Looks are deceiving! The best lobster roll I've had since going to Maine. It doesn't look like much, but the food was outstanding! Service was quick, and very friendly guy. Clam chowder was also wonderful. Highly recommend! read more

I'm sorry for leaving such a bad review but I'm more sorry that I had to leave after 45 minutes of waiting for the special, a lobster and pasta dish. No communication from the server lady. I would have loved to at least received a heads up that they ran out of pasta. read more

The other day I called to place an order over the phone because they did not have the fish and chips to order online and they could not even make an exception. Told me I have to come in to order it and would only take like 5-7 minutes. While on my lunch break finally and I'm the last hour of their business day I walk over to order it and they already started to close the kitchen and I could not even order what I wanted. Normally love this place since its so close to home and my roots up north like my home seafood taste but this really but a tick in my options about this place again in the future read more

This is a seafood market and a restaurant. It's in a very strange neighborhood so I'm not sure how it is in the evening. Went there on a Sunday afternoon and I was the only customer until I was just about ready to leave. I had a live lobster, and since I saw it prior to it being cooked, I was not worried about it being not good. They only had a few lobsters to choose from which was a bit concerning considering it's called lobster Haven. It was done very well and next time I have a craving for lobster. It's probably the place I'll stop back to. read more

I was visiting Tampa from the Chicago land area and could not wait to enjoy some fresh seafood, especially lobster. I was pleased to see that this restaurant was located near our hotel. I ordered takeout one evening. I decided to try the UConn lobster roll, with corn, fries, and potato salad. The food did not disappoint! It was absolutely delicious. The only issue that I had is that they did not include any eating utensils or napkins. Nor did I have any at the hotel. So it was very interesting to try to eat this food without anything to eat it with. If I'm ever back down in Tampa again, I would definitely come back here, but will check the bag for utensils. read more

Been there several times for a lobster dinner. I take family members there for their birthday. Always delicious. One problem, I tried calling them and left a message on the answer machine (it was early afternoon). I'm still waiting for a return call. I guess they don't want to supply a 30 person clambake. read more

Please let this review be a warning! This is NOT the place to go for lobster! My lobster was so tough and rubbery no one could eat it! I couldn't even cut it with my knife or fork. This lobster dish was $40.00! All the "management " said was "sorry, my boss said to give only 10% off." This was ridiculous! My husband and I were extremely disappointed especially after reading some of the reviews. I've heard that Lobster Haven put in great reviews for themselves. I should have trusted that claim! We will never go again. read more

the UConn lobster roll was fresh and incredibly delicious. The gentleman who served us was friendly

On today's episode of why haven't I gone here sooner... I've been wanting to check out Lobster Haven for a long time now, and I'm so glad to finally make the trip! I love lobster rolls, and it's kinda rare to get my hands on some that's NOT all the way out in the beach and outrageously expensive, so here we go... True to its name, Lobster Haven serves lobster rolls on top of all kind of dishes with lobster, but also other sea food as well. The first thing I got was the lobster roll. It was simple and delicious, boasting a healthy pile of chilled lobster on top of a buttered split roll and the right amount of mayo. It came with a side of fries and you can choose between potato salad and coleslaw. Had I known it came with fries, I would have gone with the coleslaw, because that's an awful lot of potato, but then again, I'm always down for homemade potato salad. Next time I'll get the UConn roll with coleslaw so I can eat the fries. Welp, my appetite for this place hasn't been satiated, so I had to come back for seconds, so I toted my adorable baby shih tzu, Muffin, with me. (Disclaimer: dog friendly, but I recommend you always ask first, and she's in a stroller) I just HAD to get the Lobster Mac and Cheese, another dish that somehow is becoming harder to find. My goodness I'm in love. Their mac n cheese is delicious with a generous helping of pasta with spicy cheese sauce (which gives it a unique flavor with an extra Ka-POW) and once again another generous helping of lobster that does justice to their namesake. This is such a cool place with the interior decor screaming New Orleans vibes with the Royal Purple walls and beautiful impressionist art hanging on them, so it feels like I've never left the city. The people here are super cool, friendly on arrival and welcoming of me and Muffin. This will have to be a new regular haunt for us for sure. read more

When I say I want shrimp, this is the size I want! We went to Lobster Haven in search of jumbo shrimp, but had no idea this is what I would find. Not bad for the cost, I got about 7 for $25 +tax. They were frozen solid and only took a few minutes to thaw. The location isn't the cutest, so don't expect that. But when visiting a seafood/type market, I wasn't expecting glitz and glam. It smelled like a seafood spot, and looked like one. They have a small counter with fish and such, and a freestanding coolers with more seafood and these large shrimp. There is also a small restaurant connected to the market. It is a bit dated but I'm sure locals that frequent here love it. Cant wait to go back and get more shrimp and maybe check out what else they have. read more

