My boyfriend and I were starving after doing a bunch of errands around Hyde Park. We stumbled upon this place since we always drive pass it to go to Kroger, finally decided to give it a shot. As soon as you walk in the door your greeted with a full blown dessert counter. All looked pretty homemade to me and visually appealing. We got sat by our server who was such a sweetheart. She helped us with some menu deciphering and recommended their hot sauce ($1) which I'm glad she did cause it was freaking delicious! They have a huge menu, it was kinda overwhelming but I decided on their Pita Rolls for my main, hummus as an appetizer and mango lassi as my drink. HUGE portion by the way! Their pita rolls aka Mediterranean burrito, were stuffed with goodness! They were not shy filling that sucker up. I got steak, my boyfriend got the lamb (I recommend getting that) both were equally flavorful and tender. My first time eating kibbie. Not bad. Not bad. But I think I will stick with my old go-to of beef kafta. Which is delicious at Aladdin's. First off - love the concept of an almost 'fast casual' Mediterranean restaurant. No frills, just yummy and reasonably priced food. Oh, and some really delicious looking desserts such as cheesecake. My kibbie plate came with a good helping of salad with their homemade house dressing. The dressing was oil based - very light and flavorful. I remember a hint of mint. Nice big slices of tomato were included and cucumber. I liked the kibbie. It looks like a giant non-fuzzy kiwi that you cut into and minced spiced meat and pine nuts are inside. One of our servers gave me the advice of dipping it in honey which was very yummy! I also dipped it in the tahini yogurt. My friend enjoyed the 'Aladdin's Favorite Combo' which consisted of three meats - beef kafta, shish kabob (chicken) and shish tawook. I had bites and thought it to be what I would expect. I had a nice hot mint tea. They were nice enough to bring out a large serving of honey and a lemon slice as an accompaniment. Garlic sauce. Enough said, but also amazing service! This place has the most amazing hummous and garlic dipping sauce I have ever had at a restaurant. If you love garlic as much as I do, you ab.so.lute.ly. need to try their garlic sauce. When you order a plate of hummous and pita bread, be sure to ask for the garlic and spicy sauces. They come on the side, but you'll with the garlic sauce was served in a tub for you to bath in. Seriously. It is that good! The hummous is extra creamy and delicious as well. When I was here, I got the beef shwarma rolled pita sandwich. I love the pickles they put on it! With the tahini sauce, it was very flavorful! My boyfriend got the Aladdin's kabob roll, and was equally in love. We also got a slice of baklava, but I have no idea how we managed to eat so much. (In truth though, we both took half of our sandwiches home.) Also, the service here was phenomenal. We went during a lunch hour when it was moderately busy, but you couldn't tell from our waitress. She was very nice and gave us some great recommendations. She also offered to pack up more pita and garlic sauce plus drinks for us to take home. I actually liked the ambiance of the place. I know another review didn't like the decor but I found it welcoming. As an added bonus, the cushions in the booths were very comfortable! :) Next time: I'll try something with lamb. Having one of the best Middle Eastern meals of my life at the Aladdin's in West Chester, I suggested this restaurant to friends who live near Oakley. We worried about a wait at this smallish restaurant tucked into the side of a strip mall. But, our party of three was seated immediately even though it was prime, dinner time on a Friday night. I've only had lunch at the other location, so the bare bones ambiance wasn't really a factor then. This time around, a girls' night out, it could have used a little more in the decor department. The tables and chairs were clean and utilitarian. More akin to a fast- casual, chain restaurant design. Which, come to think of it, it is. No cloth anything - napkins or linens. The menu is extensive and the prices are reasonable which work for me. Even with a vegan, a vegetarian, and someone who is gluten free, everyone found more than enough to eat! Two of us started with the vegetarian combo appetizer which had plenty of pita bread to use with baba ganouj (so amazing), hummus, tabouli, falafel, and dawali (grape leaves). Make sure you get the homemade hot sauce and garlic sauce to go with everything! The one who opted out of the veggie combo ordered a bowl of vegetarian chili, the Lebanese Salata, and a side of mujadra (lentils & rice topped with fried onions). One gal had the tuna steak rolled pita and the third opted for a light salad (fattoush). We ate ourselves silly and still had leftovers to take home. Fresh ingredients, vivid spices, and amazing choices. It was another superb meal at an Aladdin's. We all walked out stuffed and very happy with our choice of Restaurants. With the Yelp discount at check-in, no one paid over $20 for a huge, multi-course meal. If you want a cool place, you might pick a swanky spot in Oakley or OTR, but if you want loads of delicious food at a great price, try this place. read more

