I learned that daily contacts are healthier for my eyes than my old monthly lenses. They showed me how much buildup there was in my monthly lenses... it's hard to manage them every day! I strongly recommend that you select a different office for your optometry needs. I've been working with same optometrist for over a decade. She switched to Vision Dynamics, but recently changed offices. While my OD was fantastic, there were always issues with the office: placed on hold, voicemail, text messaging with no response, could not find my file, took weeks to get sample contacts, etc. I recently realized that I needed more contacts. I was informed by Costco that my Rx had expired by one month. I contacted Vision Dynamics to get a short extension so that I could order contacts in parallel with making an appointment. I was told no. When I asked for an optometrist/owner to contact me, I instead received another voicemail from office staff. The message was no. In sum, I strongly recommend that you choose another office. One star is being gracious. read more

In January of 2023, my son broke one of his lenses and we contacted the office to request a replacement. Since we had an upcoming appointment scheduled for March, during which we typically would have gotten a new pair of lenses, we inquired about paying for only two lenses instead of one now and one later. The office informed us that we could order the lens directly and receive credit when we needed the new pair. However, when we arrived for our March appointment, they refused to honor the credit, stating that it had a 60-day expiration and that no one had mentioned this previously. The clinic had been sold to a new owner, and the doctor and manager did not fulfill their promise. read more

Not sure what's going on at VDO. You go online to schedule an appointment and get an e-mail shortly after that it's cancelled. You call, and they give you excuses about Dr. availability and they can put you on a wait-list, but they can't even tell you when they can put you on the list. Been going there for several years. Dr Wong is engaging and explained each step of her exam, answering all my questions. No eye dialation because Vision Dynamics has the latest equipment for testing eyes. I've gone to Vision Dynamics for years. Dr. Lin has sold the practice. Dr. Lin is not going to be available for months. Dr. Lee is now working at Briones Eyecare. When I called VD to have my records transferred to Briones, I was told it would take a week because the request had to be approved by a doctor. This seems excessive. read more

This optometry center is great! Extremely thorough from the second you walk in the door. Reception covers all copayments, so you know why to expect at the end of the appointment, and ensures everyone is safe for entry during covid. The technicians explain all the testing and make patients feel at ease during all of it, really appreciate that I know what's going on throughout the testing- don't like getting caught off guard. And the exam itself is great, Dr Lew and Lin are very informative and helpful! And the optical area is always clean and well presented. I love the eye doctors here but the "reception" staff makes me want to change optometrists EVERY year! They will email, text and call you to get you in for your exam, they will gladly take thousands of dollars from you and your insurance company but god forbid you need something from them, and there is no accountability or follow through. How difficult is it to return an phone call? How hard is it to email receipts, when you say you will email receipts? How difficult is it to follow up when you say you are going to follow up (when they screw up your glasses and your glasses are delayed from the lab) ? Every year there is someone new at the front desk and every year it is something thing. Not sure why the office just can't simply get it together. read more

I not very happy about the service I received at Vision Dynamics. After I saw the doctor this older lady took over and it was all down hill after that. First I asked about booking an appointment for my next year appointment on a Saturday. Which she said she couldn't book for Saturdays at all. And that I would have to call at that time to book an appointment. It seems that just smiling at me was going to be impossible. I asked her other questions but she didn't seem to want to help me with anything. I called later that same day and talked with someone else and they said I could book an appointment next year even on a Saturday. Then after three weeks of waiting for my glasses to come in and no phone call. I called them, and the glasses were in. But, I had to setup an appointment ahead of time to pick them up. I've never had to do that anywhere else. The doctor that I saw was nice and helpful, but this old lady I hope I never have to deal with her again. Then after I received my glasses I went back a few days to get the glasses adjusted properly. Unfortunately the person I had to deal with was the old lady. She had the nerve to tell me just don't diddle with my glasses. This person is really bad at dealing with people on many levels. read more

