I'm really happy to be writing this. It's been 11 years since I left my first review of AirWorks, and I still stand by what I said back then. I don't think you can measure a business when everything is going perfectly. You measure a business by how they handle things when it doesn't go as planned. Everything has been going great, but we recently had a little hiccup when I added a whole home water filtration system. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was a little frustrated and it took a little bit to get the right person on the phone, but I'm really happy to know that they are the same company from 11 years ago. They went above and beyond to take care of the problem.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've heard nightmare stories about other companies in the area that will install something and if there is a problem, you are on your own. I see a 1-star review from someone who was frustrated with lack of customer service. I was frustrated with this too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The AI phone interface can be frustrating, but there are good people working there who are trying to do the right thing. It just might take a little bit of patience to get the right person on the other end of the phone. I do know that they are addressing this problem[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Julian is my plumber and Sam is my HVAC guy and when they come to the house it's like having old friends visit. At the end of the day, that's what keeps me coming back to them. The work is solid, the technicians are knowledgeable, and when something does come up they stand behind what they do. Eleven years later, that still says a lot about the kind of company they are. I have no hesitation to call them for some of the bigger upcoming purchases that our household needs, like a new AC unit and a tankless water heater. I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Air Works. We originally called because we were having an odor/fumes from our garage being pulled into our home through the downstairs HVAC system. That was the primary reason for the service call and the problem we specifically wanted corrected. Nick came to our home and spent a couple of hours going through the system with us. He quoted approximately $4,500, which was significantly higher than other estimates we had received. We agreed to move forward because he represented that they were going to do substantially more work, including addressing the air leakage from the garage, expanding/sealing the return area so it would not continue pulling garage air into the house, and making changes upstairs to improve airflow so so much air was not being directed into the primary bedroom. Based on those conversations, we were told the downstairs system would be properly sealed and the garage-air problem would be corrected. Unfortunately, when the technicians were finishing their work, it became apparent that the most important part of the job -- stopping air from being pulled in from the garage -- was not included on their work order. I raised the issue while the technicians were still here. They contacted Nick, and we were then told that sealing that area would be done when we eventually replaced the entire HVAC system. Replacing the entire system had never been part of our agreement or the reason we approved this $4,500 job. Had we been told beforehand that the work being proposed would not address the fumes/garage-air issue, we would not have authorized the work. The technicians who came to our home were professional, polite, and clearly trying to do the job they had been given. I actually feel badly for them because they seemed to have walked into a situation where they had not been given all of the information that had been discussed during the sales appointment. The frustrating part is that we spent a significant amount of time explaining exactly what the problem was and what we needed fixed. Yet after spending approximately $4,500, the original problem remains. I still cannot comfortably run my downstairs AC because the same smell is coming into the house. UPDATE: After I posted this review, Nick called us. Unfortunately, instead of trying to resolve the problem, the conversation became argumentative and his description of what had been discussed was very different from what we were told when we agreed to the work. This was especially concerning because the technicians had already contacted him while they were at our home regarding the same issue. Again, the reason we called Air Works was to stop garage air/fumes from entering our downstairs HVAC system. That problem was not fixed. We had previously used Air Force HVAC company for years and decided to try Air Works based on a recommendation. I regret that decision. I would strongly recommend that anyone considering Air Works get every single promised repair and outcome specifically written into the work order before authorizing the job, particularly if the recommendation is coming from the salesperson rather than the technicians who will actually be performing the work. read more

