Came by for the first time and ordered a mini Catch of the Day with fried noodles and sautéed veggies (about $15). Fish did not seem fresh, sauce was heavy and fish was dense. Veggies was undercooked to the point eggplant was crunchy. Food was also heavily peppered. The noodles was the best part of the plate! Overall it was disappointing. read more

Need to step up the quality and quantity for what is being charged for the chicken plate.

I had the hoisen bbq chicken plate.Chicken and rice good. However, the salad...different story.I had more of these but these nasty pieces but these are just the ones I took a pic of.So many wilted and slimy pieces in my salad. It was kind of like when salad goes bad at home in the container....super dark in color and slimy!!!!!!!I didn't want to eat the salad cause I really didn't want to get sick. If not for such nasty salad I would've given them 5 stars.I am really disappointed.Thinga like this make it hard to make healthier choices. read more

This hurts to write, this really does. Up until now I LOVED this place, but after the experience I had... I don't know. So, up until the last time I bought from here, I've always gotten it through doordash and never been disappointed. I got the ahi katsu every time and LOVED it. But one day I decide, hey, let's just go in person, it'll save me money and I'd like to see the inside for once. I step in and the guy at the register is really nice. I order my usual and ask, is it possible to get extra ahi? Of course, I was willing to pay. He smiles and says he'll see what he can do. Yay! My order only takes a few minutes to finish. Wow, that was fast. He tells me he wasn't sure how much extra I wanted so he gave me a whole slab. Yaaay! I drive home in glee, hungry as hell. I open the box, and... Huh. It kinda looks different from what it normally does... Weird. Whatever, time to dig in. And it's... Kind of soggy. And tastes off. At this point I'm questioning if I should keep eating, but I don't wanna waste my money. I manage to eat most of it before my body is like "Alright, that's enough." and I finally give up and throw the rest away. And then my hell began. Half an hour later I'm fighting for my LIFE in the bathroom. Hoo boy. I spent most of the rest of my night on the toilet wishing I listened to my intuition!! Thank god I felt a little better the next morning. I don't think I could have handled multiple days of that suffering. Now I'm just wondering if the only reason why he gave me "the whole slab" was because it was old and not fit to serve. Or if they just gave me an old order that got cancelled and that was why it was ready in so short a time and soggy when I got home (which is only a couple minutes drive). This place seems to pride itself on fresh, healthy food, but now I'm not so sure. read more

This review is based on two visits so bare with me. Opening day I came and there was hella people.im talking about out the door, People standing up type of deal. It did take a while for us to get our food and that was understandable because it was the first day. The food didn't disappoint. Hoisin chicken on point! Baby potato's, with cheese is a must have!! The avocado cilantro dressing I had with my salad was very refreshing and flavorful. I really appreciated, even though they was super busy, the owners still came out to check how we were doing and if everything was to our standards. yes the food was! the food price is decent considering you get a main entree plus 3 sides. Paid 10 and some change for my plate and I was full. 11 days later: Came back and it's not as hectic. Was greeted by a sweet girl named Jaime who took my order. this time I got the BBQ pork sticks and garlic spicy shrimp. Wait time super decent to thee point I ordered a plate to go and when I was done with my food, my to go plate came out just in time before I left. The BBQ sticks is a must. Fat pieces of pork marinated and super Tender and juicy!! I love spicy food and the shrimp delivered the perfect heat and garlic flavor. Tried The papaya salad dressing and it's refreshing as well too. Will I come back? Yes I will!!!! I needed to come back more than once to determine if this a place was good and not base it off of opening day which everyone knows opening days are never perfect yet they still were able to deliver awesome food!!! read more

