My furnace still needs work because it wasn't installed properly causing condensation to form inside. My service technician was knowledgeable and noted the problems. I had such an odd experience. This is my second time working with this company. My Furance is acting up, so I contacted community to see if they could help me out. I first spoke to an very nice lady. I told her I wanted to make an appointment. She put me on hold and came back and said Tom will be calling you. I asked for an appointment and she said yes, that I will set it up with him. Less than 10 minutes later Tom calls me and confirms my address, he said that will be there in 5 minutes. I asked why, I'm at work and that I was just trying to make an appointment. He seemed really confused. So he told me that he could put me in the book for the following day. Though I would have to wait all day, cause he had no timeframe to give me. So I took the appointment. The next day at 8am, a different tech called. Let me tell you, this man woke up and choose violence. Right off the bat, I felt like I was being talked down to like I am a child. He told me that I had no problem, that I should call back when I have a real issue. I guess I need to have zero heat in order to have someone come out. I was so confused because when I spoke to the woman the previous day, she definitely said I had a problem. This tech then went on to "teach me about how furnaces work". We did some trouble shooting. Turns out, I did have an issue. The tech said he can be on his way. At this point I stopped him. I reminded him that I didn't have an issue and now I do have an issue, which one is it? That when he really laid into me. He told me I was ungrateful for the free advise he was giving me. What free advise? Either I do or do not have a problem, I still don't know at this point. He then told me I should be thanking him for all that he has done for me. At this point, I was so scared and confused because of how aggressive he was towards me. I told him not to come over. I did call Community and let them know. The woman didn't seem surprised, so I guess it happens a lot. She did offer a new tech to come after 2pm, but I told her if I had zero other options. Though it not worth my safety, I would rather freeze that this point. I'm not paying someone $100 as a starting point, to come into my house to yell at me and scare me. Hard pass. I will never go back here. I haver 20 years in customer service, you do not yell at people, EVER. read more

Their prices on all equipment is very reasonable and never have they over charged for any service. I only use this company and I recommend you do the same. read more

The customer service is horrible! Initially the company charges $99 for an estimate that is refundable if they are completing the work. I unfortunately, was not there when they completed repairs to my furnace, and was told initially the tech had to purchase one part before he arrived. Well the tech completed the work and I paid via credit card. I was elated my heat was working during winter. I decided to visit the location because I needed substantiation for work. The office manager was venting on her personal matters and now I feel it was all a part of the distraction. I simply asked that I receive substantiation for work and the receipt for the work done and parts needed , instead she kept ranting on about her personal business. In the end she stated I was undercharged when I was initially told the work was no more than $500. Then she gave me receipt for another home, clearly she was overwhelmed and I honestly said a prayer for her as she was wheeping and being apologetic. Finally, she came up with another bill and I left. A week later the company cashed my $99 check. I was just in shock. I called and no one never answered. My fiancée finally got an office manager on line whom seemed like he was going to set things straight. Instead he sent a bill later stating that I should have been charged over $800. Unbelievable! Be careful business are out to get your money and now I have to go through red tape for $99. You can't advertise and charge differently and think it is going to be okay. read more

I called and had them come out to put a new furnace in. In the process of the install they put a new chimney in as well and messed up the ceiling and never bothered to patch it. I have a manufactured home so the systems are a tad different but they are suppose to know how they work. That was in october or november of 2019. So a few months latter we get a could spell i come home from midnights and the house is cold and the furnace is running nonstop so I call and am told that the manufactured homes are insulated well under the house so its harder to get the house warm i advised them that is not the fact my house has 6 to 8 inches of insulation pluse a vapor barrier on the floor in the craw space so the tech gets all pissy and states he will be out. Come to find out that the installers even though they were told multiple times im on LP they did not change the orafice in the furnace and as soon as they fixed that it warmed up in the house. So this spring they come back out to hook up the ac after several hours they finally get it done. So summer comes and the ac doesnt seem to be working right so I call a different company and that poor guy spent 4 hours fixing what this company messed up the fan was wired wrong in the furnace for summer and the way these units draft and the ceiling beaing messed up it was pulling all the hot air from the attic. I tried calling Jeremy Gause about getting this fixed to this day he has not bothered to call me back so i guess im not a valued customer. just another paycheck. I highly do not recommend them for anything. read more

Great service! Had the AC serviced by Shawn and he was professional, courtesy and also took the time to explain everything g he was doing during the service check. He even went above and beyond to double-check the wiring in our thermostat which turned out to be installed incorrectly and was stopping the AC from coming on. Needless to say, he fixed it and also thoroughly inspected the outdoor AC unit. Based on the condition inside the outdoor unit, it was pretty obvious that the last company we hired that provided the service did not do its job. BEWARE!! These guys are terrible. They sold me expensive outdated equipment and did a lousy soder job that needed to be serviced later because there were several places that leaked. Not to mention some attitude from the people over the phone. I had to eventually replace what they sold me 3 years later and buy a new unit from another dealer. FYI: You no longer need to purchase boilers with pilot lights anymore!! Pilot lights are OLD technology!!! But this place is still selling units with pilot lights. Get a clicker like on your stove top which is available now in new units. Avoid this place if at all possible!! Go elsewhere!!! read more

