This Aldi wasn't as crowded as the one near me but I see the price was a little more expensive. I got 4 thinks chicken, mayonnaise, chips, and pickles and it was $24 not a normal Aldi price but it was clean like I said not crowded so the ambiance was better then the one near me in Bayshore at least cleaner fresher I guess. read more

This place rocks. The prices make it possible to shop and get a few extra things without breaking the bank. Organic whole milk is at least $2. Less than regular markets and the quality of the choices of products that ALDI's sells is terrific. They save money by having you pay .25¢ to use the cart, but if you return the cart like you're supposed to, you get your quarter back. You have to bag your own groceries but this is lot a bad thing. Your bread didn't get smushed that way unless you are a bread smusher which I am occasionally when I get too rushed or disagreeable. The cashiers are polite and you their isle of non-food stuffs is always fun and interesting. They had the best stuff during the holidays. A bunch of advent calendars which I loved from my youth and everyone gets one! I got one for tea for me, chocolate for my housemate, cheese for my best friend and cat toys and treats for my cat. Their products change sometimes and there aren't a lot of name -brands but their brands are pretty great. Their rice crispy treats were better the famous Keebler Elf brand (far too sweet comparatively) and they've got a Belgian waffle cookie I'm now addicted to. Highly recommend ALDIs. read more

Ok I like their prices.... This is where I stop . Yes everyone loves cheap goods as long as it fits the quality expectations ...I had to order online because I can't drive now and so it is my bad luck now to order online and have one of my sons drive me. Between not having a direct line to the location I go to and the mobile app being awful, I'm done! Half my order was not included and now just more issues. The food at Aldi is priced so low. It's so cheap here. They have the best priced eggs out of every grocery store. The place itself is not the nicest, but it doesn't really matter to me. Very big and clean. Like a mini Costco or BJ's. As other reviewers mentioned they have Aldi brand products. I don't like when I read the label and it says distributed by Aldi. Here's the Scoop: I've heard so much about this store that today I finally stopped in. So many non-named brand items that look delicious. I purchased some chocolate drizzled macaroons, a oven ready seasoned chicken, grapes, cherries, sugar and canned biscuits. I can't wait to cook the chicken and biscuits to see how they turn out. The fruit was sweet and delicious. The macaroons oh my, I think I might have to go back tomorrow because they're almost gone. Also I purchased a bag of potatoes, bell peppers and mixed peppers that were gorgeous. I definitely liked the price range and store set up. Very easy to find things. Friendly cashiers and a lot of interesting pastas and snack items. Gluten free aisle also. There's also Christmas items on sale like Disney Frozen, stuffed bears and other things, Next visit ill spend more time because really this us not a store to rush through. Shopping carts are a quarter and when you return cart to it's bin you get your quarter back. Reusable Shopping bags are 10c. I must come back here to slowly peruse the aisles. read more

