The Lake Grove Trader Joe's location is my favorite Trader Joe's location. I live in Nassau County between 3 Trader Joe's stores, but none of them are as well-stocked and have such nice staff members. The staff members always ask if I found everything I'm looking for and then try to help explain when the next restock may be or to let me know the item won't be restocked until the next (ie, Fall) season. Extra kudos for how well organized their bag drops are. There's usually a limit of either 2 or 4 for their tote and cooler bag drops. The parking here can get a little bit crazy in the afternoon when the rest of the businesses in the shared lot are open (Old Navy, vet, Shake Shack, Nordstrom Rack, etc.) Overall, I'd recommend the Lake Grove location! read more

First time at this location. I needed to do a haul, and that's what I did right at opening; 8am! It appeared other customers had the same idea as myself. Great minds think alike ! I will say this was probably the best time to shop. The store wasn't overly crowded and all the shelves were completely packed out. I was able to get everything I planned on getting. What a beautiful store! I have been looking for a store that carries food that is gluten free and also dairy free for my wife and my youngest daughter. Well this is the place to go if that's what you looking for. They have a wonderful selection of food and their prices are very fair. Their staff is also very helpful very courteous and very pleasant. I love their vegetable section because I found many different vegetables like their fall and winter squashes that I have not seen in other stores.This is a beautiful store to shop at for specialty items and I really think you will enjoy it. It was my first time there. Great selection of food. Surprisingly very good prices. I would definitely go back I tried a couple of products some of them were really good some of them were kind of nasty. Next time I'll be a little more careful in the items I pick and make sure they don't say 100% vegan. Longtime customer, but with the empty shelves, low inventory , you hope they haven't discontinued the item. Food prices have risen, due to inflation but packing sizing had decreased too. Recently there are way too many food recalls. Also the layout isn't customer friendly with small isles. Other locations have much more friendly helpful staff and space. The flowers are nice, but you have to get there first thing in the morning. It's overdue to add 2-3 more Suffolk County location, definitely one South and also the East End because overcrowding is an understatement hazard as no one is monitoring how many customers are allowed inside at once! read more

I go to Trader Joe's in Westbury or Lake Grove once a week on a Sunday if not to buy groceries; then...to sample their food. Yesterday I went to the one in Lake Grove to buy some cake for my office birthday party. My birthday is today. Carisa was the closest employee standing in proximity to me, In response to my request for dessert recommendations, she told me that the Cinnamon Coffee Cake is popular year-round and is also a consumer favorite. So I purchased it. Carisa introduced herself to me as a manager and asked me if I would like to sample anything. I said yes to a sample of Trader Joe's Crispy Crunchy Broccoli Florets and one of Okra. I disliked them both even when dipped in Trader Joe's Eggplant Garlic Spread. Impressively, Carisa opened both packages and the Spread. She WOWed me. Of all the years that I have been shopping at Trader Joe's, I did not know that I could ask for samples of unopened products. Carisa also provided excellent customer service by surprising me with a bouquet of purple flowers and an exclamation of "Happy Birthday" as I I was paying for my groceries at the register. Purple happens to be my favorite color because it flatters me. I definitely look forward to my next trip to Trader Joe's, and from now on it will solely be the one in Lake Grove. read more

Recently I underwent surgery that currently makes speaking very difficult. I use a pen and pad to communicate. The entire team at the Trader Joe's Lake Grove Store couldn't have been more helpful,, what a wonderful team. I couldn't find a few items, I wrote down what I was looking for and one team member walked me over to the items. As I was checking the items another team member came over to ask if everything was all right and if I needed help with anything else. Mind you they assisted me as they were all busy restocking. Imagine a supermarket, but with better food and great selections. Trader Joe's is like an inbetween of Whole Foods and Stop and shop. The prices are fair and they always have two free sample stations with free coffee! The employees are generally very friendly and helpful when searching for products. Also, if you find schmooly the shark within the aisles you can win a grand prize of one lolipop. Nicole normally is too shy to embark on this adventure so I win the lolipop for her. I just walked out of Trader Joe's with a beautiful bouquet of flowers for my mother who is home awaiting surgery tomorrow for her broken leg. When checking out, I was asked by the cashier Pauline, if I was ready for the holidays. My response was "I don't know how ready I am my mom is home with a broken leg waiting for surgery tomorrow ". The next thing I know as I am waiting for my receipt she runs in a different direction and as I'm standing there, she walks back up to me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers wishing my mother nothing but good recovery and well wishes courtesy of Trader Joe's. I've been coming to this location since it opened and the service of the cashiers has consistently gone down. The floor staff is always very helpful, but that doesn't translate to checking out. They used to be very good at helping you bag the groceries, but now (in almost every case), they just stare into space as you struggle to get everything bagged by yourself. On my latest trip I approached a male and female cashier, trying to make eye contact to see who was available, but they were so engrossed in their own conversation, they just looked right through me. I went to another young man, who must be new to the store, who was very accommodating and helpful. He was so out of the norm, that I felt like writing this review. I would like you to know I was sick with Covid last in October.. very sick. I was able to stay home thank heavens. I took Paxlovid and drank Trader Joe's water with electrolytes. I feel that truly was a blessing to me to recover from the virus. I drank a glass of it three times a day. It kept my body hydrated plus the extras like electrolytes I stayed hydrated and I believe that was ice reason why I recovered in five days, I would also like to say how wonderful the vanilla cereal with clusters is the BEST cereal I've ever had. It is loaded with nutrients and protein that satisfies me all morning. Thank you Trader Joe's for making these two products. I say good things when they are warranted.. Like this .. I'll admit that at first I was a Trader Joe's hater. The first time I went was on an insanely packed Sunday and the products just didn't look that appealing to me. After going back a few more times, I am a fan of this store. It's about a 25 minute drive from my house, but I don't mind sometimes because I leave the store with unique goodies and the prices are great. I've tried a few of their products before and they have really unique and interesting items. One thing I love about the store is how friendly the cashiers are. It is so beyond refreshing to see happy people ring you up with a smile! And they don't scan overly fast like the cashiers at Aldi's (which truly annoys me!). NEVER EVER COME HERE ON A SUNDAY THOUGH! They tend to attract super rude, pushy and bitchy customers which makes shopping here unbearable if you really want to see what they have. read more

