I purchased a 5.66lb bone in leg of lamb for Easter last week from the Smithtown location. When it finished roasting in the oven, we went to slice it and the entire piece of meat was gritty, had cartilage running through it, and approximately 1.5lbs of carveable meat. The bone was absolutely huge and made up for the majority of the eight that we paid for. This was incredibly frustrating. We barely had enough food to feed our guests. I am so disappointed because I have been shopping at this location for years and have usually been very pleased with our purchases. read more

Uncle Giuseppe's is insane!! Absolutely amazing all the different things they have. They have fresh sushi, pasta, pizzas, meats, and all imported items. Their Italian sushi was sooo good. I also love how you can see the employees making the fresh ravioli and mozzarella cheese. read more

Having my kitchen redone and hosting for the holidays, decided to cater from Uncle Giuseppe's & boy was it good! Ordered the "holiday package for 7" plus an additional side. You choose what you want in your package. I got the hot antipast, garlic mashed, cream spinach, string beans, stuffed pork, meat lasagna, and the rainbow cookie cheesecake. All delicious food. I wish they inserted the heating instructions inside the catering boxes instead of leaving them to the side during pick up, I forgot to grab mine. Anyways, picking up was simple. There's a dedicated section at the end of the shopping strip next to the store for order pick ups. Don't even have to go into the store to get the order. Plus the review everything with you. OMG!!! Being from California, I was on sensory overload. It is truly unbelievable the variety of Italian food here. They make their own everything here including mozzarella cheese, pastries, hot foods, salads, etc. For my first trip, I got the chicken francaise dinner, broccoli rabe, marinated artichoke with sun dried tomatoes and marinated mushrooms. Got some bottles of water, still and sparkling as well. On a second trip I tried out sweets. The rice cakes thing with drizzled chocolate was crispy and perfect with the not too sweet chocolate. I gotta bring some of these home!! The lobster tail, which is hubby's favorite, was okay. It has a cannoli filling versus custard. Looks like they have them but were sold out. I also got a cannoli and it didn't do anything for me. Everyone is very gracious in providing samples. It's my friend's thing which works in my favor because the cheese guy let us have generous samples of a few of their cheeses. We sampled the raspberry ruglach, pignoli and something from the deli. I loved the pignoli, always do. The crisp outside, chewy inside and pine nuts! However, $29.99 per pound is outrageous! Uncle Giuseppe's is clearly dedicated to quality and customer service. Unless all you care about is bread I'd stay away from any of their chicken or other party heroes. I feel ripped off. I even measured it and most of the sandwiches only had one 1/8 inch slice of chicken on it.... Guests were taking the contents out of one sandwich and adding to another... so essentially we paid double price. The eggplant party hero was pretty much the same. Times must be rough. Wow. This place has the most amazing selection of Italian products and foods! No where else can you get Italian soda and bitters drinks. The choices of pasta are amazing and there are so many products and specialty items you'll be In there for over an hour! They have their own brand of olive oil and make their own cheeses and Italian foods. They even have a candy counter. Last Saturday they had a man singing/serenading the shoppers sing classics and contemporary songs which was a lot of fun! My only criticism is that I am not a big fan of their ready made and prepared foods there, but that might be a matter of taste or preference. It was fresh, but just didn't really appeal to me the dishes I got. BUT they have everything and more you will ever need to make the best Italian dishes at home. From my first purchase years ago to Sunday's weekly haul I have been in love with Uncle G's. Each Sunday I take the most beautiful drive to Melville to shop the aisles chock full of treats. The staff at Uncle Giuseppe's Melville is INCREDIBLY friendly and warm! The roving Frank Sinatra style singer is one of the reasons I return each week. I find myself singing along as I toss nearly everything I pass in my cart. The STAR of the show though is the food. The side salads and dishes that I purchase are insanely tasty. I just finished a side of roasted acorn squash and pistachios that accompanied a chicken slider with cheese and parsley. Such excellence. I work for a non profit, and a generous donor wanted to donate dinner to the group home I work at for the staff and kids for thanksgiving. Meatballs, stuffed shells, seafood pasta and roasted veggies was donated to us. It was so delicious and the servings of both half and full trays were very generous. My favorite was the seafood pasta! Horrible. Every time I go here I'm so disappointed & regret the money I spent & they're not cheap!! Their seafood is never fresh. The cannoli cream is bitter. Their bakery items are so underwhelming. My aunt was in town from Florida so my mother brought her here around 12:30 PM on March 31. It was her first time. My aunt was delighted by the exceptional service and hospitality at the mozzarella service counter. A nice employee brought her a sample and she bought it shortly thereafter. An additional pleasant surprise was the provision of delicious chocolate pretzel treats delivered with a personal touch and an exchange of pleasantries. The pasta was freshly made; my aunt and mother even got to witness the artistry of freshly made stuffed shells. The atmosphere of the store was enhanced by aesthetically appealing produce. So, here's how it went down: It all started a few months ago, when you, being the sensible person you are, placed a simple order with your Uncle Joe's catering business. Maybe you asked for some classic Italian dishes: lasagna, gnocchi, a little pasta with marinara, a little tiramisu for dessert, you know, the essentials. Nothing too crazy, just some comforting Italian food for the upcoming family get-together. You trusted him. After all, Uncle Joe had been providing food for every family celebration since, well, since you could remember. His