What an inconvenience and hassle, since we have planned our day out already. Now we have to wait until 1pm to be seen by a doctor as they had to squeeze us in for an appointment. And on top of that, the front desk were not even apologetic or nice about it, just all attitude. Gee, thanks. We come back at 1pm, obviously we were already not impressed. Just walking in the front door, and the whole process. This review is solely regarding about their appointment system and customer service and the whole appointment process felt like rushed and impersonal, Dr Zhu did not even come by to meet us even though she was there, not even a peep at the door. We came here for a second opinion and also exploring our options--but it turns out the first place we went to yesterday which is IQ Laser vision (which is also down the street) is far more superior with their customer service, patient treatment and just the entire process--everyone there was top notch professional as you walked in the door. I am glad that going here in Hyperspeed Lasik validated our decision making into choosing IQ Laser vision.

At 41, I've started to think that advancements in eye correction technology are much more promising than what has been available in the past. Surgery can be a daunting experience, especially when it involves your eyes. However, I encourage you to try the "Evo ICL" it's safe and has improved since last year. One of the best parts about this procedure is that if you're not satisfied with the results, or if a better option comes along, you can reverse the treatment. So, there's really no major risk if it doesn't work out. I qualified for the "Evo" ICL, and while I had my doubts at first, I've learned that patience is key when adjusting to a new way of seeing. Along with eye drops to aid the healing process, I found that after about three months, my eyes began to coordinate and adjust. What was once a constant dependency on glasses is now improving, and I'm starting to feel more normal without them. It's funny; I still find myself touching my face to lift imaginary glasses that no longer exist--it's just a habit! I highly recommend this option to anyone who wants to change their vision, whether it's for practical reasons, like gaming without glasses or to keep up with future technologies like AI glasses. From my first visit to the office which was the same day as my consultation things ran smoothly. My next visit to the office was the day of the surgery and everything I read on yelp and online about the surgery and recovery process was pretty true to form. The follow up went smoothly as well. My only issue is actually with the cost of the procedure. Now, it is important to note that I only got a pair of eyeballs and if I'm going to have some lasers open up some slits to my corneas, then I want to go somewhere I can trust and am willing to pay more for higher quality. I was quoted at a price which I thought was fair. At this point I referenced a Groupon that was available from their Riverside office. Minutes later, I was given a different price that matched the Groupon but had a slightly higher price since it was SMILE versus LASIK. This was good news for me as I had lowered the price of my surgery, but left a slight question in my mind as it seems like pricing can be quite arbitrary and had I not done my research before, I would have had to pay more. I thought this was something I would expect with going to a dealership to buy a car, but not something like getting a surgery. So I guess if there is a helpful tip, do your research before and there's a chance you can get the same procedure at a lower cost too.

I didn't wake up with HD vision the next day, I couldn't open my eyes. I was in so much pain, it was like my eyelids were scrapping my eyeballs when I tried to open my eyes. I took the medication and was asleep for most of the day. I was freaking out and crying thinking something went wrong. so I had my sister call for me and they said my experience was normal. Well then why the heck didn't they tell me?? I hadn't planned to miss work and school for week. When I was able to open my eyes, I saw like dog and then slowly started to see things clearly. I'm happy the surgery did work. Just wished I knew about the recovery process. For follow ups, they aren't as nice as when you first come in. I would schedule my appt at 8am so I could go to work right after and the doctor would always be more than 30mins late so I stopped going for check ups. As a pediatric general dentist, I'm seeing 40-80 kids a day - to say my vision is critical is an understatement, and I'd only be trusting my eyes to the best. LASIK has completely changed my daily clinical and non-clinical life, and even 5 or so years after my original surgery date, easily remains one of the best health related expenses I've ever done. For those of you interested in the academic side of things, Dr. Zhu is well credentialed - a Harvard graduated MD, with Ophthalmology residency at the Doheny Eye Institute / USC & Los Angeles County Medical Center. Her fellowship was at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. As if that's not enough, she still does research and mentors upcoming residents. This level of training and active commitment to the medical community as a whole speaks volumes to the caliber of clinician that Dr. Zhu is and aspires to build unto others. Non-academically, Dr. Zhu herself is incredibly personable, and shows an unwavering commitment to her patients - even years later, she personally follows up me multiple times, and is as interested in my own vision outcomes as I am. She is thorough, detail-oriented, and can confidently convey the same depth and breath of knowledge to her patients. Due to my correction being borderline for the limits of LASIK, all contingencies were planned for to ensure excellent outcomes. When I called back, the receptionist actually had the nerve to tell me that my $400 glasses were 'only for driving, not for reading.' I had to challenge her before she finally transferred me to Penny, the doctor's wife. Later, I went in to have the lenses replaced. I waited for three weeks without any update. When I called to check, the same receptionist told me she had no idea how much longer it would take and couldn't provide any tracking info. She just kept giving me the runaround to get me off the phone; So far I still haven't received my lenses replacement. This is exactly the kind of service you can expect here--extremely poor attitude. First, it was nearly impossible to even make the appointment--I was on hold for close to 4 hours just to get scheduled. When I finally arrived at the office, the receptionist claimed they hadn't received the authorization from my PCP--even though that form was required for me to even book the appointment in the first place. After I had my PCP resend the authorization directly to them, the office then told me my insurance was not valid. As someone who works in HR and processes employee benefits, I knew this made no sense. Because I was in so much pain, I paid upfront just to see the doctor and planned to sort out the insurance later. My insurance claim was processed and paid on 4/11/25, but as of 9/15/25 I still haven't received my refund for the upfront payment. To make matters worse, the reception staff and billing department were extremely rude and unhelpful. I've been calling every two weeks for the past five months, and no one has provided any real updates or resolution. Avoid this place at all costs. Between the unprofessional staff, lack of communication, and failure to issue refunds in a timely manner, this has been one of the worst healthcare experiences I've ever had.
