I was never informed that I would have to pay out of pocket after my insurance claim. They couldn't determine why my vision wasn't stable, and a female doctor told me that my vision was unstable. She recommended a pair of lenses and glasses from the company to fix my vision. When I mentioned I couldn't afford it, they pressured me into applying for a credit card to cover the costs. I ended up spending thousands of dollars on two pairs of glasses that I can't use. After several visits, I decided to seek a second opinion from another optometrist and no longer returned. Focus Vision has been the most suitable optometry I've ever been to. I've been to a few different optometric centers before but none have ever satisfied me as much as this one. When I went for my eye exam, I was greeted by welcoming opticians at the front desk. The check-in went very smoothly and I was taken to the exam room quickly. I was seen by Dr. Jane Liang and she took really good care of me (and my eyes). She is a very enthusiastic and joyful doctor that makes me naturally feel at ease. I was able to open up to her with my issues regarding my eyes and even shared a bit about my personal life. When she heard about the situation with my eyes, she suggested a few different options I could take and I chose to get a dry eye treatment. I definitely felt relieved after having it done. The dry eye treatment I did included a relaxing heated eye massage that I was able to do on the same day, which was super convenient. After the treatment, I went to talk to the optician Carol, who generously spent time picking frames with me. She presented multiple eye-catching frames that caught my attention and her knowledge on glasses was at a professional level. I can tell she spends a lot of time to satisfy a patient's standards. The copay portions seemed reasonable to me and I got a special kind of frame that really fits my facial features. Even though I spent a lot of time picking the frame, Carol was very patient with me (which I am grateful for). When I went to pick up my glasses, another doctor (Dr. Cecillia Chiu) was there and explained all the benefits of my glasses once again. She also seemed very enthusiastic and made sure I walked away with no issues. After I tried on my glasses, I felt like I had seen a completely new world. I have never seen anything clearer before and the glasses were very lightweight. Unlike before, how my ears and nose area would feel tired from wearing glasses throughout the day, this new pair does not make me or my head feel fatigued at all! This place is full of cheaters, liars, and scammers. All they care is your money and they will even invent new, unheard-of method to get more money from you. I am currently consulting with a medical malpractice attorney for possible litigation against this place. My daughter has been coming to this place for couple years and not once did they explain her situation. Her eye sights are now shockingly poor when we went to do the physical exam with our pediatrician. This optometric place never once says anything; it is unbelievable. This place should be shut down for good; but that is the job for the lawyer and LA court system. We knew something wasn't right about this place and it was unfortunate that we didn't act sooner. I would have given a zero star review if I can. This place is unprofessional and worst of all unsanitary. When I visited, there was medical waste left on the clinic counter. I didn't went with my better judgement and continued to be examined. The result was that I got an eye infection within 5 hours of my eye exam visit. I returned to Dr. Liang's office the next day to resolve this matter. Dr. Liang and her office proceed to charge me another $75 before agreeing to check my infected eye. This $75 visit lasted less than 10 minutes with half of the patient care focus on checking on my uninfected Right eye. Dr. Liang procced to predict that my Right eye will soon be infected because of dermatitis. Now this information was based on a 2-3 minutes of looking in my uninfected right eye. I am in excellent health with no prior eye infection in my life. Customer be extra aware of this place. read more

-5 stars if possible. Buyer Beware! This place not only smells of sewage (literally) but the Dr. will also treat you like trash. I went in to have my eye exam as I noticed my vision changing. The doctor was quick to say that I needed a special service to clean my eyes, I quote "a spa day for my eyes" which sounded great, however the price tags was $800 with a $100 coupon. Yeah no. Their selection for modern eyewear is limited and they do not add prices to any frames. Sounds unethical, well it is because I found the same pair of Burberry frames $220 less than what they charged me, essentially these would have been free with my insurance. Additionally, they recommended progressive lenses, which I was adamant about not wanting because I have a problem with depth perception and was weary about running with these types of lenses on. So there goes another $185. I'm not done yet! When I called to let them know that I can't focus