Last year they screwed up my new prescription lens and it took another month to settle. This year I was 11 mins late to an appointment to only learn that they have a 10min late policy and then they require you to reschedule and will charge you for a missed appointment. The last time I checked, there are as many Optometrist as there are Cleaners. They should be striving to keep customers, not turn them away. I proceeded to let them know I was never coming back. I have been in glasses or contacts since I was 11 years old. I have been to a lot of eye doctors and many times it just feels like they just want to get you in and out. With Dr . Lew it didn't feel like that at all. The exam I had was far and away the best I have ever had. Dr. Lew took the time to explain everything to me. She helped me understand which contacts and glasses would be best for me and ways to improve my eye health. I also had a complicated question about a rare genetic eye disorder my mother in law has and what I need to do for my wife and children. Dr Lin is great and you get the feeling she does care about her patients. Ortho-K has been great for my daughter! However, the office staff is sub-par. You would think they would warn you in advance when they raise prices by $200-300. Once you are in the office you can't do much about it. But maybe they've figured that out and that's why they don't inform you in advance. They do apologize a lot though, almost too much b/c by the end, you don't believe them anymore. And don't bother asking to talk to whoever's in charge, you only get the receptionist who talks in circles. read more

The entire experience was phenomenal and top shelf. Here are the highlights: 1) Appointment setting was a effortless, friendly, and had the most availability around the entire area. They were able to easily fit me in for an appointment before work. 2) Once I get there, the staff was exceedingly professional and took care all the pre-exam items quickly. Most importantly, they were ready to go on time. No waiting! 3) Dr. Sakata did a comprehensive exam and really dug into every discomfort I've had with my eyes. Things that have been bothering me but I haven't addressed. He took ample time to explain all the things that are important in taking care of my vision long-term. Really good preventive advice. Also, they have all the latest gear that can examine your eyes without diluting them and subjecting you to pain. 4) Once out of the exam, someone from the eyewear department was ready to help out new frames. Great selection and deals! They helped me pick out a great new pair With my insurance, the entire exam, new prescription, and new frames only cost me $51 out of pocket. I have been a patient here for a long time (since 1987!) Our family loves all the doctors in the office, especially Dr. Lin. They are all very thorough and have great, caring service! Love their staff and how friendly and helpful they are to the patients! Incredibly mismanaged, irresponsible office. Doctors are ok, just like everywhere else. Equipment is just like everywhere else, somewhat dated. What different is a completely mismanaged, irresponsible office, callous attitudes, lack of follow up and follow through. This results in huge headache for a patient every time. Stay away! One person, Dr. Amy Lin!!! I've been suffering from eye problems since youth and have tried numerous optometrist in the SF, east bay, and even the eye clinic from a world renowned university, but it wasn't until Dr. Lin saw me that my symptoms were cured, in fact my vision actually improved...(went from 550 down to 475, yay!). I found Dr. Lin to be very knowledgeable, she explained the problems very thoroughly in understandable language; she was patient in answering all my concerns and offered efficacious treatment options, something that was sorely lacking with other eye doctors. Dr. Lin is very warm and personable, easy to communicate with, she really has a passion for eye care and sincerely cared about her patients. I felt secure trusting my eye care to Dr. Lin. I found the selection of frames to be fashionable and not out-dated nor overly pricey. The staff provided great service and was very helpful in selecting the design of frames that match my style and usage patterns. Overall, my experience at Vision Dynamics is wonderful and I highly recommend Dr. Lin to any one who has eye or vision problems. I went to Vision Dynamics for my annual eye exam. I am giving it 2 stars because of the horrible front desk lady that completely ruined the experience for me. I was looking forward to finding a new, permanent eye doctor and unfortunately, it looks like I have to go search for another come next year for my annual eye check up. I don't have any complicated eye problems and I don't really go there for eyewear so really all I look for are three things when choosing an optometry 1) the optometrist 2) customer service 3) technology I will break down my exerience in these 3 key areas 1) (3 stars) When I first met Amy, she made me feel at ease. She does chat quite a bit so if you're in a hurry be prepared to have your appointment last awhile and to wait for other patience to get done. My entire appointment lasted 2.5 hours (including the difficulty with the front desk). Usually I am in and out in an hour in my old optometrist. She explained what she did and my prescription changes. I did feel that she tried to push services that really I don't need like more advanced dialation, computer glasses, and didn't explain too well to make me want to choose them. Instead, it made me skeptical that she was trying to push things to me. The fact that she kept saying "I am not trying to sell you on these" didn't boat well either. 2) (2 stars) The customer service front desk, Sheryl or Sherry, I can't remember her name was so so rude. When I asked her to explain a line item on a bill, she scoffed at me! yes scoffed. Who does that to a paying customer?! If she didn't have the patience, don't put here in front of a customer that day. It is their job to explain what they are charging and why, patiently. Mind you, this was after I patiently waited for the dr. who ran 30 mins behind schedule. When I challenged one of the charges, she rudely replied that it's just what they do without offering any alternative or maybe suggesting we call VSP together. The interaction with her completely ruined it for me.There was also a little pressure in getting the thinner lenses. I haven't been to a place that tells me "you should get the thinner ones". Tell me my options and give me space to decide. The rest of the staff were more junior which was why they had me deal with her for the bill. If this is what someone with "experience" treats customers, imagine what a more junior person will do. 3) (4 stars) The technology they use is good. They had all the tests like the peripheral. They didn't have the one where it blows a puff of air in your eye. I can tell they have a good selection of eye glasses and sunglasses. Since I didn't buy any I didn't pay attention to the price to be able to comment whether it is competitive. The rude customer service team just ruined it for me. I have to agree with another reviewers comments that they are pricey and they are kind of pushy in trying to get you to buy or do additional services. The doctors are okay, except for the part they did not share with you the downsidesof Orthokeratology that would allow you to make informed decision. Now that my son developed Astigmatisim and thinning of the cornea, they conveniently mentioned that these are some of the effects. The administration/ support staff SUCKS big time! They never followup with annual checkup reminder. I had ordered replacement lens not once but twice. Both times with problems. The first time, it came in, they did not call me and when I called to check, they (Ms. Sherry, I believe) did not bother to check but just brushed me off with a " If it comes in, we will call you". This last time, we ordered, paid for it, called to check on it twice, all being told" If it comes in, we will call you". This morning, I called again only to find out it was never ordered. When I blew my top, they came back with " Oh, we did order but are waiting for the tecnician to get back to us" and that was 7 days ago. Anyone with vision problem knows how crucial it is to get the replacement lens quickly. This place DOES NOT CARE if you are walking around blind. As for billing charges, you need to double check. This last time, they tried charging me for the amount my insurance was covering. read more

