Have eaten here several times with friends for lunch. Food is good, but not as good as Cedarland.

GREAT ! great food, great service, great atmosphere, Go there you won't be disappointed ! I am used to eat arabic / middle eastern food, and this place is one of the best I did read more

not as good as they used to be..the salads are bland and have no taste..they make the dressing with too much oil.. the list can go on..hummos is good though. Service is good. read more

Its okay. But it used to be a lot, lot better. The quality of food has really come down. You can do better. Metro-Detroit is filled with amazing Middle Eastern restaurants. read more

Stopped by for lunch. The food and service were great. I was seated immediately and welcomed nicely. They answered my questions about their menu in detail. I ordered boneless chicken with rice. It came with salad and bread. The food was more than enough and I took the leftover with me. The food was tasty and well cooked. The salad was awesome. Overall experience was great. read more

One of the bus Middle Eastern restaurants in dearborn hands down very nice scenery servers are are friendly and helpful my recommendation is the meat shawarma plate read more

Best pita bread I've ever had. It's paper thin, warm and puffy and light. The hummus is smooth and creamy and a small is more than enough for two people. The shawarma chicken fattoush salad has plenty of seasoned chicken, is an ample portion and is very fresh. My DC had the lamb stew, which was a lean cut of fork tender lamb that was nicely seasoned. I wanted to swim in the garlicky tahini sauce. We had prompt polite service and the restrooms were not dirty as other posters have mentioned. read more

The food was pretty decent. There are certainly much better places in Dearborn, but what really ruined this place for me was the service. Our waiter got orders wrong (mind you, arguing that we asked for something different), needed to be asked several times to bring items out, and at one point called me dude (which oddly enough, I took offense to). I'm far from a difficult customer and I'd like to think this is just an isolated incident of one bad server but I will not be returning to find out. read more

This place was pretty bad...the lentil soup had NO flavor. I ordered the lunch special, chicken ghallaba. I cant believe, that in an Arabic restaurant, they have the nerve to charge a dollar extra for fatoush, I mean, really? I would have said no but I specifically asked the waiter if fatoush came with the special and he said yes. If anything charge a dollar more for american salad, hello! Then I orderd the fatoush with feta- 1.79 for 3 pieces of feta? No! Ghallaba was watery, flavorless and cold. The only thing I enjoyed was the hummus, because, really, what can you do to screw up hummus right? I will never go back. read more

Service was bad. Waiter only suggested expensive meals. guests were asked if they wanted side dish expecting a small platter with entree, another expensive entree dish was given. A lot of food was wasted. Total Bill $500 for 15 adults and 7 children without any drinks during lunch hours. I would definitely not recommend this to any one. read more

Great introduction to Arab-American food.. This is where you see a white-family dining for an "ethnic experience." It's safe and clean, comfortable. The staff is polite and will explain everything out. read more

Don't think I'll be going back. The place is dated and unappealing. They even have one of those tall glass dessert displays. Service was prompt, but ultimately rude. Ordered entrees, appetizer, and juices. The juices were typical for middle eastern restaurants, not the best, but not bad. The waiter said they pride themselves on their juices. The pita was better than others I've had that serve that style. The hummous was mis-proportioned - it was thinner than my juice. It had a different taste ... too much tahini maybe?? The garlic sauce was good. Not as good as Zaytoon's, which I think has the best, though they make it with mayo and potatoes. The entree was good overall. I should note that the waiter got our order really messed up, but didn't want to make a big fuss. It looked good! I had even said my order twice to be clear. The bill came and I got charged twice as much because he had put me down for a more expensive item. I explained the situation and also asked for to-go containers for everything - we ordered a lot of food! He basically pulled the, "you ate it, you pay for it." I have never had this happen at a restaurant so I didn't even think about seeming like I was scamming them. They must attract that kind of clientele, but that's not my fault. Instead of fixing it, he got the manager, who ALSO pulled the "you ate it, you pay for it, you should have complained at the start." He eventually took off the discount (though he had too much pride to change the receipt to reflect what I actually ordered). I also asked for the check to be separated. The waiter came back with half the to-go containers that we needed, which meant I had to combine foods and still leave some of what I wanted to take. A third person brought back the check, which was not split so we combined out payments. Al-ameer made me think twice about letting mistakes go lest I pay the price in the end. No restaurant is perfect, but apparently I have to watch out. Not going back. WAY too many other good middle eastern restaurants in Dearborn alone. read more

We were seated quickly, the staff was pleasant and checked on us several times, to see if we needed anything. The food was delicious and such large portions! We ordered lamb kabobs which were very good, a chicken dish with some vegetables, as well as appetizers along with hot bread to die for. The prices were excellent for the quality of food, and I would definitely go back. read more

My wife and I were immediately seated. It is a very nice friendly place. Our waiter was equally nice and attentive. We ordered the hummus to share. It was very good. My wife had the falafel that she rated as excellent. I had the lamb kabobs with fries. The kabobs were also very good. The fries were not fresh cut but still tasty; and we shared a nice chocolate cake. Overall, a big "Like". read more

Amazing! The food is absolutely amazing, the service, and the amount of food they give. 5 stars all around! Will def be returning with family and friends! read more

I have been going to Al-Ameers for years but the last 4-5 times I have been there the food was terrible and the wait staff was just as bad. They are allowing this place to go down hill fast. read more

Not what it used to be. At all. Must have changed cooks because I could swear the cooking was better just about a year ago but its been a steady decline. Rice seems to be overcooked and the food cold half the time. And when you complain to the new young buck that's running the place, he gives you the "oh, you didn't like it? Sorry." Doesn't seem sincere nor caring. That was the last time I got there especially in a city so rich with arabic food. read more

Hands down the best Lebanese food outside of Lebanon. I've tried Leb food all over and this is still my favorite place. The most amazing salads, appetizers, and dishes. Consistently delicious. read more

delicious! I can't wait for the renovations to be complete - until they are I just get takeout once a week. great food for great prices!