Child friendly! I love this location, the employees are the best! There's one employee who always offers to help me to my car when I have my son with me and lots of groceries! So sweet! Employees always offer stickers to my son at the cash register, which I appreciate because it keeps him busy so I can help bag up my food and pay. There's also a parking spot next to the handicap spots in the front for parents with small children. I always appreciate when stores have this. I was never a fan of Trader Joe's. I get it, it's definitely cheaper to shop there instead of Whole Foods but I feel it's just a big disappointment. The staff here is always friendly and the floral section is always in green great plant health. I love the fact that the lines are never too long and that they have tiny shopping carts to accommodate the toddlers ( little shoppers ) that's a big plus. They also have bag raffles at this location if you bring your own shipping bags and they give stickers to the children and the shark. How could we forget the Shark, the staff hide a shark and when your child locates the shark while your food shopping you go to the back of the store and tell the workers who works in the seafood department where you saw the shark and your child will be rewarded with a treat ( lollipop). Now here comes the reasons why I have to knock off some stars. They DO NOT I repeat DO NOT have a baby section to buy essential for your baby. The produce is NOT and I repeat is NOT always fresh. I went to purchased a bag of sweet assorted peppers we are now in Feb the bag said sell by Dec 2018 I find a problem with that a big problem and honestly this is not the first time I saw something dated months back. You must pick the fruit and berries carefully some boxes will already be molded . Yet I still continue to shop there from time to time. I really like they package Kale and Spaghetti sauce , teas and olive oil selections. I also like to buy lotion, body wash and soap. read more

This is my go to grocery store! Although the prices can be more on the expensive side, the quality and freshness of the food justifies it. I have never been disappointed in my trip to trader joes, from buying avocados to animal crackers to alcohol I am always able to find what I need! I especially like their animal crackers, it is my ultimate favorite snack and has a slight lemon flavor. The interior is always exceptionally organized and neat and the workers are always willing to help you find what you need. I love this Trader Joe's! On a busy Sunday, I wish it were bigger - but when it's quiet, it makes shopping SUPER easy. No need to walk a mile just to get from one item to the next. I can always find what I'm looking for no matter when I go. I was happy to be able to find the riced cauliflower which I heard can be tough to find at other locations. The staff here is also really nice! I'm yet to come across a cashier that isn't. Brian C., in particular, impressed me when he thanked the veteran ahead of me for his service. The fruit is always fresh. A lot of pre made healthy options for lunch and dinner to choose from. Love the kale spinach dip and the everything seasoning ! Wow- no lines at this location! Maybe it was the time we came here on a Sunday to pick up a few things for dinner, but early evening this place was a ghost town. There were maybe 20 people in the whole store and all the registers were wide open. I am used to the madness that is Trader Joe's in Manhattan. It's almost like battling Black Friday crowds every day in the city locations. This was a blissful shopping excursion! Smaller store though but not too bad of a layout as compared to the city locations. Clean, bright, organized. I love their snack mixes and assorted nut mixes. Good frozen foods section, produce, and breads. Were I live on the UES/Yorkville we have a Fairway and a Whole Foods is being built right now, but I would also love to see a Trader Joe's up by us to complete the trifecta of food porn! I am sure this place becomes packed on the weekends, but for now I will enjoy shopping here during off hours when visiting family in the area. No way will I move out to the scary suburbs just for a Trader Joe's! read more