Called them for a heating cert. Guy showed up, I believe, expecting a bribe. Said I'd "have to pay him when it failed". Not catching on, I asked what he meant, and after an awkward pause, he explained that I would owe the certification fee 'if' it failed. I had him do the inspection on a relatively new unit which was working flawlessly, as I was sure it would pass. He said I had a cracked heat-exchanger. Couldn't show me the crack even with a lighted camera scope. He even gave me the whole story about how I could kill people with carbon monoxide. He dismissed the fact there was a working carbon monoxide detector just feet from the furnace. In and out time was less than 15 minutes, most of which was spent explaining that he couldn't certify the furnace, couldn't replace the part; and would need a whole new furnace which would cost $3,000- $6,000. This sounded wrong. I asked around and determined that (1) a crack in the exchanger would be obvious and could be seen in a mirror with a flashlight, (2) the exchanger can be replaced without buying a new furnace, and (3) that the unit should be under warranty. Checked with Carrier, verified that it was indeed under warranty. Called Sun Ray in Matteson, since they were listed as a Carrier certified repair dealer. They came out, were very professional, very thorough, and certified the furnace without any issue. Their inspection took CONSIDERABLY longer, was WAY MORE COMPREHENSIVE, and returned NO ISSUES WHATSOEVER, specifically, no issues with the heat exchanger. I accept a good deal of fault for this situation. I received a list of approved companies that could do the cert. Being naive and confident, I called several to find what they charged for the service. Community was the cheapest, by a considerable margin. I can now understand why. It was worth paying the extra money to have a professional do a real assessment. I cannot dissuade people enough from using Community, and would without hesitation recommend Sun Ray. read more

Needed them in 2017 because air conditioning unit conked out. They replaced it. Last week, heat went out at midnight. They came at 9 a.m. we needed new furnace, but they were able to get some heat going until they could come back to install the new furnace. Great experience! They even give military discount! Community Heating & Cooling is NOT a legitimate repair company based on my experience today. If you have a Heating or cooling problem do NOT call Community Heating and Cooling, call someone else. It was soooo weird, it was like they didn't even acknowledge that their job was to repair anything. They just documented things without any quote for fixing my problem. My home warranty company sent them out to address a furnace that was going on and shutting off intermittently. Obviously I needed this fixed whether or not the warranty company paid for it. The guy from Community acted like he was a city code inspector rather than a repairman... sooooo weird. He looked at everything in my attic (roof, water heater venting, furnace) and took pictures and wrote a report of everything that he thought was "not up to code" or "possibly unsafe" or "installed poorly". After his visit I still no idea what specifically is broken or how much it will cost to fix it. An example of why he's not a repairman: He documented with pictures and on his report that "a paper towel had been unsafely stuffed" around a tube in my furnace. He did NOT EVEN REMOVE THE PAPER TOWEL! Even though it was too close to the flame. I asked him why he didn't just pull the paper towel out and he said it was "unsafe". When I called the office to complain about the entire visit I brought up the paper towel as an example. Kathy said he couldn't possibly have removed that paper towel because of liability. When I asked why a "repairman" hadn't done anything to repair anything or even quote any repairs she said "We couldn't possibly touch that furnace!" I hung up at that point. THIS IS NOT A REPAIR COMPANY. THEY ARE A HOME INSPECTION COMPANY FOR HOME WARRENTY COMPANIES AND YOU PAY THEM $65 JUST TO WRITE A REPORT AND DOCUMENT EVERYTHING WRONG IN YOUR HOUSE. Call a real HVAC company if you need a repair. read more

I could not have had a better experience than I did with Community. I made a phone call on Thursday, Roy came out the next day and on Monday we had our new boiler installed. When they left there wasn't a trace of the old boiler. They did the installation in October and the unit has worked perfectly all winter. beware* if community heating & cooling inc. is servicing your ac unit or furnace you will be needing a replacement in ten years or less! they provide very poor servicing! i purchased a new furnace in 2004 which community has been servicing, annual y & had to replace it in nov. 2014, and a ac unit in 2006 which stopped work ing 3 yrs ago! they are not to be trusted! and i do intend to contact the attorney generals office concerning this matter read more

Love these guys! Furnace was purchased through another vendor. It went out in under 10 years! The other vendor said I had to buy a new one. Community came in and fixed the furnace. And they were honest about how long the repair might hold. It's still working. Also had an issue with my AC. These guys are really great! Got everything taken care of in one day.
