A problem with the main water line service to my house was beginning to cause it to fail. Al Coronado sent Marty out first thing Tues. morning to diagnose the problem. He thoroughly inspected the entire service, found the issues and showed me/explained the problems and solution. That afternoon Bruce, the installaton plumberr, arrived with the parts and tools to make the repairs. Both Marty and Bruce were professional, efficient, business-like and helpful. This is the second time I've used Al Coronado Plumbing and I couldn't be more pleased and satisfied by the excellent response and first rate work both then and now. read more

We did business with Al Coronado Plumbing between 2021-2026. They charged us approx. $7,500 over time. They seem proud to be one of Tucson's most expensive plumbers--claiming their prices are worth the quality. Here's why we disagree: In Nov. 2024, their tech Kenny came to check a sluggish shower drain, but did not unscrew the drain cover to look inside. Instead, he sold us their $89 bio-enzyme powder. Numerous nightly treatments did not help. We later opened the drain ourselves and found a 3" thick, 12" long wad of hair and grime. We reported this to the company with images, supporting our concern that the drain was not adequately inspected or treated. In July 2026, Al Coronado charged us $3,715 to rebuild our main water service line and rear patio plumbing. They originally quoted $1,340, then owner Andrew Coronado called to warn us we needed backflow prevention and other services. Our experience is consistent with other reviews we've since read about this company making upsell recommendations. The written quote included a line item for "prep work area for home protection and cleanliness of install"--ironic, given what followed. Their website's Home and About pages also promise technicians "lay down drop cloths" and aren't "interested in upselling work you don't need." None of that matched what we experienced. Kenny failed to lay down a drop cloth to protect our new acacia wood walkway next to the main service line. He then shoveled a large pile of rocks, gravel and grit directly on top of our wood tiles, scratching the tiles badly, and causing the walkway to become off balance. We had to order new wood tiles and reinstall 10 square feet of our walkway. Kenny also shoveled rocks, gravel, and grit atop both in-ground irrigation shutoff boxes--one by our front courtyard walkway, the other on our rear patio. (Home security videos show he also set all his sharp tools and other materials directly onto our rear acacia wood deck, with no drop cloth.) Two weeks later, we discovered the irrigation running continuously 24/7. Our irrigation specialist found loose gravel and debris inside the shutoff valve, which caused the irrigation valve to jam open, preventing it from closing to shut off the timed irrigation schedules. We had to pay $75 for that call, in addition to a sharply inflated water bill from excessive usage. We provided Mr. Coronado with audio/video documentation from our exterior home surveillance cameras showing what Kenny did on-site, and video/audio footage of the irrigation specialist discovering the jammed irrigation valve and attributing the cause directly to the plumber's work as described. We also shared video documentation showing the walkway damage. He initially offered to reimburse us for the irrigation repair, 10 damaged tiles, and the elevated water bill--contingent upon seeing our water bills from the prior month and same time last year. But then he sent several emotionally charged text messages, asking to come to our home so he could have an in-person meeting with us and give us a gift. When we politely declined, he again insisted, despite our stated preferences. Providing documentation, we reminded him this was the 3rd time we observed issues with inadequate site protection and inspection. Mr. Coronado's messages read as if he blamed us for declining the meeting and gift. His tone also shifted from solicitous to curt and combative when we provided documentation of the drain incident as a reminder this wasn't just a 1-time lapse in service. He didn't address that issue but instead wrote that our report was "self-injurious" to him "from a psychological perspective." He also copied his email to 8 employees we'd never interacted with during our 5 years of loyalty to his company. To us, that's not transparency: it felt like triangulation intended to involve others in a dispute. Regardless, what happened, happened--more than once. Won't be surprised if he posts a carefully worded response, blaming us for all. Notably, he asked us for an accurate review. We stand by these well-documented facts. read more

So these guys came here twice. Overcharged on one job and gave a ridiculous quote on another job that was $600 over what I paid.