Lack of transparency in estimates. They just give you a lump sum. No breakdown of costs provided. Extremely high cost for service. Higher than most hvac repair in the area. Great sales tactics on their end if you are evaluating them from a business standpoint. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lots of AI interface and lack of personal human approach to business.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had an issue with my furnace. They came out and diagnosed it, and did the repair that day. Days later when I went to use it, same issue. They came back out and diagnosed two other issues, no mention of why we don't think that those things weren't present the first visit. So I paid for first and second visit. I think I should have been refunded the first visit since clearly that service didn't fix the job. Oh and the best is they already started trying to up sell me a whole new system...they installed mine 10 years ago. They were better 10 years ago. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I spoke to an AI agent to schedule a diagnostic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A technician came and I was told, erroneously, that I would have to replace a disconnect line to diagnose the AC, only to be told that my condenser had failed and I would have to spend 6 thousand to repair, or 12 thousand for a full HVAC replacement. I was charged 700 dollars for the disconnect replacement, only to not have working air conditioning. After replacing the disconnect, the technician said he saw heavy sparking and would have to continue to leave the breaker turned off (so he did it all for nothing). Furthermore, I found out they installed THE WRONG disconnect. It needed to be 40 amp rated but they installed a 30 amp rated disconnect. I also realize now it was completely unnecessary to replace this part in order to diagnose my problem. Now I'm out 700 dollars and my AC does not work. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm trying to speak to someone but the only person I can get a hold of is AI.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I cannot recommend this company. Oh and by the way the disconnect was a 30 dollar part. --UPDATE-- I was refunded my money in full, it seems as though my experience was not necessarily typical. I believe this is a decent good faith company, just be sure you have common sense whenever getting quotes for a major house project - and if something doesn't make sense or seems wrong then don't agree to anything and ask to speak to a higher up. read more

They edged out the competition with their professionalism and clear communication. The insulation removal process was clean and quick. Nate, our HVAC technician was professional and explained our new system clearly. He and his team were also very neat and tidy installing our new insulation. We had our annual plumbing service performed by Brogan McReynolds of AirWorks. He was on time, respectful of our property, and checked everything. He tightened the handle on a bathroom faucet but everything else in the house was fine. He did inspect the tankless water heater mounted outside and identified it didn't meet the newer codes. So he came back the next day to install the required valves and flushed the system. Overall, he was efficient and professional. The price was reasonable for the parts and installation. read more

How rude can a company be? Every Monday and Thursday they park their trucks along both sides of Rice St, Somis blocking any parking for Fulkerson Hardware. This has been going since they got offices in the building across the street. If a business is that rude I would not consider them to do an A/C job. I trust AirWorks. Last winter I found a pool of water around my heating system and I called a different company and had them inspect my unit. This other company inspected my unit and said I needed to replace the entire system at a cost of $12,000.00 to $20,000.00. They offered a 10% discount if I signed a contract at that moment and had them replace my unit the following week. I didn't sign the contract. Instead I called AirWorks for a second opinion. The AirWorks technician was friendly and knowledgeable. He inspected my unit and determined the system was working fine. He said the water pump had failed and that's why I had water on the floor. He was able to replace the water pump in just a few minutes and it only cost me a few hundred dollars. Since then my heater has been working well and I've had no issues. Moving forward I will always call AirWorks first because I trust them. read more

A different company had advised me to replace my furnace for $8,360. I am relieved that Airworks figured out a minor problem. Sam and Nick were phenomenal. Both my fiance and I were laid off recently, but still needed HVAC work done as our energy bill was peaking at $700 and the level of heat in certain rooms were making my family feel sick. Just an overall bad situation. Sam listened to my situation with compassion and helped me find solutions to curb energy usage while staying in my very limited budget. I had a load of questions and took all the time it needed to explain in layman's terms so I could understand what the pros and cons were of each option. I plan on referring Sam and Nick ar Airworks to my HoA and everyone I know locally because this level of professionalism and neighborliness is uncommon. Update...fact that the business didn't even care to follow up on my negative review reinforces my adverse feelings about the administration and customer service this company seems to accept. No business, regardless of size or success is too grand to ignore the importance of customer service. So be it. Annual service of our AC done very well by the technician Tommy. However much to be desired regarding communication and response when I was given appointment time and then had to call to find out it would be actually delayed due to company meeting. Additionally, no employee was available to speak to for duration of meeting until almost 9:30am the morning of my appointment. Additionally no one ever replied to my texts when I was trying to find out when my technician was going to arrive. I even sent a picture of the last text verifying that one of their employees responsible for setting up the appointment said there would be a service person at my home at 8am. No mention was made regarding a window of 4 hours was required (8am to 12). So, great service but poor administration and care of customer needs. read more

