This is a restaurant that's attached to a grocery store. We had the following dishes: Karahi Gosht: Yummy! Good pieces, some bone marrow, spicy but not excessively oily. Great spice level and flavorful without being super spicy. My favorite dish. 10/10 Beef Bihari: Pasty, spicy, really yummy. Perfect with naan and raita. Smoky and very flavorful. 10/10 Chicken Tikka (leg): Personally, I don't care for chicken tikka but this was great for what it is. Juicy, flavorful and smoky, with a good sized portion of chicken. 8/10 Chicken Makhni: Really good. The kiddo loved it, not spicy, and I liked it as well. Went perfectly with naan. Boneless and very kid friendly. 8/10 Naan: authentic Pakistani naan was so soft and flufy. 10/10 Mango Lassi: Kid and mama approved. Bihari kabab (stale, had some hint of taste, cold) 2 orders. Yakhni pulao/Biryani. No one touched it. Chicken Biryani (stale cold tasteless). 4 naans. Old n cold. 4 teas. We were visiting for a conference and all day in our feet were hungry and just accepted whatever that was placed in front of us. No server, we had to ask whoever was passing by for water, napkins etc. Granted we Made to the restaurant an hr. before closing time but the naked aggression shown, two men/servers standing 5 feet from us staring for us to leave, once we stood up started picking chairs w aggression. They could told us they were closing and we could have gone somewhere else. Our bill was $120-150 This is totally unacceptable. The same if happened in other proper professional eateries, our experience is that the staff waits and either informs before serving closing time or if they decided to serve, let customer enjoy meal. I'm writing this next day at 3:20 PM just so I could be calm. As I write this, I find myself getting angry again. Got takeout food from here this weekend. I ordered butter chicken and chicken biryani. The butter chicken came with a naan. The biryani came with mint chutney and some salad. The food was delicious. Weekends are busy though, and when I ordered by phone, I was put on hold for about 15 mins. The people at the checkout counter are polite and try their best to keep the crowd moving. This is a great spot that is authentic and full of home cooked goodness. You can tell it's authentic bc it's not full of white people. Food is served on styrofoam plates with plastic spoons. The food is fresh, hot, and plentiful. The manager walks around checking on everyone to make sure they have what they need and are satisfied. The market here is also wonderful. Located just across the street from the Hmart complex, AL Markaz offers arguably better quality and cheaper groceries than any other place in the area. The food in the food court is solid and felt like I was eating in someone's home. Here's a breakdown of what I got: - Mixed chaat: A mixed assortment of potatoes, tomatoes, yogurt, fried pita. I have several favorites - Bhuna gosht, brain masala, dal fry, chicken curry, haleem, Wednesday's fish fry, achari gosht... the list goes on. Their naan and basmati rice are perfectly made. The chaat specialities are amazing too. Not a fan of their biryanis, which is disappointing. Food is served on disposable plates with plastic forks, spoons and cups. Meetha pan on the way out is a must buy in order to complete the food coma experience. Parking is available right outside the restaurant. I've heard so much about this place from my friends and finally got to try it, it is definitely one of the best Pakistani places in Dallas! When you enter, you order at the counter and then you seat yourself and they bring your food to you. The restaurant is connected to a grocery store and feels homey. They give you disposable plates and cups to use. It was fairly busy on a Saturday night and filled with families. We got the chicken makhani (butter chicken) and biryani. Both are pretty classic dishes but it is hard to find a place that serves it well with reasonable prices, and Al Markaz definitely does both! Both dishes were delicious and the portion sizes were generous. It came with naan as well. I do wish the butter chicken was a little less oily, but that wouldn't stop me from reordering it. I shop for my groceries here almost every week! They have freshly cut zabiha halal chicken & fresh vegetables available daily! I also love their food & snacks! I especially love their samosas along with their green yogurt chutney! It's just amazing! (Shown in the picture).. I also love their beef bihari and other dishes which are available for to go & can also be found in the frozen section (this way you can avoid standing in the line).. Had lunch here many times with a friend who is of Indian heritage and he loves the food as do I. I had their lunch special of picking 3 items and all were great. I also had their Pakistan tea. The bread, nann, was hot, delicious and plentiful Service was very slow to just get a glass of water as I waited on my friend, but during ordering the food and the meal was great Tables were clean as were the booths seats, no condiments were on the table other than a napkin holder (which was over stuffed making it hard to pull out just one napkin.
