We went with friends. The service was fine. The tacos are very filling. The margaritas are excellent! We went try two pitchers. Try the pimento cheese dip. read more

The bartender was nice, the music was very very loud for a sit down restaurant in the middle of the day. The food was just OK... The drinks were great though! read more

First time dining there but won't be the last. Exceptional service, food and overall experience. Highly recommend!!

We were excited about coming here it's pretty new and we passed by it a few times. We thought a Friday night would be nice we didn't hv to wait long we found a empty table almost immediately. Our server was pleasant and quick. We had chips and queso to start, the chips are delish. I had the duck confit taco and a veggie with cauliflower it was okay not much seasoning though. My hubby had the steak and a chicken taco he didn't think either had much seasoning also. The food is mediocre not great but we will be back to try different tacos. read more

Agave & Rye - Covington - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Covington, Kentucky

This is the second time my wife and I visited. It was just as amazing as the first. The only difference is I only had one Blue Moon then went for the Epic Margarita, "My god it was on point" just outstanding. Last year we stayed at the Hotel Covington right across the street and enjoyed a free concert from Braxton Brewing believe it was the Bacon and Burbon festival. If you can book all this the same weekend " well your welcome". Only down fall to the tacos is they are filled with macaroni and need a little more toppings; however the toppings are delicious. This place is great hope you enjoy. If only there was a beach close to enjoy that frozen epic margarita. read more

Dear Agave and Rye, We've been enjoying your tacos for about a year now. It takes quite a long time to work through the menu as the tacos are sooo epic, about 2 is all you can eat each visit. I finally found my favorite only to find on our last visit, "it doesn't fit with our business model". Wait...what?? Your business model is tacos with eclectic ingredients. All of them fit with "who you are as a business". Your locations are nowhere near my house but it WAS worth the drive for a favorite. The Cats Meow needs to come back before I do!! read more

I debated between 2 and 3 stars but, as I'm writing this, I had to make it a one star. We enjoyed our friends but the dining experience was just too bad. The Pros: the decor and the FLAVOR of the tacos I ordered. I really liked the flavor and texture combo of mine: the duck and the pork belly (#4 and 7). Unlike many other reviewers, I liked the crispy shell inside the soft shell - nice combo that enables the crispiness experience that I cherish, but keeps it all tidy. The Cons: COLD food - for all 6 of us; food took a long time to come out! at the same time there were few customer..jeesh. Meh margaritas - yep. The servers were not familiar with all the food and drink options to the point that she could not even begin to describe it. Really. When the food was served, two people brought out the food and a third showed up soon after and not one of them knew who got what and even had trouble identifying what they were serving. My hub was told the tuna in his taco was very fresh - No, not. Mushy = frozen. read more

No joke. Slowest bartender with the least personality we've ever seen. Glasses, pierced nose. Including us, 6 people at the bar, he made two drinks at the service well. Really not that busy. Somehow dropped off menus without saying hello, just dropped them and walked away. Finally ordered, he all of a sudden just walked outside to get glassware from next door (I'm assuming different concept, same company), but tell us dude. That was so weird. Just let us know, talk to us. You're a bartender communicate. And WHY could you not just clean your glass? I've bartended for 16 years, and always talk, explain, communicate. That's our job. That's how we make tips (by the way, we still tipped, bc we have morals as bartenders) Maybe we were in a rush, maybe we were trying to get to a wedding.... we were. From 4:45pm-5:15pm, she got a bud light can and a shot of Jameson, I got a Rit Rye, and it was all we could do to get ONE ROUND. Wanted food. Couldn't get it. I'm sure he remembers us, I'm not embarrassed. Please get a different job. You're slow, and not friendly. Hopefully your management communicates this to you. I've done this job long enough, this isn't for you. Please, save people the suffering. World needs plenty of call center employees..... read more

