I wanted to like this place. Limited menu. Bad service and over priced food. Honestly being from Phoenix it's so hard to find good food down in Tucson. It was recommended by a friend at work. The yellowtail curdo was fantastic and if we had just had that it would have been 5 stars We had 9 dollar bread ( was not told it was 9 dollars. Bread is free people) 18 dollar wedge salad that was chopped for some reason. The 2 entrees were ok and reasonably priced but the pasta was over cooked and the chicken dish was so so. Our waitress looked like she was 12 and acted like it. Continuously let out glasses get below half empty and sometime empty. Never brought by 2nd glass of wine. Then had the audacity to tell me she took it off my bill...no joke. It was my birthday and my wife was pissed that they didn't do anything. She put it on the reservation. No candle, no treat, nada! Appetizers entrees and 1 glass of wine each ( should have been 2 but...) and 9 dollar bread came out just way too much for the quality and service. Why can't Tucson be better!?!? read more

Really great restaurant Had not been here in quite a while and we came down tonight , the place was packed and the food, well really fabulous. Everything went as though it had been rehearsed which it had not.I will start with braised calamari, I have never experienced it before and my gosh it is,a home run right out of the park , I could eat it everyday, than we split n order of the steak n fries. Amazing that flank steak could ever be so tender and juicy, and the fries, salted to perfection, plus crunchy. We were in heaven .the food really stacked up.to wonderful service. Well, this place is pretty proud of themselves....(cue the eye roll)To be fair we didn't eat here. But we did grab a margarita at their outside bar because Seis Restaurant doesn't serve alcohol at this location. (Thumbs up on Seisin Mercado) It was the smallest margarita I've ever had (6oz cup) with mostly ice!!! And they were $13 a piece!!! Holy sh!t! Really....? Seriously it was HALF the size of any other margarita I've ever had. So, basically a "full size" margarita cost us $26! Needless to say this turned me off so much from ever trying this place for a meal. The bartender was dry and unfriendly-for a $26 margarita he could of at least offered a smile... call me crazy! However, when we got there, we found out that we were only able to eat from the brunch menu, which only had various toasts and salads or oysters, as well as a few appetizers. We found this to be pretty limiting, but since we were hungry and trying a new place, we decided to stay, however I did doc a star for this. The server was friendly and helpful. I think he was serving all tables seated and he did a good job. We ordered the shrimp toast and the BLT toast. Both were good! The shrimp toast was a patty, we almost thought it was chicken. Decent dinner during a work trip. Shared the dinner rolls and calamari with coworkers. Had the seared tuna salad for entree and soda shoppe sundae for dessert. Salad was good though the tuna portion was a little small; the wonton strips were a little salty. Soda shoppe sundae was basic hot fudge sundae but decent. Service was attentive. I was excited to visit this restaurant and leave a positive review. However my experience was not exactly the best. I started out with a Yellowtail crudo app - it is essentially raw fish but it took over 30 minutes. During that time my waiter never checked on me or apologized for the wait. Luckily she did much later in the evening. The entree in order was the lamb chops. The entree order seemed small compared to other orders of lamb chops and they give you no sides. I left hungry and had to go to another restaurant. The only reason this is 3 stars is because the food was actually pretty good. The steak was very bland and overcooked when I asked for medium rare. It also came with a piece of wax paper, the waitress right away offered to take it off of the bill and have it remade but it wouldn't have made a difference because other family members ordered the same thing and agreed that the steak was not flavorful at all. First time in today. We had reservations so it wasn't an issue to get seated. There isn't always parking in the street, but there is dirt lots that the overfill parking is supposed to park in. Short menu, but everything we tried had great presentation and tasted awesome. Apparently they have won some awards for their bread? So make sure you try some :). Right out of the gate I could tell something was wrong 12:30 on a Friday (lunch time) and the place was empty and smelled like fish. Another restaurant in the same plaza had a line to get in that stretched out to the street. After being sticker shocked while ordering, by the astronomically priced food we waited in an empty restaurant because the tables outside offered zero shade. Our food came out. My wife loves a good Cesar salad and he comments where something along the lines of.. it's pretty hard to mess up a Cesar salad! She wasn't happy. My potato pancake was RAW in the middle.. not like a little squishy, it was stone cold raw. My mom didn't complain about her eggs but mentioned that it was odd to have eggs in a weird Italian style tomato sauce, it wasn't what she expected and I think she was being polite. I think it's safe to say the place is empty for a reason. I would recommend pulling fish off the menu if it is smelling up the entire restaurant. Had a short day trip to Tucson and my cousin came across this place online for brunch. The both of us got cappuccinos and they were perfect. Just the right amount of caffeine for me to make the drive back to Phoenix. For food, I got the Eggs Benedict as it was recommended by our server. My cousin got the Biscuits & Chorizo Gravy. If I had to do it all over again, I