READ THE PAPERWORK. We used A1A to move from Boston to Salt Lake City. We chose them because the quote we got was super cheap. We didn't realize how much stuff we had so our total came out to be almost double. We figured it was still better than driving in a U-Haul over mountains, so we signed the papers and they took our stuff on the 29th of Sept. We drove one of our cars with a few boxes and arrived three long days later on the 2nd of Oct. We called to see when our stuff would arrive, and apparently it hadn't left their warehouse in NJ yet. So we said okay, when will it leave? All we got back in reply was "we don't know. It all depends on our other shipments and when the truck gets here." Okay that wasn't helpful but we signed the papers saying we wanted our stuff on the 10th of Oct. so we assumed they'd get it there by then. Wrong. Evidently, they have 21 days AFTER the date you request to deliver it to you. The movers who picked our stuff up never informed us of this policy, so when we called back a week later to see where our stuff was, and it STILL hadnt left NJ, we were not happy to say the least. After looking at the paperwork, the date we thought we were requesting our stuff by, Oct 10th, was actually our date of 'availability' for delivery. Again, the guys who picked our stuff up said this was our DELIVERY date, NOT our availability date. After frustratingly talking to the staff, they said they legally have 21 days after our availability date to deliver. Extremely frustrating. After some back and forth with the customer service staff, we threw our hands up and said it will get here when it gets here. On Oct. 16th we FINALLY received our things, 2 and a half weeks later, and not a thing was broken or scratched! The delivery men were very nice and took great care of our things. I gave this company 3 stars for the excellent condition our things arrived in and friendly delivery men, however the misunderstanding of dates and policy was aggravating to say the least. They did abide by the contract though, we were just not informed of all the policies prior to signing. So, if you choose to go with A1A, READ THE CONTRACT AND BE 100% SURE OF WHAT YOU ARE AGREEING TO. If I had to do it all again, I'd just rent the U-Haul. read more

Total trash business. I requested they stop sending me emails and warned them I'd file a complaint with the FTC after the second time I told them I was not interested and telling them over the phone as much. They then immediately sent a harassing text message to my phone. Unfortunately for them all of that was submitted to the FTC and complaints carry a $1000 fine per harassing message. So not only do they have bad customer service and apparently overcharge and under-deliver (if they deliver at all) but they also don't know when to stop bothering customers who knew to avoid them. read more

Company was extremely good with up front communications and pickup however completely lacking thereafter. We gave them a targeted delivery date and scheduled pickup based on their recommendation. We were assured expectations could be met without any issues so we chose this carrier over many others soliciting our business. Our pick up was great although final amount was quite a bit more than our original quote. Not complaining about that as it was somewhat anticipated and I don't want this review to be about the money. 24 days have past at this point and we still do not have any delivery or any indication when we will get delivery. We have made many, many, many calls but can hardly ever get any one to speak to. Messages and emails are never returned (except for one time). We feel completely ignored and that this company is uncaring at this point. Hoping others that have used this carrier have had a better experience but I would not recommend to anyone. This was one of the worse experiences EVER. First off, 2 days before my scheduled move, the dispatch manager, Steffany calls to tell me because I never signed the electronic credit card copy I was not on their list of pick ups. Turns out this is a "scare tactic" (words from one of their own employees) Steffany uses to get people to sign a stupid form. Mind you they already had taken the money out of my account. The stress that created for me was unnecessary, especially considering I booked this move months in advance. My things were picked up on June 29th and I just received them on July 21st. Everyday if was a different excuse. One time they told me one of the trucks broke down and they were waiting for a part to come in. The sad part is the actual movers themselves did an excellent job, but their front office/ operations team is horrible. You can't lie to customers to get the results you want. Absolutely horrific experience. The company gave me a binding estimate of $1450. They then committed contract fraud by adding to the price after I had signed and they had left with all of my possessions which is a Federal felony and are now illegally holding all of my possessions hostage and threatening to auction everything if I don't pay them $2300 among other illegal intimidation tactics. Never Deliver on Time! I can not give anything less - it is the worst! The sales team sold us on 3-5 business days of delivery and that is what the delivery guys said too when they picked up my stuff!! They charged me $300 on top of the original quote only because the back of my recliner was 'out of my assigned space'! Just the top of it - not even the whole thing!! I was even left thinking if I should get a new one or not because they would not accept it! And now - 12 business days later - I still have not received my stuff. They are saying it is still in their NJ warehouse and has not left yet. Definitely not recommended ! read more

