Definitely one of my top five places to eat. Today was my first time ever ordering from Aina Grill in Waipahu. The location was an easy find but it also helps that I'm familiar with the area especially Hill Top. The plate I ordered was a little over $16 with taxes of course. The flavor of the huli huli chicken was definitely there, the rice was a little on the sticky side but it complimented the chicken well and the garden salad with the house range was a perfect mix! Reason for 4/5 stars? I did expect the portion to be a little more full but this isn't as bad as other places I've seen for the price. If you want a quick plate lunch with full flavor I'd recommend stopping by Aina Grill and giving them a try. read more

i love the laid-back, live music vibes here. located right in waikiki but it doesn't feel touristy at all we ordered the kalbi ribs and garlic shrimp -- both were cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. drinks were strong and came fast, and our server was so sweet and helpful. the highlight for me was definitely the live music under the string lights -- it felt like a low-key backyard party but with hotel-level food and service. would def come back just for the vibe. read more

Good food at great prices! Found them randomly on Yelp and it looked like a great place for a great lunch...and I was right! Short rib loco moco with fried noodles looked like a winner! My coworker agreed! We both ordered it along with a couple orders of ahi katsu...after quite a bit of a wait it was back to the office! Huge portions! The short rib was tender and the gravy complimented it well! The noodles remind me of Leewards. Overall a great place for an amazing local lunch! Almost guaranteed to put you to sleep lol! read more

Made an order through Yelp with delivery by Grub hub. I ordered the hamburger steak, white rice, Mac salad and tossed greens. My take out COVID orders are more misses than hits. This was a miss. My order did not look anything like those pictures you see posted. 2 patties a little in the tough side smothered with brown gravy. The gravy was a bit salty and no onions on it. The Mac salad was the so watery you couldn't pick it up with a fork! Considering the price $13 the quality of the food wasn't worth it. I was disappointed to say the least. To top off this experience the grub hub driver! OMG he wore no mask and his car was filthy! Luckily I saw him pull it out of the insulated bag and it was wrapped in a separate bag. Put on my gloves and opened it outside and threw the bag away. I will let grub hub know their drivers should be wearing masks and gloves while handling food. read more

The food was great & the staff (employee) at the front was very friendly! I love the pricing & what it comes with. I like that you can change up the sides to fit what you want without additional costs. The ahi katsu was delicious and so was the teriyaki chicken. We will be back to try all the other items on the menu. The location is in the middle of Waipahu across savers. There was lots of parking. The only suggestion I have is that there were a lot of teenagers smoking and loitering around, so if that's not something you're into either go in the day or with someone else. read more

