Really good queso and vegetarian tacos. I hope one day they expand and have more of a sit down feel and less of a bar

This is a really fun and eclectic environment!! Great guacamole that has a little kick to it, plus you get a generous amount of it so it's perfect for sharing with friends!! The choice of tacos is a combination of traditional favorites and totally out of the box creations!! Everything we had was delicious!! The margaritas were very refreshing on a hot summer night! The inside is fun and interesting or you can choose to sit outside at one of their picnic tables along the sidewalk!! This is a fun and inexpensive dinner choice!! read more

OMG!!! Mack was the best!! I asked her to move me inside to a booth and she didn't hesitate. She always checked in to see if I needed anything and no matter what I asked for she delivered. Great conversation and stories but her dance moves stole my heart! lol - Agave, all of your employees are pretty freaking awesome but please please please don't lose this one!! read more

Queso and guac were delicious! They have a great variety of tacos and sides to choose from and they all tasted great!! I also got the Jalapeño Margarita which didn't sound appealing at first but it was pretty good! Beware, it does have a kick to it. Prices were fair, and the ambiance was unique which I really enjoyed. read more

Really great!!! Love the atmosphere, definitely not what I expected. Unique, friendly, artistic. Food was fantastic, tastes are great, prices are perfect, and the fountain Coke was full of syrup!!! Yum!!! Thanks for a great dinner!! read more

This place was just ok. I'd say it was borderline a 2 to 3 star. We got some queso and chips and it was good. The chips are homemade, which is nice. We got some brussel sprouts, which were very nice. Then I got the tacos. All of which weren't much to write home about, however I do like the hard taco around the soft taco. I got The Rooster, which is crispy chicken, mac and cheese, nashville hot sauce, and sweet pickles. I don't get the sweet pickles, because any nashville hot chicken restaurant puts dill pickles on their chicken. I don't think there was any hot sauce on it and the mac and cheese had no flavor. I wouldn't get this one again. I got The Epic Taco, which is pork belly. That was pretty good, but they put fries on it even though it doesn't come with fries. I didn't taste any sauce. They also cut the pork belly too large, so taking a bite of it was difficult. You can't cut through it with your teeth, so you just take huge bites of it. I don't think I'd get it again. Lastly I got The Cat's Meow. It was basically jambalaya in a taco. This was probably the best of the three, but that isn't saying much. I make jambalaya tacos at home and it's usually more flavorful than this. Everything here was just bland and tasteless. Not sure I'd come here again. read more

Hopefully my wife doesn't see this review because she was all about this place lol. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. We ordered 4 tacos, the kangaroo (sensei), rima D, the all nighter and and their new one that had lobster. My fave was the Rima D which had short rib and garlic mashed potatoes with crispy onions on top. The problem is they're just so messy and I don't like the double shell, all their tacos are in a hard corn tortilla with a soft flour tortilla around it, carb overload. I still recommend at least giving it a shot, I'll definitely go back because they have other tacos i want to try, I'll just ask for only a soft tortilla read more

this place is amazing a very gen z kinda restaurant everyone is nice and the food here rocks

Enticing but poorly executed, Agave & Rye has a wide variety of taco offerings from Nashville hot chicken and mac & cheese to kangaroo. I was so enticed I still decided to brave the elements through a torrential downpour to get some delicious taco goodness in my belly. Sadly, I was disappointed. The tacos come with a crispy inner shell with a soft outer shell to hold everything in - a good concept to create texture complexity. I would recommend adding something between the shells to make it more flavorful. I usually like big portions but the tacos were assembled in such a way you really couldn't get a decent bite with more than one ingredient in it. I ordered The Rooster, The Goddess and the Duck Empanadas. The Rooster was okay but lacked heat. The Goddess was dreadfully bland. The tots and tomatoes were both underseasoned. The house pimento on it was good, but I would have preferred a spicy chipotle sauce instead of the buttermilk crema. The tomatoes would be better utilized to cool off a more intense flavor. The duck empanadas were my favorite part but I found a bone in my first bite. Over the course of this meal I had three different bartenders. The restaurant was very overstaffed (probably due to the rain) and I think I hit a shift change. That being said, the last bartender took about 10 minutes to run my card after I asked for the bill. read more

Worst tacos I've ever had. Service was good but low quality meat and not impressive for the price at all.

