Well, I'm sure glad that I started sessions with Marcy. She doesn't mess around and shot me straight. I really appreciate that because I don't want people blowing smoke up my ass. So we first covered the topics of my excess boozing. I had a couple instances where I upset the wife because of my partying. She pointed out nicely that these mess ups wouldn't have happened if I was normal human and cooled out on the drinking. We then had sessions with my wife as well, where Marcy gave me some decent tips for marriage counseling. It really helped to get this perspective on where I went wrong, because my friends have no clue about these topics and are basically not very helpful. Dr. Silverman had the best reviews so I gave him a call. He answered the phone and I was able to get an appointment that same week. After a discussion with Dr Silverman and Rebecca, they asked if I wanted to go ahead with the testing. It's not typically covered by insurance and they went over the costs with me. First I went through a computer assessment and then brain mapping via EKG. As I suspected, I was diagnosed with ADHD. I purchased a treatment package of neurofeedback sessions and have been going twice a week. I feel really grounded after each session and feel like I'm making good progress. This office treats both children and adults. They even offer Saturday hours, which are very convenient.

My life has always been like the craziest Rollercoaster in the world. I once was considered one of the best in my career, and later found myself homeless. I never could understand why my life had turned out like it had. I blamed others for all my misfortunes. I knew I had a problem, but always thought I had it under control. I had managed to stay clean almost 3 years this last time. Once again, thinking I had a grasp on my addiction. I ended up using, and relapsing. I was ashamed, and felt worthless. I was at the point of giving up. I had lost everything due to my addiction. I had nothing else to loose. The only problem was, I wasn't ready to die! I reached out to someone in recovery, and they told me I needed to go to rehab. The following day I went through the in-take process of a treatment center in East Mesa. Afterwards I was told they didn't have any openings, but to call everyday to see when they might be able to get me in. I left feeling even more hopless than before I went. A few hours later I received a call from someone. They asked me if I was serious about wanting help? I said yes, they asked if they knew of a place, would I go today? I said yes. I was given a number to call. I immediately called the number. It was already late in the day,but I called anyway. Stephanie, who I will refer to as an Angel from God, answered the phone. She told me she was there to help and everything was going to be alright. She said she was going to help!! She told me she had to make some calls, but would get back to me before 6:30pm. She was going to see if she could get me in that night, worst case she would get me in first thing in the morning. I knew I couldn't do another night out on the streets, I knew I might not live through the night. I had totally given up on everything, including her reaching someone at that time of the day to get me admitted. At 6:20 my phone rang, Stephanie told me she had everything taken care of, and gave me an address to go too. That was where my whole life changed!!! I thought on my way there, why am I doing this? Who really cares about me anyway? Once I got to the address I was welcomed in by the house manger Charles He said we are all about to eat. Come join us!! I have never felt so welcomed by strangers as I did that day. The following day I attended group where I met Kyle, the therapist, who I had met in the past. Little did I know this man would become my savior!! Kyle not only taught me about my addiction. He taught me about myself. One of my biggest fears in life has always been love. She went to talk to Dr. Foster and came back and told me that I checked in exactly 5 minutes late and Dr. Foster has a 5-min rule (first time I was hearing of this), so if you are 5 min. late, you lose your spot and have to reschedule. She offered to let me wait 40 more minutes after already waiting 40 min so they could work me in for a new appointment or to reschedule for another day. I can respect the 5 min. late rule, even though it was never communicated to me ahead of time or upon my arrival, but why would they just let me sit there for 40 minutes and not tell me they cancelled my appointment? This felt so unprofessional and disrespectful. So, for medication management, I recommend going elsewhere.
