I was honestly stunned. I had forgotten this level of customer service still existed. Not only did Rick custom-build the trellis for me in a single day, but he charged me an incredibly fair price that didn't begin to reflect the time, care, and craftsmanship he put into it. This experience was such a powerful reminder of why shopping local matters. You can order supplies from Amazon, but you will never get this kind of personalized service, generosity, and genuine human kindness. Businesses like this are worth supporting.

The employees who take my order have been friendly and knowledgeable and the employees who make my delivery have always been on time and courteous. They had ample supplies of shovels, scrapers, and snow melts. Unfortunately no shakers at this time and it's unknown if it will be restocked before the next snow event. We were very happy with the work done by Gary and his team at Landscaping by Design. We had Gary…read morecompletely redo our backyard on Capitol Hill in DC. All of the existing fencing and hardscape was removed and we installed new cedar fencing, a patio area, a parking area,lighted garden beds and a stone bench. All of this in a narrow DC yard (16x120). We did not contract LBD for design services; we did most of that ourselves (just looking at pictures online). But Gary did a good job of looking at our ideas and helping us see if there were any clear problems. He was always happy to meet with us in person or talk on the phone. And he went with us when we selected hardscaping materials. The only real con to the entire process with LBD is that the job did not go quickly. A job that was scheduled for a few weeks stretched into a few months. There were weather delays for sure and Gary was also working other jobs. However the delays didn't bother us much at all. First, Gary was very clear up front that if we had a strict timeline he wasn't probably our guy. Second, we were more interested in quality than speed. I'm reluctant to write numbers because I have no idea what the scope of your project would be. But I always wish someone would give some indication as to price. So for all the work described above, plus a new garage door (about $5k), but without any actual plantings (we did that part ourselves), the total cost was just over $40k. Yes that's a lot of money, but some of that came from our choices -- the cedar fence was over $10k. And some of the cost was the quality we were paying for. Gary put a lot of work into making sure that the new yard would drain well and making sure that the ground under the hardscaping was well-prepared. That preparation took a lot of work. I would definitely recommend contacting Gary about your project.

The College Park / Laurel / Beltsville / Hyattsville area is really lucky to have a plumbing shop like this in business. Fergusons stores often refer customers to T.M. O'Donnell much like a primary care doctor would refer a patient to a specialist. Unlike a medical procedure, you can just go to the specialist first (T.M. O'Donnell) and get the parts and any info you need on the first trip! Remember to bring cash if you only need a small part or two, as they prefer to only accept credit cards for purchases over $10.

I had a leak from the handle. I looked on YouTube and and…read morefigured I need a new washer. I initially went to Lowe's looking for a washer for the faucet. But they did not have it. I was sold a graphite stringy substance in its place, but still had a leak. I went to Ferguson's plumbing supply and they had the whole spigot, but they referred me to TM O'Donnell. They even gave me a printed paper with directions on how to get there from Ferguson's. I went to this shop and was greated by 3 friendly men. The one that took care of me looked for the washer but did not have the exact size. He did get me a graphite ring washer. He stated if the spigot was still leaking from the handle, the problem was likely farther down the rod and to come back with the rod if it does. He was right. He did not charge for the graphite washer by the way. So I took the rod back to the shop. He replaced the end piece which also seemed to have a washer which was eroded/torn. I paid $6.43 for the piece. And it fixed the job. No more leaky handle. Now I can set my house to timer to water my wife's plants and grass. Definitely, would come back to this store. They are a wholesale distributor and seem to have a lot in their shop. If they dont have it, they can probably get it for you.
