Had a great experience with Steve from AGL. Steve takes the time to educate you from the beginning so that even if you don't go with him, you can make an informed decision. His crew is diligent and does a great job cleaning up. Very professional and respectful. Jazmine is also great on the administrative side. Very responsive and easy to talk to. I love supporting local businesses and Steve has been in the South Bay for many years. Give them a call!

    Done! And a day early!

Before we could install solar panels, we had to change out our 34-year-old roof. AGL Roofing did a nice job at my brother's house, so I gave owner Steve Shepard a call. He definitely knew what he was talking about, letting me know how it was important to have the posts for the panels installed first (instead of punching through the new roof), talked about the quality of different roofing material, and the importance of a roof fan. On top of it, he offered the best price! It was supposed to be a three (3) day job. All of the old roof was removed on a Monday, all of the new roof was done by Tuesday. Yes, they finished a day early! Ivan and his crew were efficient and thorough. They even spray painted all of the vents to match the color of the roof! Steve also coordinated nicely with our solar company, making sure we had the right kind of posts installed in a timely manner. He even had the solar company choose an alternate post for the panels to ensure we wouldn't deal with any leaking. Of course, I'll know in 10 years or so if the roof is reliable over time, but my brother's house looks good and so does our house. My bet is we'll be just fine. I guess I have to give props to my younger sibling. It's not easy to do.

When my roof started leaking, I called American Roofmasters to come fix. Unfortunately my roof was 32 years old so they encouraged me to spend the money on a new roof and said AGL was the best company they know for shingle roofs in the South Bay. AGL coincidentally replaced the roof on my last townhome in Redondo so I felt comfortable reaching out to them. Steve Shepard was very responsive, gave me a fair estimate, then scheduled the roof installation about a month later. While he said it would take three days, his workers actually completed it in two days and the final bill ended up being only $200 more than the estimate! He also sent me pictures of my old roof damage as well as the new roof. I highly recommend AGL!

I met Steve 7 years ago for a reroofing estimate. At the time he told me that our roof would be okay for a few more years as long as we put a metal cap on the vent. I liked his honesty, so kept his information. This time we noticed a leak from the series of heavy rains so it was time for us. Since Steve had our roof footage already, getting a re-quote was a breeze. After getting 3 more quotes, Steve's was at a mid range but we decided to go with him because of again his business ethics, numerous number of referrals, and the quality materials he uses. The crew worked delligently which made the completion sooner than expected. There was an English speaking guy, but they are on top of the roof most of the time, so what helped me most was the communication with the office. Jazmine was quick to answer calls and very courteous & efficient to relay the messages to the crew leader for me. Our roof looks beautiful! Would highly recommend AGL. Thank you, Steve & Jazmine!

Top half is our 20+ year old aging roof, and the bottom is our brand new AGL roof.

Steve the owner is one of those rare contractors that educates and teaches prospective clients. Not only did he inform us about the various products that go into a new roof, but also educated us about the contracting business in general and what to watch for, so we don't get taken advantage of. His team does great work, replacing the old-fashioned scalloped front fascia board with a cleaner looking straight fascia. He also added additional dormer vents. Pricing was reasonable, but more importantly, the roof was done right. Case in point was last winter 2018 with the incredible amount of rain we had, and not a single problem - so glad AGL completed our roof at the right time!

i live in Old Torrance and wanted a Roofer that would have experience with Craftsman homes. I received 3 quotes and AGL was in the middle. With AGL better materials are included in the quote - Do your detailed comparisons: you get what you pay for. Steve Shepard, the owner came out to give the quote, he studied the outside then went atop for measurements. I asked my garage be included in the quote and he added it as an option. I wasn't pressured and he suggested I look at other houses in the area his crew completed. The AGL crew was a tight and well run unit, experience and talented members working with a grunt or two to assist. Steve would check on them often and I would be there as well because I needed to learn what was being done and offer up any concerns that needed to be addressed. As a homeowner it is your job to trust but verify so I was onsite 90% of the time. One concern was the facia corners because on a Craftsman home they are mitered together and the facia is cut in sharp angles, while modern homes are made with simple boxed corners. See the pictures of the great job they did on the corners. Concern two was damaging the roof during the stripping down of the old one but the AGL crew did a fine job and they didn't destroy any pieces therefore saving me repairs costs. They also did a fine job cleaning up the area around my house. The stripping off of the old roof can uncover some unknown damage and this will mostly be around the vents and areas where bugs can enter. The AGL crew showed me the damaged areas, and did a great job repairing only what was necessary. See my pictures. They did the job in July of 2013, so I wanted to include reviews on how it handled rainy weather but we haven't had much rain in over a year, but it has done a great job with what little rain we had while remaining new looking, and thats what AGL stands for, A Great Looking roof.