with the progressive lenses and my right eye was off, they said they could send them back and put in single vision lenses but would not refund me the $185. How does that make any sense at all? Since most of my questions were answered over the phone, the girl who I was speaking with said she would call me later to discuss as they had patients there. When I showed up about 10 minutes later, no one was in line or in the lobby. I began to go over the itemized receipt only to see the Dr. standing there pretending not to see me (ironically) or hear any of my concerns, rather she brought over their fine print terms and conditions which are contrary to what the receipt says, that there are no returns. She was obnoxious and obviously only seeing dollar signs. This is the last time I will buy anything there, I'm out $400 and still do not have glasses I can see out off... shouldn't that be a optometrists mission to ensure the patient is comfortable after their visit and taking their money? So I came to get an eye exam and contacts today, I went here because I'm familiar with the place.. I was here back in 2020 and I got contacts once. My eyes are two different visions. (Please remember this part) There were other employees back then working there who had taken care of me and helped me I ended up purchasing contacts. So I decided I come back here today from a Groupon, before going I called them to ask how much would a box of contacts be, they said $50/box. I told them I had seen they made a Groupon for eye exams. They said okay when you come in we can just honor the Groupon instead of me purchasing through the app. I said okay we arranged for me to come in today. When I got there I paid upfront for my "eye exam". I'm looking at letters numbers and an air balloon through random lenses which is what the doctor only had me do. Claims my eye are worst than before. Tries to scare me and say my eye needs thermal treatment so it can flush out bacteria better because it can't. Starts naming things like my eye are "always dry itchy full of bacteria and randomly get blurry???" I never complained about those things or said it and she just starts putting words in my mouth. Doesn't give me a chance to talk, also interrupts me? I'm sitting in my chair and I'm like oh okay. I ask is that covered with my insurance she froze up for a whole 10 seconds, eyes just wide and said no (pauses for another 5 seconds to obviously come up with something) she then goes it's out of pocket I'm like "oh well how much does it cost? And she she doesn't know but will go check. It's almost $300!! The crazy thing was the didn't offer to see if I wanted to do it! She was acting like she's about to start doing the service to my eye and made it seem like that's what they do there. Very sneaky and that just made me feel like they were only trying to sell me something and not take care of me or help me. I tell her I just want the contacts and I used to wear the contacts that were changed every two weeks a 3months supply. So now I'm only feeling like she's trying to figure out a way to get more out of me. Proceeds to tell me I need the contacts that has to be changed everyday not every 2 weeks. I let her explain why and finish talking. Not once did she mention price, I ask her how much is that? She freezes again and said they will be a little more . Doesn't say how much until I asked a 3rd time!!! At this point she's Just beating around the bush and being weird?? Then I find out It's almost $100 for a box of everyday wear contacts. I would need two because obviously my eyes are two different visions. Like wow, so I told her I don't want to proceed into purchasing anymore she starts saying I can get glasses or me buying contacts the same prescription for each eye???? Are you kidding me, ur okay with me walking around with contacts the same vision? She is just really being pushy and pressuring me. I stood my ground and said I don't want to continue. I leave the room she follows to tell the front desk that tells the front desk girls I don't want to buy contacts and I would ONLY HAVE TO PAY HALF BECAUSE I DID NOT FINISH THE EXAM. Only pay half!!! Those exact words came out her mouth... So I said well I already paid when I got here. The doctor goes back to the room. I told them everything that happened with me and how the doctor treated me, which they did not care, was not sympathetic so I was over being patient and polite. So I just straight up told them it just seems like you guys are trying to sell me, I've told you guys how im uncomfortable with how the doctor, it's just commission, how the doctor is exaggerating and I'd like my full refund. They did not want to give me my refund and I said "the doctor just said I only had to pay half! She pretends like we all did not experience what just happened?? They said because it's a Groupon I was already getting a deal we can't refund you. I'm looking at the Groupon now it's $103 for an eye exam I spent $77 because I had a 25 percent off code on Groupon. Half of $103 is not $77!!!! They gave me nothing back at all!! because they scam people and are money hungry! I