My favorite place for Sushi hands down. Always fresh. Good service. Nice atmosphere. Nice menu for cocktails too.

We love it here! We come for lunch all the time there's so many choices in Smithtown, and this is one of our favorites!

Ridiculously long wait for a couple of sushi rolls. We ended up here because our favorite place was closed...now I know to just wait til the next day and go THERE. We've never had such a ridiculous wait for our food to be served at lunch time, so we certainly did not expect it on some random Monday night. Had dinner here last night with my sister, Aunt and Uncle. My uncle usually only orders a California roll and my Aunt sticks to the tempura; my sister likes hand rolls, and I like to try lots of different things. My task was to expose all of them to something new and my Aunt and Uncle were excited to have me, an 'experienced sushi eater' help them order. I was immediately impressed with the diverse menu and interesting combos under the section of special house rolls. Also they have a great selection of cold sakes, where you buy the bottle and it comes served with glass shot glasses for serving (as opposed to the small ceramic 'thimble' cups I am used to) and a bucket of ice to keep it chilled. Our waitress Kiko was equally impressive, remembering our complicated order without writing anything down. And she got it all correct on the first go! We had an order of the 8-piece House Sushi as our appetizer - it came out fast and was very fresh, with 8 pieces nigiri (2 pieces each of 4 diff fish) and 6 pieces spicy salmon. My Uncle tried all of it and enjoyed it. For our mains we got a couple pieces uni sashimi, a crunchy scallop hand roll, a Snowflake roll, a 5th Ave roll and a salmon roll made with cucumber - can't remember what it was called. All delicious, super fresh (especially the uni, which was served on a carved cucumber) and good portion sizes. My Aunt and Uncle tried everything and really liked the 5th Ave roll; neither loved the uni but I knew it would be a challenge and I'm glad they tried it. I loved it and ate the rest. BONUS!! We also got an order of the shrimp and veggie tempura - this was a GREAT value - really large portions with a great variety of veggies and the tempura was perfection. My Aunt ate most of this and was really pleased. We saved room for dessert and got the raspberry bomb after seeing it served to another table. It was a delicious raspberry sorbet covered in dark chocolate and cut into 4 pieces - one for each of us - and plated really beautifully. I would highly recommend it. The only gripe I have is that it was loud in the place, but that's mostly because it is such a popular place. We had a 6 pm reservation and by the time we left every table was full and people were waiting. Seemed especially popular with young couples on dates. I don't live in the area but would go back in a second. I felt the quality, diversity of offerings and ambiance were really great. Go there! read more

We stopped by this place to celebrate my wife's birthday. The good: In general - food was not bad. Tasted good, and looked fresh. Now, to the bad part: We ordered a lot of food. And someone probably decided that why 5 people with 2 small kids need that much, so for $26 of House special Sashimi, we got 12 thin and small pieces of fish. In other sushi places, each piece is at least 2 times bigger. (rip-off)... We ordered 5 special rolls. Each $17+. To another bad surprise, all 5 were the size of a small regular $4 roll, that you get for lunch in other places. Tasted good, had some interesting sauces on top, but unforgivable small. Also, the food was cold or barely warm, when it finally got to our table. I am talking about other food, that we ordered, not sushi. That was a bentobox, 2 Udon Soups, Teriyaki appetizer. We used to love this place, but I do not think, that I will go there again. read more

I come here a few times a month for their amazing lunch box specials! They're super affordable and two people can eat an extremely filling meal plus it comes with soup & salad for less than 50$ for two! AMAZING! read more

The service here is very nice, the servers and the manager were very attentive. The food was also very good, although expensive for what you get. My roll cost 17 bucks, and didn't really satisfy me. Overall I don't think I would come here again, but the food and service is good. read more

Made a reservation for 7pm, they told us there were other people in front of us waiting, and that we would have to wait as well? While we waiting, we noticed that there was a table full of receipts and a big crowd just hovering over them... what? The hostesses seemed frantic and overworked, confused, shaky... 730pm, still standing outside waiting- so we left and they never called to tell us our table was ready. Went here for sushi night dinner. Ordered edamame, sweet potato roll, and a sunshine roll. It was my first time trying the sunshine roll (coconut shrimp, pineapple, and something else but i forget) and I was pleasantly surprised. The service was efficient. My water glass didn't even go empty before the waitress was there filling it up again. It was a little cold in there however so definitely wear a light jacket. read more

