Got takeout here and it's pretty good. The potato wedges are cooked very nicely and seasoned well. The ingredients are fresh and the chicken was cooked pretty well. A bit pricey but quality is good and the packaging is good as well.

It was such a nice day so I had lunch at Trinity Bellwoods Park. I headed to Agora Greek Market & Cafe, which is across from the park on Queen Street W, and picked up something to eat. I got a Chicken & Potato Souvla Box (grilled marinated chicken, lemon roasted potatoes and grilled pita; served with house Tzatziki). A tasty relaxing lunch sitting at a picnic table at the park!

I really really wanted to give a higher rating and maybe I will when I try more items...but it's a 3 for now. When I first heard this place was opening I had to get there as soon as I could! New Greek bakery?! I'm there! I may not be Greek but I know good Greek food. My boyfriend is Greek and I've been to Greece 3 times in the past 5 years. So I know a thing or two. I was so excited to try the bougatsa because it's my fave Greek pastry. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed with Agora's version. For some reason, perhaps for innovative reasons? They use rose water in their bougatsa. Whyyyyy?? I literally could not finish it because it tasted like face products. Ladies (and gents), you know Mario Badescu's rose water toner? YES. It tastes exactly like that. The taste is so strong, it was nothing like a traditional bougatsa. Don't get me wrong, others might like this. Like maybe those that like rose flavoured macarons. However, I like my bougatsa traditional. I do have to say that the phyllo pastry was so buttery and melt in your mouth. It was so fresh tasting but then I would have the after taste of the rose water and all those buttery dreams would disappear. I had a bite of the baklava and it was pretty decent. I couldn't eat more than a bite cuz I was stuffed but it was hella honey soaked. Which leads me to my next issue. They defs need to get some plastic boxes or any box so they can package the baklava better. It was so soaked in honey that a pile of honey was building up at the bottom of the bag. You can see how this is an issue. It's sticky and wet and hard to deal with. Perhaps something to think about. I didn't have any of the koulouri but my boyfriend and his brother did. It's his brother's fave and I can't tell you how many times he picks one up from the street vendors when we are in Greece. I asked them how they were and if it was comparable. They said these were a bit softer and they preferred it more crunchy like the ones the street vendors sell. I can see how these are more softer as they're fresher. That was all I got for this trip but I hope to try more of their "hot foods" next time. Specifically the moussaka and tiropita. Oh and the loukoumades! So yes, there will be a next time!

Amazing new addition to the Queen West, Trinity Bellwoods strip, and my new go-to for great Greek fare in the area. This is a tastefully done "market & kafe" with all your favourite Greek treats. What it isn't is a souvlaki shop. No meats here, from what I could tell. I had the spinach spanakopita and the Greek salad. Both were great. The flaky, buttery layers of dough crumble under your top fingers as you lift the spanakopita, but the bottom stays dense in a deeply satisfying way. Unlike some spanakopitas they use salt sparingly. The feta does the work here, alongside the spinach. The salad contrasted with this nicely - fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, feta, oregano, and a tapenade made it a Greek salad as good as any I've had in great Greek restaurants. The olive oil based dressing is served on the side. I skipped it, as the spanakopita did the trick. I also got to try their dips at the register, served with a sort of sesame bagel which I assume is also Greek. The dips were phenomenal. My favourite was the (get ready for it) Melizanosalata, a eggplant based dip with honey and walnut. Really enjoyed discovering this place. Will definitely be back.

seriously though how good does this salad look?