For what it's worth Aldi is kinda cool yet kinda annoying all at the same time. I always wind up shopping with one of my reusable bags and the past couple of times I've used one of my Yelp bags. Yes I like to go green and I love my Yelp bags! Woohoo for Swag! Anyway Aldi has a few name brands here and there but it's hit or miss. One day you could get Cheerios next time not. That sort of thing. This past visit included getting the best corned beef hash from a can and some goat cheese. What a combination huh? No not together. That would just be gross! What really grinds my gears here at Aldi is how they usually have only one lane open. It's sometimes not so terrible but I wound up being behind two different people with filled carts. Talk about le suck! Thankfully said woman with second cart let me jump ahead of her and then I was out. I thanked her profusely and went on my merry way. Euro Grocery chain. Aldi is a new chain of no-frills cheap supermarkets that are sprouting up in the NY area. This is an interesting store in that it is completely no-frills. How do they keep the costs so cheap? For starters, the brands are unlike anything you know; it seems that they are mostly private label items. You know it is going to be an interesting shopping experience when you have to start out with a quarter to merely get a shopping cart. I haven't seen that in many years and it is somewhat annoying if you ask me. you do get your quarter back when you return the cart but really... The products seem to be a hodgepodge of things - unlike a U.S. grocery store, the selection is somewhat limited. What is available however is very cheap. For example, pure maple syrup, usually $5.99 elsewhere was $3.99 here. Store brand nonstick cooking spray: .99 cents. Like Trader Joe's there is a selection of cold and frozen products, but less so in the way of dinners; it is more like large bags of frozen chicken or 6 buffalo burgers for $5.99 (very cheap). I puttered around and got out of there for about $20. What did my $20 get me? The syrup, cooking spray, a bag of kettle chips, a bag of tortilla chips, a pack of sliced pepper jack cheese, their brand of multi-grain cheerios, a bag of frozen haricot verts, a packet of salad dressing mix (like good-seasons), 80 paper plates and a bottle of store brand chocolate syrup. Not too shabby. All the sizes were large or comparable to what you get at your local market. Be warned, I had to purchase a .06 cent paper bag to get the stuff to my car as they do not provide bags - very Euro like and since I haven't shopped in Europe in many years, I forgot about that. They only take cash and debit cards, so also be aware of that. All in all not bad - it would probably take a few trips to get to know what they have on a regular basis. To muddy the waters, they also have non-grocery items: a large selection of garden items on the day I went. There is also a fresh produce area and diary / meat area. The bread selection was basic. How could you Aldi !!!!!!????? Mama Cozi Calzone!!! I was perusing Ali's website & spotted the above mentioned item! I thought interesting as my wife many times doesn't know what to eat! As a result I called her as she was already there,I advised her of the mentioned above item ! She took the "bit" & bought it! Now today she decided to have the Mama Cozi Calzone! She took it out of the package & cut an end just to see inside! What a let down to say the least! A little bit of cheese , no sauce & the dough was white like Wonder bread white bread!!!! At any rate put in the microwave & then in the toaster oven. Then to make it palatable she put her own mozzarella cheese & sauce ! Then added garlic powder& italian seasoning! I send all the college and teen kids here. The are in possession of never ending hunger and scoop up food like it is going out of style. Aldi sells a random assortment of pantry supplies, fresh fruits, meats, frozen food and you-name-it-stuff for a song. Folks my age hesitate at first to visit. ("Didn't they get caught for selling extinct meat once?") But once they fill a shopping cart to the brim for a third of the normal price they're sold! The environment is like walking CostCo: Concrete floors but without any food samples. A nice perk of the frozen food section are the size of items. Products are sold in smaller quantities so you're not committing the entire freezer to five million pieces of shrimp. Oo la la! read more

It's difficult to determine if the seemingly stringent policies are part of a green initiative or just savvy business practices, but this place is BYO bags (or pay up), no credit cards (debit's cool, as I found out from the single cashier), and deposits for carts (just forgo one, foo'). Aware of this ahead of time, I just tossed my goods into my reusable bag during my jaunt and paid with paper; had I been blindsided by this, I wouldn't have been particularly flustered, but the fact nominal costs for amenities we take for granted is part of nearly all preceding reviews speaks to the uniform grocer culture across the region. Comparisons also abound, either far-fetched or too simplistic, but I will continue to digress: 1. Costco without the quantity & membership fee (for re-visits sans Costco Cash) 2. Trader Joe's in terms of manufacturer opacity/brand anonymity & potential cult-like following (like the woman in front of me who already knew all the staff by name AND memorized the specials better than they did) 3. Walmart in terms of produce providers but sans slime One thing that did leave me a bit disappointed was the Socialist-esque regimented entry of leading all entering customers down the same aisle (at least via the entrance I used). Regardless, while I wasn't nearly as overwhelmed with affection as I expected, another cult-like grocery virtually replacing another (TJ's, owned by the same mothership, was formerly a few doors down & relocated nearby). Aldi certainly lacks the eccentricity of its cousin, but the very vanilla feel can be kinda refreshing, reminiscent of a poorly executed educational documentary on the American food system. Left, $13.94 poorer, with an odd melange of dark chocolate with marzipan (German import), pickles, licorice (Australian import), maple syrup (Costco/Amazon-comparable price), avocados ($0.79, which in CA is still laughable, but registers as a sale on this coast) Beware anyone unfamiliar with this plaza (which abuts Smith Haven): Google Maps insists this is St. James, though it probably brings you to the correct coordinates. read more