Their chicken is so nasty. The first couple of times I purchased it, it was good. After that it went downhill from there. It's not even chicken anymore, honestly, glass tastes better than it. They lost me as a permanent customer for good. They do not care about their customers and that is so sad. The manager is lucky that I just called him and yelled instead of going into the restaurant and yelling in front of the customers. I spoke to other people who I know and they have the same problem with their chicken. They all said, "They mess up a lot with their chicken." Horrible, awful, and downright disgusting. Someone should get fired. read more

Best garlic sauce ever! I eat here with customers all the time because it is the best and I like the best. I have eaten the shawarma and the chicken shawarma salad and love it. I save the extra garlic sauce for home later and my gf steals it. Can't blame her cause again it is the best and she gets the best! I want it now just writing this... If you like taste and flavor, go here and eat! read more

The hummus and pita bread is incredible, and the super deluxe sandwich is pretty much my favorite thing ever. They have plenty of both meat and vegetarian options, so it's easy for everyone to find something that will work for them. I've never dined in here, but I've gotten takeout multiple times, and have always been extremely satisfied with the food and service. read more

Hands down the best shawerma I have had yet. The servers were friendly, the environment was really cool. I wanted to spend a Lebanese time, and it turned to be a great time. Enjoyed the food and would go back when I am in MI. read more

As mentioned on their website Al-Ameer is a family oriented restaurant that specializes in Lebanese and middle eastern cuisine. We arrived for dinner on a Saturday evening and the place was buzzing. We were seated almost immediately which was nice given the popularity of the restaurant. The decor is really funky. The building itself appears to have been built as an american "Denny's" style establishment. So imagine the furnishings of a Denny's or IHOP with middle eastern posters and trinkets layered over the walls. The service was quite attentive and the waitress was helpful in giving us information about the menu. I ordered a Chicken Shwarma lebanese salad which was fresh and filling. The waitress mentioned that I may want to order a small, however I ordered a medium and didn't come close to finishing it. My friend ordered a vegetarian moujadara (rice and lentils covered in caramelized onions). Both dishes were quite good and rivaled our favorite Lebanese restaurant in Chicago. The highlight of the evening was the fruit cocktail drink that my friend ordered, which in itself was worth the trip. I also ordered a couple squares of baklava to go. The baklava was pistachio based, and was shockingly good, as I usually prefer the standard walnut based desert. The meals were quite reasonably priced and I still have leftovers in the fridge. Oh, also the pita is made fresh and is absolutely brilliant. All in all it is well worth the trip and shocking decor. We will certainly be back. read more

Al-Ameer was great before the renovation I wish they didn't because it was a more intimate space and was decorated with Middle-Eastern art. It was warm and inviting. It now feels like you are in a large hall - the server said they were going to add art to the wall - as of a month ago it was not there. One writer compared it to a Dennys - unfortunately Dennys is more of an intimate space. But it now allows large groups to be seated at long tables - Which I think is the reason for the change. They could put up some movable dividers. A big downfall is walking to the bathroom. The flooring is usually wet and gross they need renovation or strong monitoring an cleaning - hopefully that is phase 2. Now to food. The best Fatush salad in town. Great meat grape leaves. Very good Shish Kafta and Shish Twook(chicken) the lamb Kabob has been a disappointment to me and I usually substitute another chicken kabob. The lamb is often tough and stringy or fatty /gristle - I spit out too much to enjoy it. Hummus and Babba is great. The food portions on the platters seem to be smaller. Please Offer more combination platters if you are going to shrink the size. Service seems to have improved. Waiters were very attentive - in the past I encountered too many disappearing waitresses so the improvement in the wait staff is a good improvement. It's a good sign that in this Arabic restaurant you see a lot of Arabic people. The recipe for the pita bread changed or I was there on an off day - tasted the flour but not the flavor from past visits. The bread was special in the past. Maybe I need to try another location. La Pita had very good food at a higher price - but very tender lamb on the Kabob. read more

a bunch of dried out chicken meat chopped up in a lot of pieces will never visit this place again

As a huge fan of Middle Eastern food, I was excited to try this James Beard award-winner. It was a tremendous disappointment. Among our three dinners and appetizers, a couple of items were mediocre (I'm being generous), while the remainder were terrible. The server was clueless about the menu and ingredients, and items came out haphazardly, in no particular order. While I ordered a lamb kebab, she brought beef, and it was burned and tasted awful. When I told the server it wasn't lamb, she wasn't sure. After checking with the kitchen, she confirmed it was beef and that they didn't have any lamb today, only beef -- so they gave me beef! The only beverage choices are fruit smoothies with sugar and honey and sugary sodas. The atmosphere in the restaurant is stark and similar to a diner. The food at my local hole-in-the-wall kebab place is better than what we received this evening. Clearly the award luster, and food, are gone from Al-Ameer. read more