would go with the biscuits - it was so flavorful and obviously was memorable. My eggs Benedict was nothing special and didn't really seem like a twenty dollar dish. Service was a little slow but everyone was nice. We got a table outside and were able to enjoy the beautiful weather that we're finally getting again in Arizona. I've been here several times for brunch and dinner and it's been a bit expensive but good. Now they've changed the brunch menu and stopped doing table service. Getting up each time someone at your table needs something gets old when the prices and tip expectations are still the same. We had an 8:15 reservation on a Sunday night; restaurant closes at 9pm. We waited about 10 minutes for a server to come to our table. Then we were rushed the entire time. I realize that we got there less than an hour before closing time, but if they want to close right at 9pm, don't take reservations that late. When we asked to order wine, the server first checked if we could cork it and take the bottle, indicating we were not welcome to stay long enough to finish it. We shared the farmers salad, which was lovely - interesting mix of ingredients and not too much dressing. The dinner rolls were rather dry, but somewhat saved by the amazing whipped butter with smoked salt. I had the lamb ragu, which had great texture but could've used more seasoning. My boyfriend ordered the steak frites, medium rare. The thin crispy fries with it were delicious. First few bites of steak were fine but it was incredibly undercooked in the middle. Again, I feel like they just didn't bother to take the time to cook it properly because the kitchen was closing. Overall, the good aspects of the dinner were not enough to make up for the underwhelming aspects and rushed service. read more

The first thing about this review is that I was not unhappy with our dining experience. There was just much to be desired considering how expensive this restaurant is. The seating honestly is hard metal chairs and is not comfortable at all. The restaurant is beautiful but they went too simplistic on the tables and chairs and made it seem cheap. Our server was friendly but not very attentive to us. He almost acted as if we were the table off to the side that he didn't want to deal with but had to. He was slow in bringing our drinks and in returning to check on us. The food while it tasted excellent was very overpriced for what you to. Sadly, this restaurant is extremely over priced with poorly executed meals and unfortunately anticlimactically tasteless entrees... Recommend: No - for food. Yes for ambiance. I absolutely hate to place negative slanted reviews out there and strive for finding the good in ALL things for restaurants, (especially for the hard workers pushing this economy on this side of COVID) but coming from global experiences for over a quarter century and being certified in food preparation, there is nothing here I can honestly promote other than the ambiance? Meals are extraordinarily high, unsalted, unflavored 'chef' prepared and generally tasteless. To be honest, you can devour a better meal with 2X the flavor at a local Texas Roadhouse over this costly venue at 2X the speed and less than half the cost. To enter this restaurant there is no indication how to actually to enter it, and nothing is posted on either Google or their website, but you must enter it from the courtyard at 3 differing points, (no 'front' door per se) but again, this is never clear until you stumble around to find it. Poorly executed... The decor inside I applaud with a richly designed interior, but the outside pavilion was trashed with deposited oranges from the trees in the courtyard. No one on the management team deemed it appropriate to clean this up daily for inbound guests serving meals extending into the $40.00 range per person?! No thought at all to sweep up the piles of squashed oranges, fallen leaves or debris...? The missed details, displeasing bland food was numbingly surprising. I honestly can not recommend a restaurant this poorly performing as an 'upscale' expectation for any reasoning. Came with a larger group for a late dinner. The service could have been better but the some of the food made up for it. Some of the better dishes we ordered were the oysters (pretty fresh), mussels (a hearty portion in a delicious citrus butter broth), Osso buco (the pork shank was very tender and the papardelle was tasty) and the cioppino (a well-flavored fisherman's stew). My wife and I were in town visiting my daughter. We were looking for some place to eat an early dinner. Unfortunately, most places in Tucson don't start serving dinner on Sunday's until 5 pm. Kind of weird, but luckily AG has happy hour with a really nice patio. So we decided to kill an hour on the patio then move into the dining room. I really liked the decor of this place, very clean and modern. Reminds me of a nice restaurant in New Orleans. Some of the dishes are more adventurous. Both my daughter and I ordered the halibut, which came with roe. My daughter asked for hers on the side, which I ended up adding to my dish. My halibut was cooked to perfection, but hers was a little overcooked. All in all a very nice, but expensive restaurant near downtown Tucson. read more

