Dr Tom is very thorough in every exam, making sure not to miss any age-related eye diseases. My previous optometrist did not mention anything about PVD. So this was something new to me, which Dr Tom covered with me to make sure it wasn't getting worse. The opticians were also very friendly and knowledgeable about the products offered. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for your eye care. Our experience with Danville Optometric Group was a complete nightmare. I used their online portal to book a 1:00 PM appointment for my wife to take our son and filled out all of the necessary paperwork ahead of time. However, when she arrived for the appointment, she discovered the office was completely closed from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM for lunch. Why on earth does their system allow patients to book slots during times when the entire office is shut down? It only got worse once they finally opened. The staff claimed they had no record of online profile or the appointment I had booked. To make matters worse, they allowed two other patients to go in ahead of her, completely ignoring the fact that she was waiting there with our baby. After making her wait, they then demanded that she redo all of the paperwork from scratch. The lack of communication, tech glitches, and absolute disregard for a family's time is unacceptable. This place is highly unprofessional, disorganized, and I absolutely do not recommend them. read more

I feel like Dr. Tom is getting kickbacks under the table from Lindberg glasses company. I've been seeing him for about five years and generally thought he did a good job and was nice and friendly to me. But when I had my exam a few weeks ago, he was incredibly pushy about trying to get me to buy Lindberg frames. I told him I didn't like those frames and that I liked a few from other brands, but he kept pushing. He interrupted me got angry and was borderline bullying me. He made me so stressed and uncomfortable that I found a new eye doctor l. It was so strange that he got so mean and aggressive with me after years of being nice and not push. I feel like he's corrupt and I don't trust him at all anymore so I can't see him again. read more

Dr Tom is charismatic, friendly and upbeat, he is also generally running very late and has no respect for your time. My children and I have waited up to 50 minutes to be seen for appointments (and on more than one occasion), we also had the unfortunate experience of showing up for an appointment only to find the front office staff locking up the doors to be told that we wouldn't be seen as Dr Tom was dealing with an emergency. I get it that emergencies happen, but why didn't anyone have the courtesy to call me. I'd taken time off, and taken my child out of school. If we'd have turned up just a minute later, we'd have been left to stand around waiting with no information about what was going on. The office staff lady who sent me away that day, also promised to call me to reschedule, but never did. Dr Tom prescribed OrthoK lenses for one of my children, who had a horrible reaction to them. Dr Tom assured me it was merely seasonal/environmental allergies, and we returned week after week for eye drop treatments and follow up checks which literally cost hundreds and hundreds of dollars. My child was allergic to the lenses themselves, he simply could not tolerate them. He's now wearing different lenses with no adverse reactions. Lastly, after these experiences, I want to go elsewhere. The practice will not release my children's prior records to the new practice. In addition, I've requested this information for a neurologist appointment. They have sent me a release form stating they will charge me a minimum of $50 for the records. Personally, I believe this is unethical. I, nor my children will be returning to this business. I truly hope Dr Tom sees this review and is able to make some changes. Being on time, (or a lot less late) having respectful front staff who follow up on their promises, and not charging upwards of $50 for releases of information (which is in fact illegal) seem to be good business sense. read more

We found Dr. Tom by searching Yelp. The parking is ample and free in the plaza parking lot. As you walk in, the store is clean, and you are greeted by the friendly staff. One of the staff members used to be a caretaker of one of our kids when she was attending Fountainhead for daycare. We felt comfortable. We were very happy with how they were able to examine our eyes and teach us about different types of glasses. I like that they are open on the weekends and that customers will fly from other states just to see Dr. Tom. He is very funny and very knowledgeable. Simply put, Dr. Tom and the Danville Optometric Eye Clinic are the best. They provide excellent knowledge, customer service and experience and are passionate about what they do. Everyone always has a smile on their face. Even though I moved, I still travel to Danville Optometric Eye Clinic for their expertise and professionalism. The staff is freaking wonderful. My husband went there and I got a consult quickly and efficiently and. The staff knew my name and remembered me every time I came in as well as the doctor. Eye problem...sight getting worse. 12/2022. Yes, cataracts, not yet 20/40 of which is covered by my insurance. Prescribed glasses #1. The prescription was not working... went back 4 times. Changed the way the reader part was spread out #2, did not work. Sold me strong readers #3, did not work., Told him very difficult to see, dangerous to drive at night. 12/23 ... NOW I need cataract surgery, URGENTLY... according to Dr. Tom. He then prescribed glasses to get me through until my surgery #4. Suggested frames and all. I did minimum, same frame, since my prescription would be totally different once cataracts removed. Still cost $400.00. Wanted me to go to the 73 year old surgeon his mother used. No thank you. Bottom line, I went to Standford. Got tested. My vision was 20/80. Dr. Tom wants to sell glasses and new frames. Look him up in detail. He's enthusiastic, and happy.... doesn't mean he is doing the right thing for us. Do know, the staff is delightful and helpful. It's not the staff. It's Dr. Tom. read more

If I could give this business no stars I would Last year, I visited Danville Optometry in Danville, California, with my son, this office services Medi-Cal and additional commercial insurance (VSP and employer-based). Despite this, they improperly charged my debit card over $400 and billed more than $1,300 for services, without submitting claims to my insurance providers. We never received our glasses, and repeated requests for reimbursement were ignored. Due to the lack of proper vision correction, my son suffered an accident, resulting in a broken wrist. Efforts to resolve the issue, including contacting the office manager, filing a bank claim, and requesting intervention from my insurance providers, were unsuccessful. Records sent to Kaiser were also incomplete and rejected. This business demonstrated fraudulent practices and poor customer service. I urge an investigation to protect others from similar experiences. me read more