They often have interesting ice tea options, including caffeine free. They have tons of delicious looking desserts, but I'm typically too full to give them a shot. DLW and I have been to the other location of this eatery in West Chester, and liked what we saw. When the mood for Mediterranean struck us again, this place cropped up in our Yelp search, so we checked it out. It's a bit hard to get to, mostly because of the traffic patterns around Edwards. Your best bet may be to approach from Madison and turn south on Michigan, then cross the railroad tracks to get to the parking lot. The restaurant is in a strip mall with a few other restaurants surrounding it, so parking can be tight, but at least it's free. Inside it's fairly generic décor, with wine and beer bottles displayed in the dining room to show what's on offer. About 100 seats, similar to the other location. Things were just picking up when we arrived around 6 on Friday evening, and they were in the thick of it by the time we left. Although the server kept saying "no rush," after enough repeats it became clear that meant "please hurry up, we're on a wait." I had a combo plate, and DLW had the shawarma hummus plate. Both were quite satisfying. DLW really liked the option of skipping the starch and loading up on hummus, which is nice and lemony here. Presentation was nothing fancy, and the sauces were in to-go cups. Prices were pretty reasonable, and even with wine we left paying under $50. We will put this place in the rotation when we want Mediterranean in the future. read more

Aladdin's is officially my family's go-to place for a quick, healthy dinner. They have worked out all of their new business issues, and this place now runs like a well-oiled machine. They are super fast if you're eating at the restaurant (I've been in and out in under 45 minutes if I'm in a rush for dinner on a week night), and take out food can be picked up in 10 minutes! All of the food is delicious here, but my favorites are the hummus schwarma plate (best hummus in Cincinnati!), the flavor savor special, and the falafel salad. I love that they have so many healthy options, and all of their salad dressings are amazing. Pro tip: If you're getting the hummus, make sure you add their house made hot sauce! It costs 65 cents but it's worth it. If you're eating at the restaurant, they also have a pretty decent selection of craft beers in bottles. Overall, great food, good service, and very affordable/fast. We love this place! read more

Pleasantly surprising! Unassuming from the outside, delicious and cosy inside. Went there for a quick dinner after work and enjoyed the excellent service and fresh food served promptly. The hummus is very good, very mild and creamy. It comes with fresh soft pita. Side of veggies was a nice addition, but made a big portion, so next time I would let the hummus alone shine. I had a wrap with chicken and it was very good and just right in portion. My husband enjoyed some bigger plate with rice that looked a bit suspicious, but turned out FANTASTIC, with some hints of cinnamon, really excellent. Good spot for some Persian treats. I have in the past appreciated Aladdin's but on yesterday's visit I was really disappointed. The food was absolutely unimpressive. I first ordered beans and rice without toppings. I got a plate full of rice with three (3) red beans visible, and a meager sprinkling of peas and diced carrot. The menu promised beans and rice with vegetables. It asked if I could get something else, and ordered the mujadara. This is one of my favorite dishes that I've cooked at home for years. I got a large portion of unseasoned, dry lentils and some rice, smothered in fried onions. Lazy cooking, imho. Mujadara is a delicious stew of lentils and rice mixed with lots of garlic and onions cooked until caramelized, and fragrant with cumin and cinnamon. I had to ask for some tahini sauce and used my lunch companion's unused salad dressing to give it some moisture and flavor. I won't return there - they must have had a change of chef or something. read more