Okay, so. You are going to read this review and think "Pfft, the owner totally wrote this." It's not the case. I happen to live in the neighbourhood and was looking for somewhere to have a coffee this morning and stumbled across this gem. It is hard to overstate my excitement about the opening of this place. FINALLY. REAL (affordable) GREEK FOOD IN TORONTO!!!! (No offence, Greek & Co, but your food is overpriced and not that great and apparently you treat your workers like shit, so, yeah, no.) Apparently this place is run by the same people who own Mamakas, the delicious but pricey and always-jammed Greek restaurant on Ossington. I was super excited when it opened because it meant decent, authentic Greek food, but most of the time I can't even get a reservation and when I do it means dropping like a hundred bucks for dinner. This, on the other hand, is totally affordable, REAL Greek food. Not Danforth mystery meat and fries in pita bread. Not dried out, flavourless, chicken-on-a-stick, or $18 "souvlaki dinners" that are mostly potatoes and rice. We are talking fresh, flavoursome, healthy, vegetable-heavy, DELICIOUS Greek food. I'm talking about briam (eggplant tomato stew), topped off with creamy salty feta. Incredible taramasalata (cod roe) dip, whipped to light, salty, tangy perfection (with only five ingredients! For only seven bucks for a huge tub!). REAL melizanosalata (roasted eggplant dip)--not that mayonnaise-based crap you get at Loblaws. And a red pepper and feta dip to die for. Lots of other deli items to go--olives, tomato sauce, octopus salad, etc etc. Everything is made in house, including the pillowy pita bread. (I love the previous reviewer's description--"your own clouds in a bag." Perfect!) They also have wifi and great coffee, and some seating. But it's mostly a takeout joint. My new #1 favourite for Trinity-Bellwoods picnics. I foresee a loooooot of Greek food in my future. This is going to be my Big Fat Greek Summer!

Very solid place that one probably had a similar experience if they went there 20 years ago…read more I had the moussaka and it was just what I wanted. The rice was actually a lot better than I expected. I know it's just a side, but rice at times from other Greek places isn't that great, and this was much better. My wife had the mix grill plate, and I helped. She absolutely loved the lamb. It was largely over the quality and the prep was fairly standard, but there's nothing wrong with that. The other parts didn't jump out, but were still perfectly good. The service was very attentive.

Having had moussaka ($33.95) at more chain-like Greek restaurants, Pantheon's version is lighter…read moreand fresher tasting. The potato layer feels fluffy and sandwiches thinly sliced eggplant, so the aubergine is rather pronounced. The ground beef mixture wasn't overly spiced and even the bechamel sauce was a thin layer, so it toasts the top but doesn't saturate the slice. Ultimately, it's not heavy so you could get through a full portion. A flaming saganaki ($19.95), the pan fried kefalotiri cheese, is a staple in Canadian Greek restaurants. It seems touristy to order but there's something endearing about setting a piece of cheese on fire and yelling "opa"! For me, the dish is more for the atmosphere than taste. Pantheon pan fries the cheese well, so it develops a crust even prior to flambeeing and serves it as a thick gooey slice. If only the accompanying bread wasn't so dry and mealy, a good saganaki calls for a better complement. Almost all their mains arrive with a sizeable Greek side salad that's smartly served first containing ample amounts of crumbled feta and some tomato, cucumbers, and onion over romaine. Their dressing is different, tamer and while still acidic there's a sweetness to it. Not sure, but perhaps they use a red wine vinegar and then blend the ingredients together so it's better combined? With the fishkebob souvlaki ($36.95) I was expecting fish, but it's really a seafood kebob containing shrimp, calamari and mushroom. It's cooked well with a faint grilled aroma, very tender, and lightly salted. Sadly, my steamed vegetables were merely carrots and didn't have the delicious garlicky green beans included on my friends' plates. Luckily, there was plenty with the moussaka so I could augment mine. At least there was an ample portion of roasted lemon potatoes that were soft and fluffy with a refreshing pronounced citrus finish. Pantheon doesn't skimp on the lamb chops that arrive with the entrée. And if you can't decide on what protein you'd like, their menu also offers some as add-ons. The lamb chop by the piece ($11.95) was bit gamier than I'd like but was cooked to a perfect medium doneness. A complimentary honey cake arrives for the table and is almost like having baklava in cake form. Just watch out, as the moist crumbly cake is difficult to pick up with a fork. Don't waste a bit of this delicious dessert, just use your fingers.

