I have been to Pier 500 a couple times now and have loved every bit of my time here! Such a great spot in Hudson for great food. Also, the place smells like rotisserie chicken and make you hungry the second you come thru the door. We had a family lunch here, everyone loved their food. We started with some Brie bites that were so good they were gone instantly! I also got some lavender lemonade with lunch, very good and sweet. The minute chicken here is so so good. Like I get this almost every time I come here. The chicken raspberry salad is also great. Others got the steak yum yum bowl and the Cajun walleye tacos, both said they were very impressed and satisfied! Food here come out very fast, they got a good crew here working great together. The minute chicken was the star of the show, just order it and thank me later. The walleye was great with a homemade tasting tarter sauce, but could've been livened up a bit on the sides. The Mac n cheese was a bit underwhelming, great flavor, but on the drier side and not saucy enough for any of our likings. The Mediterranean angel hair was a lighter dish with good flavors, but I would like to see it served with a different noodle that can really capture the flavor as there are some conflicting textures with the angel hair for me. I was very tempted to try the banana cream pie or key lime pie desserts, but decided not to solely based on price ($10 for a dessert seems excessive to me). I love this restaurant. The Parmesan Crusted Walleye is absolutely amazing and my go to dish every time I dine there. It is extremely busy on the weekends. They have pation dining in the summer and igloo dining on the patio during the Winter months. Service is great and prices are reasonable in my opinion. It's a great restaurant. read more

Two visits for dinner. The server (Hannah) was great, as was the cocktail of the week (a blackberry bourbon mule). Sat at a 2-top in the bar area, no issues. Ordered the meatloaf, mashed taters and broccoli one night. It looked and tasted like a Swanson TV dinner, WAY too much salt. Ordered the prime rib on night two. VERY crowded on prime rib night. Requested medium rare, it was rare. Green beans were good and the taters weren't too salty. I'll be back in town next week, 50/50 chance I might go there again. read more

My husband and I, along with another couple, recently had lunch at Pier 500. It was a coolish day, but still warm enough to sit outside. The hostess seated us with a smile and we proceeded to check out the menu while admiring the view. When our server arrived to take our order, the atmosphere changed. The server was snotty and condescending, reluctantly answering our questions and acting like we were silly to ask. After our food arrived and our dining companion realized she had received the wrong soup, the server was defensive about the mistake. We ate in a private igloo as part of my wife's birthday. We had an overall good meal, especially considering the unique nature of the dining experience, with just a few "minuses." Here's a rundown: Ambiance 5/5: We loved the actual igloo. Our 4-person igloo was definitely both spacious and cozy, extremely clean (it seems they cleaned it right before we arrived), and tastefully appointed. We definitely appreciated the heater, although it was somewhat warm outside while we were dining (mid-30's), so I wonder how the igloo would feel on a 10 degree or colder evening. Service 5/5: Excellent: very attentive and friendly but not overbearing, everything came out extremely quickly, and empty plates were picked up right away. The one suggestion I would offer (not a minus, just a suggestion) would be to at least ask diners in private igloos if they want their server to wear a mask; some people are probably reserving the igloos for health reasons. Food 4/5: Overall good and huge portions. The starter salad was great but the starter soup was just ok. The prime rib and sides were phenomenal, the walleye and sides were good on the "surf and turf," but the sirloin steak was cooked pretty unevenly; part of it was well done and tough, the other part was medium as ordered. I'd ask them to keep an eye on that. Drinks 2/5: The weakest part of the evening. There's a reason that high end bars and restaurants don't use small, watery ice cubes for their cocktails: the drinks become watered down extremely quickly, which is exactly what happened with both of our cocktails. My old fashioned tasted like it had been sitting around for 15 minutes and half of the ice had melted; my wife's white russian was the same way. I'd highly suggest they invest in larger ice cube makers that keep the ice frozen until it's added to cocktails to prevent this. We would recommend that diners stick to beer and/or wine here and skipping the cocktails. This experience was not cheap, about $75 a person including tax and tip, but worth it for sure (minus the cocktails). read more

Service was fine. The food? Meh. I ordered the walleye cakes eggs Benedict. The English muffin was raw and extremely dry. It wasn't even slightly toasted with a little bit of butter. The walleye was very indistinguishable. If you're making a fish cake, there needs to be some kind of seasoning. It was walleye and mayonnaise. No salt, paprika, flavor, nothing. Walleye is a white fish which needs help in the flavor department. No onion, celery, carrots, nothing. Nothing that stood out to even let me know, hey you're eating a fish cake. Everything was lacking salt, and there were no salt shakers on the tables to be found. The hash brown casserole was crying for some salt or seasonings. I probably wouldn't eat here again for their regular brunch. read more

We were seated on the patio with a view of the St Croix through the trees. Gracia was our waitress and what a joy she was! Bright, personable and with a great smile. The day started getting better. Every time we've been here, we have been greeted with good service and very amicable staff. Having small kids and going to a restaurant we expect the staff to roll their eyes at the sight of "another family with little kids" but not here. They welcomed us and servers have always been very attentive and accommodating. Food is always delicious and we love going here when we can. I would definitely recommend going here if you're looking for delicious food and good ambiance. Get the French Onion soup (my favorite)! Got Foodie kids? Get them the Lobster Mac and Cheese! The cheese curds with the marinara sauce tasted like something I never had before. I will need to come back to have some when I come around this part of the country again. We went in for a party, the party room held 24, but 30 people showed up. After waiting 20 minutes to order drinks, we were told 6 of us would have to leave. Ok, those are the rules. 4 people left the party because of the hassle. We were hoping to get a regular table to remain part of the party. The manager aggressively approached us and said that there would be no table for us unless we went on a 60 minute wait list. This totally defeated the purpose of trying to remain with our party. Hosted my best friends 21st birthday at Pier 500 and I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND! We reserved a back room and had the worst service ever. The staff was no where to be found and we didn't get drinks for over 45 minutes. They said we wouldn't be charged a fee for the cake if we bring our own plates and then they added a very large charge and said we were wrong. 100% not worth it. Server Katie was so rude she slammed our checks together when we disputed the charges. So unprofessional to treat guests so horribly. 0 refills the entire 2.5 hours we were dying for water! Overall they ruined our celebration and treated us like trash. Do better. read more