Fast service, amazing food, fair price, excellent queso. Would come again any time. The atmosphere is quirky, artistic and fun. Went with a friend at work and wasn't disappointed! read more

A great little addition to the Covington food scene. The menu is precise with a great list of tacos to choose from. I had the Salmon taco and the Bee's Knees, both of which were excellent. The owners are super cool, and the servers are speedy. This place does get packed so keep that in mind when you visit. read more

Terrible service and a complete lack of organization. Hosts were vague and seemed to be lying about wait times to keep customers from leaving. Waited an hour and a half for my food to be told that the wait would be longer and that I should cancel my order if I don't want to wait. I had a scheduled pick-up time and even then my order was extremely delayed. Do not waste your time ordering from here, let alone going here. read more

First off. No host stand, it's a freakin free for all which sucks! The drinks were great. Our food was cold but tasted okay. The chips and guacamole came after our tacos were served - that's odd. Not sure if it's worth the hassle. read more

This restaurant has a solid amount of staple options and several rotating taco choices making the menu fun and always interesting. The appetizers are good and the margaritas are very tasty. The largest drawback is just how heavily the food tastes. It is very greasy and very heavy to the point that everything tastes extremely bad for you. It's very good they don't provide calorie counts . read more

Small but hip decor & music. Needs more outdoor seating! Service on point (thanks Candy). Tried 3 different tacos & all packed with flavor. Great margaritas!! Priced right. Highly recommend! read more

Great atmosphere, fun menu and delicious food. The tacos are tasty plus the sides are pretty darn good. Even the salsa, guacamole and queso are really good. Came here both with a Work group and friends and enjoyed both times. read more

Great, unique tacos and margs with a super chic atmosphere! Be ready to wait for a seat although the wait is definitely worth it.

My husband and I decided to try this restaurant for Sunday lunch. Oh...my...goodness! We ordered a five tacos and cut them in half so we both got to try several different kinds of DELICIOUS! We both liked the Swipe Right the best, but they were all good. The bourbon and bacon refried beans were great, too. We plan to go back and try some of other types of tacos. Our order will always include a Swipe Right, we know that! And Candy, the manager...soooo nice! Just a wonderful afternoon! read more

I was meeting a friend for a drink so we decided to give this place a try. Cute atmosphere. Nice servers. We both ordered the Bourbon Peach Punch and split an order of chips and guac. The chips and guac were ok. But if you are going to bill yourself as a tequila and bourbon bar, you really should put some booze in the drinks. All peaches and sugar. Not even a taste of bourbon. Disappointed. read more

By far the worst food I've ever had. The White queso they advertised on the menu is actually velveeta and rotel dip. The tacos were absolutely gross and covered in sour cream. The service is sub par at best. Will not be returning. read more

I had a wonderful experience here! I had the Mole and the Alderman tacos, both delicious. Had seconds of the Mole. Also enjoyed their signature drink - yummm. The service was great, friendly - the overall ambience is fun and energizing. read more

Really good tacos - needs more space- but if you are a fan of tacos and eccentric places you will LOVE this place!

My favorite new place, mainly because I love the atmosphere and the service is great. I went two nights in a row, on a Friday evening and went back again on Saturday evening. The first come first serve seating I am not a fan of. If there is a line of people, there is no where to really stand and wait without being in the way or without standing in the doorway or outside. There should be at least some sort of sign in sheet or hostess. Food comes out pretty quickly and a delicious variety of unique taco combinations. They also have and endless tequila and bourbon selection of course. I ordered the Fresh Margarita and each one tasted different than the last. Not sure if it was server communication or different bartender. Overall, I really enjoy this place and location of it and will definitely be returning. read more

Obviously this place looks so cool! I do not love the seat yourself but the drinks, food, and service I did! I had the Rooster and the bang bang and I'm still thinking about them 4 days later. Josh was our server, he was professional and quick even though it was so busy! I can't wait to go back read more

Amazing place. The tequila and bourbon list are great, the taco choices plentiful. A very quick visit but only because the kitchen can put out some food fast and great. Will be back read more

We went here on a Monday and it was crowded but able to get a table. Had chips and salsa, the alderman, the snitch, and tater tots. The best thing was the tater tots. Everything was fine. Nothing was exceptional. read more

The Queso and chips are great, solid tacos, but beware of the epic margarita. Initially it goes down smooth, then you will feel the sensation of battery acid being poured down your throat, even 24 hours and a bottle of Tums later... read more

