This past Sunday, late afternoon we went to an early dinner, the air conditioner was set to 73, and upon return, it was 80. An hour later it was 83, and I panicked. My father was expecting his first ever FaceTime call from his brother and I needed to find out why the fan was blowing HOT air. So YELPEd I did. I received 6 responses with AIR-O-TECH being one of them. Armen both owner and the licensed contractor who came out requested more information. I texted it ( but to the wrong number and my dad had his FaceTime Call). Armen said if it was not so late he could have come out tonight. Let's make it tomorrow morning between 9 and 10 am, I have to make a delivery first. Of the other 5 responses, they stated tomorrow day. No time. He texted that he was 30 minutes away, and put on clean booties to protect my floors, and a clean mask, to protect my health. At the time of the text, Armen stated a price for the estimate, explaining that it takes his time to drive to my home and to find what is wrong. His was right in the middle of the others. When he found the piece, he explained that it may just be that piece, but it may not. He could fix it and then have to fix another and another, etc. Asking his opinion, we decided to change the entire heating and air conditioning unit. He stated that his company had an opening on Wednesday, and that was the most optimal day for us. He needed to rent a crane, and he and his contracting employe removed the old and installed the new with precision and were extremely neat, organized, clean, and respectful from the first message to the receipt. They even gave a one year LABOR and ten years PARTS guarantee. He threw in a FREE air conditioning pad, and showed me how to operate the new update equipment. Pluses going with AIR-O-Tech: Very Responsive to YELP REQUEST, gave a WRITTEN ESTIMATE in line with the law; SAID A DAY AND TIME and ARMEN messaged 30 minutes prior to alert us that he was on the way; USED A CRANE; ; WAS VERY NEAT, CLEAN, ORGANIZED, WELL GROOMED, WORE UNIFORMS SO YOU KNEW WHO WAS ENTERING YOUR HOME; GAVE A WRITTEN RECEIPT FOR ONE YEAR LABOR AND TEN YEAR PARTS GUARANTEE; LICENSED, SAID IT AND DID IT. Would I use them again. ABSOLUTELY. THIS WAS MY DADS HOME. MY HOME NEEDS POSSIBLY A NEW AIR CONDITIONING UNIT TOO. POSSIBLY EVEN A BIGGER ONE. Our air conditioner went out during the hottest day on record in LA County - 114° at our house. Armen was very responsive and came out within an hour after I first contacted him. He came wearing a mask, which I very much appreciated. He informed me that our system is 14 years old, but that our fix today was simple. It just required resetting the system electronically. He could have easily taken advantage of the situation, saying that we need a new compressor, but he was honest and the fix was fast and easy. He took the time to explain the the issue and what to look for in the future. He is also very reasonably priced, especially for a fast response visit. Additionally, he did this on Labor Day. I was working with Armen from Air o Tech on a multi unit property, he had installed multiple split AC units. The AC units only lasted a few months until they started giving multiple issues. Armen has since completely ignored all phone calls and texts regarding these repairs. I have called other AC companies to look at the units but Armen is the one who set up these units and they do not want to take up the responsibility. I am willing to pay for these repairs because I've been receiving non stop complaints from tenants. Nonetheless Armen refuses to even pickup or respond, and he promised warranty on all these items which he did not honor. Highly recommend! I initially found Air-O-Tech when I requested a quote for a Nest Installation since my old thermostat completely lost power. Air-o-Tech (Armen) gave me the best quote, I went with them, and I am very glad that I did. Armen gave me a 2 hour window for his arrival time and called me at least 15 minutes before arriving. initially, I thought that I simply needed a new thermostat because my old one lost power. The job wasn't as simple as replacing my thermostat, there was something else going that required more troubleshooting. Even though Armen was called out to install the Nest, Armen was focused and dedicated to solving this unexpected issue after several troubleshooting steps. He had all the tools needed with him and quickly resolved my issues. He went above and beyond the initial call request and I am very happy with my experience. Called Air-O-Tech to look at our 15 year old A/C system installed by a previous owner. I wanted to make sure we were in good shape with filters and the system as a whole since it hadn't been looked at since our initial home inspection. Armen replied promptly by phone and was able to come out the same day. He looked over the system and we ended up tackling a couple small maintenance items. He could have charged more, but instead of charging for