I've had agave and rye a few times now, after hearing Aton of rave reviews, and I have mixed feelings about it. If you want a traditional taco, this isn't going to be your spot. the menu is full of lots of off the wall ideas- a hamburger taco, a lobster taco. And some of them are really tasty! My biggest issue is that the organization of the place doesn't lend itself to make it easy on customers or on their staff. There is no hostess, and it's "sit where you want". It is typically very busy, so you just wait in a line out the door and sit at the first table you see vacated. The tables are dirty when you sit at them, since there isn't a gap between customers. Then it's just on the server to notice someone new has sat in their section. It all feels really inconvenient. I got the house margarita, and it had a weird aftertaste that i think had something to do with maybe juicing entire limes and getting the rind and pith in as well? I'm not sure. It was just okay. The food was alright as well, I found the double taco shell a little unusual without something holding the shells together, and the flavors a little atypical. The queso is great and the chips taste nice and fresh. The beer selection is really nice. The staff is also very kind. I just think there is room for improvement. read more

Good tacos and margaritas. Would prefer I'd salsa was less chunky otherwise liked this spot and will be back

Love the tacos here! The monthly feature, #18 The Sensei, was incredible!! Also like the #7 The Epic taco: the bbq pork belly, apple slaw, and pickled onions all complimented each other. The chips and guac were ok, nothing too special. I didn't love the decor, felt it was dark, and the bathroom was pretty gross. I'll definitely go back to try more tacos, such a great menu and very diverse! read more

Tried their enchiladas tonight and was very happy with them. Previously I've only had their tacos. Planning on continuing to try other items from the menu. read more

As we were ordering a pitcher of Margaritas a cockroach scurried across the side of the margarita machine.... The food... highly disappointing... we ordered the the pizza taco, Mac and cheese taco, a fish taco and 2 burritos... the tacos were simply nasty and the burritos had very little meat, mostly flour tortilla... the atmosphere was great, and the decor is very fun... would not recommend read more

I ordered from door dash as everything is closed down, I placed my order wit Papi Jochas. I love their birria tacos with the juice. That's been my go to place. I received my order and it had an aquave and rye receipt on the bag and sure enough these birria tacos aren't the tacos I'm used to ordering. Nothing similar about them. I contacted door dash to find out that Papi jochas and aquave and rye combined and are using a&r recipe. Had I known that I wouldn't have ordered the birria and would have gotten something I actually like from there. As I do like their food just not the birria. Was very disappointing when I was expecting what I like. I hope all ordering platforms updates their information. read more

The chips with black bean salsa are soooo yummy!! The happy hour margarita is very good as well. The black salt is a nice touch. read more

We've been to Agave & Rye a handful of times and have always enjoyed it, but tonight we had the best service yet! Our server, Dani, was extremely friendly and down to Earth! She was very informative about the menu, and made sure check in on us throughout the meal. The tacos & Jalapeño Pineapple Margaritas were great as always! We'll definitely be back!!! read more

I really want to like this place bc I love anything even kinda/sorta mex, but agave and rye leaves a lot to be desired. I've been a few times and always left disappointed. The tacos are overpriced and just meh, at best. They lack flavor and they're double wrapped?...Not like two thin corn tortillas you might get at a legit place, but a hard taco (think Taco Bell just not as good) wrapped with an untoasted soft shell (think Mission tortilla out of the wrapper). I've tried most of the menu and haven't found a good one. Don't order the Alderman unless you feel like gnawing on a tire. Stick with Bakersfield and Frida when going for this genre. read more

We tried it. It just wasn't good. Tacos left alot to be desired. So did queso dip. Not worth the $$$.