If i could rate in negative numbers i would! We made it clear before signing any contracts that we needed our stuff by december 1st and they agreed, they even said the day when our thing should be picked up so they would deliver "on time" (pick up was november 19th) as im writing this review is december 14th and no news on our stuff AT ALL. When we called dispatch because our contract said "guaranteed delivery date december 1st" the lady on the phone said that it was our mistake because we didn't read the small letters nor the remaining 16 pages (that they gave us after everything was loded in the truck and they were ready to drive away) and if we wanted our things on that date we had to pay "VIP service" which nobody had EVER mentioned before or at pick up. When we called on the "guaranteed delivery date" we got really rude "customer service" to say the least... again, today is december 14th and We currently have no idea what is the location of the truck, when will it arrive or anything, we are sitting in a empty house with 3 kids during a "stay at home" order, spending extra money on stuff we already have in the truck just so we can survive these couple of weeks thanks to their irresponsability! On top of that we are very worried about the status of our possesions because it has almost been a month since they have them. To make things worst they even left a mattress behind at the storage unit where they picked up our stuff... very professional right? read more

DO NOT USE THIS "MOVING COMPANY" THEY ARE FRAUDS! I was searching for a company to move me from Philadelphia to Bronx, NY. I thought everything would be great with this company when I was giving them my credit card for the $1241 move back in October 2016. They arrived on October 9, 2016 for the pickup in Philly. Immediately one of the movers David wanted to charge me for the stairs since I lived on the third floor. I explained to him that the sales lady Julessa W. gave me the stairs for free. After going back and forth and me having to call dispatch, everything was fine. Before the movers arrived I went to Uhaul to buy boxes especially since I had a 70 in tv with no box. I took pictures of the movers in my old apartment with all the boxes packed. The assured me my items would be fine as my things were being moved into THEIR storage facility. For 7 months I would call Stephanie in Dispatch and pay my storage bill. I have all the receipts showing my things were in their storage. Fast forward to April 29, 2017 I get a phone call saying my things would be delivered on April 30th between 11-1....GREAT! Then, I get a call back saying they have a delivery before me so my things won't arrive until 3 pm...okay, cool! 3:00 comes and goes. I start calling at 4:30 and couldn't reach anyone. I finally got ahold of someone in customer service which transferred me to Levani K who tells me my things are definitely being delivered and not to worry. The drivers finally arrive at 9:30pm..that's a long way from 3pm on a Sunday when I have to get up at 3 am to arrive in Philly for work the next day. I still accepted the delivery, of course. My apartment is small and tight which is why I my things sat in their storage for 7 months while my boyfriend and I made room in our place for my things as I was moving into his apartment. We still didn't have a lot of room so we had the movers place my things in the hall outside our apartment. I stood in the hallway holding the door open while my bf moved my things inside by himself. REMEMBER, I STAYED IN THE HALLWAY. At one point by bf finished moving all the things inside so he pulled up a chair and sat in the hallway with me waiting for the next pieces. It took David and his crew a while to come back upstairs so I said it would suck if they were stuck in the elevator. We both sat in the hallway laughing and joking around. They finally come back with my bed and say "okay, that's it". I said where is the couch and my bf said where is the tv. David said "I brought them up here and sat them outside the door. Um, no sir, you did not! He swears up and down he did. Meanwhile, I was in the hallway THE WHOLE TIME! So a ghost stole my tv and couch. So David says to call the police because someone must have came outside their apartment and stole my things. So again, a ghost stole my tv and my couch. It was really funny to watch how David's story changed when the police arrived. He went from "someone stole it from the elevator" to "someone stole it from the hallway". Then, he calls his manager Levani K. and puts me on the phone with him. I told Levani they never brought the tv or couch up here. Then, David gets back on the phone and they start speaking in their language. The police searched the truck and of course my stuff isn't there. I waited almost 3 weeks thinking the moving company would call and rectify the situation but they never called. I called on May 11th and spoke with Stephanie to get receipts showing my things were in their storage for 7 months. She emailed them to me with no problem. I called back today May 12th to see what they were planning to do and she says this is the first time she's hearing about this. Stephanie calls Levani who tells her that David is trustworthy and they watched my tv leave their storage facility...so, that doesn't mean it arrived here at my apartment. Then, Stephanie wants to argue talking about David has been with the company for years...that's great for him! I never accused him or stealing my things. My thought was maybe they left it behind or mistakenly delivered to the drop off before me. But David was adamant he moved the tv and couch upstairs....then why did the cameras in my building and in the elevator never see him or any other mover bringing the tv or couch upstairs? Fishy! If I could have given them 0 stars, I would. Luckily for me, I have all my receipts as well as the camera footage, storage receipts and phone bills showing our call history. I also have all the information and affidavits from the police...an airtight case! I never wanted to take them to court. I just wanted my stuff back. That was it. But the fact that they refuse to acknowledge my stuff is missing in the first place is crazy. Then, Stephanie says I never wrote down what was missing...I didn't have to cause the police did. Plus, the movers make you sign for your delivery and pay for it before they actually bring it off the truck. That's okay though! read more

