I sought her help in good faith, hoping to improve communication within my marriage. At the time, I was navigating a demanding career transition, which limited my availability for sessions. Meanwhile, my husband was able to attend more frequently and began meeting with her individually. Over time, I felt that this imbalance significantly affected the dynamic. Melinda appeared to view my husband as "more invested," and the process became increasingly one-sided. The situation escalated when she included both of us in a group text and openly criticized me, labeling me as the primary issue in our relationship. This felt unprofessional and deeply inappropriate for someone in a counseling role. The aftermath of this experience was damaging. It reinforced a harmful dynamic in my marriage, ultimately contributing to our separation. One of my biggest takeaways is the importance of working with a licensed therapist for marriage counseling. Licensed professionals are held to ethical standards and oversight, which helps protect clients in vulnerable situations. In contrast, life coaches and hypnotherapists are not bound by the same regulatory boards. When I started to write something (I won't call it a review) for Josefa, I wasn't ready. I wanted what I wrote to mean something and to reflect how I feel about the affect she's had on my life. So, I'll take a shot now, but I'm still not sure I can do her justice. Josefa is a truly gifted person. She not only had an almost immediate understanding of the person I was, but also a tremendous insight into 'why I was' and how I could be the person I wanted to be. It's interesting because I had visited a counselor on and off over many years, whom I thought was good. However, in just two coaching sessions with Josefa, I discovered things about myself that I had neither thought of nor discussed, previously. Over the course of working with Josefa for a few months, she helped me to better understand myself, which led to quite a change in the way I feel about myself and how I interact with the world around me. From session to session, she always was on top of what we had previously discussed and was familiar with issues that were currently affecting my life. And, she was always on point with suggestions on how to best handle situations. Furthermore, the suggestions were ones that I could carry forward with me to future issues. Does everything work out for me now exactly like I want it to... of course not. But, I can certainly handle things much better now than I previously could. It may sound like I was a basket-case prior to working with Josefa. I don't think that's the 'case', but I certainly had issues. I imagine I still do. But, now I have much more of an inner calm about myself and confidence in myself that I never had previously. Thank you, Josefa. You have made a tremendous difference in my life.

People don't normally like to review mental health services but I think it's so important to help…read morethe next person find their right fit. I have been seeing Michelle since about August 2019. She truly is an empathetic, warm, honest, compassionate person (like I want to be friends with her outside of this). She makes me feel seen and heard in a way you wish everyone could. She has helped me grow and flourish, and arguably is an empath just like me. She doesn't talk too much about herself or make you feel dumb. She truly takes the time to understand you and push you to be better. The practice (pre covid) was easy to check in at. You walked up the stairs, typed your name into an iPad and the therapist came to get you. I could not recommend this office enough. If Michelle is this good, I am confident other therapists are as well.