This taco spot is quickly becoming one of our faves. I'm not a margarita person but everyone I've eaten with here raves about the margs. The vibe is low key and kind of grunge but I love that. Queso is super delicious and the bowls have a ton of food. Great value and quality food. read more

We went for a date night. The food was really good and the portions were big enough for both of us. The problem we had with the place was the customer service. They brought out our food on time however the way the place was set up was confusing. The entrance door didn't have people by it so we sat down ourselves. The workers there just waited till we got up and went over to ask if we are to be seated or not and they told us yeah you gotta wait on us to seat you. Food was quality service was okay. read more

Our first time eating here, the waitress was fabulous with her sharing of the menu, advising and guiding. I sure wish I could remember her name. Open a restaurant in Kansas and we'll be regulars!! Everything was phenomenal! We may just have to come back for dinner on one of our evenings, before heading back to Wichita read more

Very unique tacos and atmosphere. It definitely is not your basic tacos. The tacos are huge! It is difficult to eat more than one. I do not like the chips they are too heavy and greasy but I love the queso and salsa, I am considering bringing my own chips next time. The drinks taste good but little alcohol for the cost of them. I have been here 4 times and tried different tacos each time and have enjoyed each one I have had. read more

Great service, great food and great drinks! Epic as they would say!! Chips and Queso

The tacos are unique and very good carefully thought-out it's a unique place. This coming from a guy who knows a lot about tacos believe me I've been to the deepest heart of Mexican barrio in Los Angeles and tried the most authentic tacos still those are the best. I don't mind the flour tortillas wrapped around corn at first it threw me off but then I didn't use the flour tortillas I just ate the Taco by itself the flour tortilla acted more as a drop plate all my leftovers drop right into the flour tortilla and this created another Taco in itself. I've already seen a few people complain about the extra taco shell or the extra flour shell how lame is that? Get over it make use of it you don't need to wrap it around the corner shell you could always remove it and they won't throw you out. but this place again was a unique experience the service is outstanding very attentive staff. The only issue I have is the first night the chips and salsa were outstanding and the days that followed it was apparent that they make the salsa in bulk it was not fresh for the next 3 days and locked Heat there was no to their salsa the chips were still very good and fresh. I like the interior myself got good energy good vibe and like I said the staff are real nice read more

We got delivery. Weird tacos, weird nachos, very greasy and the mahi mahi on the tacos was dry and tasted like chicken. Not my favorite spot for sure. I was disappointed. read more

-The taco combinations are flavorful and well conceived. -The size of the tacos is good, but could use a little more meat when called for. -Food prices are okay, but the liquor prices pass unreasonable for most things above the $6 selection. -The homemade tortillas are thick and crispy. Really good -I'd suggest attaching the benches to the floor, or at least preventing them from moving around. -Overall, I enjoyed the meal and decor. read more

Since I've moved to Ohio I have tried many of a Mexican restaurant however none of them come even close to the experience I've had at agave & rye. Their chips and dips are beautifully flavored, drinks strong and food that can put your Abuela to shame. read more

Two of the best tacos I've ever had. Swipe right, and good wolf. Tons of other good looking ones too.

I really enjoy the unique taco options here. My friend ordered a Mac and cheese taco which wasnt her favorite, but cheers to trying new things! I ordered the bang bang taco and the mole taco from the vergitarian section and was very pleased with the quality and flavor. We also got an order of the chips and queso. The queso was great, the chips were a little salty for my taste but I would still order again. It was fun to sit outside on their little patio area on such a beautiful day as well! read more

TASTY AF! Cool atmosphere, loved the vibes. The staff was very helpful, friendly, and efficient. I really really enjoyed my meal at agave and rye. I ordered the first 2 chicken tacos on the menu and they were much larger than other taco places (condado, bakersfield, mazunte) so 2 was plenty! My fiance ordered 3 different tacos (1 chicken, 2 steak) and he said they were both really good. We also had the guac and margaritas and they were also great. No complaints! I would definitely go back! read more

Terrible place. The food was awful. chips was hard and very oily. Saturated dish they were served on. Two different tacos tasteless. The overall restaurant was filthy. My table was sticky. underneath and on top my stacks picked up so much dirt. Flies. Just awful. The one good thing, a nice vodka tonic. And the server was pleasant. I will ever be back. I will not recommend. read more
