Conveniently located in the plaza with the movie theater. How can I not stop in regularly for a…read moresweet treat. I am currently addicted to their sea salt caramel squares covered in chocolate. That chewy caramel bite can't be beat when that salty flake kicks in. Ugh so good. We occasionally order sliced candy apples, ice cream, or their large rice krispy treats to take into the movies with us also. Have not had a item we haven't like. They even have chocolate covered bacon and plenty of fruity candies for you to bag yourself. There are no other full candy stores in Alhambra with this kind of variety.

They also serve ice cream & milkshakes and have some cute gift items too. It smelled so good when we walked in. A friendly Danielle greeted us with a happy "Hello." The chocolates were very tempting, and they had some creative options like Chocolate Covered Jalapeño. I joked that they even had chocolate covered bacon. My friend was so excited she bought one. The candy apples were hard to resist. However, I saw a sign that said, "New: Dubai Pistachio Truffles," so I had to try one. At $4.99 it was a bit pricey. The crunchy pistachio center was a delightful surprise. I had expected it to be a creamy filling, but this was a nice contrast. I could taste the pistachio and it paired well with the chocolate outer shell. I'm glad I decided to get it.

Galco's will forever hold a special place in my heart…read more This is the OG grocery store we would walk to in the early 80"s. When they had penny candy machines, a big taxidermy deer head and the kindest owner. He once gave me and my sibling a big paper lunch bag full of candies! I love seeing the original check out stand, the little upper office where the owner would stand and the old fridge area where it once held fruits and veggies now old school candy bars. If you grew up in highland park in the 80s, this was the local market. How I miss those days! Highland Park is so different now! Btw Galco's makes some of the best sandwiches! Also if anyone knows where to get Stoney Tangawizi please let me know!

First: I used to love this place. As a fellow small biz…read moreowner nearby, I supported and promoted this place as one of the long standing coolest stores on the Eastside. It has such a selection of candy from your childhood, and for kids, random unique gifts to keep them busy. but yesterday...all that flew out the window. I approached the sandwich counter and asked the person working (an angry woman apparently) what her favorite sandwiches are. After she took a minute to complain about how she had been making sandwiches all day and her brain is fried and she didn't really have any recommendations for me (and was seemingly annoyed at me even asking) she looked at the clock and advised that I was 2 minutes too late to order a hot sandwich. literally the 2 minutes she took to complain about her job cost me the sandwich. now, if it was my shop and a nice family came in and asked me my opinion on something and I took a minute or two to say the things that she said I would give them a sandwich and make that sandwich be the last sandwich of the day, but instead apparently my money wasn't green enough for her. She shut it down and two minutes later was out the door. she was rude, and honestly it just seemed that she didn't give an F. Today I called the store to speak with the owner and the person who answered the phone gave me the runaround. it was clear that either the workers didn't want to connect me with the owner or the owner doesn't want to hear the complaint. this place has gone downhill.

Best caramels ever! So insane better than any you've ever tasted…read more Also love their regular menu and the quaint mom and pop shop locals feel they've cultivated. Service is always quick and well done!

It pains me to write this because this place is cute and the pastries and brunch/lunch dishes have…read morealways been delicious, but the service and wait time here is consistently a disaster. There's never enough menus to go around while waiting to order. As a nice gesture, I let those behind me have our menu after we had decided and described the dish I wanted to the women working the counter. This dish was written on their menu by name, a melon prosciutto bowl, but she was very confused and eventually keyed in a prosciutto scramble which was not what I wanted and not listed anywhere on their menu (I double checked). There's not many tables, and nobody seems to clear them with any urgency even though there are always many people waiting to sit down. The last three times I have been there, the food took at least 30-40 minutes to come out after ordering, which is insane for a counter service cafe with a dozen tables. Any time I've asked how much longer on our food, the staff is very dismissive and rude and just barks 'we're busy!' .... OK? You're literally ALWAYS busy, is there not any way you can plan or staff for this in advance? The food runners always seem confused about what food is going where and are inconsistent with bringing silverware. The cherry on top of this last visit is that the rest of my party got their food (again, after about 35 minutes), with a promise that my dish was 'on its way'. We waited ten minutes before approaching the hostile staff at the counter to find... my dish, the scramble that I didn't even order and wasn't on their menu, had been sitting already made for the whole ten minutes. Nobody thought to grab it and deliver it, and when we asked about the dish and wait, were met with hostile shrugs and blank stares. Again, the food is delicious, but I won't be back until they fix their disastrous service and attitude.