a filter, for example, he explained the size and direction of installation so I was able to take care of it myself. Within 3 weeks of Armen coming over, our unit was no longer blowing cold air, so obviously there was a leak. Armen's charge for a leak test was $500, and at the time he assured us that it was normal for such an old unit to slowly lose coolant (I have since learned it is not!). This is the only reason we decided to refill our unit with coolant for a price of $800 (the companies we later had out couldn't believe the high leak test charge let alone the charge for the test at all). In hindsight he never showed me the gauge that verified how many pounds he actually put in so I will always wonder if it was actually as empty as he says it was. Back to our AC not working again after Armen's visit, we didn't want to put more money into an older unit so we decided to replace it. After researching getting a new unit we felt even worse about what Armen had told us and the services he provided. We ended up having several other companies out (no less than 6) to provide a quote, sharing with them our experience, and it only became more clear that Armen took advantage of us. We're not blameless though. Ultimately it's a situation of buyer beware, which is why I'm updating my review. If it helps prevent this from happening to just even one more person, it's worth it. Number one, there is a free optimization program through LADWP. The visit from a participating, registered technician is free, they test your unit's efficiency, AND you get 2 free pounds of coolant if needed. That's a couple hundred dollar value right there. If your unit qualifies you can also get a rebate for a replacement unit. There are certain terms and conditions but check it out. Armen is not a part of this program. In addition to this, getting back to our specific unit, one company noted there were signs of an oil leak as well as a clear puddle inside the base of the outdoor unit, most likely the leaking coolant. These were never mentioned by Armen. Also, several quoted us a much cheaper price for R-22. But wait, there's more. We learned that R-22 will no longer be available (for import into the US) as of January 1, 2020 and therefore a material that is going into extinction. This would have effected our decision. Again, we feel this should have been shared with us by Armen. After meeting with the other companies and collecting all the information, we called Armen and gave him the opportunity to amend the situation. He was argumentative and defended his work, refusing to provide even a partial refund, let alone an apology. In the end, please do your own research, learn from our mistakes, and save yourself some frustration, disappointment, and money by using another company. read more

Air-O-Tech A+++. Our furnace section died and want blowing any air. We could live without heat at, but with summer coming on, we wanted to fix the situation. After being completely let down by someone else, we contacted 5 companies to take a look at the job. The first and second company barely glanced at the system before giving pretty high estimates. Air-OTech came out and really looked at it thoroughly before writing a price well over$1,000 less. We called the others and declined service. This was on a Friday, and add luck would have it, Armen would be able to install it on Tuesday. I got a call on Monday. Armen was thinking about our home over the weekend. He wanted to stop by before going out to get our equipment, there was something that just didn't add up. Or system was mismatched: we had a 3 ton condenser, and a 4 ton system under the house.... Someone had obviously made a huge mistake before!... And he caught it. The decision was made to replace the entire system.... His pricing was right in line with before: much less than I expected or was told by others. Armen bought the equipment and still arrived and finished the entire job in one day, including the delay on pulling and setting up an entire system and running new copper line for the coolant under the house ( 40+ feet). The attention to detail was incredible. His commitment to his work, admirable. Everything was cleaned up and we actually had a working system that night!. I work in the home service industry, and will definitely be handing out his card to my clients. I count my myself very lucky to have found this company. read more

I am very happy with Armen's service. He did excellent work at 3 different properties for me. Our a/c was blowing warm air the night before the hottest day of the year. Armen replied to my request for a quote on Yelp within 20 minutes. He said he could be out the next day. He arrived when promised, showed us what the problem was - low freon, missing o-rings, low pressure, and a capacitor that needed to be replaced. He told us how much he would charge to fix and replace those, and add a booster device. He got right to work after we approved the cost.
