My shopping trip on 4/13/26 felt more like a scavenger hunt designed by someone who doesn't actually want the items to be found. I came in for the advertised "Celebration Bouquet" for $6.99. When I asked an employee for help, she first told me she had no idea what I was talking about. Only after I mentioned the website did she bother to look it up -- and once she confirmed it existed, she informed me the store didn't carry it. Her helpful solution? That I drive around to other Stop & Shop locations and see if they might have it. No substitution, no effort, nothing. Then I tried to pick up the free 48 oz Blue Diamond Almond Milk. Also unavailable. This time I was told to "keep checking back," as if I have unlimited time to repeatedly visit the store hoping the advertised items eventually materialize. If Stop & Shop expects customers to spend their week traveling from store to store chasing down promotions, it would be great if that were mentioned somewhere. As it stands, the experience was disappointing, unhelpful, and frankly pretty frustrating. I filled out the survey at the bottom of my receipt & requested that someone contact me by email. The survey indicated I would receive a response within 7 business days. Today is 4/26/26, I am fairly certain we are beyond that timeframe---yet another failure on their part. read more

This store sucks. They constantly close registers early and force everyone to use self checkout. Then you can try to fit all your stuff on a 2'x2' weigh table that will malfunction and make you wait for an employee every other time you scan something. I'd rather go to Target across the street. Same hours, better prices and cashiers all day. They even bag your stuff. read more

The store itself is very clean and looks to be recently renovated within the last few years. It is the complete opposite of the Stop and Shop in Coram - well stocked and very well organized. The produce section is large as well. I have two major issues when I'm not shopping in store with the pick up service and the delivery service. Delivery service is awful. The drivers rarely follow the instructions to please call when downstairs so I can meet them and pick up my groceries. They have left my groceries outside in the rain multiple times and I only find out they were delivered due to an email 20 minutes later. They also try to shake you down for a tip - they have explicitly written on delivery packing lists TIP NOT INCLUDED right next to where you sign for delivery. These are not gig workers for door dash who get paid by the job- they are Stop and Shop DELIVERY employees. That is your job and we are paying extra to have the groceries delivered. You are also paid a wage for this job. Tips are not guaranteed. The management either doesn't know or care their drivers in their store uniforms are very unprofessional and basically acting like tow truck drivers before they release your food. Pick up service is a little better. The people you interact with are always pleasant but the people doing the picking for the orders are terrible at it, especially when it comes to selecting produce and packing things efficiently and in a matter which does not damage your fruits and veggies. They also overload paper bags with extremely heavy items so it's guaranteed one or two bags will break when you lift them. Lastly, on my most recent pickup I found GARBAGE IN MY GROCERIES. Someone drank a Pepsi and tossed the empty bottle into my grocery bag. They offer a double your money back guarantee on those pickup orders - the service is really bad. Make sure you use this to get your $ back on damaged items and hopefully they will start to see it is losing them money. read more

Don't bother to call in orders. The management is not doing that job instructing the pickers for the orders. Every time we get fruit and vegetables, it's damaged, rotten or soft. There's no point of using the service you might as well pick the food out yourself not to mention some of the fruit especially the halos and other oranges are horrible and tasting bland. They don't do a quality check, they don't test the vegetables to see how they are. They just sell them that's all they care about. read more

I shop at several Stop&Shop locations around my area, and enjoy the atmosphere and how they handle business in general. However, the store in South Setauket doesn't seem to follow the same high standards. Last week, I was very disturbed by the way the checkout lady, Minna, handled my Bell Peppers. She took each one out of the clear plastic, touching each one with her bare hands. Then she put them down on the dirty counter instead of putting them back in the bag. I asked her not to do that, and she continued to do it again with the second Bell Pepper. She gave me the excuse that she was told to take each one out individually to scan them. I never had anyone else do that before when I bought any type of fruit at Stop&Shop. They can see how many are in the clear fruit bag and enter the count in the register when they scan the bar code, which is easily scannable thru the plastic bag. With concerns for COVID, I have no idea what she touched before and what disease she might carry forward to the fruits I purchase. read more

Oh and get gas for the BBQ, medicine for my youngest son, a new broom for the outside deck and a bag of black mulch. Psst, I got this! First, I stop at The Home Depot and get the outside stuffs. Then, drive across the street and quickly fill the prescription and do a little shopping. This Stop & Shop is large and in charge! Very spacious and well laid out, and has such amenities like a full pharmacy and a retail bank inside? Dang aren't we fan-say! As with all Stop & Shops, they have a bangin' deli that sells quality Boars Head meats as well as a bakery that will make custom birthday cakes. Living in NYC we do have supermarkets but due to lack of space most of them are on the small side and feel cramped and claustrophobic as compared to those out in the suburbs. Stop & Shop does make me miss shopping in a real full sized supermarket. This is a huge store. They have everything here you can ask for! Big, bright, clean, organized. Full service deli. A ton of items on the shelves. A lot of checkout counters and even self checkout stations. Had no problem finding what I needed after help from the staff pointing me in the right direction. Parking lot is large with plenty of spots. It was not crowded at all when I was here in the middle of the day on a Saturday. Still, I would never live in the scary suburbs. Been there, done that. The store has been recently renovated and some new gourmet items added. New salad bar and stir fry station. The deli has gotten worse with time. I waited today well over 40 mins. Only 3 workers (1 of which was doing preorders). Over ten customers waiting to be served. I'd like to say this was an anomaly, but not so. While the workers are polite and nice there is no sense of urgency to get through the orders. Perhaps they are overworked, perhaps they are not well trained. There are other workers standing around in othewithout much to do while this department languishes. I've started getting my deli items from a different store and today was a reminder why. Update: Gave this deli another try recently and service was excellent. Hard to coMpare to previous experiences since there wasn't a long line of customers but the person helping me was super professional and on point with the cuts. This Stop & Shop has a great bakery department with a huge variety of goods. I made the mistake of buying these pre packages cake bars on sale. Regularly $5.99 and they were now on sale for only $1.50. It definitely made a huge different in taste. I've bought the chocolate before and they were great. These tasted weird and waxy. read more