Tried Aladdin's for the first time last night and was pleasantly surprised. If return trips are as pleasing, I could see revising this up to a 5 star review. I'm not normally a huge fan of the cuisine (Lebanese/Mediterranean), but Alladin's does a great job with variety on the menu. Maybe even too much so. Think Cheesecake factory with so many choices. The real surprise was that everything we ordered was excellent. Our server, Sarah, was very helpful with suggesting items to try on our first visit. No easy task given that everything was good. Very attentive throughout our meal as well. Also very attentive management, too, stopping by to make sure everything was good and even clearing the dishes. Nice touch to see engaged management/ownership. I got the sampler platter, which at $13 was a bit pricier than some other options on the menu (which is crazy, right?), but it was a great way to sample the various meat preparations. They were all good, well seasoned and cooked without being dried out. Some of the other options - the pita pizza and the pita rolled were exceptional values at $7-$8. I really expected this would be a one time visit for me, but they exceeded my expectations all around. I'll be back! I really like coming here for lunches because I don't have to jump through hoops to accommodate my dairy allergy. There is a location close to my work and close to my home, so it's very easy for me to pop in and get a quick bite to eat for fairly cheap. My go-to is either the vegetarian combo, or the tabouli salad, depending on how hungry I'm feeling. I have had the lamb rolled pita as well, which is really good in flavor, but doesn't have a lot of meat on it. I don't really tend to eat a lot, so I haven't had many of the entrees, just because I know I won't eat that much and I hate to waste food. The wine selection is good and very reasonably priced. The only item on the menu that I've had that I didn't particularly enjoy was the foul mudammas (I don't ever remember how to spell it, but the basic recipe contains fava beans with lemon juice, tomatoes, garlic, EVOO and salt), which is disappointing to me because it's one of my favorite Mediterranean dishes in general. The flavor was fine, but I think it's a dish that is best served hot. Also, while the pita bread tastes just fine and I enjoy how thin it is, I do think that it's strange that it is served cold and without any dipping oil at all. Not even any EVOO on the table. She stated that they were limited in what they could touch, yet they were literally touching everything else they cooked. I just ordered take out, so I'll update my review if I ever dine in, but this place has great food. I ordered the Hummus Shawarma Plate with garlic and hot sauce sides included. The hummus is probably the best I've ever had and the beef was tender and super flavorful. The garlic and hot sauce cost a little extra, but are definitely key to the flavor profile. Next time I might even order extra hot sauce to just use on other meals at home. I felt like the amount of food I got vs the price was really good too. I even had leftovers for the next night, which always makes me happy. I also picked up some of the homemade baklava on my way out. I can never say no to adds, let alone baklava. Decided to try Aladdin's for the first time tonight. Asked the server for a few recommendations/questions. I got the Shawarma Hummus plate. I was envisioning a plate of shawarma with a side of hummus. Instead, it was a GINORMOUS plate of almost exclusively hummus with very little meat at all. My girlfriend got the lamb meat dish. There was 5x rice than lamb, so for $15.95, I was surprised the lamb to rice ratio. Most middle eastern food places have a good amount of meat. The food here is always good and portions are large. We had the hummus to start. This is just a 3 as the flavor could be better as it was lacking the right amount of oil drizzle on the top. Also, the pitas were cold. It is so easy to warm these up they should be doing that every time they serve it. We also had the lentil soup, jasmines favorite with chicken and the chicken sambusek appetizer. All are very good and the portions are large. Service was lacking and it did not seem like they had enough help on a Sat evening. Tables were ladened with dirty dishes and servers were either too over worked with tables or just not attentive enough. With better service this is a 4 (and we have seen better service in the past). This has been a staple for us for about two years. The staff is super friendly, especially Paul who works both this store and the one up West Chester. The food is the same between both places, fresh and delicious., One note: if you have gluten allergies and you don't want to eat the pita bread, make sure you mention it to the staff. They will give you a veggie plate free of charge. I think the Hyde Park store is a little bigger and has better seating. Anyway- highly recommend Alladins!!! read more