garlic bread alone could win awards. Every birthday, wedding, and even that one random Tuesday when everyone was feeling a little snacky, Uncle Joe had come through. The man was a legend in the family. But this year? This year was different. A couple of weeks before your event, you were about to confirm the order, and you get a call from Uncle Joe. "Hey, cugino," he says, all smooth and buttery, like he's about to offer you a lifetime supply of Parmigiano. "I gotta talk to you about the menu." You think, "Ah, here we go, Uncle Joe's coming in hot with some great suggestions to make this meal unforgettable!" Maybe he'll throw in a surprise side dish or a new dessert he's been perfecting. But no. Instead, Uncle Joe drops the bomb. "Listen, kid, I'm not gonna be able to do your order this year," he says, his voice way too casual for this betrayal. "I've got this big thing going on... Thanksgiving. Big Thanksgiving menu. Big sales. You understand. You get it, right? The turkey's gotta take priority!" Wait--what?! Thanksgiving? You sit there, stunned, holding the phone as if it's suddenly become a piece of radioactive waste. Thanksgiving? Your event was a month away, and you had asked for a perfectly reasonable Italian feast, not some turkey-and-stuffing monstrosity. Uncle Joe had just pulled the ultimate "bait and switch." As he rambles on about "all these new pies" and "the best cranberry sauce in the business," your mind is racing. How could he do this? How could Uncle Joe, the man who'd always been there for every family occasion, do you dirty like this for some random turkey orders? "I know, I know," he says, as if he's comforting you, but really, it sounds like he's just trying to clear his conscience. "But hey, we'll do it next time. Just let me know about Christmas. I got a killer lasagna recipe for that--" Next time?! There was no next time! You'd been waiting for this time for months! Long story short, Uncle Joe officially entered the ranks of "family members no longer invited to Thanksgiving dinner." The betrayal was too much. The wounds too deep. You're done with him. No more Sunday dinners at his house. No more pretending to laugh at his terrible "chef" jokes. Not invited to the table, ever again. You can't trust a man who'd throw you under the bus for mashed potatoes and gravy. So, now when you think of Uncle Joe, you don't think of the sweet taste of his signature marinara. You think of turkey. Dry, overcooked turkey. And cranberry sauce with an extra helping of disrespect. So, yes, Uncle Joe is no longer welcome at your table. I'm pretty sure I'm not the first shopper here to completely lose all composure because the Store Associates didn't even blink an eye as I wildly ran around taking pictures of literally everything up in this place. They must see this kind of behavior from foodies who lose their minds on a regular basis. And it's for good reason too as I can't say that I've ever seen over 11 different kinds of sausage in a display counter at one time. I'm telling you the Meat in this store is unbelievably incredible. They sell Homemade Soups and Sauces and I personally grabbed a Delicious Sunday Gravy Sauce with Braised Short Rib mixed in. The Bakery, OMG The Bakery is really quite impressive with it's 8 different kinds of Biscotti. The Prepared Foods Counter looks Amazing as well but the line was too long to attempt, still that's a Good indicator of a Great Food Counter. Picked up a pumpkin pie here on the Wednesday before thanksgiving. They had a bunch of Pumpkin pies that were warm and seemed to come right out of the bakery. Everything looked good until I put the knife into it on Thanksgiving eve...the pumpkin was almost all liquid!!! It never settled. Obviously this means the workers in the bakery messed up on the amount of ingredients in this batch. I can only imagine how many other peoples pies were ruined. Rotisserie Chicken; Out Of Stock with 1/2 hour lines way down the pickle aisle. Customer "Service" kept saying "they will be out in 5 minutes"; in 20 minutes they came up with 6 chickens for the 20 odd waiting in line and the wait would continue. Not me; I did not bring a chair. Refused to give rainchecks. The Manager had no clue as to what was going on; and I truly believe him. He definitely did not have a clue. They could have something nicer to us. So I'd like to start by saying by no way or shape am I looking for conversation or a friendly encounter when I go grocery shopping. But when I enter this store it makes me feel like it must be a miserable place to work. Every employee has a sour puss on their face from every department and check out line. When interacted with it seems like you're bothering them and they do not want to be there. The produce is some of the best in the area. The fresh mozzarella is some of the best I have had. The prepared foods are inconsistent which I'd assume at a large scale. None of it really stands out. I had a stuffed artichoke last week and it was similar to eating a handful of sand from the Saharan desert. The store is always clean but it is very tough to maneuver with a cart the aisles are tight and their end caps go out into the middle of them. It seems like the whole experience is a obstacle course of ornery employees and elderly melon squeezers to navigate to the good bread and cheese. If it wasn't so close I most likely would not frequent. read more

Love this store. We came from Brooklyn and being in Long Island is different. It's wonderful, but just different. I feel like I am seeing the same goods available at all the little mom and pop shops in Brooklyn combined into one grand store. It's Candyland for us. I really love coming here! They have a lot of imported Italian products as well as commercial brands found in other supermarkets. I love their bakery section! This is not your typical mediocre supermarket bakery though. Their cakes and small baked goods are bakery quality good. Customer Service is also excellent here. I had bought a coconut custard pie, and not sure what happened but it tasted off. I wrote them an email and they not only wanted to offer me a refund, but they wanted me to give me another pie on top of that. A few times when I went on Saturdays, they also have a guy singing live by the checkout area. I think their prices are more than fair, and competitive with other grocery stores. read more
