This place just isn't any good. Sub-par food and a complete lack of investment from the staff all around.
My first review of this place was removed, due to lack of my overall experience.
Admittedly, it was a bit over-reactionary. Forgive me for being so incensed following my poor experience.
I was also fuming after looking at other negative reviews and seeing Brian's post about the owner/manager's response. I'm sure I'll get the same, unless the post is just removed again. Quite the business savvy, removing the negative reviews...
My experience involved:
-Arrived on a pleasant June afternoon, needing to fill up before a lengthy drive across the state.
- I have dined at a number of places in the Hudson area, never frequenting this particular establishment.
- My date and I sat down and were promptly ignored for almost 10 minutes. We saw a number of staff, none of whom dared venture our way. Finally, a girl (whose name I did not catch) asked if we had already been helped. Seemed to be quite disappointed to discover that we had not, and now we were under her care.
- It wasn't busy. Not at all. You'd think that would translate to more attention. You'd be wrong.
- We ordered waters (mine with lemon) and a Diet Coke. I didn't get a lemon. Standard. You'll get another star when I get my lemon. Fair trade.
- We ordered burgers. BBC and the California. Read the reviews on the burgers, assumed you can't go wrong with a burger.
- Apparently you can go wrong with a burger. I guess "dry" is the word that most accurately describes the meat. The flavor was bland. You'd think the toppings and accoutrement would have added something, but it was like eating with a plugged nose. Nothing about the meal offended us outright, but that's the issue. It was a big chunk of meh. I expected better.
- Forgot to ask food-runner for lemon. My mistake, I'll ask when someone comes to check on our meal. Usually after the first bite or so.
- Nobody checked on our meal. My water sat empty for half the meal. Alas. Nothing to wash away the meh.
- A different server noticed our emptyish plates and offered to bring our check. Thanks, doll. Also offered to refill the drinks. Too late, doll.
- No check! Sitting in misery for what felt like an hour, but in reality was probably 5ish minutes. Does this mean we don't have to pay?
- Never saw server #1 at our table again. Whether she wasn't a waitress, or there was a shift change, or maybe she was kidnapped...?
- The check arrived, finally. We left a proportionate tip, though I have no idea who it actually went to/was distributed between. And we got out of there. Hopefully never to have to return again.
So there it is, Paul. Paul is the owner. I'm assuming he is the reason my first post was removed, along with the inclusion of censored swear words, pulled directly from his response to another patron. You can see his response in the other negative review, (Brian, I believe?) and he's had a smattering of responses to some of the other reviews I've seen. I fear invoking your full, preferred "P F R" moniker will cause this post to be removed once again. Look man, if you didn't take things so far, I wouldn't have had to respond in kind. It makes me look petty, like I'm attacking you and your fragile ego. And maybe that's exactly what's happening. But it should serve as a wake-up call to do better. To be better. You have better in you.
This is a full work-up of my experience, as to why I deemed this establishment worthy of 1 whole star. It is because the food was not near good enough to make up for the lack of service in getting said food.
TL:DR - Food was the definition of "meh," service virtually non-existent. There are better options. Eat there instead. read more