For many years I had gone to Dr. Yamada with my family and had a great experience. We had Kaiser for Vision coverage but now with a change of plans, I do not. I made an appointment with Vision Dynamics for an eye exam for an updated contact prescription. I was told it would be $159.00 for the exam and an update for my contact lens. When I arrived for my appointment, I was told that $159.00 was just for the exam and I would be charged more for prescription for contact lens. I'm not new to contact lenses and I never had additional charges from Dr. Yamada-I feel that the newest office staff pulled a "bait an switch". There was no contact lens fitting. Needless to say, I will not be returning to office. So sad that they have changed the way their business is run. read more

Avoid like the plague! After using the services of this business for several years and many ($$$$$$) for eye exams, eye glasses and contact lenses, I'm DONE with this outfit, due to their price gouging and TERRIBLE customer service! Although my doctor, Amy Lin, was great, the FRONT OFFICE STAFF is horrendous! 1) In 2010, when I felt their costs for eyeglasses were too expensive, I requested a copy of my eyeglass perscription. My doctor instructed the front office to write the perscription. I took it to Costco, had the glasses oredered and when I received them, realized they weren't right, no longer could I read small print (newspaper)! After going back to Costco, they informed me the perscription didn't specify this feature. I went back to VD and they gave me the CORRECT PERSCRIPTION .... lost about 2 weeks in process! 2) In 2011, when I felt their costs for 1 contact ($299) was too expensive, I requested a copy of my contact lense perscription. They wrote me a perscription that was over 1 year old and had EXPIRED (not bothering to tell me it was useless and no optometrist could legally use it)! I ended up getting an eye exam and NEW perscription from the optometrist at my medical establishment, PAMF. 3) When PAMF called my doctor to request info about the material used in my original contact lenses, VD refused and I had to fill out a waiver to release info (not medical, in nature - just simple question about manufacturer material). I was informed by the front office that " ... my doctor would determine what info would be released to PAMF ..." ... another stalll tactic and I lost another week with this run-around! I could definitely tell the huge difference in customer service between VD and PAMF. PAMF was doing everything possible to make sure I was happy with my new contact lense. VD was doing everything possible to make it difficult for me to get a contact lense somewhere else! Beware ... there are much better businesses out there to use than Vision Dynamics! read more