Enjoying a seafood dinner to celebrate my birthday. This is a small bar/restaurant with a seafood market as well. Very kitschy but great! We started with cups of clam chowder that was hot and smoky as they add bacon and smoked paprika. We also had lobster claws and then they brought out fried salmon bites that they are having people sample to see if it should be added to the menu (yes it should because it was delicious!) Then for dinner Rich had whole belly clams platter (came on a bed of onion straws with French fries) and I had conch fritters and garlic feta shrimp (both are appetizers). The conch fritters had a wonderful seasoning and although they look dark in this picture, they were fried perfectly. The garlic feta shrimp sauce had actual bits of feta and garlic instead of being blended. Everything was delicious and we will definitely be back as there are other menu items we want to try! read more

Just since I have yet to forget how horribly the owner and workers treated me when I brought this to their attention. Heres actually scientist proving it, but the owner will still probably say it's ok to boil lobsters alive and rib their claws off while alive. Shouldn't support these people. Hopefully they choose to educate themselves and humanly treat the animals that make their business. read more

Been here several times over the last 1.5 years. Always a fantastic meal! The staff is attentive and does a good job. Highly recommend!

This cute little restaurant/ shop is like being in Bar Harbor! Their lobster chix and PEI mussels are always fresh and at a good price. If you want fresh seafood, skip the supermarket and check out Lobster Haven! read more

fantastic super fresh New England seafood and crab. most favorite for Lonster and hard to find clams

Rudest encounter I have ever had. Owner is completely unhinged, do not give this man your money. I ordered 10 lobsters cracked (in advance) for Mother's Day. While waiting for my order the owner came out, in a loud and aggressive manner asking whose order is this, and then proceeded to scream at me if you want them cracked you can wait 30 mins. The order was already cooked so I simply asked in a calm manner"why 30 minutes?" Which he then screamed at me I'm not going to argue with you you let me know what you decide, left the lobster dumped on the counter and walked away. Thankfully an employer at the counter took care of this, but this man does not deserve your business. read more

Ok. I never do this but this was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. It will make this short. To start, we saw a live rat scale the wall in the back and climbed into the air conditioner. Upon telling the waiter / slash cook ( stains of food all over his shirt with little to none in waiter skills...) he said oh, I can't believe it, need to talk to the landlord. And that was that. No discount, no sincere apology, no nothing. My brother wanted to give them a shot so we stayed...The meal was not good, scallops were not done properly, the place was very very dirty, the bathroom was disgusting. We stayed as my brother did not want to make a fuss. The food was sub par and honestly, trying to get rid of the rat vision I had coupled with the nasty unclean space, was more than hard. Kind of expected when we had the bill that he would have done something in the form of a discount, or even a simple apology. But nothing. I could write for hours on this terrible experience. My recommendation is don't. Just don't. Don't eat there. Ever. Unclean- unsafe to eat. Never will ever go there again. Last, I need to place a call to the health department in the morning. read more

I am from Maine born and raised and this was a disappointment!! The lobster roll had almost no mayonnaise I had my wife take the lobster meat off the roll and mix it with mayonnaise in a bowl before I ate it and put it back on the roll before i ate it. Decent amount of lobster but very bland, the fries were seasoned and were pretty good. The clam strips were horrible!! Literally tasted like microwave rubbery and soft and not good at all. The clam chowder was probably the best thing pretty good all around. Definitely wouldn't order here again but had to try it once at least. read more

Divey but Delicious! Do not go here expecting a fancy restaurant. Half of the place is a store, and you can also order fresh seafood. The other half is the bar and restaurant. It's not a huge place, and it filled up quickly after we arrived for lunch on a Friday afternoon. We ordered the Gold Bucket and upgraded to a 1 1/2-pound lobster. We also ordered conch fritters. Everything was so good. The lobster, clams, and mussels were flavorful but not overseasoned, so you could definitely taste the freshness. This was my first time trying conch fritters, and now I'm hooked! They're light, not greasy at all, and have a good amount of conch meat. I was pleasantly surprised by the potatoes in the boil. They actually put care into them. They were diced and seasoned so nicely. They didn't just throw whole, unseasoned potatoes in there (we never eat those). From what I could tell by looking around at what other people ordered, the buckets and lobster rolls were pretty popular. read more

Was excited to finally try this place. Everything tastes fresh which was awesome. However, it's definitely on the pricey side. Great little local place that was a new discovery for us. Great personal service and the food was fantastic. Can't wait to go back!

Fantastic service and delicious seafood. I've been coming here for years every time I'm down in Florida. This time, I came for the all you can eat crab legs ($65/person) and it was absolutely divine. Every cluster came out perfectly cooked with some delicious butter on the side. I also love the marina-themed decor inside. Would definitely recommend coming here!!! read more

If you are looking for an elegant dining experience or you want all your seafood steamed and served in a single plastic bag, this is NOT your place. If, however, you are looking for the freshest seafood around properly prepared and served by staff who treat you like neighbors (the good kind), this IS your place. I have probably eaten there 40-50 times. When my mother lived in a nearby independent living facility, it was her favorite place to go for an "outside" meal. Even though my mother sadly passed away several years ago and I live half the county away, I still make the trek as often as possible. I am a huge fan of their Maine lobsters as well as their shrimp. In all the times I visited with Mom, friends or by myself, I've never left disappointed. Get on their mailing list as they run frequent specials. Today's special was twin lobsters in varying sizes and they were excellent. read more