After going multiple times and trying several menu items, i must say that everything I have tried is 10/10. The chopped steak w/ vegetables was given in generous amount and has a homemade taste just like moms would make. Their spicy garlic shrimp is savory and is as good if not better than the famous north shore trucks. If you have a shrimp craving and don't want to deal with the traffic or drive, just head on down to this central Oahu location. They also have an Ahi Katsu that that Is ono if you're in the mood for fish. For sides, they have a variety of options such as white rice, brown rice, Spanish rice, Mac salad, roasted potatoes w/cheese sauce, fried noodles and salad. I would highly recommend the Spanish rice and roasted baby potatoes w/ cheese sauce as your side options. Besides the convenient location and great food, they also have a friendly staff that ensured I got my food in a timely manner and check with me to ensure the food was satisfying. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great tasting food at a reasonable price. read more

I was enticed by the pictures and menu looking online for a place to eat. Stopped in and tried the surf and turf. The shrimp had a tasty mayo sauce like hawaiian style ebi mayo, but what really wow'd me was the grilled sirloin. The steak was grilled and seasoned perfectly and so satisfyingly delicious without the sauces. Had to get the sirloin again the next time I went there along with the fried chicken sandwich. Huge piece of chicken in that sandwich, with pickle and pepperslaw that was crunchy and tasty. On my last night in town I tried the BBQ pork sticks and swiss burger. The pork sticks were juicy porkbelly pieces with a sweat bbq glaze hawaiian style all the way that I loved and the swiss burger was very juicy and savory with the mushrooms and swiss together. I have to mention the sides too. The mac salad, mac cheese are good, coleslaw is crisp and sweet, very good. Mini potatoes have a rich cheese sauce and is really good and man those fried noodles local style I could each an entire bowl of alone. The sirloin with the spanish rice side the way it's shown in their pictures is a great combination together too. Everything I had there I'd get again. A great spot with friendly aloha spirit. Grab takeout to eat at the beach, even better!! I'm glad I found this gem and looking forward to coming back again on my next trip to Oahu!! Mahalo read more

I constantly have Uber eats deliver me this place when I'm working in Kapolei. I love it, the portions are big and the food is quality. I've never had a bad plate get delivered and it's takes about 20 minutes from their to our office. It must be even better if you dine in. I'll keep ordering from here, it's my go to! read more

First visit here. Had the Sirloin with chimichurri sauce. It came on the side so I had control over saucing as I ate. Comes with 3 sides so I had the Potatoes with cheese, macaroni salad, and Spanish rice. Loved the potatoes especially and the Mac salad and Spanish was good. I liked that the cooks came out of the kitchen to ask how was the food. Nice touch. Waipahu food scene is really stepping up with the opening of this place. Will be coming again soon. read more

Always great service and good quality food! Today we got the double bacon cheeseburger with fries and Mac and cheese. Hubs was very satisfied with the taste of his burger, fries were super fresh and Mac and cheese was delicious! Love that you're allowed two sides for the burger and three if you're getting a regular plate. read more

Food was perfect! Generous portions and very tasty. Service was also very good. Quite the pleasant experience for a quick lunch.

Ended shopping trip with on line order to take home. Food ready upon arrival. Enjoyed both Citrus Herbed Chicken Breast and Catch of the Day w/Ginger Butter Sauce. Asked both for low salt and came as such but still full of flavor. Sides options all good provides variety to please plate sharers. read more

We originally planned on going next door to try out Frieda's Mexican but accidentally walked in here we didn't realize we walked in the wrong door till we were looking at the menu, we left but the smell of the steak brought us right back in lol me and hubby both ordered the regular sirloin steak plate ($18 each) with chili butter sauce. The regular plates come with your choice of 3 sides. They have a good variety of good sides to choose from. The cashier was helpful, kind and gave us some recommendations. Food was ready in about 15 minutes, steak was great & I absolutely loved the Mac and cheese. The sauce we chose was the Hawaiian chili butter, it was good but wasn't really what I expected, it kinda tasted like thousand island imo. They even make their own salad dressings in shop, I got the papaya dressing and it was delicious. The only thing we didn't like was the Spanish rice, ( which we both got), it was really dry and had a lot of hard bits I'm assuming it's past it's time under the warmers, next time I'll just opt for regular white rice. read more

Ono cheeseburgers, and the French fries are seriously good - hot and well seasoned, skin on, crispy, just yummy!

