Decided to take a day trip to Wisconsin and stopped by Pier 500. What a great little spot in Hudson! The fried cheese curds were my favorite and worth a trip on their own. I also tried the beer cheese soup, walleye sandwich and the rotisserie chicken sandwich. All great options. The beer cheese soup had pieces of popcorn in it. I've never had beer cheese soup so don't know if that's normal but I like the texture it gave to the soup. As for the sandwiches, I can see why they're both popular options! Great flavor! I was stuffed by pushed myself to finish because the food was just that good! My partner and I had no issues with service however the people next to us ended up leaving when their server forgot to put in their order. Mistakes happen and I wouldn't hold that against them. The food is beautifully presented the steak salad, and the walleye fish taco plate was superb. The pomegranate drink nonalcoholic is very tasty with ginger root beer. Hello! Pier 500 is one of my absolute favorite places to eat in Hudson. The waitress was lovely and funny. The food came out fast and the steak was the bomb! We stopped here on our way back from the cities because they had a really nice brunch menu. We did make a reservation but it was not needed. It was chilly so we sat inside and the atmosphere did not disappoint. The whole place was done in wood and jewel tones. We all ordered breakfast items. My mom had the French toast and the pieces were thick! It was good. One person had the Belgium waffle and the cream looked homemade. I came here for a business meeting. The cheese curds were some of the best I've had as an appetizer. For the main course, I was in the mood for prime rib. Have eaten here many times for dine in and take out and both have been delicious! If you take out, there are spaces right in the front where you can pull up, call and they will bring your order out. This is appreciated because even though there is a pay municipal lot next door, it is often full. If you dine in, the patio is AMAZING in the summer and the dining room is cozy in the winter. Food has been consistently good with some highlights being the green bean appetizer, the walleye and the rotisserie chicken. They have gluten free pasta available if you are interested in any of their pasta options, but many items on the menu just either are, or can be made, gluten free. The interior space is accessible to those using mobility equipment, but actually getting in takes a little work. The immediately obvious entrances are all steps, and you need to go around the side to get in without stairs. Would highly recommended dining here! read more

Great breakfast/brunch spot with plenty of seating for small and large groups alike! The ham and cheese omelet was a good portion, but I will say the hash browns were my favorite. They were crispy on the outside, and cheesy on the inside for a nice surprise. You can always make a reservation ahead of time which was what we did, and were seated right away. There is parking on the street, or there was a lot nearby for the local shops nearby. You can also enjoy a nice walk down the pier afterwards as well if the weather is nice. read more

We went to Pier 500 for lunch on a Thursday. It's definitely the older crowd at lunch time. Relaxing none the less. We grabbed a table outside with a nice view of the river. I ordered the walleye fish sandwich with fries. My hubby ordered the chicken pot pie and my daughter ordered pasta with green beans (they do have a kids menu). No complaints from anyone. It's funny I would come here a long time ago just to have drinks with colleagues after work. The sad thing is we never had much to eat so I didn't know what to think when we visited. We were trying to make it there last summer but it was always packed and parking was challenging. However, my fiance and I decided to come earlier in the day and we arrived we were happy that the parking lot was pretty empty and we got a great parking spot. So when we arrived it was pretty slow inside, not a lot of patrons inside. I've always loved how nice it is on the inside, and you can see the rotisserie going full of chickens. Bathrooms are always clean and the restaurant. I do not remember our servers name but she was a younger gal. She was helpful, friendly, and kind. We had some great cheese curds and shrimp chowder for appetizers, then I got the rotisserie chicken for my entrée which was juicy and flavorful, although I did get two breast parts. Phenomenal restaurant with great service, food, and location. My friends and I arrived on a beautiful weather day so we elected to eat outside. Their outdoor eating deck is huge and showcases beautiful views of the nearby river. I popped inside to take a look and found the interior elegant. This is a great atmosphere to eat and meet with friends it reminds me of an upscale version of Houlihan's. The dark wood finishes and smell of mesquite wood filled every corner of the establishment and lended itself to a sophisticated feel. We found the service to be accommodating and speedy. This restaurant was quite busy especially on the outside patio yet the kitchen was steady churning out food. The food was excellent as well. I ordered the Lobster Mac n' Cheese which I found to be an extremely large and rich portion. Plenty of lobster with perfectly cooked noodles in a very rich n creamy sauce. I also tried the fried pickles and loved the accompanying sauce. The French Onion soup was excellent. It was very cheesy and quite creamy. Creamier than I am used to but very tasty. I read in recommendations that the chicken was the start of the party. So I ordered one I have chicken with mashed potato and salad as well as lobster bisque. The chicken head smoked taste and this is why I ordered it because we eat smoked meat but not smoked chicken. It was a lovely flavor And I believe the staff on purpose did not bring salt or pepper at the beginning but they came to ask us if we want some after we started eating and I told her we are fine it's just perfect. Kudos to the chef. Plenty of cheap paid parking around the place. I chose to sit next to the road so my wife and I can enjoy the road runners and the river boaters. Service was good and the small igloo was cute and clean. But I probably won't go back for the food. Everything that was on the Fillet plate was straight up bland. The only salty part of the food was the asparagus and it was super salty af! For the Cajun Pasta, I did not expect it to be super sweet. Cajun is supposed to have a little spice in it but there was no spice at all, just a very sweet pasta. Kind of ruined it for me. I feel like it wasn't worth it to get food here. This was my 3rd time here. Excellent Lobster Bisque. My grilled meatloaf was disappointing. Too spicy (not sure if it was the gravy?). My friend's parmesan-crusted walleye was the better choice. Ordered the house made grilled meat loaf. Don't usually go for that, but I envisioned a loaf shaped slice of meatloaf with the Marsala drizzle on top. I got a Sam's club meat puck. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't good. Mashed potatoes and broccoli were good, but it was hard to recover from the meat puck. Dunno if the local gas and sip closed shop and they got a deal on meatloaf sandwiches and decided to recycle or what. If there is proof of life of someone back in the kitchen making meat pucks, I will edit the review. If that's the case, get a different mold for them because this just makes me feel like I'm at a barbecue where the person just didn't feel like springing for the hamburger to make actual burgers, but got the Walmart good for eternity meat product burgers instead. read more