I have used the deli kiosk many times when shopping here but lately instead of my order being ready in the time it gives you in the kiosk, I end up waiting at the deli as the employees help numerous other people. I inquire about the kiosk order and no one seems to know why it hasn't been started even though I placed it at least a half hour prior. They need to pay attention to the orders that come in or disable the kiosk because I just wasted another 20 minutes waiting for the deli items I ordered. Six people behind the counter and not one can be designated to watch for kiosk orders coming in? Ridiculous! Now waiting almost 45 minutes for the ONLY kiosk order and still no one has completed it!! I appreciate the fact that they clean the slicers for sanitary reasons but maybe that should be done at another time and not when people are waiting to be helped!! We usually shop and this location but lately it's been awful. The service is horrendous. No one seems to know anything at the service desk. They have the digital stuff like the guns and the app but when it doesn't work no one knows why or how to fix it. Today we went, I scanned my entire order, go to the front and the bar code wouldn't come up on my phone. The worker at the self checkout told me I could try and close the app and open it again. So I did and I lost my entire order. So he tells me I'll have to rescan the whole thing. Seriously? So my husband and I moved over, got another wagon and rescanned the entire order. I wait on line, I get the bar code this time, scanned it and the order didn't come up. The worker had no idea why, went to customer service (again, who are useless) and they said my order was deleted. I just re-scanned it! Then he says you'll have to go to a register and have them check you out! Hell no not again! Why didn't you offer that the first time! So my husband emptied all the bags and as we walked out we see the manager standing there watching this whole thing. Never said a word. Whatever happened to customer service and helping the customer. We were in no way rude or nasty until my husband dumped all the groceries in the cart to get our bags back. Will never shop here again. read more

Standard fare for a Stop & Shop. Watch the produce section, though. I went to look for a head of lettuce and ended up seeing nothing of quality. They also hid the bad sections of lettuce so make sure you check produce here carefully before you buy it. At least their scanners worked and there wasn't hassle on that. However, I don't like that we had to have a cashier help us on manufacturer's coupons so we could actually use them. One coupon was furnished directly from the manufacturer as a make-up for dented cat food cans. read more

I have also been here on numerous occasions for other ingredients and they have always had what I needed in stock. It is in a good location that isn't far from my house. The store itself is just fine. They usually have everything I need except for some odd reason, cilantro. Not the end of the world. If you're having a bbq, get the store baked buns and their frozen hamburgers, they're very good and so much cheaper than name brand! Baked goods are generic, I ordered a custom bday cake once and it looked nothing like the picture. So that was frustrating. Peapod orders are always a gamble. I used to get delivery but nothing was properly refrigerated. They told me I was the last stop, so that could be why. After that I started picking up my orders, and I got expired food or things were missing altogether. Not worth the aggravation. read more

Probably the worst Stop and Shop in the area. Prices are ridiculous and had two occasions where the meat I bought turned out to be ROTTEN. Staff is unhelpful especially to the point where I had to literally block someone in her path after asking for help numerous times just to get someone to fix the self-checkout scanner. Even the Whole Foods down the street is more reasonably priced now that Amazon took them over. And at least I can trust that their products will be edible when I open them. read more

I visited this store on a Sunday morning. Let's start with they were adequately staffed, but... No one seems to know where anything is because of the new remodel! So I found myself wandering like a lost child. The meat department was absolutely unaccessible! It was completely blocked by u-boats and employees, I gave quickly. I had shopped at this store for years. I think the best department here is the deli department, featuring Boars Head cold cuts. I have been dissatisfied with their meats department, their dairy is expensive. The bakery has the premixed, mass batched taste to it. The groceries tend to be expensive. Pharmacy is prompt and helpful. They provide prescriptions in a timely manner. The managers say they will order foods they don't carry, if you request it, but they don't. I went to Stop & Shop to fill a prescription in the Pharmacy because I'd been tipped off that their prices were lower than Walmarts Pharmacy & the major drug stores. I initially offered my health insurance card from a major provider & was told that the co-payment on this high dollar medication was $40. Then the pharmacist ran a discount RX card I'd gotten from the Doctors office and it was only $10.14!!! While there, I selected a cake from the bakery's fridge but the bakers were gone. So I found the nearest employee, he was stocking milk. His name was Martin. Although he was nervous about screwing it up, he kindly took my cake to the bakery & picked up a frosting gun & wrote happy bday (name) on it. He was so nice & accommodating. read more