Milo's Greek Restaurant has been in its Pickering location forever. It was here when I moved to…read morePickering, 25 years ago, and it has been ages since I've been back. Me and some family members were in the area, and decided to give it a try. We were greeted and seated promptly and then, for the longest time ... nothing. As it turned out, we'd spend a lot longer at this restaurant than we had anticipated. After about 20 minutes, a kind and apparently exhausted waitress appeared, so we ordered drinks and saganaki to start. 10 minutes later, our drinks appeared, and we ordered our main courses then. Although the menu gave prices for wine by the glass, half litre or bottle, we were told that they don't have enough wine to offer any more than a glass at a time. Strange, and unexpected. Eventually, the saganaki (Greek flaming cheese) arrived, and it was really, really good - a generous triangle of grilled, flaming cheese, easily split between the three of us. It was served with some odd bread, which resembled buttered and toasted hot dog or burger buns. This helped take the edge off our hunger as we waited for our main course. And waited. Looking at the time, I noticed that we had already spent over 60 minutes in the restaurant, which was extremely chilly on a cold winter's evening. Many customers, including us, wore their coats throughout the evening. Apparently, the restaurant dining area is heated only by two electric fire places. Our waitress came out and let us know that we had to wait because my daughter's order of octopus was taking a while. At this point, we had already committed to being here, so we had no choice but to see it through. Finally, the food came out. My daughter's octopus was, sadly, overcooked and tough, but still tasty, and the lemon roasted potatoes were excellent. My husband's roasted lamb did not seem like it was prepared as a roast, as there was no browning or roast] flavor, but seemed to have been prepared in a pressure cooker or slow cooker. I had ordered the Moussaka, and had high expectations, based on my memory of Milo's creamy, eggplant-filled, nicely seasoned Moussaka of my distant, long-ago previous visit. However, my portion of Moussaka had the oddest texture: rather mushy and grainy. The well-seasoned, savory tasting ground beef of my memories had now been transformed into a rather average-tasting ground beef mixture that would have been equally at home in a sloppy joe. And I could not find an eggplant in the casserole at all ... well, maybe it had somehow been reduced to such mushiness that it lost it's eggplant quality, but I could swear that it was missing. It was all edible food, though, but not up to our expectations. I hate to give any place a lowly, two-star review. I had hoped for much more, because there is so much about Milo's to raise one's hopes: it's not a big chain, but locally, family-run; it has an appealing and timeless Mediterranean decor; and the menu offers many interesting Greek choices. A few small changes would be an upgrade: better bread, some additional staff and a few space heaters would be a good start. Milo's is the type of restaurant that I would love to support, but I've read enough reviews with similar observations that I am unlikely to return.

It was really hard to flag down our waitress as she never made eye contact towards our table, so my friend had an empty drink for 20min. The food was good once it came out though. It was a really nice spot for a special night... cozy, welcoming, and not overly loud. We enjoyed everything we ordered, but the saganaki was definitely the standout. The wait staff brought it out and poured a shot of liquor over the cheese before lighting it on fire at the table, which added a fun touch without feeling gimmicky. Beyond the presentation, the cheese itself was excellent... crisp on the outside, warm and soft inside, and really well seasoned. Easily something I'd come back for. The mango ginger spritz was light and refreshing, not too sweet, the Australian lamb chops were cooked nicely, tender, and full of flavor without being overly heavy. We ended the perfect night with baklava and vanilla ice cream. It was flaky, just sweet enough to be shared between us. Portions weren't huge, but we left feeling content. We did have to make a reservation well in advance, which I'd definitely recommend. Prices feel appropriate for a special occasion rather than an everyday dinner. The salad will forever have too much dressing and will be the unhealthiest thing but the souvlaki here was honestly the most shocking thing. Mind you I have not been in six and a half or seven years so don't take my word for it, but for a place to be around this long and still have loyal customers - they're really doing something right, it's not just sheer luck so give it a go! Nice! Greek Metaxa 7-star (years aged, 80 proof) brandy is so expensive (now: US$35/750mL imported, $21-32 in Greece; 1974: $7-10), they use Russian brandy for the saganaki (sad, I know! Greece inflation has varied from -4.6 (2013) to +26.6% (1974), averaging 7.8%/yr, with cumulative increase 1974-2026 of 6.75x, so a 3x increase in the price of Metaxa 7-star seems like a deal!). I mentioned to the server that the Horiatiki salad was the best I've had since living Greece! Greek restaurants where I'm from (San Diego, California) use Roma tomato, small feta crumbles (so little feta it's just "feh", not imported from Greece), no oregano, cheap olive oil.