The worst service I have ever experienced. Stephanie- the "manager" was so rude and ignored my calls as I was waiting a whole month for my furniture. Not only that but they damaged two of my TV's of which I had full insurance on but somehow it didn't qualify for coverage. Wouldn't recommend these guys to anyone, horrible! read more

If I could give them negative stars I would they had broken most of my stuff cracked one of my TVs and we're very careless with the boxes I had wrote fragile on the box and yet they throw them around they were all dented it was holes in the boxes such a horrible experience! My moving crew, Jeremy, Rick, and Andy were powerhouses! They worked really hard and handled all my things carefully. They were also personable and fun in the process despite 90 degree temperatures. Seven months ago I had AIA Movers LLC pick up all my belongings, in West Hartford, CT. I emphasized many times not to forget my bike. Which I parked near the back of the moving van. It was also listed on their inventory list. Later that night I went out to the driveway, only to discover they left my bike behind!! That was late January, 2017. I called and they made arrangements to pick up my bike where I was staying for a month before moving to FL. They came and did pick up the bike mid February. It is now early September and my bike has not been delivered!!! I am now in Sarasota, FL and some how my bike has been sitting in Miami for almost 7 months now.. I have called more times than I can count. With empty promises the bike would be delivered the following weekend.. Hasn't happened!!!! I would NEVER use this moving company to be entrusted with any of my personal possessions again!! The bike was an expensive high end one. As I was looking forward to riding in FL. But here I sit with the situation totally unresolved and I'm not getting any where with them!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY if you VALUE your belongings. You'll NEVER see them again!! I want my bike so badly I'm considering driving four hours to Miami to pick it up myself. But now there's Hurricane Irma coming to slam that area. This was the worst moving experience I have encountered in my 10 moves for the military. They told me it would take up to 14 days and yet it was almost a month and they never gave me an update or returned my calls. They told me the same thing every time I would call and be on hold for 30 minutes. The movers that showed up to load my stuff took 7 hours and did not speak English so alot of things got lost in the communication. They charged me extra on the day of the move for stuff I listed on my inventory list prior. They would not respond to any emails after I paid so I had no idea when my entire house was being shipped. They didnt tell m I need cash on delivery so on the 24th day of waiting the sub contractors called and i had no idea I needed $2000 in cash so that created a problem and they magically called me to find out the issue but I hadnt heard from them before that. I wish I could give them a negative rating. two tvs cracked and and a dresser damaged beyond repair. No information on how to file a claim.....worst experience of my life. When you don't think it could happen to you. From personal experience, I would not recommend this company. 1. Alicia under estimated my move and told me we could have a delivery of July 13th or 14th. The delivery took place on July 21st. On top of that, we moved into a fairly large community and the driver said he could not drive his truck on these roads, so he unloaded our household items at the sales office and I had to hire two guys to move my household items to our new place. 2. Alicia altered my contract by the cubic feet, made it less, and after the packers packed the van, they told me I was above my limit which cost an additional $$. At that point, they have your items. 3. I called numerous times, almost daily, and the staff was rude. At one point, I called 4 times and each time they picked up the phone and hung up. They know who is calling. Then when I called from someone else's phone, they picked up. 4. When I called the Miami office and spoke with Steven, he was unable to provide a delivery date so I asked to speak to his supervisor. His response was I don't have one. I asked to speak with the owner or executive. He transferred me to Gianni (so ??) and when I explained how I was told they could not provide me with a delivery date, how rude his employees were, etc., he thanked me and told me he would look into this and get back to me. Never received a phone call or communication from him. I called on several occasions after that initial call and they told me he was in the warehouse and couldn't talk, he was in a very bad car accident, and recently he was out of the country. 5. One thing I found interesting was that the truck had A1A, but the van was North American. I have a picture. This decision of mine to go with A1A was a mistake. I feel they tell you one price to get you to sign a contract, but then they increase your pricing and at that point, they have your household items and you have no recourse. Stay away from this company. I'm filing a complaint with the Department of Transportation. A1A appears to have violated at least three items from DOT's website. read more

