I tried this restaurant again on the request of GM. And I was so happy that I did. Our waitress Sherallz was a very pleasant and cheerful. The food this time around was delicious. No complaints at all. I will be back again. read more

Happened upon this restaurant on Taco Tuesday. Started with the chips & Queso, YUM! Best chips I've had in a while. Then ordered the blackberry moonshine Rita, can't remember the exact name, but it was delightful! The bang bang cauliflower taco 10/10!! Also ordered the Bees Knees taco because it was discounted for taco Tuesday, it was a little disappointing because the chicken was cold. I think if I had ordered it on a night other than Tuesday it would have been made fresher and better. Overall, I loved this place. My server was very nice and attentive. I'll definitely be back when I'm back in town! read more

It's a pretty hip place. The menu is upscale tacos that can be ordered as a bowl or salad. The good was very good. The prices were acceptable. The decor is funky but not weird. The service was prompt and friendly. I am going back! read more

These tacos are awesome! The decor is cool, seating is pretty plentiful and apparently can support large parties - as I sat next to one this evening. The Alderman taco was a standout, as was this month's special (the Swipe Right, if you're visiting April 2018). Caitlin was an attentive server, kept my two beverages filled the entire time even though the restaurant was slammed during my visit. Glad to have a great taco place in Covington! read more

NEW FAVORITE PLACE! The rooster and the lobster tacos were amazing, and I would love to slip n slide through their queso. If you go, ask for Sharell. She is awesome and made our meal extra fun! read more

First time here and it was amazing! The staff is amazing (especially Tahisha, she rocked it!) and the food is sooo good!! Definitely coming back! read more

Terrible food on all levels. Not even sure how on Earth does this place get 4 stars on Yelp.

Ordered a mojito for my wife which looked like a mojito with the mint but tasted like a sweet syrup without any alcohol. I had a mint julep type margarita , not really sure if it met either standard since it did not taste at all like a mint julep nor did have the appearance of a margarita. The bartenders were personable and attentive. We ordered a few chicken tacos and they actually were quite good with a nice flavor and bite. Overall it was just an average place, maybe because it was crowded due to cinco de mayo. read more

Can't miss this. The double shell tacos add a great, house made texture to each bite. The variety of meats and flavors make up some of the best tacos I've had. read more

Terrible, overall. Just about the food - each taco has both a soft and crispy shell, and is full of something cheap and tasteless like rice or mounds of cheap cheese, with a tiny amount of 'duck' or 'kangaroo' on top. Each at $9! Literally, the kangaroo was on one side only, one-inch long and 1/8th of an inch thick. It's just cheap carbs piled high. Do yourself a favour - get some old fashioned fried chicken and eat a healthier, better value dinner. Rip off. read more

Agave & Rye - Covington - After we had removed the tiny bit of meat and veg, this was left for the tacos. Mounds of fillers. - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Covington, Kentucky

Happened upon Agave & Rye on the 4th of July while staying in Covington, it was our first time to try this taco & tequila bar it won't be the last! Really interesting menu with lots of different combinations to choose from. We had the Swipe Right which was great and a pick three chip & dip combo with salsa, queso & quacamole. All the ingredients were very fresh and the portions generous & reasonably priced. I opted for the peach Bellini margarita but there were several others that I would like to try! My only recommendation would be a thinner chips. The manager, Michael, was very friendly and took time to review the menu and offer suggestions. Our server, Emma was also excellent! Overall great food & service on a holiday. As it turns out they just opened a new location in our hometown, Huntsville, AL so we will be able to continue enjoying this eclectic Mexican eatery. read more

By no means a perfect experience. But, Desiree did a masterful job of recognizing and addressing the issue. The food was outstanding! These two factors more than compensated for any inconveniences I experienced. I will be back, I'd encourage others to give this place a try. Desiree is an impressive manager. read more

This place is awesome! They have so many gluten free options! The drinks are great and so is the atmosphere! I would recommend this place to anyone that loves tacos, margaritas and bourbon!!! read more

Margaritas that are basically pre-made. Mac and cheese which is just room temperature noodles, mixed with cold mozzarella cheese, and no sauce or creaminess of any kind. The queso reminds me of nacho cheese from the movie theatre and it gets hard as a rock almost immediately. Cool concept, execution is horrible. Bartender was nice. I had the swipe right taco and it was good, everything else was subpar or just plain bad. Just go to Fridas instead and get a proper meal. read more