I got the teriyaki steak plate and my three choices of sides were garden salad with papaya seed dressing, Mac salad, and cheesy potatoes. I had no problems with delivery, and when my food arrived, I dug right in. SALAD WITH PAPAYA SEED DRESSING: delicious dressing and I like how the salad wasn't just all cheapy iceberg lettuce - it was a blend of romaine, iceberg, spinach, and even had a few pieces of red bell pepper and carrots. TERIYAKI STEAK: the steak came medium rare as I ordered it and it wasn't dry. However, there were a few pieces I had a hard time biting because it was tough. The teriyaki sauce was okay, but I found it to be too salty. MAC SALAD: it was okay.. I found it to be bland CHEESY POTATOES: the star of the show! We were searching for a place to eat on Yelp and came across this place. We stopped in , it's in Waipahu, entrance is facing Farrington Highway, it's across the highway from Max's. Small place about 5 tables, but wasn't busy when we arrived around 1:30 pm on a Saturday. We parked in that strip mall where Clinical Labs is. The place is clean and AC is nice and frosty! We were a little confused when we walked in because there were 2 menu boards above the register and a face we recognized from patronizing El Mariachi's in Kapolei, Miguel use to wait on us at El Mariachi's and now he own's the Mexican half of this restaurant called Frida's that serves authentic Mexican food . So He and the owner of Aina Grill share this space . So think of it like a food court...you can order Mexican Food and Local plate lunches. We decided to try the Local plate lunch side. I ordered the Garlic Shrimp plate and my husband ordered a combo Hoisin Chicken and Ahi Katsu. And get this.... plates come with 3, yes I said 3 sides! So you can choose from white rice, brown rice, Spanish rice, tossed salad, Mac salad, French fries or roasted baby potatoes with a cheese sauce. Everything was ONO!!!! We will definitely be back! Hubby ordered online and we came by to pick up our order. I got the chicken plate which comes with three sides. Hubby picked the sides. I was waiting in the car while hubby got our food. Before picking up my daughter, I got to eat my meal in my car. I had chicken, Mexican rice, saimin and potatoes that were covered in cheese. Everything was delicious although the saimin was a little salty. I couldn't even finish my plate. I enjoyed the rice and chicken. The potatoes were cooked well and not hard. Good consistency. If you are ever in Waipahu you have cravings for island food you must come here. The serving sizes are huge. I walked into this little tiny place and as I looked around it was so clean and pictures of the delectable food on the wall enticing and making you even more hungry. I ordered a Mini ahi Katsu and what was delivered was unexpected. The serving size is huge for many and the food tasted incredibly good, rice junto. One of my newest favorite ahi katsu. The sauce worried me a bit, i thought it looked a bit on the sweeter side, i was wrong, it was perfect. So tasty, ahi made was to perfection. When I paid for my food I also forgot my card in the reader, and the person at the cash register actually contacted me through Facebook and let me know that my card was forgotten there. I turned around and I came back to get my card and he was still there and I was so appreciative. Not only did I get great food, I also got great service And a favorite place for future references. Food was ok. I really liked the menu options. We did take out on mothers day so it was my choice. We were in the area. The staff was great and super friendly and let me know the wait would be about 20-25 min for my 4 plates. The restaurant was very clean. I wish I could rate this place higher. My fave dishes was the smoked marlin dip which was more of a sour cream salsa flavor that was served with wonton chips. The food was done well but all was lacking flavor. The mac and cheese didnt have taste. My husband was dissapointed at the huli ckn as it was all chopped up. My ahi katsu was flavorful but i asked for it to be seared but it was actually well done and dry. The sautéed veggies were tasty and so were the pork sticks that we added on Ala cart. My son's steak we added more salt as he didn't care for the dipping sauce. Bacon burger and fries was good but nothing to come back for. I loved the plating and garnishes were nice. I heard about this place from someone I follow