My sales representative was Jennifer she was sweet and wonderful ! they made my move so stress-free and easy that my worries of leaving my old place and concern of unpacking in my new place was gone. In my option this is the worst moving service.. they took my stuff from NY on March 30th and it has been sitting at there Jersey facility for a week.. they told me it's almost ready to leave.. Besides my apt stuff in the Truck my clothes are too so I have been living in a suitcase.. I am also paying rent in an apt I can't live in.. i spoke to the unhelpful manager and she said there is nothing she could do and I should of read the fine print.. I told her the mover told me the earliest they would be there was April 4th. He didn't tell me that my stuff will be sitting in a warehouse in Nj for a week.. I am very unhappy with this service & the manager who I spoke to .. I personally would never use this service again.. in my opinion I've been ripped off!!!! If you use them after seeing the other reviews and this, you want to get mad! I made a mistake because I was short on time for a job opportunity. I did not want to take the time to do this but if I can save 1 person it's worth it. I do also understand things can get messed up in a move. But this..... 1. Lied saying I could pay with a card if I did it far enough in advance for all 3 payments. They ended up letting me do the first 2 after a headache but not the 3rd. 2. Lied saying they were going to crate my bike, then when it showed up underneath a ladder and boxspring they said they did it at the warehouse and then took it out to ship??? Then they said I only paid for handling of the bike after being told by the rep and the first set of movers they were going to ship it in a crate. 3. Lied about not not contracting the jobs out. They sent me an email with their company number and assured me they were not brokers!! The delivery driver called from USA van lines to schedule a drop off time 5 hours prior instead of the 24 to 48 I was told. 4,5,6&7Nothing was handled with any kind of care!! Handles on 4 of 5 totes were broken and lids cracked, my 3 month old queen mattress looked like a pitcher of red kool-aid was dumped on it and was wet for 3 days and my king size had blood and black scuff marks and they were inside of a protective bag NO IDEA how that happened! Tv was in the box but upside down with the boxspring puncturing through it. It did still work which was nice. boxes were crushed and upside down. 8 The price I was quoted after sending pics of my belongings going over inventory increased 700 after they put it on the truck and I was 23 boxes under what we said I had just Incase they tried to pull this.......... Do not use them. You will regret it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They do not deserve the 1 star read more