This place is less to be desired. I had high hopes with 4.5 stars on YELP but I guess people have not really enjoyed real Mediterranean food at a Mom and Pop kind of restaurant. The best way to describe this place would be the Bob Evans version of Mediterranean food. I got one of the Jasmine specials with Chicken. I don't remember the name because it was bland and not even the hot sauce or garlic sauce could save it. The rice was mushy. The Diet Coke was flat and I was able to exchange it for Iced Tea. My wife got the Lamb and it was delicious! This is a another chain restaurant trying to make money on providing bottom versions of international foods. Do yourself a favor and support the smaller more flavor focused Mom and Pop Mediterranean places where an actually family member is cooking your food in the back kitchen. Outstanding interpretations of classic dishes. I've never had such delicious grape leaves (and I've eaten a lot of them!) My favorite is the Mujadara salad, topped with lightly fried, caramelized onions. Substantial tasty food for any crowd, including vegetarians. The manager at the Hyde Park location went out of her way to make sure to provide help with catering for a large group of people. Excellent!! Great meal. I had the Mediterranean Lamb Plate and my wife had the Aladdin Roll. Both were cooked to perfection. With the Mediterranean Lamb, came a brown rice with vermicelli topped with pine nuts and cinnamon. Very tasty combination. The pomegranate green tea was also fantastic. Last but not least was their award winning hummus. A must have. Goes well as an appetizer but also is great for dipping lamb and chicken. Service was very good. An overall excellent experience. I was expecting to give Aladdin's a fabulous review, but unfortunately I was a bit disappointed this time around. I had been here once before, so when my dad asked me to pick out a restaurant to go to that was near me, this was one of my suggestions. One thing I will say that would get 5 stars is service. Right when we walked in we were greeted with a warm hello from the host and seated promptly. Almost immediately our waitress was at our table taking our drink orders and was very attentive throughout our entire dining experience. The reason I'm giving Aladdin's a 3 star review is due to the food. In no way was it terrible, but the only thing I left feeling somewhat impressed with were the in house made sauces. Appetizer: We decided to go with the Dawali appetizer (stuffed grape leaves.) They were yummy, but we both agreed they seemed a bit over cooked, so the texture was a bit off. I also felt like they were lacking a bit of flavor. The waitress brought out some pita bread to start. It was okay, but it didn't seem homemade or anything and came out flat, bland and cold. Entrees: The last time I was here I got the Shish Kabob Signature Salad and really enjoyed it, so I decided to order that again. When I had this before, I was overjoyed when I saw the tenderloin was cooked to a perfect medium rare and that the pieces of meat were a bit larger, rather than chopped up. This time, I was a bit disappointing to find small pieces of well-done tenderloin. The salad was okay (I did love the house dressing it came with), but I didn't get to enjoy the meat because all I could really taste was the charcoal flavor. My dad decided to try the Mediterranean Lamb Plate. The lamb came with a side of brown rice mixed with vermicelli and topped with pine nuts and almonds. The waitress let him know he had a choice of either a Garlic Sauce or a Tahini Yogurt dressing - he opted to get both. I tried the lamb and thought it was good. I enjoyed it much more than I enjoyed my beef tenderloin. But, my dad felt it was just okay. His favorite thing about the dish seemed to be the the Garlic Sauce. The Sauces: Make sure to get the hot sauce. They make it in house and it's delicious. It's not as spicy as I might like (I like spice a bit more than most though) but it's tangy, thick and would go great on just about anything. The Garlic Sauce was strong, but really good. I wouldn't recommend ordering this if you're on a first date though :-) The Tahini Yogurt dressing was flavorful and light, sometimes with dressings like this they come off a bit too sour - but I really liked this one. The dressing I got with my salad was the Aladdin's house dressing - more or less a Greek dressing - but I would definitely put that on my salads on a regular basis if I had some at home. Overall: I want to give Aladdin's another shot because, as I said, the first time I came here I was really impressed. I had a nice dinner at Aladdin's last week. The service was great, our waitress was very attentive, and checked in with us a lot. Our food was delivered promptly. I had the lamb salad, on a recommendation of lamb over beef or chicken, and I was kind of surprised that it wasn't larger, to be honest, but they were generous with portion of lamb on the salad. It was sliced pieces of meat, and it tasted really flavorful. The salad had the usual cucumbers and tomatoes with a few olives on the side. My date had a chicken shawarma wrap and it came out wrapped in paper, which we laughed about. We each had some beer; I had the tangerine wheat from Lost Coast and the Butte Porter from Deshutes, gotta love the west coast representation. My date had the Lebanese beer (name?) and the Flower Power IPA that was on special, all good. Overall I would return if I was in the area but I probably wouldn't cross town for it. The service was solid and we were brought several baskets of pita, and the desserts are oh so fun to look at while you're waiting to be seated. I had the curry wrap, which is something I've never tried at any other restaurant before.
