Chicken pad thai ($12 pre tax/tip)
Jillian B.

I always see a big crowd outside this truck whenever I walk past, so I finally chose to give it a try! I am so glad I did... the chicken pad thai was solid, especially at that price point, and was a very generous portion. I was able to make two meals out of it! The people working there were nice too and I got my food quickly. Definitely recommend!

Really, REALLLLY good Thai food from this cart in Hanover Square. Noticed this cart in the area on a random weekday walk during lunch and, knowing how hard the food cart industry was hit during the pandemic, I always feel inclined to want to make a purchase from one, so I took a look at the menu and I was sold IMMEDIATELY. The menu was pretty much what you would expect to see if you're familiar with Thai food. They served various noodle and rice entrees as well as some appetizers to boot. The prices for everything seemed relatively reasonable for 2024 and I ended up getting a Pad See Ew ($11). However, after taking another glance at the menu and seeing a huge picture of a Thai Iced Tea on their cart advertising that it was $3, I couldn't help myself, so ring that one up too!! How was it you might ask??? The Pad See Ew was hot, fresh and delicious. The noodles, chicken and veggies were cooked perfectly and it was a fair serving. ANDDD best of all, I had a refreshing Thai Iced Tea to wash down the tasty entree. I typically don't order a beverage from a cart, but since it was my 1st time here, I couldn't resist - plus the big picture of it on their cart kept calling and calling me as I waited for my food to be cooked. I UNDOUBTEDLY will be coming back to try their other entrees (and to get another Thai Iced Tea to go along with it).

Updated review: The pad kee mao with shrimp was . Had a bit more spice and the basil was a nice touch. A not so hidden gem in fidi.... The food is amazing, very flavorful and not very oily. Walking by, you will wonder why there is such a large crowd on the corner but once you taste the food, you will understand why. I was NOT expecting so much flavor from a Thai food cart but let me tell you.... The food is absolute . This place would give a lot of store fronts a run for their money. I hope this business gets to the point where they can open up a storefront in FIDI. Pad see ew: great texture on the thicker noodles that soak up the seasoning. The soy sauce with the wok flavor was just perfect. And best of all, not too oily Curry puffs: very flakey and generous filling. Dipping sauce could use a bit of a revamp but it was amazing without it

Located off Hanover Square near near Wall Street area. This is a gem for anyone that loves Thai food. Definitely try it out and if you are short on time, just order ahead and do a pick up to avoid long lunch time lines. I got the Pad ee Eew Noodles with beef. Was definitely on point, just the beef was a bit over cooked. Check out my images and video for quality and quantity.

The food truck was great. I was walking along 32 and 3rd Ave when I ran into the truck. I got the chicken basil rice and it was delicious and very flavorful. Next time though I would love if they can provide some napkins with the food.

Lovely little thai food cart on the corner of Pearl and Hanover. Delicious pad see ew ($11) and thai iced tea ($3)! Accepts cash and card.

The service was great, and our food came out in a reasonable amount of time, especially considering the size of our group. I ordered the garlic sautéed broccoli with fried tofu, which came with a side of white rice, and it was excellent! Everything was cooked perfectly, and the seasoning was spot on. The garlic added so much flavor without being overpowering, and the tofu and broccoli paired really well together. Such a simple dish, but definitely one I'd order again! The restaurant itself also had a lovely atmosphere, with classy, tasteful decor. They were also offering complimentary Thai iced tea in exchange for a Google review, which a few people at our table took advantage of. Overall, great food, attentive service, and a beautiful space. I'd happily return to try more of the menu!

Nearly every seat was filled, and I was fortunate enough to grab an open seat at the bar. One thing I appreciate is a restaurant that delivers an authentic dining experience, and SaiTong Thai did not disappoint. I started with the fried shrimp wonton special, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. But the real showstopper was the pineapple fried rice (with vegetables). Loaded with fresh vegetables, pineapple, cashews, raisins, curry spices, and an incredible combination of textures and flavors, this dish was anything but ordinary. Too often, ordering a vegetable dish means getting a few basic additions. Not here! The variety, freshness, and attention to detail made every bite memorable. From the lively atmosphere to the outstanding food, SaiTong delivered a standing-ovation-worthy performance! Make this restaurant a priority when visiting the Theater District. I'll definitely be back for an encore.