on Instagram. He had such great things to say about this place that I knew that I should try their food one day. Tonight I got their hamburger. It came with two sides, so I chose fries and garden salad with homemade avocado cilantro dressing. I was able to choose a lot of toppings for my burger which was awesome! I added pickles, caramelized onions, tomato, lettuce, ketchup, mayo and guava bbq sauce. I also got a slice of tres leches cake for dessert. The burger was great! The buns were soft and I think it was lightly toasted or grilled. The patty was also very good! I believe it was homemade. Biting into it was messy and delicious! In the future, I should cut the burger in half to prevent the fillings from spreading all over. Their fries are thick and crispy! I used the guava bbq sauce to dip my fries. I really enjoyed the sweetness of the guava, I didn't expect it would match as a dipping sauce but it worked! The salad was nice and very fresh. It had carrot strings, sliced cherry tomatoes, and cucumbers. The dressing was amazing! It tasted like ranch dressing but yummier (if that's even a word)! Literally one of the food places on the island that needs more recognition! If you happen to be around this area in Waipahu (probably thrifting across the street), you HAVE to stop by 'Aina Grill! They used to share space with Frida's Hawaii (also highly recommend) but they split and have their own. The quality and taste of the food is exceptional, and I think it's worth every penny. Today, I got the cheeseburger. You can choose the toppings you want, so I got lettuce, caramelized onions, ketchup, and Mayo with cheese sauce on the side. You also get to choose 2 sides, but I just got fries with mine. I've also tried their Spicy Garlic Shrimp on my very first time ordering food here, and I loved it! I really like rooting for the underdog. Especially if I feel they have great potential. Aina Grill is such a business. Hidden in plain sight, in the shadows of the elevated pathway of our troubled rail, is a strip mall. Facing Kam Highway is a Mexican restaurant and Aina Grill. It's right in between Leokane and Pupukahi, just past the Mazda dealer, Firestone, storage place and as soon as you see the Chinese furniture store, the next driveway is where you're going in. The entrance is facing the Highway and can be quite confusing at first because the sign is practically shared with the Mexican restaurant next door. It's a tiny shop, with seats for maybe about 10. It's really clean inside with photo panels of their dishes hung on the wall. The menu hangs behind the register and it's really neat and simple. Burgers or plate lunch with a variety of options; regular or mini. The plate lunch offerings include Huli huli chicken, Locomoco, Braised shortrib locomoco, Grilled sirloin and a few more items. I opted for the mini Hamburger Steak. I usually ask for a hamburger steak on the first visit just to "feel" the place out. If they're using pre-made or they make their own....The flavor and texture of the patties. What kind of filling they use and how much of the patty is actually meat. You can tell a lot about the place just by the hamburger steak they serve. I get back to the office and open my container and.... WOW! The presentation is fantastic! A mini plate gets 2 sides, 1 beef patty with caramelized onions on top drizzled with brown gravy. What I like is that it was DRIZZLED and not slathered in gravy. One word to describe the plate: CLASSY. Even the mac salad had a sprinkle of paprika! The patty was grilled medium rare, just how I like it. It was firm with very little or no fillers and seasoned just right. The consistency of the gravy was smooth and tasty. It really highlighted the beef patty and matched the sweetness of the grilled onions. All and all, I enjoyed my lunch in the office, with looks of envy from my co-workers. Ordered via Bite Squad I got the grilled sirloin, with chimichurri sauce. You get to choose 3 sides for regular plates. I got double the salad and fries. So much for keto, but their fries were manini (small) so better for me! Steak was grilled perfect, wish it was salted a little. The chimichurri sauce was okay, tasted too citrus-y for me, i don't know what it was. I think I'll try the finadene one next or Hawaiian chili butter sauce. So Ono! I've Ordered takeout and in person they never disappoint! One of my favorite places when I need something quick.