It was a perfect day for outdoor dining across from the St. Croix River where we met another couple for lunch. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl with neatly arranged "almond island" rice, carrots, cucumbers, edamame, radishes, avocado, and ginger wasabi dressing. When it an arrived, it was an ample portion, and I couldn't see the dressing, but our server assured me it was in there. I discovered that they pour the dressing on the bottom and cover it with arugula lettuce then placed the other veggies and tuna on top of that. I wouldn't have prepared it that way because I had to stir it all together to get the dressing mixed in. I also wouldn't have ordered this salad knowing it had arugula, which is not traditional, and a variety I don't like because it has a funky flavor that does not complement the other ingredients. I did not taste the ginger or wasabi in the dressing so for these reasons, it was slightly disappointing, however the tuna was quite fresh! read more

Our server was kind & helpful, we just didn't see much of them. What we had: --Huevos Ranchero: I was surprised that this was served with tortillas on the side, I've never had it that way before. However, it was delicious! It reminded me of chili with some added flair; I'd give it a 4.5/5 --Eggs Benedict: This one was disappointing. There wasn't a ton of flavor, the hollandaise was skimpy, all we could really taste was the English muffin (which was good, but shouldn't be the star of the dish). Absolutely love this place!! Not our first time here but they never disappoint. Parking is ok, smaller parking lot but plenty of cheap on street parking. They have a beautiful bar for those times you just want to grab a drink. We had a very nice booth in the back, restaurant was not too loud and we could hear our own conversation. My wife and I shared the walleye sandwich and the rotisserie chicken sandwich. The food was good as always and the drinks really hit the spot, I mean they have Spotted Cow on tap!! We didn't have any desert this time but if your up for something sweet, take a trip to Knokes Candy Shop just up the hill. Our server was super nice and I love how everyone had a Christmas themed sweater on for the holiday. Inside the igloo was nice and cozy and really decked out compared to the other igloos that Ive been to. Each igloo had a different color theme, I love the time and creativity spent on each igloo. What a pretty spot with an amazing view of the water and the HUDSON sign near the riverfront. Great patio area, but after getting heated on our river walk, the kiddos begged for some sweet, sweet air conditioning. My brother lives in town and frequents Pier 500, saying that they recently renovated to create swanky velveteen seating areas and a lounge towards the front hostess stand. If you want to sit outside, there is a host stand there. Prefer indoors, keep walking to the next stand inside. The building is deceivingly large and our party of 7 was seated immediately on a Thursday during prime lunch hours. We ordered the curd burger, meatloaf sandwich, roasted turkey club, and kids meals of burgers, chicken, and mac and cheese. The adult meals were great! Hubby frequently orders burgers when we go out and said this is the best burger he's ever had. HUGE praise from a burger-head. The meatloaf was a tad overcooked, but the demi glaze, whipped potatoes, and texture of the onion strings and tomatoes livened it up. I ended up pushing the bread underneath aside, as it was more of an accessory than necessity. We split salt and vinegar fries. Yes. Just...yes. My brother said he almost always gets the turkey club, as it is home roasted and hand-cut turkey that reminds him of Thanksgiving. The kids meals were okay. Note that the mac and cheese looks like a big pile of Kraft. No pizzazz or side to liven it up, if that matters to you or your kiddo. Their meals were perfectly kid-sized/miniaturized, except for the price. This place is fairly pricey, especially for lunch, but that's to be expected on the riverfront. Group of us girls had just seen a play at the Phipps theatre and were hungry! Very pleasant atmosphere and cute "igloo" like tables outdoors. We dined indoors. The hostess was very accommodating as we needed to have an electrical connection for oxygen. Our waiter was amazing! Very nice and friendly and knowledgeable about the food and beverages. I ordered the queen cut prime rib. It was accompanied with house made garlic mashed potatoes and cranberry almond green beans. It was ok. Meat did not have much flavor and the au jus was missing. The sides were very flavorful. Green beans were perfectly done, slight crispness and fresh flavor. My friend ordered the Parmesan crusted walleye. Talk about perfection. Light, flakey and the crust had a great crunch. I'm not much of a fish person, however if I go back, this is what I will order. The Lobster Mac&Cheese came out in a nice size bowl.