We went to lobster haven when we were in tampa visiting my friend and everything was absolute perfection. The service was amazing and the food was even better than the service. Everything was fresh and all the flavors were impeccable. The only negative thing I have to say is that I am sad I do not live close enough to come here all the time! I wish I had taken pictures of the food but I was too busy eating it to remember a picture. read more

not bad but a little pricey. Lobsters were great as well the steamer clams from up north

Stopped by here on a Wednesday at 12:30 with a church friend. I had noticed great ratings lately and taken special note that they served Belly Clams. Not easy to find down South. We were welcomed and seated right away. I was a bit concerned that we were the only ones there, but several other tables soon filled up. Plus they apparently do a bustling carry out business. My friend had never had Snow Crab so he ordered that. I already made up my mind on the Belly Clams. I was about to ask if they were fresh when Tristan commented "The Clams will take longer because we have to shuck them." Woo Hoo! Exactly what I wanted to hear. I also ordered the Sea Scallops - to try them but all but two went home to my wife. Drinks came quickly. The food was a bit in coming but that was expected. Gave us some time to talk. My friend was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and given six months to live. So we had a lot to talk about. Food came after a bit, hot and yummy. My Belly Clams were absolutely terrific. Crispy outside and soft inside, with sides of coleslaw, corn on the cob and fries. My friend tried a couple clams for the first time and was impressed. And he really enjoyed his Snow Crab. Said they reminded him of steamed crabs from Mobile Bay where he grew up. I did want to try the Scallops and they were delicious, with a side of potato nuggets. The food was great, service by Tristan was great. Definitely a place to return for trying other dishes. read more

This place is a hidden gem when it comes to seafood. I haven't been to this restaurant for more than six month now. So I forgot how good and fresh the seafood is there. I can say they serve some of the best seafood in the Tampa area. If you love lobster, Calamari, that's the place to go. read more

This was my second visit here; both times I enjoyed a Lobster dinner. I am not a big fan of chain restaurants (especially the area crab chains); Lobster Haven offers a local feel while keeping more money in the community-- two positives in addition to its quality food products & quality service. The restaurant doubles as a SEAFOOD MARKET; for purchase are the following: Maine lobster; snow crab; fish (including grouper); shrimp; clams (multiple sizes); black mussels; & oysters. The five-page restaurant menu (see pics) offers a wide variety of choices. Maine lobsters are bought by size; they are the foundation of the available "BUILD YOUR OWN BUCKET." The buckets include items you'd find in a seafood boil, such as clams; muscles; shrimp; crawfish; snow crab; sausage; corn; potato; & crayfish. Each item price is listed; each item can be added to the LOBSTER STARTER, which is available in the following sizes: Small ($23.99); 1 & 1/4 lb ($29.99), 1 & 1/2 lb ($34.99), & Large Lobster ($23.00 per pound). In lieu of Maine lobster, diners can select either a SNOW CRAB STARTER @ $17.99 or a CRAWFISH STARTER @ $12.99. MENU ENTREES include Glazed Salmon; Snow Crab; Peel & Eat Shrimp; Seared Sea Scallops; & Chicken Alfredo, etc. Offered are two STEAMER BUCKETS @ $41.95 & $39.99. There are four LOBSTER HAVEN SIGNATURE dishes: Lobster Roll; Crab Cake Sandwich; Ucon Rolls; & Blackened Mahi Tacos. FRIED ENTREES include Fish & Chips; Shrimp Dinner; Shrimp Po Boy; Fresh Grouper Sandwich; & (Whole) Belly Clams. Rounding out the adult menu are the APPETIZERS, SIDES, SOUP, SALAD, & DESSERTS-- five shrimp appetizers; New England Steamers; Hard Shell Clams; Oysters on the Half Shell; Black Mussels; Crab Cakes; Smoked Fish Spread; Conch Fritters; Calarmari; Jazzy Shrimp; New England Clam Chowder; Lobster Chowder; Ceasar Salad; Coleslaw; Potato Salad; Steamed Broccoli; French Fries; Seasoned Red Potatoes; & two desserts. (The Bread Pudding is very good.) There are five KIDS' MEALS ranging in price from $1.99 (a hotdog) to $9.95 (Chicken Parmesan). Our entrees (Lobster Buckets) were very good-- see pics. Service by Marcus was excellent-- fast & friendly. The dining area was clean & quaint. BEER, WINE, & MISC. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES were available for purchase. Menu prices were expected. If you're interested in SOUVENIRS, the restaurant offers colorful namesake t-shirts; buoys; & miscellaneous trinkets. We both enjoyed very good seafood dinners (again) & won't hesitate to return. This is not a fancy, upscale restaurant, but it's definitely a place to visit for fresh seafood cooked well, as well as friendly service. read more

When you first walk in, you'll question your decision, it looks like a fish camp local diner. But, the staff, especially Ted the chef, are extremely personable, helpful and very knowledgeable. The food is phenomenal and reasonably priced for fresh seafood. The Golden bucket was worth the price. The only downside is they don't have much for land lovers but the chicken Alfredo is freshly made to order and very filling. Cold beer with cold glasses. Will definitely go back!! read more
