I compared several vendors, and Rainier was the one that provided the most clear and competitive pricing. Alex arrived at the agreed upon time (we had an arrival window of 8-11am) and proceeded to perform the job quickly and efficiently. He washed the filters outside to minimize the dust inside the house. Since the maintenance, the A/C feels a lot more potent, which is great with the high temperatures we are currently experiencing. I would gladly recommend Rainier Heating & Cooling.

I told them that my system never kept up on hot days. They offered a bid and I thought they were totally fair on price. So we pulled the trigger. Especially helped to make my mind up as it was around 78 degrees outside the next day and the old system still didn't keep up. They gave me 2 bids and I opted for the more high efficiency bid. Jacob and Aaron arrived at the house to complete the job. My house being 100 years old, it wasn't the easiest and Jacob had to put in the O.T. to get it done. I was still skeptical that it would keep up. But this new system is actually amazing. We've already hit 90 degrees since the install and my thermostat never varied from 72 degrees where I set it. Im 100% satisfied with this company and would absolutely recommend them. Also when Aaron did the electrical, we had a light start blinking. I wasn't sure if it was from the work they did and so I called the company. Aaron came out and fixed my light and it just happened to be a random occurrence not caused by the work being done. That was going above and beyond! Looking forward to staying cool in a hot summer!!!

They recommended a Carrier Heat Pump for a PSE rebate but lacked the knowledge to install it. The system failed on day one. A standard 1-week installation dragged into a 6-month nightmare. I had to hire a separate, competent HVAC company to undo their mistakes and get it operating correctly. Technical Incompetence & Communication Failures * Failed Installation: Despite multiple attempts, they repeatedly failed to get the system running properly. * Unprofessional Communication: Management blamed me for their technical failures, scheduled an out-of-state rep without checking my availability, gave night-before notice, and blamed me when the meeting fell through. Code Violations & Financial Misconduct * Bypassed Legal Protocols: They failed to perform mandatory ACCA Load Calculations required under the WA State Energy Code and ignored mandatory electrical/mechanical inspections until I made them a condition of final payment. * Retaliation & Charges: Because the project was unfinished, I withheld a small balance. In response, they placed an unauthorized charge on my credit card--forcing me to cancel it--and filed an inflated Claim of Lien against my property including nearly $1,000 for unprovided services. Current Unresolved Status While they finally reduced my balance to account for the second contractor's fees, the issue remains unresolved. Despite signing a Conditional Waiver and Release, they refuse to provide a copy, tracking info, or proof of mailing for the Lien Release they claim to have sent to the King County Recording office. They sent someone over, who didn't really open the HVAC system panel much. I didn't seem confident that this would fix it. But they recommended to fix the drain pan inside the evaporator coil box, which they said was much more expensive. For clearing the drain pipe and gluing a loose pipe, which didn't actually fix the main problem, they still billed me $300 - diagnostic fee ($99) + 1 hour ($199) - (there's a 3% credit card fee, but they accept checks) 4 or 5 hours later, there was dripping again. I ended up calling Bob's, they sent 2 technicians who knew what they were doing (they opened the panel properly), they found and fixed the issue - it did not involve replacing a drain pan. Bob's only charged me the diagnostic fee of $175 and did the job right (compared to $300 that Green Bear charged)

Unfortunately concerning Pristine we were met with resistance and denial. The representative went straight to saying they shouldn't do a heat pump, due to the lack of floor insulation. This didn't make sense to us, as three other companies already reviewed the home and claimed otherwise. However the representative from Pristine seemed to not want to hear that, and after a bit of back and forth said the words "I guess we aren't the company you want to go for". They made the decision for us, which is odd considering we were only trying to purchase more than a standalone furnace. Maybe it was a miscommunication somewhere but it's clear from the rep that they didn't want our business. Edit: Further reduced score based on the reply from the company including false truths, never once did we claim that what the representative had said was "B.S." and to be clear they never said nor verified the home was insulated properly. The claimed the floors needed to be insulated, which was debunked by other companies as heat rises, and floor insulation does very little in terms of holding the homes heat. Poor response taking no real responsibility.

The issue I had with Greentop is the warranty registration, which was incorrectly registered with my name and contact info as the dealer. I traded a couple e-mails with Vera and was then ghosted. I ended up calling the manuf myself to have them at least correct the name of the dealer on my warranty registration to Greentop. They advised they couldn't change the contact info. I'm hoping I don't have any warranty issues down the line due to their error.
