot of questions, then reminded me that the drops were powerful and shouldn't be used any longer than necessary. I happily reported that my eyes were nearly clear and felt a lot better with the Oasis drops he'd recommended. Off to the wedding I went, thanks to Dr. Orr. At my follow up appointment, Dr. Orr determined that the smallest duct plugs he had on hand were too small for my eyes. He had spent considerable time with me trying to see if they would work before reaching this conclusion. He even agreed to try to insert the plug into the other eye even though he likely knew it wouldn't work. He was patient and extremely knowledgeable; we discussed other treatments to be used in conjunction or in lieu of, if the duct plugs didn't completely resolve the issue. I wasn't charged for the visit and was told his staff would contact me when the smaller size came in. I can't wait to try these and have complete confidence that if they do not work as hoped Dr. Orr will find what does work. Highly recommend this office and Dr. Orr in particular. read more