I asked my mom where she wanted to go if it was my treat for a lunch outing and she emphatically said she wanted to come here for the Walleye sandwich that she had heard such good things about. The weather was fantastic so we sat on the outdoor patio, overlooking the gorgeous lush park and river. Because the restaurant and patio is located on the river side, unlike some others just up the street which are right on the main highway through town, it's much more enjoyable to dine outdoors. Aside from happy chatter of the others and the sound of a cocktail being mixed in a shaker, it's pretty quiet. My mom did order the Walleye sandwich and she gobbled it right up. Said it was fantastic. Almost had a buttery flavor and the fish had a slight sweet taste. She said she could taste the fish and the beer batter without one overpowering the other. She wants to go back and have another! I had the salmon healthy bowl and it was superb. The salmon was a good sized piece and perfectly cooked with a tasty glaze. I always wish there was a little more of the salad part included in the bowl, but it was very good with the thai chili sauce. The service was very attentive and friendly. I really wanted to give at least 4 stars but we had some major issues. Went with friends on a Saturday night. I will say that the inside was beautiful and clean. Great, inviting space. Our server first stopped by fairly quickly and took drink orders. Someone else dropped the drinks off. For another 10 minutes, our server disappeared. He finally took our orders and someone else brought them out. Then someone else checked on us. Then we saw our server just one more time before we paid. Wasn't really impressed by the chaotic service and our server disappearing. My friend ordered a steak medium well and it came out raw. Not rare - raw. She's also 6 months pregnant, so, couldn't eat it. The prices were steep so I was expecting everyone to get what they wanted. She sent the steak back, they cooked the same piece of steak a little longer, and gave it back. It was medium. She ate around the edges and ate the side dishes and moved on, unsatisfied. My rotisserie chicken sandwich was phenomenal. Their rotisserie chicken was the star of the show. It was flavorful and juicy. The nachos were good and so were the cheese curds. I didn't hear any comments about the meatball sandwich . I'd love to go back because I was happy with my meal. However, I was really disappointed that my friends, who were visiting from out of town, had the experience they did. read more

The main drag in downtown Hudson is in fact, a drag. 2nd Street is a mess with all the construction going on. But fortunately, Pier 500 is on 1st Street, and suffers little to no affect from the turmoil a block east. Because of its close proximity to the St. Croix, parking can be a challenge. During busy times, street, and lot parking availability is scarce. We had to park some distance away. We got to navigate our way across the dreaded 2nd Street, through a slot between two buildings, down a flight of stairs, and across the parking lot, just to get to P500. It was an adventure indeed. I thought to myself, this food better be good. Pier 500 came through. The food was excellent. By keeping their menu pared down, they are able to focus on quality instead of quantity. There is plenty of staff to serve your need. Some better than others. But at least they're there. Unlike some of the other restaurants who are caught in the Covid conundrum of short staff. The four adults in our party each had a different entree, and all of us thoroughly enjoyed what we chose. If you follow me on Yelp, you know what I chose. Those of you who could care less what I have to say, I had the Meatloaf! It was top notch. My granddaughters had the kids chicken fingers, and the grilled cheese. Enough left over for their lunch today, easy for mama. You'll love Pier 500. Great location, great food, and great people. Came from Minnesota and decided to try this place out. The server was very rude to me and my friend, I watched as she was nice to the people that came in and were next to us. That attitude changed for us, I'd be understanding if we were rude but we just sat down and really just kept to ourselves. We would say thank you and even left a good tip in the end. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION If you are going to Hudson WI, or driving through, eat here. Downtown Hudson has many wonderful restaurants, it is like it is the New Stillwater. Pier 500 has been here for quite some time, and is established. I have been here 4 or 5 times. Parking isn't too bad, and if you do have to walk, it is a beautiful area right across the street from the St Croix River. Now this restaurant, inside and out, is simply divinely decorated. A warm, welcoming atmosphere is definitely the vibe. Now the food: first class menu first class quality first class ingredients first class bar first class chefs FYI, there seems to be a regular soup of the day every week day. A recent visit there revealed that every Saturday is Lobster Bisque day. Be still my heart! Now, a good Lobster Bisque with a glass of Pinot Grigio and a crusty bread is all I need for a meal. This meal delivered!!!!! It conjured up memories of past Lobster Bisques that I have had all over the United States. Most significantly, the homemade one that my dear friend in Utah and I made together, doubling the amount of lobster the recipe called for. Plus her homemade sourdough bread. No restaurant can top that experience! But it is exciting to keep looking! This would have been 5 stars, but the young staff is a little less than professional. Again, as a mature woman, I sometimes get the shaft service wise. Especially when I am solo. Especially from the hostess stand. I had the Open Faced Turkey Sandwich and topped it with the fried onion strings. It was nothing less then delicious both times.
