As a new customer, my experience with Swagelok Phoenix was deeply disappointing, not because of…read moreproduct quality alone, but because of how responsibility is handled when their own recommendations fail. The sales representative I worked with was professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to ask detailed questions about my application and the chemicals involved. I was impressed. They explained that Swagelok does more than just sell parts. They consult on applications, build parts lists, and even assemble systems for customers. As someone unfamiliar with Swagelok's internal policies, this created a clear impression that their recommendations could be relied upon. Based on those discussions, I purchased roughly $2,000 in parts, including approximately $450 in quick disconnects they specifically recommended. While this may be a small order to them, it was our first order. In real use, the chemical in our process caused the quick disconnects to seize and become completely inoperable. We got, at most, two uses before all eight failed. To be very clear, I fully understand and accept that it is ultimately the customer's responsibility to verify that components are compatible with their specific application. That is not my complaint. The issue is that the boundary of Swagelok's accountability was never explained. As a new customer, the way their services were presented strongly implied that their application review and recommendations carried meaningful weight. It was only after the failure that I was told those recommendations come with zero responsibility. When I contacted Swagelok Phoenix expecting help identifying a solution or an alternative, I was told, very matter-of-factly, that they offer no warranty, no responsibility, and no assistance if their recommended parts do not work in your application. This limitation was never disclosed during the sales process and had it been, I would have no problem spending the time to ensure that without a doubt, these parts would be compatible with our process. If Swagelok is going to position themselves as application experts and system builders, that needs to come with transparency about where their responsibility starts and ends. Otherwise, customers should be clearly warned that recommendations are purely advisory and that failures are fully on the buyer. After several follow-up calls, they offered a $50 credit toward purchasing more parts, with the possibility of requesting a $100 credit from the owner. While any gesture is appreciated, it does not meaningfully address the failure of parts that were recommended for this application and is borderline insulting. I hope future customers read this and understand that Swagelok's recommendations are just that. Once a part leaves their store, if it does not work in your application, you are on your own and they will make sure (after you've given them your money), they couldn't care less about whether their products work or not.

I was in desperate need…read moreof the right parts to equip a biosafety cabinet with a vacuum pump and they solved all of my issues! I had been to Home Depot and Ace Hardware countless times to find the right adapters, but to no avail. Then, after downloading the manual for the legacy tissue culture hood that I was working on, I spotted a part identified as Swagelok. Fortunately, Swagelok had a local warehouse/distribution center in my own backyard. They found the right parts, explained to me how to properly fit the hardware together and I finished the job of installing an 1/8 hp vacuum pump as my vacuum source. I like to think I'm a manly man, but I still have a lot to learn when it comes to being handy. Luis at Swagelok provided all of the necessary expertise and hand-holding (figuratively, not literally, mind you) to restore my machismo. Without his help and direction, and the ability to find the EXACT pieces that I needed, I would not have been able to get a crucial component of my work lab functional. I am thrilled to have found Swagelok and so happy they saved my bacon!

I recently bought a chain saw and after reading the guidebook, I did not feel comfortable…read moreassembling the chain and bar then attaching them to the equipment. I drove to Tempe Power Equipment thinking that I would have to leave the chain saw and come back. Within a minute or so of arriving, I was greeted and asked why I'd come in. I told him that I was a bit embarrassed, but I needed the chains aw bits put together so I could safely use it. He took the chain saw; asked for the blade and chain and began assembling it for me as we chatted. He was personable and approachable. I didn't feel 'silly' after all. Within 15 minutes, the chain was in place and I was reaching for my wallet when he said, 'no charge'. He also took the time to give me a few safety tips and where/how to put oil in the little tank and how to read the gauge. I will definitely be going back (and paying) for the chain saw's maintenance (as well as any other suitable stuff I have about the house.