Aji 53 is outstanding! I was so happy they decided to come to Smithtown! I have always been a fan of the Bay Shore location. I don't believe you can find fresher sushi anywhere around. I look forward to my usual Sunday happy hour (at the bar) where their specialty cocktails are heavily reduced *(We'll Always Have Paris)* - a LUSHious combination of Grey Goose, Chambord, fruit juice, and champagne. Specialty rolls and select appetizer are also half priced. A great deal! Service here is as always impeccable. From entry to exit, you are treated to real individualized service - something that is rare these days! I significantly appreciate the complementary edammame on my last visit. Thanks guys! The decor is absolutely stunningly modern, which in combination of the exquisitely presents sushi dishes, makes for a 4-D experience in living art. Much to my disbelief I cannot believe I've never reviewed Aji. Aji gets a 4.5 from me. Kotobuki will still keep its reign as my number 1 sushi spot. Today I had the lunch special of two rolls with miso soup. I had a California roll and a Spicy Onion roll. Sadly I enjoyed my California roll better than the Spicy Onion. As far as the Spicy Onion the spice I was tasting was nothing in the roll until I dipped it into my wasabi laden soy sauce. I also had the pork gyoza. Aji always makes their gyoza nice and crispy... just the way I like it! Lunch was good but I think I rather come for dinner. More hub bub going on too at dinner time. Aji you make a mean Angel Roll (thank you Dan M. for getting me into that roll) and the American Dream. Both go great with a glass of Riesling or some Sake. I prefer Riesling. Been here years ago. Today Friday , it was busy and bustling ...I ordered veggie tempura ...one of my favs. But it was a struggle to even get the servers attention after a civil amount of time. I wanted to actually leave , we hadn't ordered yet. But we stayed and it wasn't an even fair visit. Waiting waiting and more waiting. I think they forgot us. The tempura was good . That's all I ordered. It was a below par visit and if I dont at least recieve good service I dont go back to any given place.Period. read more

We're been searching for a good japanese restaurant and we finally found one. This restaurant is very clean. The staffs are friendly and knowledgable. The food are extremely taste great. If I live in Lake Ronkonkoma, I would choose this restaurant as my sushi place. The atmosphere inside was great. The waiters were polite and courteous. The food was terrific. I ordered the sushi platter for two, which was at most $55. The nigiri, sashimi, and rolls were fresh and hand-rolled. Most sushi restaurant that I have been too served their plates with meager amount of fish. Not this place. The sushi platter as filled with an assorted variety of fish and rolls. I ordered online for home delivery, they delivered the wrong rice on two of the rolls. I called and they apologized and said they would deliver the right order but they need to take the incorrect order back with them upon delivery. I handed the delivery man the incorrect order ..... GROSS !!!!! He stated that he needed to take it back because people try to get free food. They messed up the order, I wasn't trying to get a free meal.... how ridiculous!!!! Of course I didn't eat the incorrect food! I've dined in this restaurant, ordered food for delivery and pick up for many years. That's just bad business!!! I have been going to Aji 53 for over 5 years, it was alway my sushi and family go to. The only complaint I have is that their sushi signature rolls are now extremely narrow. I am getting less sushi for higher prices. Would like to see an improvement with the amount Of sushi you are getting in one roll. Please change Back to the way it was. Aji 53 is always our go to for years now. The sushi is great, i have had pretty much everything on the menu. The special rolls are great, the sashimi is fresh, and all of the appetizers are excellent. The tuna salad, kani salad, and spicy edamame are great. For a real treat get the fried oysters, they come out hot and taste amazing. For lunch i get the bento box which are good too. If you come hungry and are craving regular food rather than sushi try the chicken teriyaki or the basil chicken. The location is great inside too, the bar is decent. The only thing i could fault is the waiters, they could be a little more personable. I hope you enjoy aji and hope this review helps you. read more

I spend enough money on 2 dinners and ask for extra dipping sauce, which I am charged for and I do not mind paying extra for IT, but give me my money's worth and DO NOT fill the little containers that you call extra fill half way full, really,??? It is not worth the extra fee Dollars! read more

Nice interior, clean, friendly staff. Accommodated my requests. Ample parking. Clean restroom. Beside Starbucks so that's perfect. Wasn't crowded but depends on the time you go. A bit pricey but nothing crrazy. My vegetables were a bit undercooked. My husband ordered salmon teriyaki bento in which the size was really small considering it's a dinner portion. We had a fabulous time and dinner at Aji 53 for Mother's Day. We hadn't been there in awhile and were soooo happy to be back. Their specialty rolls were so delish. I had the Christmas and Snowflake, yes, it was a winter wonderland theme for me. My husband had a sashimi platter the kids had udon (Plain), Bento box A with chicken teriyaki, shrimp tempura and spring roll. We started with basic drinks like Diet Coke and an Asian melon pop drink. The hubs had a beer. We. Kani salad and spicy crab roll to start. The bento box came with a soup or salad and my daughter got the soup and the husband got a salad with his meal. The atmosphere and decor is fancy chic and we scored a nice large table near the front with long drapery and modern light fixture above. There is a bar for patrons to have a drink while they wait for a table. Everything was very delicious. The tempura was cooked perfectly with a light crunch so good. I know this because I took a bite of the sweet potato tempura vegetables on the side. Give this restaurant a try if you want some delicious food:)) read more

Aji is my absolute go too place for sushi, their rolls are a little smaller than other sushi restaurants but the quality and taste of the roll outweighs that. if you like tuna, the spicy tuna roll is amazing. this restaurant offers a lunch special which is a really great deal. the philadelphia roll is awesome at this location because you don't get a little bit of salmon inside the roll, the salmon is ontop of the roll. if you love spicy mayonnaise this restaurant has the best i've ever had. the servers are all very kind and all help eachother. definitely recommend if you are a sushi lover read more

Food was fresh and presented beautifully. I enjoyed a dinner bentonite box which had a variety of items unplugging shrimp tempura, chicken teriyaki, and a spring roll. The monster roll was delicious.