Services requested were to install a pre sediment filter a water softener and a water pressure booster pump. Matt was the technicians name he looked at the work site to see what it all entailed gave me the quote I agreed and signed to have it scheduled for next available. Then the price increase comes into play. The tech to do the work shows up gets started then, Matt calls me out of the blue and asks what's with the extra boxes . The quote was only for a water softener. DO NOT EMPLOY!!! This is a fraudulent company they bank on people not paying attention. read more

I needed a faucet repaired that they installed a few years earlier. The insert that mixed hot and cold stopped up. They charged $432 with no breakdown on a bill on parts and labor even though I asked for it. After 3 years it broke down in the same way. They use an off brand of faucet, not a major name like Kohler, American Standard, etc. read more

Not a company to be trusted. This company quoted my 75-year-old mother who lives alone $700 for a simple garbage disposal installation. Then pressured her not to call me, (her son) to ask if I could take care of the job. This company literally told her, "Your son is so busy, let us take care of this". This was a clear example of taking advantage of an older person who lives alone. read more

An emergency. At 8 pm. Your outdoor faucet piece has broken off, two hours prior to. You try to fix it yourself and just end up putting a towel over it. You can't find the shut off valve. You have never used Al Coronado before. You call them. A superhero arrives, named Marty. He turns off the valve. He fixes the faucet adding a new part. Life returns. He rocked. Professional. Presented the costs upfront detailed. Once approved went to work. That's a hero in my opinion. They are now the only plumbing company we will use. And the only one I'd recommend. read more

Estimate was a rip off. They took our money and then bid the job so high it was evident they did not want the small job. Why not be honest and say this job is too small for our huge business and leave us our money to find someone else local. read more

Excellent service. Got a leak in one of my kitchen pipes and called Al Coronado for help. They had a tech (Andy) arrive within 2 hours, determined what needed to be done and helped me get a restoration company since the walls were soaked thru. Andy was friendly and easy to work with. He completed the pipe replacement and had water immediately back. Thank ALP, you did a great job. read more

I needed a plumber since my toilet would not stop running and made a loud vibrating sound. Tried every home remedy but afraid because of the vibration . I called Al Coronado because of the reviews and they are absolutely right. Xavier came out within 48 hrs and he was great. Followed all pcps, was very patient and informative. Since he didn't really have to do any work he did not charge me... What? Unheard of I highly recommend this company as honest reliable and not a rip off. read more

This was (and I emphasize was) the best company in town. We used them for years and referred them to others. Never again. They sent IMO a plumber who IMO tried to rip us off for a 7000 job to replace all our toilets -- based on how they sounded when they flush! Even the owner of the company admitted the sound of the flush is not the test. And when I asked for a refund of the deposit the accounting person was insulting or condescending at best. The employees used to be of the highest caliber. No more. Good thing there are plenty of good choices for plumbing in Tucson. read more

We had Al Coronado Plumbing come out on a Saturday to replace a water shut off valve that was broken behind our refrigerator. It cost us $900 which seemed very high, but we understood it was a Saturday service. However, the replacement was not done correctly and leaked water in our walls for 2 weeks before we realized what was happening. This ruined our walls and newly installed baseboards. The company did eventually pay to have the damage fixed but it was at our inconvenience and with an unprofessional renovation company. We asked to have our $900 returned and were told no. We will never use Al Coronado Plumbing again. Choose your plumbers carefully. read more