was so upset I started crying as I walked out! Don't go here. Btw before I decided to make a review I read some on here first. I am definitely not the first to make a complain about these same things. So just warning you guys, don't let them do this to you. A few months ago, I first started going to Focus Vision for my daughter who needed new soft contact lenses. Her older cousin, who went to another optometrist, had experience with Acuvue, which worked for him and were very cheap/cost-effective, so I was excited to finally buy my daughter new corrective lenses. When I came into the store, I could tell that they meant business with state-of-the-art equipment and a visually pleasing aesthetic throughout the entire store. In addition, I experienced nothing but pleasantries from the staff and Dr. Liang, who were extremely kind and nice. However, I cannot say the same for the prices. Instead of prescribing BioTru or other more popular brands for some reason, the doctor prescribed us an oddly specific type of Precision1 lenses, which were a lot more expensive and way less common than other alternatives. Funnily enough, it just so happened that Focus Vision offered a batch of these lenses for a ridiculous cost of $680 for the whole yearly batch!!! And to make matters worse, she offered us another prescription of Omega-3 fish pills that would supposedly improve my daughter's division to a greater extent, but we did the research and found out that these pills were nothing but a waste of money that had no empirically proven effect on eyesight. Given that these prices were way out of budget for us, as we have been struggling recently due to the pandemic, we ultimately decided not to continue being a client of this optometry. read more

We had a great experience and would recommend visiting. They were very kind to us and helped us. We saw both Dr. Yu for our first visit she was kind and did two follow ups with Dr. Jane who we really liked as well. My kindergartener was getting her eyes checked and I felt that they were kind and respectful to both of us. My child was excited to be back and wanted to hug her doctor which I think is a good sign for a young child that has to wear glasses. We were so blessed and would highly recommend them. read more

Office is clean up front then its gets a bit cluttered as you walk further in. Staff seems nice but quite and not as knowledgeable. The doctor is great and very well experience in her sales pitch....Then come the prices.... $$$ WTF! I have to pay how much... Oh h3LL No!! I've been to many optometrists due to insurance changes and I am well aware of competitive pricing but the prices here are higher than most other offices. I got all my frames & lens made somewhere else after convincing them to release my prescription to save money. They wanted to charge me $700 but i got it done for $350 some where else because they are me charging me double here so I only paid for the therapy service for my children. They even double checked my frames to see if they are as prescribe and I told them it should be I went to a well known place. The frames are good so now we continue the vision therapy service. I paid 2K to work with a real vision therapist not a student assistant who is extremely timid and not kid friendly enough to work with young children. I had such a negative vibe and felt extremely uncomfortable to watch my child go through such an unhappy session. After my 2nd visit I demanded a refund which they gave me only partial refund. I got an second opinion from a more experience well known specialist who told me that we didn't need to purchase two expensive pairs of bi-focal glasses & reading glasses or have vision therapy done at all!!!!! NOW I AM PISSED OFF. Please always get a second opinion and do your research when it come to serious visits. Ask around and find a reputable doctor. I'm very happy with my family's new OD and vision corrections I'm sure its OK to just get a regular eye exam here and buy frames since you cant go wrong with that but they are far from being experienced when it come to serious vision reconstructions and therapy treatments. read more

Many people I know also come to this place for contacts and glasses, it's one of the most popular eye places I have ever been to. Called in no one knew what was going on, I was disappointed because I really wanted a sample to hold me off for an out of town trip. I placed an order somewhere else for my contacts paid upfront for them as I would have in your office as well, they gave me a sample for free for my trip cuz I have none and I scheduled my eye exam for next week and will be purchasing my glasses there as well. I have learned I need to make sure the providers I go to place customer service and their clients above all else because I work hard as hell for my money being a nurse and I'm a pretty loyal customer. Like others have said it becomes obvious from the moment you step foot into their store. How much money can they get from you ? I have never owned glasses before but as Im getting older I went to a doctor and got a prescription. They are near my