Agave & Rye - Covington - Worst Mac and cheese I've ever tasted. Worse than a fast good restaurant. Gross. - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Covington, Kentucky

Add this to the top of the list on favorite places to eat. The menu is tacos, tequila, and bourbon so where can you go wrong. The tacos aren't typical tacos either; shrimp and grits, Nashville hot, bees knees....imagine your favorite meal, but put it on a taco shell. Two tacos are actually pretty filling and dessert is bourbon bread pudding or taco pie. Look up the menu and swing by on an easy Sunday to hang at the bar, watch baseball, and eat some amazing food! read more

Became aware of this place a couple months ago. Read the mixed reviews but my cousin went on Friday and gave me thumbs up. My friend and I went Saturday around 2:30 pm. Diners were cycling in and out so seating was not an issue. We both had margaritas and we had queso with spicy sausage. She had the Plain Jane, I had the shrimp, sausage and grits taco as well as the pork belly. The queso and chips we loved. The shrimp taco was delicious. The Plain Jane my friend really liked. The pork belly taco had great flavors and components but the fatty part of the pork belly was chewy for me. You get plenty of food and we were both stuffed. I would not order the margaritas again, they were not my favorite. I will definitely return though , I like the location and decor. My booth kept moving, like the whole thing and when we were about to leave it started getting crowded so it took a while to pay. But they are a work in progress, I think they will continue to improve. I know they are already working on the drink menu. My girlfriend agreed, we'll be back. read more

The tacos here were delicious! We had "The Mole" and The Swipe Right". We didn't get drinks with our lunch, but I would imagine they would have been very good. The problem with our visit was our service. We sat down at a table and it took about 15 minutes for our server to come acknowledge us, and when he did, there was no formal introduction. He brought us waters and waited for us to place our orders. I found him kind of rude, which was a shame because all the other servers seemed friendly. All in all, great tacos, but could use a more customer friendly approach! read more

We went here on a whim while in the area and it did not disappoint! Our server was friendly and welcoming. The $5 happy hour margarita and $2 chips and queso hit the spot while we waited for our tacos. The tacos were delicious and HUGE! I had The Swipe Right and The Whipper Snapper- filling and soooo good! My sister had The Dirty South and The Alderman, which she loved. My husband had The Cat's Meow and The Bang Bang, also delicious. We will definitely be venturing down this way again just for these tacos! read more

Great food & Service! Our server was Filipe. He explained the menu. Gave suggestions and was all around phenomenal.

I was staying in the hotel across the street so it was very convenient. Stopped in the first night for a couple 3 beers and had great conversation with the staff. The next night I decided to try the tacos. A friend had told me he didn't care for them but I was blown away. The Mole was amazing. I will return... read more

Out of towner so I can not compare to local restaurants only my culinary aptitude. I live in the deep South East coast and am pescatarian. So eat lots of fish and seafood daily. The lobster taco was beyond description! Then ordered 3 more from the "grow" section. So impressed. Everything was unique and flavorful. Service was great, friendly and attentive. Scored seats at the bar, which I always enjoy. Jordan gave us some insider tips. This will become a must-do for each trip to this area. read more

We had heard great things about this restaurant.. Until we arrived.. It was a Friday night but they were not exceptionally busy ..we sat at an outside table and did not even get noticed by staff.. We waited 20 mins. and no one came to our table.. We were looking for other restaurants on our phone to go other places..the tacos choices were amazing.. However the tacos I choose were not the as flavorful as I had hoped or were hyped.. I always give restaurants a second chance.. We will be back.. I am hoping for better results read more

Had a great time here last night with server Marissa and manager Alejandra. I mention them particularly because we were lingering and they were attentive without being overbearing. The tacos are amazing and delicious. Something for everyone. This was a great place to break out of quarantine. Looking forward to our next visit. read more

I recently dined here. The service was very slow it took over an hour after seating for food. The waiters allowed passerby's to harass my table and panhandle the entire time we were dinning outside. The waiters did nothing to help made my meal very uncomfortable. read more

