Well deserved 4 star for Akino. A few notable item for the star deduction included being seated right next to the bathroom as well a backdoor. We had a mixed unpleasant experience of feeling a cold draft as well as smelling strong bathroom odors with chemicals/various strong body odors as we were trying to enjoy our meal. This is a chance for the establishment to optimize their restaurant space a bit better. If you are seated away from the back/bathroom, I think it'd be an even better experience. For $26 all you can eat lunch for sushi and appetizers, it's quite a good deal and bang for your buck. My partner and I got various signature rolls as well as combination of the nigiris. Have eaten in and gotten takeout and it's maintained great quality in both scenarios. This is one of the higher quality sushi buffets I've had and has even impressed my father who hates all you can eat because they tend to serve lower quality items. The sushi has always been fresh fish, tenderly fresh avocado and avoids the mistake other places make which is to stuff their rolls full of rice. Their kitchen items like chicken teriyaki, miso soup, shumai etc are either standard or above standard - shumai is the same everywhere it seems with AYCE places but the chicken teriyaki has such a nice sticky glaze and maintains a great tender texture - do yourself a favor and order more than one! With that in mind, my friend wanted to come here for her b-day celebration. As a group we choose together and the service was quite fast. Everything came out and we just had to figure out who ordered what. What I like about this place is that they don't pack the sushi with tons of rice. This allows me to taste more of the fish or whatever it's stuff with. What stood out most were their mango sushi. I was pleasantly surprised they added mango puree. Price is reasonable and the sashimi was good, but taking stars off because of the amount of plastic used and lack of actual plates / cups. Wasabi and soy sauce are all prepared in little containers, so if you need more, you'll need to waste another container. Water is served in plastic disposable cups and you're given a takeout container to use as a plate. Service was great, fast and friendly, but I couldn't get over the amount of plastic being wasted. (Minus the beef teriyaki which was really tough and the seafood udon noodle soup that didn't have much flavor) I did notice that their rolls were not packed with rice so maybe the cheaper lunch option could be the way to go next time. We have been coming here for years for our all you can eat sushi needs. The food is fresh, large variety and quick. They have a mix of sushi, sashimi, signature rolls and many cooked food options too (noodles, fried rice, meat, Shu mai, salads and soups). They have unique monthly specials that we always like to try. There's something to suit everyone here. Servers are kind, fast and remember our orders (which we've had issues with in the past at other places). The place is not that big but they also have outdoor seating. Don't get my wrong. I love akino but tonight's service left me so frustrated and angry. We waited 40 minutes for a couple of sashimi pieces and after asking 3 times the guy assure me that it's on the way but only when I insist that they double check did he come back just to tell me that their kiosk had an error and they're going to put it in again. We sat down at 8:30 leaving us exactly till 10:30 / 2 hour limit, which is when the close, to eat but last call is at 10 which means we only had 1.5 to eat so when it takes 40 minute to get our food, I hope you can understand my frustration. Came on a Tuesday night and the place was fairly busy. Some pros and cons: I love their sashimi (esp their salmon) it was super fresh and decently sized. The cuts were always pretty consistent. Their rolls are also pretty good - I love that it's bite sized and there is not too much rice rolled into it. Some places over pack the rice. If you're in the mood, their stir fried udon is also pretty decent - Nice and sweet, kid friendly!! Cons: they use so much plastic!! All the containers, plates, and utensils are all disposable. They were not super busy when we went at around 3 p.m. on a Saturday, so there was plenty of seating for walk-ins although reservations are recommended, especially for large parties. Service is attentive and fast once you submit the order form to the staff. You don't have just one waiter and they are constantly rotating, so expect speedy and very efficient service. Moreover, they bring the food out as it comes, so even if you order a ton of food, expect to be served in batches rather than being overwhelmed all at once. Once you order, there is a 2 hour window for ordering more. We thoroughly enjoyed most of the food. We tried seven different special rolls, multiple cuts of sashimi, and some other dishes as well. The stand outs for us were certainly the monthly special (smoked salmon with sesame sauce), the phoenix roll, the blissful roll, and the salmon dragon ball. The sashimi was very fresh, and everything was quite frankly very satisfying with the exception of the mackerel (just overly fishy flavor, but in a stale and old way). Overall, this was an amazing experience if you want to try a bunch of different styles and cuts without going completely broke. I've been a regular at Akino for years, but this was by far the worst service experience I've ever had here. We came in for lunch AYCE as a group of 11 and were the first customers of the day. Despite this, our service was incredibly slow and disorganized. Multiple orders were missing, and we waited an extremely long time for food to arrive. At one point, we were missing around 100 pieces of salmon sushi from a previous order that we had already been waiting over 20 minutes for. What made the experience even more frustrating was that another large party arrived shortly after us and received their food very quickly, while our table was clearly neglected. It honestly felt like we were treated differently because most of our group was made up of younger kids. When the server took our order sheet, they questioned us about ordering 100 pieces and warned us about paying per piece if we didn't finish, which felt unnecessary and uncomfortable, especially since we are regulars and fully understand the rules. Later, while we were still waiting for food that never arrived, we were told that our 2-hour time limit was up and that we could not order anything else. This was extremely upsetting considering the delays were entirely due to missing and forgotten orders. When we brought up the missing food, the server became defensive instead of apologetic or helpful. While the restaurant was busy, I've dined here many times during peak hours and have never experienced service this neglectful. The most disappointing part is that the food itself was amazing, as always. That's why this experience weighs on me so much. We still tipped well, but I regret it given how poorly our table was treated. I also regret not asking to speak to a manager while we were there.
