DO NOT USE AFRICAN SUN! They are not only poor at communicating when issues arise, but they are extremely unprofessional. I was a customer since 2022 and their service started out well, but has been degrading over the past year. Attached are pictures 3 hours after they "cleaned" my pool. Additionally, they blame the size of my sand filter as being too small for the size of my pool. They were the ones who recommended and installed the filter! I put out a simple request for a not so simple fix for our pool. We just had the primary power repaired and get the pool back to swimming order. Got lots of Estimated sight unseen and .these guys were reasonable at a time when other companies charged almost 3 times the amount for start up. I really don't get business culture in Arizona. Pool company was supposed to come out two days ago, then supposedly first thing this morning. 428 pm doorbell rings (sign says not to do so for any reason and anyone who is scheduled knows this) as I was in the middle of an important work conference call. We've had criminal activity in the area as well and extra caution has been advised. I said you need to leave you are trespassing. Any reputable person would identify themselves. And then I get a lovely text from an unknown number. Communication regarding pool issue previous to this was somewhat helpful and I had hoped this would move forward in a good way. This just really shook me up. People's time and communication matter to both sides of the equation in business dealings. read more

Set an appointment for the next day, they responded on time and ready to start work. They were very knowledgeable and gave great advice. 40 mins later my motor was installed and my booster pump works great. I will always use them for installation and repair. read more

Said they were doing checks on the pool however my chlorinator was broken and was bursting water all over the place. When they came back they knew it was broken because I told them, they "warranted it" and over two weeks for the part. They came back to "clean" the pool on the weekly service turned on the pool to have my backyard flood from the leaking chlorinator however they said they checked the equipment and my pool had a reading of 4.4 ppm for free chlorine. However the chlorinator was off for a week so how could true free chlorine be the same reading with no chlorine getting feed into the pool. I checked myself and found it was below 1ppm. Checked the filter baskets and they were not clean. I checked my video recordings and saw they only brushed the side of the pool. They also said they added chlorine tabs and I checked and no tablets were added. read more

Very reliable company. Michael the owner is always there to answer questions, and his team is very transparent if they are running late or need to push out the service to the next day. Chad is the most friendly, and the other cleaning guys are nice as well. Pool always looks clean and the email report after the cleaning are a nice feature. Unfortunately, our experience with African Sons Pools left a really bitter taste in our mouths. We were so excited to have them as the people to care for our pool after reading about the truck mounted vacuum system and email communication about chemical status after every visit .. It all seemed very high Tech and professional. The first couple weeks all of those things happened and in fact, we hired them to go above and beyond normal pool care , we also hired them to do some expensive equipment replacement and care ( over $3000! ) I won't go into all the particulars , but let's just say that there were issues that we kept kindly asking them to come back to fix and the attitude of the owner was not just arrogant, but rude with his communications like we were being unreasonable to expect it to be working as it should. He actually kept adding things on saying we needed a new thing to make things work right... there was just terrible communication but we assumed there was just human misdiagnosis and always gave the green light to give the benefit of the doubt .. One of the things that they touted was having experienced pool techs, and even though our pool tech was a nice guy, he was openly verbal about the fact he had never worked on pools before and didn't know anything about them... We tried several times to rectify the situation about the leaks coming from a newly installed salt cell but rather than want to do everything, he could to help rectify the situation the last email we got after we said, we no longer would be needing their services because of the things outlined above (including realizing that our pool tech had never vacuumed or backwashed the four months that he was caring for our pool which he admitted the last day we had service and asked about it ) when we mentioned that the pool tech was only ever at our house for about five minutes at a time , the Owners response was " Average pool service stop lasts about 5-7 minutes" How can normal brushing, vacuuming , back washing , skimming and chemical checks be done in 5 minutes??? No, "Gosh I'm so sorry to hear that or how can we rectify that?" Honestly, it was pretty obvious he could care less if we were his clients or not. My pool pump stopped working and being that we live in Arizona and it is hot, it needed to get addressed right away. I created on Yelp to several pool repair companies. African Suns Pools was one of the first to respond. They were able to get out the next day and after taking a look they gave me several options on next steps. I decided rather than repair it ( because it was old) I would replace it. In addition, I wanted to replace my Hayward as well as the pool filler. Can not recommend them highly enough. I had tried for a month to get my pool back in condition, using recommendations for treatment from Leslie's Pool. It just got worse. They came out immediately, quoted me a reasonable price for treatment 2 times a day for 5 to 7 days. They ended up working on my pool 2-3 times a day for almost 2 weeks without an extra cost. My pool has never looked better. Now have them as regular service for again a good price. And if I have any trouble (like after rains) they come right out and fix it without waiting for my regular schedule. They have changed my sand in my filter, fixed other pool parts, and helped me get a good new vacuum. Great crew! read more

We hired this pool company to service our Air BNB. Through many different "we will will be there ______" day, we finally got them to come and commit to a service day. We had a couple things that needed repair on our pool. They repaired a pump screen with a used part (agreed upon). Every single time they cleaned our pool they'd send a picture of a dirty pool with the "your pool is clean!" title. We were incredibly patient. They said they would fix or repair our vacuum, that never happened. Then they fired us as a customer citing "no longer servicing rentals". Our new pool company went out a week later, only to find a horrendously dirty pool and $5k in items that needed to be repaired, INCLUDING OUR PUMP AND THE PART THEY REPLACED LESS THAN A MONTH AGO. We have no idea if they broke anything but all we know is African Suns is the last company/crew to touch our pump and it is now broken. RUN AWASY FROM THIS COMPANY. Just had a 20+ year old pump swapped out for a new one by Michael at African Suns Pools at a rental property after a single stage motor that I'd previously swapped failed -- I looked for a contractor near the property because I was hoping to get the work done sooner rather than scheduling out, and Michael returned my call on the weekend outside of normal business hours. These guys are awesome and I'd highly recommend. I've had a pool redone, replaced a few motors myself, had my own pump swapped out years ago, and can honestly say that Michael and his team are total pros... I have a background in swimming pools having worked in the retail side for a few years. Having not worked in the field though I decided to contact a pro to have some overhaul work done on the pool equipment at our recently purchased house. I decided to try African Suns after the first guy I tried obviously did not want my business. Michael told me on his first trip out that no one would work harder for me -- Michael wound up replacing quite a bit of my above ground pvc plumbing and the housing on one of my pumps. -- After seeing him work I absolutely agree, no one will work harder to make sure the job is done correctly and efficiently.