My wife and I were really looking forward to trying out some good bourbon, tequila, and unique specialty tacos - so we made the trip across the river to NKY for a night out. It was a Saturday night (2/17/18), and we got there about 8pm. There was a group of 4 guys waiting just inside the door and next to the bar. As we looked around for a hostess or a sign explaining seating, we found out from the group (who found out from other patrons before them), that it was a "seat yourself" situation. Well, that might work if it's a place with available seats, but if you're jam-packed, that's a bad business plan. Even if that is your business plan, I'd strongly suggest putting up an obvious sign somewhere stating that it's seat yourself so people aren't wandering around. Since there was only 1 group in front of us, we decided to wait it out, and possibly get a drink at the bar, but that was packed to the gills. At least 20 minutes went by, and no tables opened up. Okay, so they're busy - that's fair... However, my issue was that no wait staff or bar staff said hello or even acknowledged our presence at the door and entryway. Plenty of them were briskly walking by, but no eye contact or anything. I can't imagine how many people step into the entryway, see it's packed - with no hostess, and turn around and leave. After chatting up the group in front of us, we found out that they had been there for 15 minutes before we showed up. One guy was finally able to order a round of drinks about 10 minutes after we got there... so 25 minutes after they got there. As we neared 30 minutes of wait time, with no hope in sight, and no knowledge of whether we'd ever get seated (or what kind of service we'd get once we were), we bailed for another location. The concept is unique and right up our alley (bourbon, tequila, good craft tacos)... however, the "seat yourself" concept without ever acknowledging your guests, doesn't work at all. read more

Loved this restaurant! Not only was the food amazing, but the atmosphere was very unique. Definitely going to venture back again!

I have always enjoyed this restaurant since they first came to Covington. Glad to see them grow and branch out into new cities, the owners are great. Place has a great atmosphere and I have never been disappointed by the food. Bridgette (bartender/server) is always fun and personable. Even if the food wasn't great, I would still probably lunch here just to chat with her. read more

Came here around noon for lunch. Bartender smiled, greeted me, and told me to grab a seat anywhere. My friends were already here so I found them. The place had a decent amount of people in it. I like the decor, it's different, and there's a lot of things to look at. Our server was nice and attentive. We ordered chips, guac, and salsa. The chips are really good. The guac looked a little brown hut still tasted good. We each ordered tacos and they came out relatively quick. I had the #1 (The Rooster) - crispy chicken, mac n cheese, Nashville Hot sauce, and sweet pickle relish. The toppings sit in a crunchy taco, which is on top of a soft (flour) taco. I love that they serve it this way! You get the crunchy taco but it's held together by the soft taco so it's not breaking and falling apart all over! This taco was about $4 and I was impressed with with the size and amount of food that was. I'm glad my friend had been there before and convinced me to only order 1 taco because I was ready to order 3 and I definitely would not have made it through even a second one. So, since I only had one taco and there were at least 4 that caught my eye, I'll definitely be going back! read more

Best chips and food in Covington keep doing yo thing and keep making people's day going

Great concept with not so great execution. Ambience and decor are creative and makes it seem like a slightly upscale place. Several inventive tequila based cocktails, not as much emphasis on the rye portion of their name, however. The food is a different story. Strange combinations of ingredients that really don't work together. I had a steak taco that was drenched in parmesan cheese?? And all their tacos come with both a soft and hard shell so you get filled up on flour pretty quickly. I think this place would work better as just a bar because they really don't have a good handle on the food. read more

The best thing about this taco restaurant is the music. Oh, and maybe the beer. We started with the chips and guacamole only to find that the chips were so soggy it was hard to find one that crunched. The guac was bland and no chunks of avocado evident. Not sure what they made it with. The tacos were OK. However, the fixin's, i.e. Tomatoes peppers etc. were cold and therefore made the meat taste lukewarm at best. Sorry folks. This was way beyond my exceptions! After reading reviews I was not sure what to expect. We went for a late lunch and we were so impressed with the food. We got guac and salsa for starters. They were both fresh and had wonderful flavor. I am vegetarian so I got two "grow" tacos, the chosen one and the mole. They were delicious! My friend got the epic and whipper snapper. She was just as impressed. The service was quick and friendly. We do not leave near here but, we will be coming back. Next time I will have a drink with my tacos. The food was real and fresh and had amazing flavor. Anymore that is half the battle. There are reviews that talk about the servers and they can make or break an experience for sure. Speak up if the serve is poor. The manager/owner needs to know if that is what is keeping business away. I highly recommend Agave and Rye! read more

We went for lunch this past Friday at about 1:45 or so. The restaurant was not very busy but picked up while we were there. I had the All Nighter (duck confit) and a Whipper Snapper. We ordered the selection of salsa, queso, and guacamole with chips to start. The queso, guac, and salsa was outstanding and so fresh. I thought the tacos were very well prepared and the combinations worked perfectly. I can't recommend Agave & Rye enough, and I can't wait until they open a location in Columbus, Ohio. read more