Wish I had the food to post but we devoured everything we ordered! Why oh why haven't I seen this place before all the while driving around in Waipahu. Talk about a hole in the wall place- unbelievable! Food is to die for- everything we ordered (hoisin bbq chicken, teriyaki steak, hamburger steak, poke bowl combo, spicy garlic shrimp, and all the sides) were AMAZING! Portions were generous and the food so very flavorful! We will definitely be coming back to try a few other plates we've yet to! read more

Great customer service and excellent eats!! Jeff is the man! Hooked me and the homies with some delicious food.

Ordered Aina Grill on Uber eats. Ordered a mini steak plate and it was delicious! Big portion size too for a mini.

Beef Kawali - bits of fried beef with onions / tomatoes / green onions over hot white rice. Delicious goodness. Perfect amount of fat on the beef which is balanced by the pickled onions / tomatoes. Ask for additional fish sauce it will give it more pop. Just a great variant of Lechon Kawali Kudos to Alika read more

First time here after seeing them on TV. Cute little spot. We ordered take out today. I ordered the mini Fried Chicken with extra crispy fries and mac & cheese; husband ordered the mini BBQ Pork Sticks with Coleslaw and Garden Salad (avocado cilantro dressing). So wanted to give them a good review but fries wasn't crispy and everything else lacked taste. If you're expecting Fried Chicken to be crispy, this is not the place (battered chicken was a little doughy, Fries were not crispy (much less extra crispy), Mac & Cheese tasted like boiled macaroni with a yellow, oily sauce (imitation cheese?); Pork needed to be marinated longer and the dressing didn't taste like avocados or cilantro (just a light green mix of mayo, sugar, and vinegar). Later heard they are known for their burgers so may go back to try that. read more

Good enough to drive an hour from across the island to get it before we left for home. Get the ahi Katsu, delicious both times I had it.

Always looking for new place to eat and I found Aina grill. So I had to try PLACE - rather unique setting; 2 restaurants in same area. Aina grill and Fridas. Both share the dinning area. No chairs or tables available due to covid-19. Fridas kitchen is partially visible but Aina grill's kitchen is through a door, not visible from the dinning area. That's rather strange. I think they should open up part of the wall so it is somewhat visible. 2* WEBSITE - the website is very appealing: great pictures of the food and menu easily readable. Very enticing and well done. 5* Food- after viewing the website, it was a must to try. Everything looked so good and prices were fair. I ordered the mixed plate hamburger steak and Teri steak with rice, Mac salad, and cheesy potatoes. The Teri steak was pretty good and but the hamburger steak was mediocre. It wasn't anything special but rather plain. The hamburger was dry and had no taste. Hamburger steak is usually my indicator if a place is good or not. Not. The cheesy potatoes was different. Some of the potatoes were only skin but the ones with potato was delicious. Portions were alright. 2* SERVICE - service is always an important part of my dinning experience. When I wanted to order, the girl from Fridas had to call the guy from Aina grill from the back to take my order. If they opened up the wall then they would've seen us. Need to wok on setup. I got my food in a fair amount of time. 1* OVERALL- I was rather disappointed from my experience at Aina grill. It seemed as if they didn't appreciate my business. The workers that did interact or lack of weren't friendly or appreciated us for supporting their business when it is key during Covid-19. Maybe they wanted to go home since the kitchen was closing in 45 minutes. Never the less, businesses should be great full for support. I didn't feel it here; no love. Not sure when I'll try Aina grill again because first impressions are long lasting. 2** read more