Food - not so great but not bad either. There were some highlights, the farm salad was great. The Pork Rack was very mid. Quality of the meats doesn't seem to be the best either. Pretty Disappointed, this place came strongly recommended for their French cuisine. We were promptly greeted by the hostess and seated in the bar, we were not asked if we wanted dining room or bar. We were quickly brought water. The wait staff was in a wine tasting so little effort was made to engage with us. After waiting quite a while for someone to come over my friend stood up to go to the bar for drinks. That is when we were finally greeted by a server. She ordered a Margarita l asked for a Bloody Mary, the server asked if l wanted spicy or not, l said not, it was very spicy and l could not drink it. We ordered an appetizers we were only given the happy hour bar menu, the Calamari, it was good, better than most restaurants. We both had a glass of Malbec, it was delicious! We had high hopes for dinner. My friend ordered the pork I ordered the Sweetbreads and steak dish that was described by the waiter. My friend liked the pork dish. I on the other hand, was served another dish that l did not order, it was cold, tough, raw and had poor flavor, l took only one bite and set it to the side. I was asked if l wanted something else, l declined and ordered dessert, the chocolate cake, it was good, we shared it. I included the receipt. Unsure what the TLC. Charge was for? I think the happy hour Calamari was a lower price on the menu, and certainly the online menus need to be updated. Would l go back? Tucson used to be my old stomping grounds which surprises all my California rat friends as it is a random ass place. When I get sick of my den and the surrounding dumpster offerings, I cram all the stuff I hoarded over the years in a little bag, hop on a train, and settle somewhere that feels right. I decided to come for a visit and joined my rat friend for a Tumamoc Hill hike to watch the sunset. After a big ass hill climb and running away from a couple hawks that wanted us for dinner, we decided just like the hawks that it was time to eat. Agustin Kitchen was right down the road. Here's what we had. Hibiscus Margarita - This was a nice start to the meal and the color was pretty. I loved the tajin salt rim which paired nicely with the refreshing tart margarita. Bucatini Forest Mushroom - I had a special request to add bucatini to this dish as I was craving that pasta - I usually do when I get sweaty and chased around. I loved the madeira butter and egg which made the dish rich and flavorful. You know you can't go wrong with the allium either with the garlicky and onion-y punches in your mouth. My breath stank a bit and that's what I look for in a dish like this. The mushrooms were well-cooked, not too mushy or hard while they melted in my mouth. I do appreciate al dente pasta but it was a bit too al dente but that's okay. Anything is better than mushy ass pasta. Fries - Damn, these are the best fries that my little rat mouth has ever had. They were so crunchy and delicious that they put my rat teeth to work. The garlic aioli was a great pairing. We ordered another bowl of fries because they were so fire. As for the service, I want to comment and say that this is Tucson. Tucson is not a city so the expectations should be lower as the slowness and spaciness matches the pace and style of the town. Orders may be forgotten, it may take forever to get your food or order in, but remember - you are in Tucson. You're not in a hurry. I haven't tried the other food but I can see this place being hit or miss, 3 or 5 stars, depending on what you get. I'm unsure if the price point is worth it so I suggest coming at happy hour when the drinks are cheaper and you can get two bowls of fries, celebrating that you are still alive living in the harsh, dry desert. The thing is the desert don't play - it will take you down if you aren't careful. So drink that margarita, chug gallons of water, and down the fries. Caesar had a funky twist with some cabbage in it...still good. The yellowtail was amazing...another unexpected twist with some prosciutto but delicious...get ready for some spice! I always try to find the positives in any restaurant. I know that currently a lot of places are understaffed. Sadly, the only positive parts of our brunch were the French fries and our cocktails. Even though we had a reservation it took a while for us to be seated and another 10-15 minutes to get our waters. The potatoes that came with the egg Benny were very undercooked and under-seasoned. Even my husband who loves anything with potatoes refused to eat these. Sadly, both the Benny and the BBLT sandwiches came out cold. For the price point we expected much more. We both stared blankly at their very limited menu, for something we could eat. We had driven all the way to try this place, and had wanted to try it for a while. ... Nothing caught our eyes, so we settled on 2 starters, because they featured Barrio bread. The bread was great! (But we already knew it would be) But the odd thing is the fancy butter served with it was overly salty and kinda tasteless besides, and the salmon spread I had, was good, but very one note. While in Tucson for the second time, this place was a must to return to! Our first visit was a little over a year ago, the food was so delicious, we had to go back. It was a great surprise to see Tanya still there, she is amazing and knows her stuff. The menu was a little different from our first time here, so we got quite a few things to try. We started with Barrio Bread (James Beard Award) with whipped butter and sea salt, and the Marinated Olives hot marinated in citrus, garlic and herbs. Next we had the Forest Mushroom in madeira butter, apples, allium, and an egg. We ended with the Mussels and Spanish Chorizo, cooked in white wine, fennel, rocket, and allium. All the items we had were quite amazing and delicious. We also had our 19 year old daughter with us, the got pasta and cheese. Something a little more simple for her taste and they accommodated so nicely. Not only was the food amazing, but the staff was even more so. Everyone was so attentive and made the whole experience that much better. If you find yourself in the Tucson area and looking for something a little more unique, this is for sure a great place to try!
