WOW! Simply WOW! Every single dish we ordered was flavorful and plentiful! The roll selection is amazing! The Pink panther was fresh and refreshing. The crab Rangoon is truly the BEST we've ever had! The hamachi was like butter! Soooo yummy! Our friends ordered several rolls and they were all delicious! The salmon & tuna nachos are a must!! Can't say enough about this place! Oldsmar has the best little gem! Service was lovely by Allison! My only suggestion is to expand the wine selection. ;)

Shrimp tempura appetizer, spicy salmon, candy cane, dragon, rainbow roll, rock n roll

One of the better sushi restaurants in the Westchase area. When I was on maternity leave I went on a huge sushi kick, but I didn't review any of the places. Now I remember why I Yelp, so I can remember what I got and what I thought of it. I was perusing the menu and realized there were some rolls I didn't like, but I couldn't remember which! I had to go rogue and get rolls I didn't think I got last time and hope that I made good decisions. We got takeout and ordered a shrimp tempura appetizer, spicy salmon roll, candy cane roll, dragon roll, rainbow roll, and rock and roll. My favorites were the candy cane roll, spicy salmon roll and the rock and roll. The main reason I didn't like the rainbow roll and the dragon roll as much was the krab. They do a krab and mayo mix and it was too heavy with two rolls. Next time I will only choose one roll with krab inside. They're both good individually, but too much combined. I really liked the spicy salmon. They keep the salmon in chunks. I thought the rock and roll was well done as well. The shrimp tempura was tasty, but a bit too greasy for me. Usually I don't get tempura, but I had great tempura at Yoshi Sushi so I wanted to compare. Yoshi Sushi wins hands down in the tempura contest. If you order more than $50 to go you have to pay over the phone. Apparently they've gotten stiffed recently with people ordering and then not picking it up. How bizarre!

I would've given at least one more star to this spot, but it took a full hour to get 3 sushi rolls ordered off of the happy hour menu. Yup! That's right. A whole hour! We came in right before happy hour ended, so we took advantage by ordering crab Rangoon- so yummy we added another order soon after. Vegetable spring rolls were hot and super tasty. Both came with a sweet and sour sauce for dipping. Also got a glass of cab (ok, 3 before all was said and done) LOL. House cab was good for me! An hour later, we got our 3 sushi rolls we'd ordered when we sat down. Kamakazie, rock n roll & screamer. All were quite tasty. No complaints on the food or the service from Allison, who was friendly, and told us the cook forgot to make a to go order, so he had to pause our order for that. Also, they only had one cook. Sorry, but sushi shouldn't take an hour to table. IJS.

Ordered takeout from here and it was great. I was craving sushi and this is one of my go to places. I ordered the appetizer sampler which had shrimp shumai, spring rolls, dumpling, and crab Rangoon. It was ok, the spring rolls were mush inside. We got three sushi rolls they were all delicious. First roll Crunchy Krab, spicy tuna, tempura shrimp, cream cheese, eel sauce & spicy mayo, entire roll prepared tempura this was not over fried it was perfect. Second roll was the Kamikaze Krab mix, avocado, cucumber and crispy tilapia w/spicy mayo & eel sauce Third roll which was my favorite is Rock & Roll Tempura shrimp, avocado, cucumber, krab mix, crunch, scallions & masago This place was delicious and I will definitely be back to try some of other offerings.

Escolar, truffles and bell pepper. Amazing!

This place is absolutely amazing! The chef created a totally unique 6 course Ngiri experience. The flavor combinations were phenomenal! I'll definitely be back!

This place is the absolute bomb, not too pricey on the foods and such a cozy place to sit and eat at. I recommend the California roll or the shrimp tempura roll, very tasty !!!!!

Custom roll by Jason - amazing!!

OMG the chef here never disappoints. Service is great, food is fresh and vibe is comfortable

This place used to be amazing! I know Covid slowed businesses down but just got a tampa and spicy tuna roll and they're both horrible. Barely any fish at all (all fried bits) in the tampa and spicy tuna isn't spicy. Even the pickled ginger tastes gross and I usually love it!

We have been searching for good sushi all around Westchase and this place wins! A close friend that I always have sushi with when we're together was in town, so we decided to take the leap and take our two toddlers out for dinner. I was pretty nervous we'd be running out of there but the boys actually did great. It was surprisingly not busy on a Saturday night. The sushi here is fresh and the staff is so friendly. They have a nice bar and TVs too. The menu is also well thought out and the flavors pair nicely. If it's your first time make sure you try the tuna and salmon nachos. I dream about them - they are that good! It's basically poke on wontons. Yum! The rolls we tried were all delicious too. If you like paper rolls the summertime roll has a nice twist with sesame oil. If you like a cooked fish try the flaming ocean. I've ordered to-go and the sushi held up. Don't forget to check out the happy hour specials. If you have toddlers it's during dinner time, so bring your kid's dinner with you and you're winning!

