They do alterations and helped us select Sangeet, Haldi, Indo-Western, and pastels for multiple wedding events. Excellent selection, fair pricing and great service. I'd highly recommend this spot for any wedding / special occasion Indian outfits! I was looking for a men's kurta / sherwani for a sangeet and the man at the front desk (didn't catch his name) suggested their kurtas as the more affordable but still stylish option, and then worked with us to go through ~10 styles until we found a couple we really liked. They were on the higher end of the kurtas they had so one was ~$250. Loved the non-pushy approach to the sale and all the helpful suggestions on style, pairing with my partner's lehenga, tailoring advice etc. They also don't charge extra for tailoring which is nice! read more

I came in knowing I needed something for a traditional Indian wedding -- and honestly not knowing much beyond that -- and they took care of me from start to finish. The selection is incredible. Every color under the sun, a range of styles I wasn't expecting, and it never felt overwhelming because the staff genuinely knew their stuff. Everything feels curated by the best tastemakers so all you need to do is walk in and see what you or someone you'd like to get something special for would like. It's obvious many of the books are also carefully and thoughtfully chosen and Jaya confirmed the owners are very intentional about what they include on the store shelves. I ended up buying 4 items of clothes and a wireless little table mushroom lamp. I was tempted by everything else including jewelry and a felt rainbow home decor thing. Money can't buy happiness and it can't replace my dog but these things have brought me some joy and therapy. After hunting for Indian outfit from Hayward to Sunnyvale finally we found gorgeous outfits at AKARSHAN DESIGNS AND BOUTIQUE. AKARSHAN DESIGNS AND BOUTIQUE: Have great collection of latest outfits and accessories. Very reasonable in pricing for a one stop shop. Absolutely wonderful experience at this boutique! I was in a bit of a panic trying to find a last-minute outfit for my first Indian wedding, and they absolutely saved the day. The staff is incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to help me find the perfect outfits. They were patient and knowledgeable, they and took the time to explain the different styles and options that would be appropriate for a Haldi & Mehndi and wedding ceremony. The selection of clothes was stunning, with beautiful colors, intricate embroidery, and a wide variety of styles to choose from. They even helped me accessorize my outfit perfectly. I had found this place on yelp and was pleasantly surprised by great experience The service is good with very friendly owner and staff who did not rush me at all and kept sharing more items to try. I had gone last Saturday afternoon to choose the outfit and came back with something i really, I loved. GREAT PERSONALITY OF BOTH OWNERS n EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. My wife regularly shops at the store for her self and for both of my kids. I have been to the store three times and found both of the owners as kind and very friendly. Their products are unique and reasonably priced. This place is a really nice boutique to get Indian clothes without having to go all the way to Berkeley. I went here with my mom and the service was very good. The outfits were really cute and the jewelry was especially nice. The fancy jewelry was perfect for an occasion like a wedding. The best part was that the store was not cluttered, like a lot of Indian boutiques. There is a whole section to browse sarees and suits were hanging on display so you can flip through them easily. I was invited to my first traditional Indian wedding. My wife and I were a day away and had nothing to wear. I came in to Akarshan Designs and they were AMAZING! Tons of great options and styles. I'm pretty tall with broad shoulders so buying things off the rack is always a challenge. That said, they were able to help me with a Kurta that fits (and that looks really nice). I visited Akarshan Designs Boutique about a week ago in search of clothes for an upcoming wedding in India. I am not Indian myself so I didn't really know where to begin. The man and women working in the store were friendly and helped explain which outfits would be appropriate for the different ceremonies. The store had a large variety of colors, styles, and designs for men's and women's clothing. I was able to try on several options before ultimately purchasing three kurtas in white, yellow, and blue. Somehow, she managed to reattach the train and hem it properly at the correct length.