I've driven by this place so many times and finally decided to try it out after seeing an Amanda and Felix YouTube video. The food was amazing, especially the Swiss burger that we ordered. It was a huge burger with a nice Brioche bun that was soft and sturdy to handle the burger, melted cheese, mushrooms, and sauce. The Hoisin Chicken plate was also tasty. As others have mentioned, the sides are different in that you get 2 with the burger and 3 with the plate lunch. The Coleslaw was actually nicely flavored, although a soggy, and the fried noodles were ok. We also got the French fries, which we loved, but just wish a few more were offered and the Mac salad was okay. The price was pretty reasonable; however, I have to say the amount and quality of sides were a little inconsistent from what we saw offered on the video. I will still go back for the burgers for sure and to try out some other offerings. Hopefully, I can revise my review to a 5! read more

I've seen this place and wanted to check it out since they had good reviews on here. I had the ahi Katsu and hubby had the Teri chicken. The full size plates come with 3 side choices I picked the homemade coleslaw, noodles, and toss greens since they make all their salad dressings. You pick from noodles, brown rice, white rice, coleslaw, Mac salad, and toss greens. It was fresh, good portion size and seasoned well. I probably would of ordered the ahi Katsu with the sauce on the side. It's a seared ahi not fully cooked (the way I like it) but normally when you get ahi Katsu it's fully cooked at other places. Service was friendly and quick because of Covid they only let one table inside to sit and eat. Definitely will be back! Had difficulty finding it at first as I didn't know that little plaza of shops had two restaurants facing the street. I've been wanting to try this place for quite some time and I'm glad that I did. I ordered the Braised Short Rib Loco Moco and got the Chopped Steak for my mom. While waiting for my food I browsed pictures of their food and de ided to also get the poke sampler too. I was starving by the time I got home from running errands and a Costco trip. The braised short rib was very tender and was flavored well. I think this is one of those dishes that is even better if you eat it there while it's hot - gravy items don't travel well with today s compostible containers. With your plate you get two other sides besides rice so I got the Cole Slaw and Mac & Cheese. Both were tasty - the slaw is not the type drenched and soaked in dressing, Mac & cheese was tasty but a bit on the salty side. MY mom said her Chopped steak was good but she wish it had a bit more veggies (no celery in there) but that it was tasty. Later tonight we had the poke sampler - I was still a bit full but once I started eating..... I really enjoyed it. The owner is very friendly and engaging - which is ALWAYS a plus for the customer's experience. The next time I visit (there will be more) I plan to try their teri-steak plate that looked super ono in the pics and also their desserts! I do have much respect for the small restaurant owners thst try menu items that are not rhd standard Zippy's and L&L menu stuff. This makes me want to return and try more of their dishes. Dynamic Duos If you're tired of the same boring sides with your plate lunch, then Aina Grills got you covered! It shares its clean and eating area with Fridas Hawaii. Yes, it's still Hot and New, and there is cool AC inside with even wall sockets for charging! Drooling over the menu, I wanted to try the Chili Dog with Fried noodles but they had already sold out! So we ordered Mini Teriyaki Chicken and Huli Huli Chicken. Mini plates come with two choices of sides regular plates come with bigger portions and 3 sides. While Aina Grill does have your rice, toss salad, and mac salad choices that usually come with many traditionals island plate lunches, they are not afraid to bolster new additions to the menu roster. You can choose from white, brown, or Spanish Rice (Yes!), Fried Noodles, French Fries, or my personal favorite, the Baby Potatoes with Cheese Sauce! (Yum!) Food came and I immediately noticed the care of the presentation. It wasn't messy like some places where they just slop your food into your plate. Food was delish! Different experience from all the other Hawaiian bbq places but still the same familiar tastes that islanders know and love. They've got some skills in the kitchen! The mini was worth the price for me as it did fill me up, but if you're really hangry, then the regular portions should shower you with the love you need! Overall, I do get the vibe that they are still new and working out the kinks and I believe with even more time and experience, that they can grow, improve, and expand its already robust menu. Came by for the first time and ordered a mini Catch of the Day with fried noodles and sautéed veggies (about $15). Fish did not seem fresh, sauce was heavy and fish was dense. Decided to try this new place in waipahu and had high expectations. Maybe I would give it more stars if it wasnt so expensive. But the food is not worth the price. Even considering they just opened I cant give them any more stars. The food is bland and although has a good presentation there is no flavor. Huli huli chicken has no flavor and tasted more like un-marinated bbq chicken. It was cooked well and was moist and not dry Fried noodles needed salt and pepper and I normally dont ever add salt and pepper Steak burnt and they forgot to put my sauce on top. But besides that it is good not dry. Shrimp was very good except I got the mild and it was still spicy. Cheese potato had good flavor but the sauce was all hard and solidified. Mini plates are not worth it!! I think it's better off getting a regular one. Hamburger steal only had one patty and it was $8! People working need more training. He was very patient as I took forever to decide what food and choose from the many side options they had. Forgot to take pics of our food before demolishing it. Got the sirloin steak and garlic shrimp with Spanish rice and mac n cheese, lemongrass chicken sandwich with lemongrass aioli, and the braised beef loco moco, with a few bbq pork sticks. I was enticed by the pictures and menu looking online for a place to eat. Stopped in and tried the surf and turf. The shrimp had a tasty mayo sauce like hawaiian style ebi mayo, but what really wow'd me was the grilled sirloin. The steak was grilled and seasoned perfectly and so satisfyingly delicious without the sauces. Had to get the sirloin again the next time I went there along with the fried chicken sandwich. Huge piece of chicken in that sandwich, with pickle and pepperslaw that was crunchy and tasty. On my last night in town I tried the BBQ pork sticks and swiss burger. The pork sticks were juicy porkbelly pieces with a sweat bbq glaze hawaiian style all the way that I loved and the swiss burger was very juicy and savory with the mushrooms and swiss together. I have to mention the sides too. The mac salad, mac cheese are good, coleslaw is crisp and sweet, very good. Mini potatoes have a rich cheese sauce and is really good and man those fried noodles local style I could each an entire bowl of alone. The sirloin with the spanish rice side the way it's shown in their pictures is a great combination together too. Everything I had there I'd get again. A great spot with friendly aloha spirit.