Under the So Cal Gas program for manufactured homes, installing tankless water heaters, this company is currently doing work at the Ventura Marina. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Office staff is inept, dos not follow through answering messages, do not check their post office for mail sent to them[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The list goes on. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We had to threaten them to finally get a receipt for the money we paid.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We require at Unconditional Lien Release on the work they do, and staff cannot comprehend what that form is, nor have they provided us with our request. Efficiency and knowledgeability is sorely lacking. The program for new tankless units is fantastic, but the company allowed to do the installation is INEPT. read more

Nothing is worse than when your toilet breaks and the darn warranty company won't cover it. Then the quotes you get from plumbers are all over the place, with made-up issues that don't exist. That's what u experienced, until I remembered that Airworks, a local, family owned business, recently added plumbing to their list of services. So they were no longer, just the AC/ heating people I had known about in the community, they had increased their services available. I reached out to Stephanie, the brilliant mom who's pictured on their vehicles, and told her what I needed. They were very quick and responsive to scheduling an appointment for a technician to come out to my house and replace my toilet, it was practically instantaneous. The day prior to my scheduled appointment, I got a text message saying that they would arrive during a four hour period. I must say, It's very easy to respond to them in regards to text messages. I got a text message letting me know when the technician/rep Riley would be arriving. He was very friendly, informative, and helpful. He explained what he'd be doing and let me know the process, as well as the estimated time of completion. Riley was really friendly and really fun to work with. We talked a little bit while he was removing my old toilet and installing the new one. Get ready for the addition of plumbing. Awesome company very responsive, hard-working, and dedicated to making sure that you are happy with the job they have done. Plus, they are a small business and family owned. Nick came out and fixed my a/c which happened to be clogged. He was fast, friendly, and very knowledgeable.

We needed our AC condensing unit relocated to accommodate a yard remodel. We decided to replace the whole furnace/AC at the same time just to get another 10+ years before we have to do serious maintenance - it was all working, but starting to show its age. The good: AirWorks was able to accommodate us quickly, and stayed through to get the job done even though the work extended through the 4th of July. We're happy with the outcome of the work: it's professionally done, for example they ran the attic wiring through flex metal conduit vs. just NM-B for better cable protection. Less good: The estimator underbid the job and they added $1800 to the price tag. They didn't tell us until after they demolished the old unit - and it wasn't because they discovered something new; the electrical subcontractor was going to charge more than the estimator had thought. Both the estimator and the installer kept trying to upsell us: a wifi thermostat (we already have a Nest), an air filter add-on (we already have air filtration), blow-in insulation (we already have blow-in insulation on top of roll-in insulation), etc. Lastly, a trouble light I'd installed in the attic disappeared when they were cleaning up. I think they mistook it for one of their tools. I probably won't go with AirWorks again. The main sticking point for me was the up-charge. Up-charging us by over 10% after the initial bid, and after demolishing our existing functional unit, was not professional. Their estimators are more sales-people than tradespeople. Next time I'll go with a smaller company where the installer does the estimating to avoid any unwelcome surprises. read more

I requested for a drain cleaning and they were able to promptly schedule me. I had two shower drains that were both kind of sluggish and potentially clotted. My service technician was Julian who was very polite and came on time. He was able to diagnose the problem and quickly fix the issue. Airworks is just THEE company to go with. I used them a couple years ago and got top notch service and here I am again because their service is unmatched. AC wasn't working again - it's old - and it's been really hot. I called them today and they set me up with an appointment for tomorrow but ended up being able to get me in today.