The sauces and seasoning weren't bad, but - Crispy Papaya Salad: The dressing was good, but there was too much batter relative to the thinly sliced papaya. The green beans and nuts provided most of the crunch. - Chu Chee Duck: The curry sauce was fine, but it tasted like the Massaman curry base I've had at other Thai restaurants. The duck had crispy skin but was dry on the inside, and the entire dish was lukewarm at best. - Macaroni: Gave it a try. The sauce wasn't bad, but the dish didn't feel particularly Thai and reminded me more of Hong Kong-style cha chaan teng food (perhaps the macaroni itself). The pasta was too soggy. Service was good overall, although the server opened the disposable chopsticks from their paper sleeve and handed them to me by the wrong end. Overall, the flavors themselves weren't bad, but the execution was disappointing.

The coconut one was so delicious and one of my favorites that night The food was just as good. Our waiter recommended the three flavors branzino and it was so fresh and the sweet, tangy, sour and slightly spicy sauce on top was delicious. The ghang phed duck is one of their signatures and the duck was slightly dry but the curry sauce was so savory and flavorful I would order it again just for that. We also got the papaya salad because gotta have your greens For dessert we got the mango sorbet from the summer menu and it was great, just sad we couldn't get the mango sticky rice since it is completely out of season now but loved the mix of the blue sticky rice & mango sorbet together! We started with the curry puffs and satay buns, both of which were easy wins. No complaints, I would happily order them again. The Khao Soi was the highlight of my meal. Rich, comforting, and packed with flavor. I love when restaurants get this right. They also do super thin noodles in the khao soi which is a plus for me. I also tried a little bit of the crab fried rice which was also incredible. I also ordered the lychee mocktail. The drink itself was fairly average, but it came with a lychee mochi that completely stole the show. I honestly enjoyed the mochi more than the drink itself. Overall, this is just good, no-nonsense Thai food. Nothing feels overly gimmicky. The restaurant focuses on solid flavors, a beautiful space, and warm hospitality. Everything about this place was beautiful. My friend and I stumbled upon this restaurant since both…read moreof us love Thai food and she's never tried more of the authentic dishes. I happily introduced her to my two favorite go tos: the crab fried rice and the steamed branzino. The crab fried rice was nothing like I was used to. Even at some of the other notable Thai restaurants I've been to, their crab fried rice presentation was basic compared to this one. The egg on this fried rice was soft and melty the soon it touches your tongue, and we didn't even have to chew it. It melted perfectly with the buttery crab and the rice was so warm and soft. It was a sizable portion but it didn't take us long to gobble it all down. Then came the steamed branzino. The presentation here I want to say is so unique that it blew me away. The fish was cut so that the head and tail of the fish was chopped off (a little disappointed but glad it was clean cut), the fish was so soft you would question if it was even fish...the soup was lightly seasoned with chili and lime and it wasn't super overpoweringly spicy that you can still taste the fish flavor. Everything was delicious and they even had a pre fixe menu that I will definitely come back and try again! My drink I ordered was also very creative and a mix of strong bourbon with the creaminess of Thai tea. Very interesting combination but I don't hate it! It was strong and welcoming and I want to try the other drinks when I come back as well. As pictured, the drink menu is beautiful and our server came back and forth to make sure everything was okay. We actually stayed past closing hours but they weren't rushing us (which was very hospitable of them)

The crab fried rice had a decent amount of crab pieces and ample egg. Also, the aesthetic inside is nice - has a large bar area which I presume gets crowded in the evenings. The less good: I felt the prices for this restaurant were quite high for the quantity and quality of the food. Everything was good, but charging $33 for a fried rice dish is a bit steep. Also, iced jasmine tea is $7 which feels a bit excessive for the tier of restaurant. Overall I would be happy to return, though may not be my first choice in Thai restaurants in the area.

Drinks are awesome too and there is happy hour after 9pm with draft beer only at $5, very good deal. However the service upstairs was so bad that I almost made a scene. I waited a long time to get my check which I was already a little annoyed as the two servers including our server made eye contact with me several times and they ignored us. Once we got the check we asked for a to go box which they say they'll get us right away. However, they proceed to work on not important task like placing napkins and utensils on empty tables ( im sure it's not an urgent task since there is lots of empty tables with napkins and utensils) so I waited like 5 mins more while making multiple eye contact with him and he still didn't get the box for me. I had to walk to him and ask can I get my box please to finally get my thing. The very nice gentlemen next table even asked if I were ok and offer to buy me beer. And the ironic part is that they ordered beer like 20 mins ago and that didn't came so I kindly said no thanks.