I've been living in Waipahu for years and it's always nice when a new food place opens up. I had the Huli Huli Chicken and the Chopped Steak for my brother. Although those are staple island dishes, I love that they incorporated new side dishes like the Spanish rice and baby potatoes with cheese that gave a fresh take on the usual island favorites. Friendly staff, great pricing, and awesome food. Also LOVE that they use eco-friendly products for take out. Highly recommend. read more

I got takeout a while back and I have to recommend this place for sure. I had the Loco Moco and it was perhaps one of the best I have ever had. Only the Hamilton Snack bar made a better one back in my college days at UH. The hamburger was cooked perfectly. Not dry at all with a good crunch and flavor. The gravy was not sweet, thick, or gross. It paired very well with the burger and mixed together on the rice. The eggs were cooked exactly how I wanted them and everything came together perfectly. There was even gomashio on the rice which was an added touch that I really enjoyed. The only drawback was the mac salad which didn't have very much flavor. It had some red powder on it so I thought it would be spicy but that was not the case. I would order it all rice next time. And there will be a next time. read more

Little shop on Kamehameha HWY. Decent parking area in that plaza. They share the space with Fridas, a Mexican joint. Got their mini plates of Ribs and teriyaki steak. For sides, I had their Spanish rice, potatoes with cheese, fries, and Mac salad. The size was decent for a mini, but I'd recommend just going for the extra charge of regular size. Their ribs had choke flavor and very succulent. Wasn't dry at all. Their teriyaki steak was pretty bomb too. Cooked perfectly and wasn't dry too. They give you pretty good size slices. The rice was good and their fries was nice and crispy, not soggy at all. I really enjoyed their Mac salad! Add some Tabasco and you all good. Their potato and cheese was really good too! Definitely recommend getting that. Overall, I'd definitely come back.Bring some appetite cause you gonna be ordering with your eyes! read more

Came here on a weekday for lunch around 1:30, place was empty. Heard about them on IG so we decided to try it out. I had the ahi katsu plate and my Mom tried their spicy garlic shrimp. Both plates were delicious! I loved the ahi katsu since it was fresh fish and the sauce on top, ono! You have a choice of 3 different sides, I chose rice, mac salad, and green salad. I liked that their mac salad was chilled instead of warm like some places give (maybe because of the hot plate/container). Their mac salad does taste a little different than what I'm used to, but that's not a bad thing. The shrimp was okay, preferred the ahi katsu over that. All in all, pretty good lunch plates. Little on the pricey side. read more

Great steak plates and they made the to go plates just as appeasing and delicious as though you are in person dining!! DELICIOUS!!

First time ordering take out from this hole in the wall restaurant. All in all most of the food was pretty tasty. My daughter had Ahi Katsu which was cooked to a nice med doneness. Breading was really light. My son had the local moco which he enjoyed, he said mac salad was better than the first time he had it. (He ordered from bite squad) My dad had chopped steak..... WHICH WAS NOT chopped steak but rather beef tomato, which was drowning in its sauce! He didn't care for this dish!! I had the spicy shrimp which I enjoyed. My daughter and I opted for tossed salad instead of mac salad. Both the sesame and avocado cilantro dressings were tasty! Roasted cheesey potatoes were just okay. Rice on all our plates were inedible. It was waaaaay under cooked!! Luckily we had a pot of hot rice!! I'd actually give this place another try cause like I said most of what we ate was pretty good. **Please make sure rice is properly cooked!! That's like the deal breaker!! Mahalo! read more

Tried the short rib loco moco here and although the food wasn't absolutely hot it wasn't their fault because this order was through a delivery service so transit time comes into play. I will say the dish was very good maybe a little on the salty side but still enjoyable. It was a little on the expensive side but the quality of the food is not your typical plate lunch place quality. If I was served this dish on a plate in a restaurant rather in a styrofoam box I would have no complaints on the food quality. I may have to go back a try their famous ahi katsu to see if that o e lives up to the hype. read more