home so I-made an appointment and went in for a very basic set of my first pair of glasses. It felt like I stepped on a used car lot. They sent a guy over to tell me the glasses would be starting at 650.00. Go to lens crafters. Spent 290.00 for the same glasses and got them the same day. Unlike the 7-10 working days. I normally try to support local businesses above chain stores but only when they are not taking advantage of locals like these people obviously are. Educate people? When you saw my displeasure with the 650. Dollar price tag not one person in the store mentioned a less expensive option. Might be a good idea in the future to "educate customers " on the fact that there are cheaper options in the beginning. Instead of acting as if the most expensive option is the only one. Seems to me that's an easy way of taking advantage of people who might not know any other way. Im not your only customer that feels this way so obviously it's an issue for your business stop blaming the customers for this and be more upfront and honest when it comes to pricing. read more

Our 9 year old son experienced sleeping problems, severe eczema, and difficulties in school. Dr. Liang recommended using the hyperbaric oxygen chamber to help treat these symptoms. Since our son is only 9, my husband would go inside the oxygen chamber with him. My husband benefited from the oxygen treatments also. We paid for 17 sessions of oxygen treatments. After the 8th oxygen treatment, my son was finally able to sleep through the night! It has been over 5 months since our last oxygen chamber treatment and he still sleeps through the night. We are extremely grateful for this and he is performing so much better in school. His eczema has improved a lot too. He doesn't have use cortisone steroids anymore to help control his eczema. Our son is also receiving vision therapy after his eye exam from Dr. Liang. We have done 3 months of vision therapy and we have noticed a tremendous improvement in our son's academic progress. His fine motor skills and reading comprehension has also improved. There are weekly exercises that our son completes and Dr. Liang explains each exercise thoroughly and answers any and all questions you may have. We are very happy with the progress our son has made. Dr. Liang and all her staff are extremely professional, nice, kind and caring. They always greet you with a smile and make you feel comfortable in their office. We are very thankful and grateful for the 5 star service we always receive. Like a shoe, you have to choose a pair that's best for you. Unfortunately for me, this establishment didn't fit. PROS: The place is modern, clean, latest equipment, good customer service. NEUTRAL: Prescribed medication and diet change. Did an above and beyond medical procedure that cost extra (for my insurance). Noticed a room where kids do eye exercises, never seen that before. CONS: Worked at get my prescription right trying many new and different things, except what was working for me before. Honestly, I just wanted my old prescription from my previous retired OD. Michelle took care of me and she was really sweet. She was really patient with me while I tried on pair after pair of glasses and debated with my boyfriend about what type and color contact lenses I wanted. HALLELUJAH!!! It's such a rare thing to find an optometrist that is amazing, kind, gentle, a good listener, and HONEST. I've been seeing Dr. Liang the past few years now and let me just say...she has NEVER fitted me with a wrong prescription, and always offers me the option of either glasses or contacts (and even gives me several kinds of contacts to try out so i can decide on the most comfortable one!). I have had a bad experience with other optometrists in the area (no names) that charge sky high prices and make the experience impersonal and rushed but Dr. Liang is fair, reasonable, and actually cares about the patient. Her assistants Vicky, Daniel, and Michelle are caring and professional too! Vicky, who took my prescription, was OUTSTANDING. Vicky is so unbelievably sweet and soft spoken. She is perfect for overly-sensitive and nervous patients like myself, who have had very bad experiences with optometrists in the past. Dr. Liang did the actual exam. She explains everything in detail, takes her time, is very thorough and patient, listens well, and is a genuinely caring and compassionate person. And NO, they didn't offer me a discount to post this review. I just like to give praise and credit where it's due! This is why i will gladly make the 30 minute drive from Chino Hills to Hacienda Heights to get a quality eye exam! One thing i gotta mention is their HUGE HUGE HUGE selection of glasses and shades! Dolce Gabbana, Guess, Versace, Gucci, Juicy Couture, Spy, Rayban, Oakley, Ed Hardey, any brand name you can name...they will have it! And the best thing is, it's at a reasonable price!!! She far exceed my expectations as great eye doctor with a great office staff. Going in is like going "home". Each individual, from the doctors, to the office staff, to the eye technicians, treat you with the very best care.