Drop off was hours late with not even a single phone call. Supposed to arrive at 3 pm, didn't bother to show up till 9:30...but of course not with all my things either. Funny how I paid $1241 for them to move a certain amount of stuff but they delivered less and still collected the final payment at the end. They picked up my things October 9, 2016 and took them to their storage unit for 7 months which I paid for. October 9th was the last time I saw my leather reclining couch, 70 in TV and my Xbox one which was in a moving box that I packed. The whole box is gone! The driver said he brought the items upstairs and someone came out of their apartment and stole a heavy couch and TV at all the same time...yeah I'm sure I know who that someone is! If you want your things stolen, hire this fraudulent "company ". They refuse to take responsibility or return my things to me so we're headed to court. I really just want my stuff back! I should've read up on all of their reviews first. I was grossly under estimated. The 2 guys packing we're very polite and hard working, by the time they finished it was extremely late and my new price almost doubled from the original. No attempt was made to clear out the packing mess left behind or even the bulb broken by them, they didn't even tell me they broke it to give me a chance to clean it up. I called the next day and was told fluctuation is to be expected as was the fact that some of my large items were left behind due to huge price difference. No apologies for anything, no attempt to rectify, just that I should've expected this. I was originally told I would receive my furniture 3-4 days later and now told 7-10 and I'll get a call a day before and that's it. Customer service is horrible, ability to give any resemblance of even a slightly accurate estimate is apparently out of the realm of possibility. Let's just hope they can redeem themselves upon delivery of my household goods. UPDATE: So after posting this review I was contacted by the rudest male ever. Kept interrupting me and then became upset when I tried to finish what I was saying. Nasty attitude to the point I hung up. Then some woman calls and suddenly they no longer accept credit cards as payment for anything more than deposit, I explained when reserving that this would be paid in it's entirety on a CC. I was told that the balance must b paid in full then at time of pick-up on my CC. Now they won't release my belongings for delivery without a check for the balance of over $3600 or certified funds! The only change I made was removed a refrigerator and added a washer and dryer. Fridge was not loaded and neither we're the washer and dryer along with my stand up freezer. I actually had less on the truck than I was even quoted for. read more

Terrible service! I booked my interstate move through another carrier, who unfortunately contracted with A1A Movers to deliver my belongings. The movers were horribly unprofessional and inexperienced. They arrived late with no apology, placed boxes of books on top of boxes with fragile items, carried and placed fragile boxes upside down, assembled furniture incorrectly, didn't ask where in the room I wanted furniture placed, argued with me when I told them an item wasn't mine, tried to rush out when they hadn't finished assembling all furniture, knocked over my neighbor's potted plant and didn't clean it up or even tell me about it, and scolded me when I insisted on reading the paperwork before signing it. I would absolutely not recommend A1A. read more