Received a call that someone would come to our home Friday, May 8th at 8 am. I received a text from an employee named Justin describing his background and that he would be here at 8 am on Friday. At 9 am I texted him to ask his whereabouts. No answer. I advised him we would be walking the dog and to text me when he was arriving. Justin never returned my texts nor did he show up. The owner Sergio showed up at 10 am. I advised him Justin never contacted me back. Apparently, there was a call in so Justin was needed to do a job but Justin never bothered to inform us. Sergio said the company has a 2 hour window for any estimate appointments. This detail was not on the mail I was sent saying the appoitnment was at 8 am. I told Sergio I just wanted the ponding to be sprayed and that I would apply the 2 coats of elastomeric myself. To me, it felt like he was using scare tactics and saying the job required a full crew. He said all of the solar panels needed to be covered which made sense to me. I have bought and sold several homes and have had rentals. I understand the work required to do a job. To me, it would take approximately 2 to 2.5 hours tops to spray foam the areas that needed to be raised just a few inches. We agreed the total sqaure footage to be spray a few inches was approximately 500 square feet. He said he needed the weekend to come up with an estimate because he had softball over the weekend. People have socials lives. I get it. To me, based on the work required and the amount of spray foam needed, I felt an appropriate estimate would be $2000 tops. I asked him off the top of his head what a rough quote would be, he said between $5000 and $7000. Well, it is Friday and no call, no email, no text and no quote. Again, I felt he was trying to scare me as I suspect he did not understand my knowledge base. You have a choice in picking a contractor in doing roof repair. Would you pick a contractor whose employees do not show up, someone finally shows up 2 hours late, claims there is a 2 hour window, verbally quotes a ridiculous amount, says a written estimate is coming 3 says later, then fails to sent a quote or any form of communication a week later?

I really wanted to give this company 5 stars because of Jose, the foreman. He was amazing to work with, attentative, and prompt. Salt of the earth! Carlos, the owner, was also amazing, prompt, straightforward, knowledgeable. They did an amazing job on my roof. Roof itself 5/5. No complaints. However, I do believe the job and the service itself is 3 stars. Not bad but not amazing. I ended up walking away from this experience just kind of meh but wanted to share my honest thoughts so it'll help others. That being said, there were a couple hiccups that happened along the way. No one contacted me prior to the day of my start date/roof removal. The office manager kind of chucked it as the person who supposed to let me know was out sick. They require someone be home to sign off on the work so not letting me know seemed off.. Not a peep about what time theyll be arriving, what to expect. Etc. Yes, they walk you through this process during quotation but thats about 4 to 6 weeks out before the actual day. They also didnt let me know which day or what time. I had to reach out myself multiple times. The team is quick but I also think their speed leaves them a bit careless. After they were done, I was left with a patched ceiling (beautifully patched but I feel like shouldn't have happened in the first place), kitchen/outdoor light that no longer works, loose recessed lighting,, and plumbing leak. They also let you know and disclose that things may break since theres pressure on the roof. Its in the contract but it highlights loose items and such... but realistically, not electrical going out or plumbing leaks based on what ive learned from others and neighbors. I also had my plumbing inspected and redone in September 2024. Now, im not saying they were at fault and that theyre to blame. It could just be my luck that it happened exactly on the day they were up on my roof after living here over a year. Also, very minor but there were trash left around that my inspector found. They were accomodating on making things right although they started to be a little short with me towards the end. I really considered referring them to other friends who needed their roofing done but not sure if my confidence is there if theyll be spending $$$ for an ok experience.

I initially contacted J&S because they handle both roofing and gutter installation, and their reviews were consistently positive. After meeting Serafin, I felt confident that I made the right choice. I also loved hearing that this is a family business--started by his father and now run by three brothers, which really speaks to their pride and integrity in their work.