Pro's -Cheap chicken/meat and always plenty of it. -Cold cuts in deli aren't exactly cheap but typically there's a good selection. -Always a ton of freshly baked breads/sweets. -Good selection keeps me coming here for a few specialized products. -Never busy at night--self-service counters rarely have a wait and if there are issues the employees have been helpful. -SUSHI: it's actually very good and fresh...still a splurge item but much cheaper than Whole Foods. Con's -Overpriced for what it is. Would NOT buy most of my groceries here. -Produce is overpriced and frankly not that great. -Got rid of the day-old half-off baked goods counter. -Deli items are not particularly imaginative, varying, or healthy. -Lack of free samples :( FINAL VERDICT: I only come here for a few special items; otherwise, TJ is cheaper, WF is better, and Fairway is more enjoyable. Shopped here the last few weeks on my way home from work and plan to make this my go to now for food shopping. This store is so well managed! Was in yesterday ahead of Winter Storm Stella and almost every aisle had employees re-stocking shelves just as quickly as panicked folks were filling up their carts. Found everything on my list! Cashiers are majority grown women and not teens which is rare and they're so conscientious taking care not to crush things on the belt, pausing to help bag and even checking to make sure all the coupons from the weekly circular came off the bill without me asking. They also had someone going up and down the checkout lines offering people a shorter line, opening more registers, etc. This captain runs a tight ship; bravo; so nice to see! read more

This ubiquitous store is a study in mixed messages. It just had one of its many 'makeovers,' with the produce section arranged differently so when you enter the store, the prepared, cut fruit is directly visible, which helps. On to the fish department, where the quality varies, and where I have been pleased with salmon fillets on sale, but where sometimes the smell of fish is so strong you have to move quickly away. And yes...they have some excellent sales where you can stock up on essentials, their store brand is often surprisingly good, and if you come upon the right employee, people can be very helpful. You pretty much can grab whatever you might need, from paper to canned goods and fresh or frozen foods, but like everywhere, it helps to know your prices. But I do not like the fact that they no longer indicate which cut of meat the ground beef comes from. They mark only the fat content, meanig your ground beef can literally come from anywhere on the animal, and my most recent ground beef purchase proved to be gristly, chewy, and flavorless. Not long ago, on a hurried shopping trip, I spotted chuck steaks marked --- and priced! -- as New York Strip steaks. In too big a rush to point out the error to a manager, I simply made note of it, but when I returned the following day, the chuck was labeled as chuck. So possibly an honest error, but a key lesson in why you should know your beef cuts. read more

This is specific to my deli experience on 6/23/16...the machine was broken that you can order cold cuts from so had to order at counter. Zach was working alone and had a lot of people waiting who were grouchy about a line and he was fast, courteous and friendly and did not seem to lose his cool. This S&S is in a pretty central location but in its own world in terms of the parking lot it inhabits. It shares a lot with a Chili's, a Quizno's, a TFCU, and some other storefronts, and parking is plentiful. read more

Only been back here a couple of times after the "remodel". While it looks nice it is a bit confusing and chaotic to navigate, and some aisles are mis marked. I normally get my cold cuts from Handy Pantry or Best as the service is much better, but I went to the deli as there was only one other customer being waited on and NINE employees behind the counter (Eleven if you counted the employees stocking the deli cases nearby). I thought I would be immediately helped. I thought wrong. While the other customer was being helped I must have been invisible to the other eight. They were preparing the pre cut cold cuts, of which there were already hundreds stocked, that will likely end up in the trash. After a five minute pause I was finally helped. The clerk over sliced my cold cut order and over scooped my requests by @ 25%. I just told him I would keep the overage... C'mon folks - you're better than this! read more

This is a WONDERFUL store - The peeps are wonderful and helpful and ESPECIALLY the pharmacy ...If it was not for April and George and the rest of the pharmacy crew I would not know what to do - They have always gone out of their way to help me obtain the info I needed and assisted me so often, even as far as 6 years ago and before when I was taking care of my Dad - Lots of meds can get very confusing ...They have even caught a mistake coming directly from the Doctors office!! Came in here to buy a pregnancy test once... Mind you, I'm in my 20s and in a relationship but I do get told I look like a 19 yr old from time to time. Anyway, I went in here on a weekday morning to pick up the test and went through the self scan, I didn't want any judgement since I do look very young and I didn't want anyone to assume anything about me, plus I was terrified and just wanted to get in and get out of the store. As I paid for my test and it made its way down the little conveyer belt, one store clerk girl picked up the test from the belt and placed it in a bag for me. I simply said thank you and finished paying. Then the store clerk said to me "well, no problem but idk whether to say good luck or congratulations" IS IT ANY OF YOUR DAMN BUSInESS? I told her "well we're hoping..." "oh well in that case, hopefully congratz" and I quickly left the store, even more upset and embarrased than I was before.