Major TJ fangirl who can't stop raving about their products to almost everyone I meet, and feels sad when I haven't visited in a week--even if I don't need anything. I just like walking the aisles because it's my happy place (yeah, I'm weird). If this place could be a one-stop grocery/household supplies shop, I would be all in, even with all the weekend crowds. The staff here is great for the most part. The cashiers, stockers & sample people are friendly and helpful. The most of the management & customer service staff, less so. As I buy a lot of stuff for my family, I also tend to return a lot of stuff (various reasons: ingredient label didn't mention nut contamination, didn't care for the sparkling watermelon juice because it tastes artificial, my mom was like, "you buy too much stuff you have to return these 20 sunbutter cups," etc.), which I usually feel comfortable-ish returning thanks to TJ's generous return policy (basically, if it's not expired, it's fair game, no receipt required). I had a truly traumatic (I have social anxiety) return experience with Carisa D., one of the store managers in February (recently learned her name & she's still there). I was returning their multigrain sandwich thins due to my nut allergy and the reaction I had despite the label not mentioning cross-contamination. Carisa said she also had a nut allergy and that TJ labels are very good at stating contamination (*hard* disagree, I've also reacted negatively to their Maple Ladders cereal, crumpets, and pretzel bread off the top of my head). She told me I should've asked the customer service desk to call the factory to check the ingredients before buying the item (um, hugely inconvenient and I didn't know this was even possible). She seemed judgmental that I didn't have my receipt, and then questioned why I was returning a matcha almond milk if I had a nut allergy (it was for my family but they didn't want it). In the end, I got my return but felt humiliated for no reason, and was very reluctant to come back for a while. When I finally worked up the courage to return stuff, I quickly got some weird looks from the customer service people when I was returning two frozen items, some aloe vera gel & greeting cards (long story). The guy wrote that I "returned several items including frozen food & cards" on the back of the refund receipt, which seemed odd. Anyway, I complained to corporate and they said they'd give me a gift card. Though I have to get it from the customer service desk, which is gonna be a tad awkward. read more

I do love my trader joes--so for my sanity I have to try and be there early in the morning on a weekday because god forbid I show up there on a Saturday afternoon.. Slow people ogling item after item super slowly. A mass of people congregating in the free sample and coffee taste test area. Long long check out lines. It is not Traders Joes fault they are so awesome that people crowd into the place like salmon swimming upstream. What IS Traders Joes fault is the tiny little negative or two I have noticed- for some crazy reason the lady(s) who do the samples are usually very snippy. I have no idea why. I have to inch over to get a sample snatch it and run. There are no smiles and offers just sneers because I have made them one bite closer to having to restock and life is difficult. The only other little thing is that some of the most awesome items sometimes disappear or run out and it drives me nuts. Like the Poutine---and the Chimichurri rice in the frozen area. I literally go there searching those out and only get them half the time. Otherwise, I love the place. The staff overall are super helpful, cheerful, hardworking and very eager to please always. Its such a great little place and the prices are so reasonable. I feel like Im doing the right thing when I shop there (I know corny but TRUE)! My husband is obsessed with the pre marinated "carne asada" which I go stock up on to use as a bribe at home to get him to do stuff (lol). One of the things I really like is that they make frozen international style dishes (like the poutine I mentioned earlier) which is a spot on frozen version of the Canadian dish which is french fries, cheese curds with beef gravy on top. I also favor the whitefish "santa cruz" ---all kinds of worldly noms noms to provide me with a little high end even if my butt is staying glued to a couch on Sunday (especially when walking dead is on)- I should have a dukedom as much as I am in this place but really I just forget to check in every time because it is a relaxing experience and I get in my zone..as long as it is the right time and day to be there. Here's the Scoop: I love this store. I have only been here about 2 times but every time I come I fall back in love because there are sooo many delicious food choices that will accommodate anyone with food allergies, special diets, vegans or whoever wants to change their diet. The veggies are farm fresh. In the back of the store there's a tasting counter and coffees. The frozen food aisles are amazing. Food for every palate. Don't go in there hungry because your cart will be overflowing. Fresh bread and baked pies abound. I saw beef stout pies there and I haven't had those in years. It's a pot pie with braised beef and gravy in a crust. Oh my goodness, my mouth began to water. I just went in for some bread and a dinner item. Well, you know that didn't happen I ended up with coconut shrimp, shrimp tempura, orange chicken, vegetable fried rice, samosas, white wheat bread, dumplings, juice and coffee. Next visit I will definitely bring a list because I could really fill up a cart quickly in this store. The white wheat bread is a must try. Absolutely love this store. Fantastic selections of unique foods and freezer section items that you won't find in an ordinary supermarket. Fair prices, fresh produce. I love that you can sample a treat and make a tiny cup of coffee while you shop. The staff are super helpful and knowledgeable. This store is usually extremely busy after rush hour because let's face it, because it's awesome. If you go in the evening or weekend, be prepared to say "excuse me" 100 times. Hard to believe that I've never been to Trader Joe's! Ok...not that hard to believe... I'm not what most would consider "good" at cooking. I admit it- I'm downright clueless when it comes to the kitchen. That being said, TJ's had some great options for someone with no skills such as myself. Plenty of great pre-made salads and an awesome selection of good frozen foods. I stocked up on salad, grilled chicken, frozen veggies and fruits all at a very reasonable price of course. Some chocolate covered potato chips MAY or may not have snuck their way into my cart ;) Plenty of cashiers- so lines were short, even on a Sunday. Layout of the store made it easy to find everything, and parking was no issue here. I'll definitely be making this one of my regular food shopping destinations. read more