Our toilet was old and not flushing properly. We had Al Coronado Plumbing come to our home and gave us a price to install a new toilet for $1,139 Told us our flange needed replaced. Price $735.00. The plumber left. Came back to install the overpriced toilet. They found roots growing into the toilet. Came back with a camera and told us it would cost $1, 618 to hydro jet from the toilet to the clean out that goes to the city sewer. Then told us it would cost $6,948 to fix the sewer pipe due to root damage. Very expensive so we had another plumbing co come in and they charged us $688.00 to hydro jet from the toilet to the clean out. Then this new company put a camera through and showed my husband that the sewer pipe needed absolutely NO repairs. My husband said the pipe looked clean and in good condition. So we decided to pay the new and honest company $1,386 to perform a hydro jet through the entire home's sewer line. Which was $232.00 cheaper than Al Coronados hydro jet price to do only the front of the house from toilet to clean out. This plumber's name was Jasper who told us our sewer line from our guest bathroom toilet would need repaired. He went on to tell us he would have to bust through 5 tiles and through the base of our flooring. He said, ( which we do know this part) that plumbers do not fix the tile afterwards) My point is - breaking up our bathroom floor didn't even need to be done. I even called him before we got a second opinion and asked him if he could do the hydro jet wash out in the line first. His exact words were "No, the sewer line has to get repaired, that there was no way around that part. So the $6,948 HAD to be paid. So long story short we did not use Al Coronado... but boy did Jasper keep calling about the work getting done. He acts like a real nice guy but he's a scam artist. A guy named George charged us the $1,139.00 for the toilet. Which we were ignorant in falling for. Look up average prices. This is way over priced even for plumbers. And George with his $735.00 quote for a toilet flange. Wow!! Just wow!! Please think twice about using this company. Andrew Coronado called me after I called Al Coronado to pay the $202.00 which was a balance we owed on the toilet at the time and let them know I was never using them again. He said, "Don't give up on me" He kept trying to convince me further that our pipe was broken. I had to hang up on him. He called me two more times after that leaving voicemails. So... either they don't know what they are doing (43 years in business) or they are scam artists. You take your pick! I'm honestly not exaggerating numbers or my words in this review. If you want to do the math for yourself and see exactly how much money they were trying to take us for you can. I've spoken to a few contractors about this situation and they assured me that we payed at least $800 too much for a plumber to put in a toilet. That a flange is nowhere near $735.00 for a professional install. And for almost $7,000 to fix a sewer pipe in one area of the house, that for that price they better be re piping your whole house. Not to mention, like I said the difference on the hydro jet clean out. We've learned our lesson that's for sure. Ya don't always gotta use the big guy who is open 24 hours. Look into the other guys too. Be careful! Inflation is so bad right now, don't let anything like this add to it. (Roots came in from Toilet not being sealed properly when we had tile work done. Roots can come in from outside of seal and flange. So consider that, that pipes do not necessarily have to be damaged from root growth) read more

Marty came out to review the need for a section of cast iron piping which I went over with him. He came back with a proposal which I accepted only to get a call latter in the day from him saying he had made a mistake and they could not do the work and told me to find another plumber. Not a professional service on their part after spending several days with him to figure out the work to be done. I will never call this firm again and will share the bad experience with others. read more

I called Al Coronado Plumbing after a friend's recommendation. A representative came to my house, looked around and told me my pipes were old cast iron, needed complete replacement, and gave me three contract options ranging from $18,000 to $22,000. He did nothing to check on my water line or my pipes. He just pressured me to sign one of the three very expensive contracts. I was in shock, did not want to buy into financing with them, and said I would think about it. Thank goodness! My pipes are copper, leak fixed with solder and replacement piece, about $400. I would never use or recommend Al Coronado. They should be investigated for shady practice. Don't buy into their pressure tactics and don't believe anything they tell you without getting a second opinion. read more

I had helped set up an appointment for a client to have some basic work done. The toilet that wasn't leaking just needed to be RE-caulked per the buyers request. Afterwards, it was leaking and then she had to struggle to get them to come back out. Then, they actually tried charging her again. The plumber who did the work was very nice, but other than that it was a bad experience and I felt responsible for recommending them and having my client go through all the frustration. They did eventually agree that she shouldn't be charged, but I overheard the conversation and the customer service representative was very rude. It was highly unprofessional. I only think they backed down because the homeowner mentioned that she was an attorney. It was an extremely unpleasant experience. read more

I am a native Tucsonan, and always like to deal locally. I had an urgent, but not life-threatening plumbing issue today and called Al Coronado. After a but of phone tag, I reached a pleasant woman named Michelle, explained my situation, and asked if someone could be sent out in the next few days. She then asked if I was a "regular customer". Frankly I couldn't remember if I had had them out before, since I have lived in this house for over 40 years. She then politely told me that she would be happy to send me a coupon and put me on a 'reference list' but they were TAKING NO NEW CUSTOMERS. Then why do they run advertisements daily on local TV? I wasted a whole morning in dealing with a plumbing issue when I could have contacted another firm. If they are dishonest about their advertising what else are they dishonest about? VERY DISAPPOINTED. read more

On December 12/18/2019 Our bathrooms were inoperable and after a review found that the situation was more damaging than previously thought. The professional, and curtious staff members performed above and beyond the call of duty to protect our financial crisis in which this project would be upon my 96 year old mother. I posted earlier about this company and just got a phone call from Andrew Coronado, one of the owners. We had a nice chat, and he explained his pricing and the cost of running a large company. Andrew did agree that their costs were high but also noted the extra work such as the shut-off valve and new water line. The plumber that came out was nice and professional. I believe he did a very good job, matched the grout very well and really cleaned up after he was done. So, I think this is a good company but a little too costly for me. I really appreciate the fact that Andrew took the time to reach out to me. read more