The sunset roll is AMAZING and so is the fried ice cream (rolled in homemade pound cake!!) They also have great lunch specials and happy hour! The owner is usually in there socializing with customers or working on making the sushi if it's super busy. Since they've gotten a whole new staff, we love coming here even more. It's nice that they recognize us since we go at least once a week whereas before, it wasn't like that. I send everyone I know here and they love it!

The squid sashimi was delicious, this is a must get for me. I got two servings of tobiko sushi, red, because I thought my older son would want some. This time he didn't, so next time I should get one serving of tobiko sushi and one serving of just tobiko sashimi as always I got a Saba sushi for my dad. The rolls are where I really faultered this time. I got the fresh salmon roll, which I always love so that's a good choice. My younger son actually kept eating the rice from that roll so I got salmon sashimi through that. I ordered the super protein because I didn't think it had rice in it, when it says it has rice paper, it means rice paper instead of seaweed. I felt like there was too much mayo, because I ended up ordering three rolls with mayo inadvertently . So next time, definitely do not get the Tokyo tower, the super protein, and the screaming orgasm at the same time. I got the screaming, because it said there was no rice, but there definitely was rice. I'm not sure if the menu was wrong or if they made it incorrectly, but it also had a lot of mayo so I wouldn't get the screaming again. The Tokyo Tower also had a lot of mayo. I liked the super protein the best out of the three, so if I decide, I do want one roll with mayo, I would go with the super protein. However, if this is future me reading this, I should go back to my standard order, which is detailed in my last review. My husband likes the wonton soup, so we always get him that as well. Overall, I still like the sushi here, we ordered all of the above and had about a roll left over. So if I'm looking to order just enough for one dinner, I should stick with three rolls not four. They quoted us at 30 to 35 minutes but they ended up taking about 45 minutes.

Amazing even for takeout…read more I'm going to rank the dishes in the order that I enjoyed them. 1. Crying Tiger. This is grilled marinated Ny sirloin strip served with Laotian sticky rice, pickled daikon and carrots. 10/10. The meat was so exceptionally tender, even reheated the next day. I loved the sticky rice. My youngest son loved it too, so it was a huge winner. 2. Crispy Volcano Chicken. I really enjoyed this as well. It has the outside that reminds me of orange chicken. 3. Green Papaya Salad. I'm a huge papaya salad fan and this one really hit the spot. I'm the only one in my family who eats it, but I feel healthy when I do and it's delicious. 4. Fried chicken wings - they were plump and the entire family enjoyed this. The two dishes that were good, but I'd skip next time are the chicken satay (this sat around in our fridge for a while) and the black dragon roll which was good, but I think their non sushi dishes really shine. It said the food would be ready in 30 minutes (we ordered online) and when we picked up about 30 minutes later it was ready. It's super easy to park since it's a large parking lot and run in and out. I will definitely be getting more takeout from here for my family.

Overall, a great place to meet friends for dinner…read more This place gets super crowded during happy hour, and it makes sense because they're happy hour is fantastic. However, be warned that if you come even slightly after happy hour, which is about 7 PM that it may be very hard to find a table. The restaurant is quite large, so it is impressive how busy they are. I don't know when they started doing this, but now you can park on the grass in front of the restaurant so it makes parking a lot easier. You don't have to be worried about finding a parking spot in their lot. I got a Yoshi roll and a salmon skin hand roll. Both were pretty good. I wouldn't say this is the best sushi ever, but it is solid and pretty much the only option in this area. The lychee martini is sweet, so if you like your drink sweet, this is for you. I tried the lavender margarita after, which was delicious and had a good taste of lavender. They were a good combination since I don't think I overly loved either, but I liked both. They do have a huge opening to outside and a large outdoor eating space. So if you're prone to mosquitoes, you may want to spray yourself just in case you end up sitting outside or near the outside area. They also have quite a few TVs and a large bar. Our server was fantastic, she was really nice and efficient. She had a great personality. This is a solid place to grab food and I know I will be back.

Recently, we decided to get together with some longtime friends, and one of them suggested Sushi Alive--so we gave it another try. We were a group of nine and arrived around 5:00 p.m. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed and taken great care of all evening. Nancy--affectionately known as "Beautiful Nancy"--was our server, and she did an outstanding job. The food came out efficiently, everything was well-timed, and she handled a complicated four-way split check without missing a beat. I was honestly surprised at how good the food was. We ordered the sushi and sashimi entrée along with a salmon and cream cheese roll--everything was fresh and delicious. We also had the spicy seafood soup, which brought back memories from when Sushi Alive was located in Northdale, and it was just as good as I remembered. I even snagged a taste of the calamari appetizer, which was excellent. Big thanks to Nancy for making it such an enjoyable evening. Sushi Alive is officially back on our list, and we'll definitely be returning soon.
