GRAND OPENING I came in here today for a check up since the last check up I had was about 10 years ago. Friendly and caring staff. They're also running a grand opening right now, so there are some specials and discounts going on right now. Although this is a grand opening, i found out that they've been in the optometry business now for over 20+ years. English and mandarin (and maybe Taiwanese) seem to be the primary languages spoken here, ample parking, easy access. I walked in, and didn't come out blind or poor. That's good in my book. 5 stars because of a wonderful experience... can't really say I know how to professionally rate an optometry otherwise. I went in for an eye exam because my last visit was over 6 years ago and my eyesight didn't feel as sharp. Everything from calling to booking an appointment, paperwork, exam, follow-up service was very professional. The doctor addressed all of my concerns and was very informative. What really sold me though was the customer service by the employees up front. I'm so used to pushy sales tactics I was ready to run straight out the door after my exam. What caught my eye was their selection of frames. And when I asked about styles and price, they were very informative and eventually helped me pick out my frames. The deal they offered was very fair and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Anti-glare and bluecoat lens + stylish frame was definitely worth the price. This is probably my favorite glasses shop to date so far. Let's start with atmosphere and welcoming shall we. When I first walk in to this shop it is very calming and bright as in the walls and area itself, it makes you feel comfortable to be around and not trapped at all. It isn't big at all relatively small but that's how most glasses shop should be. I was welcomed by a employee called Victoria which is a good friend of mine and made me feel welcoming once I entered the door. She first told me what kind of glasses i wanted to look at and showed me a few of the ray bans I wanted to look at. But ultimately my goal there was to get a premium prescription lens for my already purchased frames. The service with every employee is fast,responsive and very helpful as well. They answered all of my question that I had and inform me on the pricing on all prescription lenses that was available. There wasn't any hassle and conflict between both employee and customer. Highly recommend! I stopped by there days ago to see if I can find a frame I like for my new pair of glasses and for fixing the minor issue on my current one. The staff helped me choose the right frame and the all other staffs were very professional and friendly. They answered all my questions honestly and professionally and shared some tips of taking care of my glasses. My family has been coming to Agape since they were in the other HK plaza and we love it. Every time we visit we are greeted with a friendly smile. I recently came to get a new pair of glasses because my girlfriend said mine were outdated (transitional lenses haha...). Diana was very welcoming and helpful when it came to choosing a new style. I ended up getting a really nice (and decently priced) pair of frames designed in Korea and I really like them! I needed new glasses because my last pair were out of date and honestly not very good. My prescription is REALLY strong but they were able to accommodate me and my needs. They were very professional and clean, they have sanitizer set up on all counters and plexiglass between you and them for everyone's safety. I apologize I didn't get anyones name but I can honestly say it doesn't matter who is helping you EVERYONE is very nice, friendly, and helpful. They told me 10 business days because my prescription is really strong which was fine with me but it only took them 1 week. My new pair look GREAT much better than the previous pair I got from Walmart. My overall experience was fantastic will definitely recommend to anyone who needs a new of glasses or just a backup pair. I was looking for an eye doctor in the area to get contact lens exam and everywhere I called/went to they kept giving me multiple prices depending on if I have astigmatism or not & that they would also charge for a fitting fee; since it's my first time getting contacts. Here is what I said about JC Optical: If you want varieties, brand names, glasses, sunglasses, contact lenses, whatever it is, you want it, this place got it! I was first referred to J.C. Optical by my friend when I needed a pair of glasses, I was told if I mention that I saw their Facebook or Yelp site I would get a discount. And I did indeed! Now, I will not try to fool you by saying, I pay near to nothing for my glasses. However, for what I paid I know I got a great quality glasses with superb service. The manager and the individual who helped me choosing my glasses were very helpful. They first asked me about what type of glasses I wanted and what the main purpose of the glasses are for. For me since I am a heavy user they suggested that I should get the lightest model. Long story