Well, I find this interesting that THREE YEARS after the fact, there is a response to my review. All I have to say is, at the time that this was happening, there was no attempt by anyone from the company to reach out and make things right. Though I do appreciate the tone of his response, I really do not know what he is talking about in his reference to "procedures and protocols." Unless he is referring to his plumber calling the main office to figure out how to do the job and how to do the job in the most expensive way possible that is totally out of the realm of reasonable and honest cost. He also says, at least I think he was saying in his response, that he refunded above the service fee, which in this case would have been $100. He did not. He only refunded the $65. Just read the other one star reviews and you will get an idea of what to expect from this company. read more

Kitchen sink plugged up on Saturday night and couldn't unplug it myself after fooling with a handmade wire-rooter+power drill, so I called a bunch of plumbers Sunday morning and Al Coronado was the only one that picked up. They had a guy over by 9am. Price to power-rooter 60' of kitchen was ~$250'ish. I have no idea if the price range for plumbing, so can't comment much, it seems expensive but then Bobby S. was prompt, polite, and professional and THERE. No one else responded and it was a weekend, so I'm OK with paying a premium for responsive service when the dishes are piling up and I tired of being elbow deep in drain-gunk. He did an excellent job, provided good advice, and was incredibly responsive, which in my mind, is exactly what I want when a sink/toilet/etc is overflowing. read more

I'll never call these people again. Friday night and there's water in my yard so I do some exploratory digging. Turns out the water main is leaking so I call these guys. Tech shows up about 30 minutes later and he's friendly and knowledgeable. He tells me that logically we need to diagnose the problem before we can figure out the solution and that makes sense. So he starts digging. The existing pipe is in a sleeve so it's hard to determine where the leak is so he digs a bit more. He can't find the end of the sleeve so he comes up with an estimate. Blue stake, have a crew dig 20' to the house, replace the line with copper, replace ALL of the valves (which are only 7 years old) including the irrigation box, fill trench, and replace yard rock. $4200. So I get up early in the morning and finish digging another 4 feet and find the end of the sleeve. Now at this point all that needs to be done is replace a 6' section of 1" PVC. The trench is open and I said I'd fill it myself. I'm a handy person. I mig weld and do electrical and other plumbing things. You know, head CTO at my house. I'd just like a professional to do the solvent weld on my main water line since it's mission critical. All he has to do is cut a section of pipe and glue both ends in the trench. Parts could not have been more than $10. Simple right? They wanted $1100. Yeah no. Not paying that. Deans plumbing did it for $125 and it took 20 mins. As he was leaving my neighbor walked over and needed Dean to quote a job so good for him. Did a look up of their google reviews and not surprisingly all the 5 star reviews are by reviewers with only ONE review. The deceptive power of the internet should never replace being knowledgeable and common sense. I'm sure the reply to this will be full of platitudes and chest thumping about their 4.1 star "web presence", but I don't buy any of it including their pricing. read more

We had a water leak in a pipe near the back house. I exposed the pipe. They came out the day I called. The gentleman was professional and did a good job. The problem? About $200/hr. The explanation was that they do not charge by the hour, they charge by the job. Yes, I agreed to the amount, but the company I usually use (it would take them two days to take care of this one) gives me a price and if it takes less than their hourly rate, that is what they charge. We ran out of hot water and called them to come out. It was an $89 charge unless we went with them for services--ok, we figured we'd need them to do the job anyway. Their SALESMAN came out (not even an actual plumber) and never even opened the panel or inspected it other than just standing in front and looking at it. After 15 mins he said he needed a new hot water heater. We explained that we have a newborn baby and we're dreading needing a new heater, and that we can only do the cheapest option. He wrote our estimate as $1,800 being the CHEAPEST option. Regretfully we put half down as they required, and ordered the new heater. The next morning, my father came to look at it and SIMPLY CHANGED THE THERMOSTAT. He is handy but not a plumber, and the thermostat cost $20. We've had hot water back ever since with no issues.