I recently started shopping here thanks to a co worker who recommended Aldi... She shopped here during really hard times in her life and told me you will spend half the amount than other store.. I had to give it a try and this is totally true! They don't have all the brand names but let me tell you their brands are just as good for 1/2 the price you will pay anywhere else... I am not usually into rating supermarkets unless they are different than your run of the mill supermarket. This certainly falls into that category! I had no idea what to expect in here except that it was supposedly very much like the Aldi stores in Germany. It is. Aldi is also the parent company of the massively popular and excellent Trader Joe's. From the 25 cent deposit for the shopping wagon, pay for bags or bring your own, and european style register (top opening) it is much like the ones I have been to in Germany. Minus the gate when walking in that all German stores seem to have. I was expecting some interesting products similar to Trader Joe's but this was not happening. The products are all plain things you would find in a supermarket. The place seems like a cross between a warehouse club and dollar store. Very no frills, no music, pretty dead despite recently opening. The products are probably 95%+ house brands which have a good reputation for being cheap while steering clear of bad ingredients. The main forte here is price. Everything here is noticably cheaper than in regular grocery stores. Much cheaper. Butter was $2 lb, lunch meats for $3lb, $1.20 pineapple are some of the things I noticed. seemed that everything was 25-50% less than in stop and shop or similar places. So it will not replace all of my shopping, but a great place to get cheap quality goods with no stupid coupons, cards or portions not humanly consumable. Bring cash or have debit card with pin because they do not accept credit cards! Also bring bags and a quarter to get a cart. A welcome addition to the shopping in the area and will be back. read more

I hate having to say things like this: people rave about Aldi, but I can't see why. Okay...the first aisle displays cookies, chocolates, and chips. That'll lure you into a store all right. But once inside.... It's not the bag-your-own dictate that I particularly mind; it's the rat's maze of claustrophobic aisles that make you feel desperate and trapped as you wander around the cramped store, whimpering for a hope of locating the exit. Every item we tried, whether it was canned tuna or beans, boxed cookies or unappealing cheese, turned out to be substandard. If Costco and Ikea had an illegitimate child, Aldi would be it's name. I was in the area and so wanted to check this place out. To be honest I wanted to really love this place, and give a giant middle finger to the overwhelming cost of name brands in my local grocery. Unfortunately I wasn't amazed. Maybe it's all the time I've spent in BJ's and Costco that I've disconnected from everyday supermarket pricing. Buying "no frills brands" products at prices that are ok, doesn't "wow" me. the best prices of any grocery store around! I went on a friday evening and the store had a decent amount of people but wasnt "crowded". It was my first time visiting and it was kind of confusing at first the items are placed in odd places. Also the cart thing with the quarter was also odd. they had many unique items and some of the lowest prices ive ever seen, mac and cheese for 34 cents! i got about half a cart of groceries for $50 which is great in comparison to what i get at stop and shop. A few downsides is that their meat did not look very good so i wasnt able to complete my shopping, also they lacked a variety of cold-cuts. read more

When i first started shopping at aldi i was not impressed at all. We are all used to Brand names and most of the products are their own brands. So being a spoiled shopper, i did not like the store. I continued to return to the store and tried this and that. Bottom line is this. Not everything will be to your liking, but if your looking to save quite a bit on your shopping bill, this is the place to go. You pay a quarter to rent the cart and get it back when you return it. You bring your own bags and the check out is super fast. This store may not be for everyone, but we are saving a lot and still eating quite well. Give it a try. You will be glad you did! read more

Shopped here for the first time. Could not get the use of the cart since they are locked together. I found out you have to use a quarter to unlock them. You do get the quarter back when you return it. The other drawback was you had to pay for the bags which was seven cents each. You need to bring your own bags. The cost of the items was reasonable. Many no name brand items. This was a small place. read more

I am from Germany, so I was really surprised to find an Aldi in my neighborhood. Although this store is smaller than the ones I know from Germany, it seems to follow the same business plan, i.e. low-cost and high-quality store-brand products. What best sums this place up is the exact opposite of Trader Joe's. Crappy low-quality foods feels like a flea market. If you're looking for some bottom of the barrel deals and really on a tight budget this may not be a bad choice if everything is down to nickels and dimes. My biggest issue with this place is the low quality ingredients and chemicals. For instance raspberry jam first ingredient is corn syrup it's all just very unhealthy food as in most places but this place seems to be worse in order to give you these low prices. I love this Aldi and will continue to shop here every week. The selection of organic produce is small but by far cheaper than any other place I've shopped organic. They have a great selection of organic dairy too! The milk is surprisingly cheaper than my regular supermarket at just $3.30/gallon. They were very well stocked with friendly service and organized shelves. I love how reasonably priced everything is! Aldi is derived from Germany, but the US Aldi has fashioned it in a way where it only stocks mostly US made products. Aldi's in Australia are pure gold, always fresh and friendly and the quality of food is fabulous! Love it here and will shop frequently, only giving it 4 stars because I wish they had more organic produce :P read more