My wife and I like to explore different restaurants during "Cincinnati Burger Week". Especially place that we would not normally order a burger. We tried three new places the week of July 11-17 and Agave & Rye was the only place that mailed it in. Everything about the burger (The El Papi) was prepared in advance and just assembled when ordered. It was cold and tasteless. The burger was supposed to be two patties but was a patty and a half served room temperature. The bacon and ham mixture turned out to be two slices of bacon... again served cold. The white cheddar was totally missing and it was smothered in onion straws. Which were not in the description of the burger and would have been welcomed but... they were cold. All in all the burger was a disaster. Burgers should be hot, fresh and tasty and this one was not. Better not participate in burger week if you don't know how to make a proper burger. Just stick to tacos read more

The interior renovations are amazing, although the floor is quite slippery. The service was amazing, attentive, helpful but not overbearing. The food.....meh. We ordered chips & guac. The chips were delish. The guac was fresh, but bland. I got the mole, which was also quite bland. The bees knees was much more flavorful. read more

Customer Service is terrible. I called to place a pick up order, and inquired about vegan options as I was sure I had eaten at this restaurant before and enjoyed their food. The woman on the other end of the phone was unwilling to understand what a vegan is and was aggressive about the fact that they had no options and there's no possible way I ordered a vegan meal from them before. I wish the situation had been handled with less attitude, I wanted to give you my money after all. Will not be back, ever. read more

By far the BEST in atmosphere, food, service, and delicious cocktails. If you are one of the few who haven't tried these epic tacos, you Must go! read more

SO GOOD!! RUN... don't walk, to get some tacos from here. I always get the 'Swipe Right' taco and it's amazing. I'm not sure what they put on the bacon but wow, it's delicious. I always bring my friends here when they're in from out of town. Plenty of options and it's such a cool spot! The servers are great and always have amazing recommendations if you ask! read more

My fiancé and I had been looking forward to trying Agave & Rye and finally did so on taco Tuesday. We ordered prickly pear and watermelon margaritas which I will say were pretty good! Strong, but good. I was very disappointed with the staff. Our waiter was great. However, we set by the bar and had to listen to the bartender complain throughout or entire meal. (She couldn't make drinks and answer phones, the dishwasher guy wasn't there on time, etc...) The tacos were alright but then about 30 minutes after we left my stomach hurt. I was very disappointed with the whole experience and we won't be returning. I would MUCH rather travel to OTR and go to Bakersfield! read more

Atmosphere is laid back, music is great, and a nice selection of margaritas. A bit pricey at 23 for two drinks w tip. The menu is awesome, fun selection of very unique tacos. Second time here and still searching for a taco that tastes as amazing as it sounds on the menu. If we go back, we decided to stick with just basic street tacos, or the epic. One taco, chips or an appetizer and a drink would be the perfect amount of food. But the menu is so interesting you want to try two...but two tacos and we both left stuffed. The Godfather was as heavy as it sounds flavor was ok, the spiciness of the Swipe Right overpowered the flavor, the fish street taco said spicey and was, but not bad. The epic was our favorite and had the best flavor. read more

I really wanted to love this place. Sadly, the food was a disappointment, the service was poor, and the restaurant was dirty. I wouldn't recommend it, or go back. read more

Definitely underrated. Best and most creative tacos Ive ever eaten and there signature cocktail was sweet enough for a woman but strong enough for a man. Make sure you stop in for a drink and some amazing delicious tacos read more

I've eaten here on three separate occasions with friends who really like Agave & Rye. Unfortunately, every time has been a pretty mediocre experience for me. The carnitas and short rib were very dry the two times I tried them and something was off about the shrimp and onions in the Po Boy taco. There are much better tacos in the Cincy area but at least Covington has a bit of a Renaissance happening. read more

Really wanted to like this place but...made a special trip to the Covington location after hearing they were going into Liberty Center. The good...homemade chips and salsa and lots of selection in tequila and bourbon. The bad...Cats meow taco was mostly grits and The Snitch taco was not spicy at all even though advertised as jerk spice and was mostly pineapple with very small piece of fish. Quite disappointing and hope they get it together before coming to Liberty. read more

Five of our family came tonight and everyone's Margaritas and the chips, salsa, queso, and guacamole were great. Service was friendly and efficient, and we loved the food. One had the Sensei (Kangaroo)bowl, 2 had the Good Wolf taco (Pork carnitas and pineapple salsa), 1 had the Bee's Knees taco ( Honey Lime Chicken), and 1 had The Crown Jewel taco (Lobster & Mushrooms). We loved everything! We went early, fortunately, because by 8 it was pretty full but our service was good all evening. We will definitely come back! read more