short, I got what I wanted and the staff were VERY helpful! I was so satisfied with them, I went back and got my aviator sunglasses! Now I can look like Rain, because the aviator covered majority of my face! Love this place. Perfect customer service and great smiles on their faces all time. I came here because the old one I had got scratched up badly. I knew that the only place I would go to get a new pair is Agape, unfortunately I didn't know where they moved to, until two months ago. Right before I walked into Costco, I saw a really familiar signboard written in Chinese. I was like "OMG, THEY MOVED HERE?? WHEN??" And that's how I got reconnected with them. When you walk into the store, you don't even have to call somebody to help you; they will come to you immediately. Just tell them what you need, they will do their best to help you right away. If you need a new prescription for the glasses, just schedule an appointment with their optometrist. It's cheap, fast, and detailed. Right after you walked out, you can just hand in your prescription for the glasses to the front desk, they will take care of it. I picked up my pair today. They told me I would need to wait for 2 weeks. Surprisingly, one of the guys called me within a week and told me that I can go pick it up at anytime. HELL YES! When I picked up my pair today, one of the employees handed me the case for general type glasses. The manager immediately came up to the employee and told him that the customer will get the higher grade case with a magnetic case for clip-on. She said that the customer paid a lot of money for the pair and should receive a proper protection for it. Although it is just a case and a clip-on protection, with such honesty, I don't know why I shouldn't come here. 5 STARS! btw, I don't know if you guys know this but if you need adjustments or cleaning with the glasses. My eyeglass frame's arm has broken off and I went to Agape Optical to see if it can be repaired. They told me that they can send it to a vendor to weld the arm back on or I can buy a similar frame and transfer the lenses to it. After taking some time to look through their frames, they found that only one frame is similar enough. They told me the price of the frame and I hesitated since it was a bit out of my budget. Surprisingly, they told me that I can try to shop for the exact frame online (they gave me the model number and sizes) and they'd transfer the lenses for me at no cost. They admitted frankly that it's hard to compete with online shops as they've overhead/expenses those shops don't. I ended up buying the same frame at a lower price online and they did transfer the lenses for me at no charge. Their customer service is much better than the Costco Optical across the parking lot, where I bought the broken frame and is very unhelpful when I told them about the broken arm. 2nd purchase here. Came here the first time because of good yelp reviews. Service is very good -- the ladies do not rush you and gave you many pairs of glasses to try. However, I have to take a star off for the high price of glasses. The sticker price is way inflated, and so even after take even half off, I later found out I am still paying double of what I could have paid from a reputable vendor in eBay. I do understand a brick and mortar store needs to make a higher margin than an online retailer, but when I have to pay $190 for a pair of Rayban (already half off the sticker price of $390!) costing anywhere from $50-100 in eBay, it does leave a little sour taste in the mouth. I probably will still visit the store for my future "lens" needs, but might opt to purchase glasses online first and bring it in next time. read more

And the nice thing about Chinese places like this with nice folks is that they'll sometimes help you... bend... the system a little to get you what you need for a better price. Not that I'd know for sure, since it's not like they did it for me or anything. Cough. + Dr. Chang is great, although the optometrist and the store section are technically separate. I count it as a bonus though that he's located here (part of the time, he's over at his San Gabriel location certain days of the week). Very professional, polite, has a great memory for his patients. He's bilingual in Mandarin and English. On the flipside: - They told me I'd receive a call in a few days once my glasses were ready, but I had to go in myself over a week later to check on them. Not really a big deal, but it would've been nicer if they'd followed through. - Everyone is very nice, but they seem to have quite a few new people. When I first went in, one of the clerks had trouble looking up my insurance, which took up some time. And when I went back for pickup, the girl there couldn't find my glasses at first. Brought in a pair of frames that needed new lenses, and they were happy to comply. Took about two weeks, probably because my prescription is very high and needs a special type of lens. Very helpful staff, and the one who runs the lab in the back, Robin, was extremely thorough and very helpful.