WORST experience! Charged me $600 in long carry for something that was not even a long distance for only 13 boxes, a bed, two arm chairs, and 2 counterstool chairs. What a joke. Crew in Florida with driver Jonathan were such jerks! Jonathan and the other mover told one of the guys installing my floor 'see how I screw her' in Spanish.. thankfully my cousin is Colombian so she understood. They refused to take my stuff off the truck unless we paid $300 cash even though I have a receipt that shows I had a zero balance as I paid in full when they moved my stuff from NJ. Mishel-the dispatch in Miami was such a jerk- changed my moving day 3 times and then screamed at me and hung up on me multiple times. Not to mention they broke a piece of my furniture..shattered and split the wood and glass. What an unprofessional bunch of thieves! My original quote was 787 and I ended up paying 1600 for the items I listed above... don't ever use this company. Not worth the stress. I would give negative stars if I could. This company lies about everything. They said originally that the move would take 3-7 days max (we got our furniture and household goods in 11 days). When I called the day after to find out when the delivery would come, the office staff started telling me that they have up to 21 days by some b.s. law (as if I would know that). They told me in the beginning that they handle the whole move, and that they are NOT a broker, that it would be on their trucks. This was a LIE! When the delivery finally arrived it was brokered out to some 3rd party delivery service. Of course I was not informed of this. The driver shows up and has NO help, yes no help and tells me that if I don't help he will have to go into rest and come back the next day hopefully with workers to assist. So I called their dispatch in Miami and this smartass guy answers, starts telling me after I complain about them farming out my delivery to a 3rd party that this is the way the industry is. He doesnt apologize for any inconvenience or for the poor service, I mean what a joke. Finally when I tell him the driver has no help, he says it is no longer in A1A's hands and that he will reach out and get it resolved. He NEVER called back, and finally unbelievably my family had to help unload my own paid delivery so we could finally sleep on something besides a air mattress. NEVER, ever spend your money with this company. Rent a budget truck, with a car carrier, and move yourself before letting any of these people get their hands on your move read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FROM LINDEN NJ. I would never recommend this company due to their deceitful practices, incompetence and lies. First, they will initially give you an in accurate estimate and request a down payment. When the movers show up they will tell you that you have more than what the estimate is and since you are on a time frame you have no other choice. The estimate quadrupled on my move and they requested an additional down payment that reflected half of the total amount. They then placed my stuff in storage and when it came time to deliver it took them an additional 10 days to do so. Upon arrival they requested cash and would not unload the truck until you sign the paperwork and pay them. They do not allow you the opportunity to count your items and when I advise them I was going to count the stuff and ask them to remain they left knowing there was no way I could chase them up the block. As such there was damaged furniture, missing boxes and missing items that they loaded . When I called the company they referred me to their third-party administrator Anthem Claims who stated that since I signed the paperwork I agreed that all was good. They initially said they needed to conduct an investigation and get in touch with their insured. Their investigation consisted of asking their insured if the boxes were delivered and if any paperwork was signed. They never took a statement from us or statement from their insured and this constitutes bad faith. They also would not provide us with the name of the insurance carrier nor would they advise if this company has a self-insured retention, again acting in bad faith.They took advantage of two disabled people and as far as I am concerned stole our Personal stuff. They took advantage of us during hurricane Irma as we relocated from New Jersey to Florida. They are nothing but a pack of liars and should be out of business due to their deceitful business practices. I do not recommend this company at all and the lowest number of stars I was able to give them was one otherwise I would've rather give them a -10. I now have to sue them in court and I am also going to press charges against them for theft of services as well as the fifth and grand larceny because our damages are in excess of $15, 000. Again I don't know how they can sleep knowing that they took advantage of to disabled people. There is a reason that they are not a member of the Better Business Bureau because they are a pack of liars and engage in deceitful business practices as far as I am concerned. read more

one of the worst experiences of my life!!! stay away from a1a moving & storage!!! everything in caps so u get the point!! they stole my tv and i wont be reimbursed for it!!! they broke my chair and i highly doubt ill be compensated for it!!they try to charge u more and more with hidden fees (shuttle services, if u dont have an elevator they will charge u). theyre all ghetto, thugs, scammers, liars and on top of that they want a tip!!! their website is false advertising!! delivery is a week late and would of been later had i not been calling them so often. please stay away from them. i dont write reviews, i downloaded yelp just so i can inform people just how dishonest this company is. stephanie is the supervisor and the only one in customer service and she keeps u on hold and makes no effort to help u. they answer u, but once they have their money they begin to disappear when u need them. i cant say it enough, stay away!!!! read more

If i could give 0 stars i would. The moving company misquoted me by over $1,000 dollars. They loaded everything up and then told me it was way going to be $2200 to move. Once we settled this.. ended up paying 600 more than quoted. It took them over a month to move my furniture. Once i received my furniture over half of it was SEVERELY damaged. They broke our wooden dinning room table, tried gluing it back together and LEFT THE GLUE IN MY LIVING ROOM! I cant make this up, it was unbelievable. The movers also stole an amazon fire stick from my residence and then lied about it when i caught them. When i called the manager to complain and explain that they stole something and got caught, he called me a liar and hung up on me. DO NOT MOVE WITH THEM!! This was the worst experience and I am still dealing with the claims department. I wish i could upload the pictures to show you. Bed frame, cracked. Dresser, destroyed.
